Lads/lasses,

I am a season ticket holder, I am not a manager (unless I have a dabble on Football Manager!) I am not a coach but have played sunday football and I have played many times for my Regiment in the Army, but someone please tell me why Howson is playing every week? I think I have a decent understanding of football, but maybe where I stand in the Kop im missing something. In my opinion he is awfull and making Clayton work extra hard. Don't get me wrong I like Howson but something needs to change. He isn't a captain and Ive said this many times on here, but why doesnt SG drop him to give him a kick up the backside? If we gave Nunez or Valyren a chance I think we would see a difference.
On a different note I think we played well today, I cant remember Cardiff having many chances and their keeper was superb. We have matched nearly every team this season and as soon as the luck is on our side we will give some teams a hiding, maybe Blackpool or Barnsley at home. As for the goal today against us, come on Simon, even if he was pushed it was a simple decision to make, GET RID OF THE BALL!. ODear is a simple player and every time he gets the ball he puts it out of play except for this one time where he makes a mistake. Paddy looked a better player when he came on and I hope he starts on Wed. The future is very bright, when we cut out these silly mistakes, get a bit of luck and sort Howson out we will be pushing the top 2. I just want to congratulate Aidy White on a great performance today, I think he or Clayton were the man of the match for us but dint see who got it, probably their keeper and well done Snoddy for knuckling down and his form is slowly coming back. Keep the faith and lets see us march on together up this table. NR.

I was in the East Stand and I thought Howson played better than Clayton, tracked back well as usual, it's a game of opinions! But he certainly isn't rubbish. Apart from Odea's mistake, we totally outplayed Cardiff.

Agree6 Disagree4

Yeah mate, like I say im in the kop and don't have the best of views at times, he just seems to be a headless chicken, but time will tell. I agree we outplayed them but some people on here say we were rubbish, but I cant see that no matter which part of the ground you sit. By the way a big shout out to the 3 fans (approx) in the east stand upper!! What a waste of time! All the best. NR

Agree4 Disagree0

Howson did not play better than Clayton at all. Give him another season and AC should be the finished article. Could be another McAllister.

Agree4 Disagree4

Clayton got MOM I see noones mentioned I i though he had a really good game and

Agree4 Disagree1

Im pleased he got MOM. I thought sky would have give it their keeper. NR

MOT

Agree4 Disagree0

I thought Sky would have gived their keeper MOM, but I thought Aidy White or Snoddy were out best players.

Agree1 Disagree3

I actually thought lees or connolly were my MOM in my humble opinion

Agree2 Disagree1

Didn't think connolly was as he doesn't want the ball enough but Lees is progressing well as is Aidy White who was my vote.

Just got home from the game, the last 2 home games have been very disappointing, the first half was very poor today as was the attendance, the team itself lacks the instinct to kill games off, Cardiff packed the midfield with 5 and our midfield struggled to find a way through, in all our performances of late look predictable we only start playing when were chasing the game to a goal conceded.Coventry and Cardiff have been 4 points thrown away,

Believable5 Unbelievable4

You are right in a way but it's a professional moan in my opinion. If we keep this squad together and keep O'Dea permanent who I happen to rate next season we could have a serious team on our hands. What we need to do is develop more of an end product for goals from set pieces. That way we can stay in front in games where we play not so well and win the games comfortably we deserve to win on balance of play. That comes with more time. This is another but I think final teething season. Rejoice at Lees coming on so well and from what I hear there's a few others who will be doing same from the Academy. We may not go up this season but we will go up next if Grayson carries on like he has been. In my opinion.

Can't for the life of me work out what howsons role is and I don't think he knows either! It often looks like he just thinks he is there to wear the captains arm band! Is he a holding midfielder, defensive midfielder, midfielder??? Certainly not an attacking midfielder otherwise why would Ross have to come so deep to collect the ball?

Extremely disappointed with the crowd as well 20,000 in a Sunday against Cardiff? Where have ten thousand Leeds fans disappeared to?

Believable4 Unbelievable6

The other ten thousand were Sat in front of sky with there Sunday dinner

Agree1 Disagree1

Loyal as ever then......

Agree1 Disagree1

Howsens better in a 5 man midfield. can u blame people not cumin when he charges 30 pound for a ticket when its on sky ? (and yes i woz at the game)

Agree3 Disagree1

It's probably the going rate for a ticket with a club Leeds' size. It wasn't any different last season when we were promoted and getting an extra 7, 800 a game if not more. It's probably a reality that we only have 20,000 hardcore fans that come week in week out. If you want a cheaper ticket price get a season ticket or go watch udders town!!

Agree0 Disagree1

You can't get paid what he does and claim I am only good when in a five man midfield. Let's face it, he just isn't that good

Agree1 Disagree2

Not everyone can afford to go week in week out with tickets so expensive. Every club charges too much simply because players are paid too much and football and all sport is just a business to most owners now. So dont expect to get a fair priced ticket until people stop going and theu start lowering prices. Rant over.

Agree2 Disagree0

I would say he's listening to his critics and trying to be more effective defensively. but this just means he neglects his instinct to go forward and makes him look worse than he is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Drop Howson NOW Please he's terrible, 1 shot 17 touches in 90 mins as for O'dea give paddy a chance... Gj

Agree2 Disagree2

Drop the captain good on GJ, who next mccormack coz hes not scored in 2? some people are too critical on here

Phew there was me starting to think we had cracked it in defence and O'Dea was starting to turn it round.......however he answered the critics and proved you can't polish a turd by making an absolute calamity and gifting them a goal!! Grayson had the cheek in his post match interview to blame it on concussion or a push in the back!!! Please, treat the fans with some respect!

