Well done NR. Positive subs away from home can only be commended, especially when we really need some wins on the board.

Think Bamba is a real coup at this level. Austin now playing to his max with Ngoyi ready to take his place so the side looks better. If we need goals there's always Sharp and Mirco to come off the bench. If we landed Woolford we would be even better even though he is a fan of the theatre of hollow myths. He is an old fashioned winger who will pick out Morison all day long from the left. Picking up Campbell would be great too, would provide us with another dimension. I therefore applaud the efforts of Redders and Salerno in this window but I'd love to see Pavoletti and Knockaert arrive also.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unfortunately Pavo got snapped up yesterday by Genoa so good luck to him. I'd prefer Pringle to Woolford which has been rumoured. Would love Knockaert to play for us but I'm not sure we even need another striker. I'd like Campbell but I think Ant is good, Morison is a good target man, Doukara is a hassle for defenses running in behind and Sharp is a poacher. We have most types of striker covered so we should be ok with wingers.

Most types covered that just don't put the ball in the net often enough! Maybe it is the fact that these guys have not had the service but come on, we need them to find form and the net more often. Let's hope that Sharpy has the taste and really goes on a run. Can't fault Morrison work rate and effort but - goals win games and it just ain't happening.
Over the moon with last few results but I Really hope things start shaping up following any new additions (who are not injured!). We need it and the fans deserve it - work in progress and getting there but we have a lot of loan players and a few out of contract at the end of the season - they won't sign or stay if we can't find the winning formula utilising the squad! MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

I know exactly what you mean mate and I agree but we know none of them are bad players. Now that Douks has been dropped for a few games I think if you subbed him on for 30 you'd see a man possessed. Antenucci plays better with another striker so he's best as a sub too. Morison is a good target man but 4231 doesn't require a target man (look at City using Aguero solo up top) so there's no reason Sharp can't start a few games.

Main benefit we have with Doukara is that he's shown promise, he's quick and strong and he's only young so he has time to develop.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry kdeaco but I don't agree you can play Sharp up front on his own, he needs to play with a target man to be fully effective. Aguero is a totally different class of player in a team with attacking quality which does not allow comparison with our situation

Good job we got the 3 points today, or we would be 4th from bottom. On a positive note, table is becoming very congested and a few good results will see us climb quickly :)

ooooooo. VERY interesting last comment in Billy Sharp's after-match interview!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Where can I find that then?
Was it on Sky?

Agree0 Disagree0

No danum
Local BBC radio, but its online
But I don't want you wasting another 10 minutes on my account so I'll let you what he said. He was asked about the MC situation and said something along the lines of ' if he leaves Redders and the lads to get on with it, we'll be fine'

Agree0 Disagree0

On the subject of interviews, I've got a great feeling about Sol Bamba. In his interview says he was furious at goal because a smaller player got his head to the ball, and that shouldn't be happening. Think he gave Silvestre a right *rollocking. Very premature but possible future captain?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Speedy, wasn't having a go.
It's just that you have so many posts it took me ages to find the one you meant.

I'd have heard it if I hadn't turned radio off to watch 'come dine with me'.
The fat bloke won, if anyone's interested! :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey danum
Don't worry mate. I never thought you were having a go.
But don't leave us hanging in mid air about come dine with me!
Aren't you going to post the winning recipe? :)

Only listened to second half on radio Leeds due to work. Sounds like the game could have gone either way but we really needed that win. Couple more wins & we should hopefully stop worrying about relegation.
On another point Adam Pope & Noel Whelan were giving Antenucci all sorts of stick, basically saying he looked as though he couldn't be bothered ( I know he put the cross in for Sharps goal )
What with Silvestri looking a bit dodgy, Bellusci looking a bit reckless & Bianchi out of form, does anyone else think that the Cellino/ Salerno method of bringing in lower league Italians was not such a good idea?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can you blame Mirco? Top scorer in his first season, playing well and he's dropped for Morison.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. I wouldn't drop the top goalscorer either especially when we replace him with a striker that never scores, but if Antenucci is sulking that's not going to make Redfern want to put him back in the team.
It could be his reaction to being dropped in the first place that Redfern doesn't like.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't argue with you Danum. lower league Italians of dubious prowess was never a good idea for a club seeking to get promoted from the Championship. but Smitch has got a very fair point - Antenucci was always the pick of the bunch, and being dropped for Morison was a puzzle. Could be his work rate in training didn't impress Redders, but that's just guessing?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he was dropped due to the change in the system guys, in current system SM seems to be able to hold it up more and taller for knock downs so a tactical decison by Redders.

Ant is a better goal scorer clearly and he should be in team if we play 2 up but we not doing that and we are 4 unbeaten so fair enough by the coach.

Think Ant will get his chance again but maybe sharp will get the nod now?

Agree re some of the signings, Bamba looked good, cooper yes, sharp yes, ant yes, keeper is fine rest is from old squad and the 2 younger players who made breakthrough this year for us.

Having said that you always get signings that don't work so that not unusual.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2015 19:18:38
well said mirco would be first and now midfield better he'll get more chances morison now 5 games no goals that's a good run with zero . mirco has more pace and runs everywhere .

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with DG on all his points. Ant dropped purely tactical reasons and his time will come again.

Bloody hell Speedy, just spent ten minutes of my life looking for your earlier post.
I'll never get them back! :)

Lol danum
10 minutes well spent I would say!
No charge this time :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Wasn't at game Aussie but sounded like Bamba did ok. Apparently Antenucci was pants, but he did supply the cross for Billy, and we got 3 points so who cares?

Get the advantage and the give it away with a git to the Udder, same old, same old.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well. That's unusual. Being a winning team!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha ha. That's so funny
Always said sharp was prolific!

Apparently Leeds looking at a loan for Frazier Campbell. Would be worth a punt for the pace up front and can do it well at this level.

31 Jan 2015 01:12:11
Should a team play its best players if they are fit and in form or keep the team that has done ok recently?
Not what I'd call doing well but better than recent history!
I would change a winning team if I'd just bought a better player!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ausman history shows you play your best team, not just your best players. The team formation/ way of playing coupled with players who play in their normal positions (might not be the best players) is what you do

Great example of trying to just play your best players rather than best team is England with gerard/lamps midfield which never worked for England, they best players but didn't work together so not best team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well for me Antenucci has to start, Arsenal wouldn't drop Sanchez for Bendtner would they? Sloth is also a player that should be starting. Danish international can't get in a struggling championship side. As today is a battling game, I'd drop Cook and bring in N'Goyi for steel.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why change a winning team, we must remember the signings are Cellino's choices not Redfearn's I say fair play to Redders for sticking with a team & formation that so far is starting to show some improved team performances.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey. 1 win in about 10 ain't a winning team
It's a desperate team
Our standards have dropped!
Which is understandable but
Don't have your best players on the bench cause last game bucked the trend
I know it's 1-0