Can't for the life of me understand what howsons

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Why criticise Grayson, he was merely stating what was blatantly obvious, that O'dea was pushed, and he had concussion. You failed to mention Grayson also said he should have got rid of it quicker, but then to mention that doesn't suit your petty vendetta. Two things I learned this week, we're a better team than birmingham and Cardiff, and with a bit more luck we could have had at least 4 points out of them. We didn't but that's football, we move on..you should too.

Agree6 Disagree1

Petty vendetta?? Get a grip....at what point was there a vendetta against Grayson?? How's about you get off your high horse, we're you even there today?

It's quite clear that O'Dea made a big mistake. Grayson shouldn't be making excuses. If O'Dea was concussed then don't play in such a big fixture.

Agree1 Disagree2

Were you there? If so what area? The comment about grayson treating the fans with respect makes me believe you have no grasp on reality.of all the managers we've had in my lifetime he treats them with the most respect because he is one too.

Agree3 Disagree1

To be fair he got an absolute shove in the back which you cant do in football so Grayson is telling the truth!!

Agree2 Disagree1

He did get a shove in the back, but to be honest he should have dealt with it and stood stronger. It was a terrible defensive mistake. If he was suffering from concussion perhaps he shouldn't have played.

Agree1 Disagree0

O`Dea got another knock during the game, hence the concussion.

Agree0 Disagree0

A defender wouldn't get away with pushing an attacker in the same position. i sit behind the dugout and could see it clearly so why couldn't phil dowd or his super flag happy linesman

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Oct 2011 15:44:32
Definately O'Dear as oppose to O'Dea......... I reckon use paddy and O'Dea on a rotation system so they can fight it out for the shirt. Tom Lees is maturing into a quality centre half now too

Believable5 Unbelievable4

One mistake doesn't make a player bad. Everyone makes mistakes at some point. What matters is how he deals with it and whether it affects his confidence. It was bad - but he's done well for us. Paddy, sadly has lost it. First thing he did was foul a player and didn't get much better.

Agree6 Disagree5

Paddy was better than O'Dear today by a country mile.... If you remember he floated in the free kick to lees who set up snoddy. You have to be consistent to be a succesful centre back...... Just like Tom Lees has been doing, but unfortunately we haven't got another cb with the same consistency

Agree3 Disagree3

One free kick, even leading to a goal, does not a good performance make. Paddy is 5 yards off the pace, holds opponents at EVERY set piece, distributes poorly...O'Dea made a mistake. Get over it - he won the game against Posh for us FFS. O'Dea has been so much better than Paddy over the course of this season.

Better second half, good performance. 1st half we just didn't have the intensity or desire and played too direct. Its not good enough really to start like that, especially against Cardiff. Rachubka drives me crazy. He comes for balls and doesn't clear his lines properly... and why does he insist on pumping the ball high and long straight to their centre halves every time, especially with McCormack up there? Basic tactical issues which should be addressed by SG. Llyod Sam should be given a chance. He offered some natural width which we missed generally in the game, played too much through the middle. Overall, a disappointment. The sort of games which we need to be winning, against a rival at home. Especially when you have the lions share of possession and create enough chances. We don't seem to be able to be hard nosed and grind out the results. And although we defended better throughout the game, we still conceded to another individual error. We are failing to make hay whilst the sun shines.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Whats happened to Nunez

Agree1 Disagree0

Good point re Nunez, though i think he is the sort of player who enjoys playing in a fluid tika-tka style football in the whole. He doesn't like defensive duties and basically likes getting in possession, getting the ball out of his feet and getting a shot away. He is not a bad player at all, and should probably be more involved, but it's about getting the right system that he suits. And in fairness, until the last 2 games the front two have delivered.

Agree1 Disagree0

Nunez doesn't fit now we only have 5 subs.

SG needs to have a word at half time... not good enough.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

30 Oct 2011 14:04:47
Not a good first half at all vs Cardiff. Impatient build up play, too direct. Rachubka blasting the ball long every time he gets it and their physical centre halves winning the headers and staring again. We aren't fluent in pocession and we dont seem to be working as hard as Cardiff. Awful mistake for the goal. Need to be better second half. We need to win these type of games at home. Why can't we ever beat Cardiff? They aren't Real Madrid!!

A win today is needed more than ever,to keep us in touch with Saints and West Ham.
I would play Keogh and Becchio up front with Ross just behind in a free role and drop Howson to the bench

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Howson played today, apart from 1 shot on goal, he touched the ball 17 times in 90 mins. NOT good enough drop him now..

Agree3 Disagree4

WHY disagree are you his dad, he;s been terrible.. DROP him now

Agree2 Disagree1

Howson is not a midfielder! End of.. Esp not cm. He just runs around out of position! Last year he played off striker, his position! This year no room for that position.. We made hull look terrible when he dint play! Grayson hes a passenger!

Im getting ready to meet the lads in the white hart. Lets hope we get this burden off our back with the bogey team of the English wannabies in Cardiff! Win, draw or lose this will not make our season, but come on lads, lets give the sheep shaggers a hiding! Im a firm believer that Cardiff and Swansea should be in the Welsh league. You dont see Rangers and Celtic in our league! Come on Leeds, 3 pts please. NR
