The last time that Leeds played Boro away, Patrick Bamford scored a hat-trick, jus saying 😁 #omen.

Al love the posistivity its keeping me afloat all I see is we lost 3 0 on our last two visits just hoping we don't throw away the season now but I can see bamford scoring but I think it will be a low scoring game.

03 Feb 2019 18:31:11
Me wheels are coming off. Was not expecting that scoreline. Defense really poor but attack not so clever either. Like Roofe but not the answer up front. and i hope Bamford stays fit and gets a run out. Browne also scoring again for U23s so hope Bielsa thinks he is fit enough now, both lads need to start earning their wages now. Think we need KP back in his holding role. Too many off their game so hopefully that will not happen again. Still in second and a little gap to third and now SU go into freefall this month, and we go into March 6 points clear of third. We need to get something from Middlesbrough now and that will not be easy. Please stop giving our team away 3 days early Bub, it don't help.

Well said Bige. Only one thing mate. It’s been pretty easy to guess the Leeds lineup each week if you think about it.
One more point. Ayling, for nearly all season, is one of the worst right backs in the league. And with Harrison in front of him we are struggling even more so. It’s time for others in them roles be it shacks Clarke Beradi shortly fit or Stephens. The right side is piss poor and has to be improved.

Totally agree Gents, we need Bamford and Brown in the squad next week. We have got to put more of our chances away. Let's not get too down We are right there for automatic and if and I say if, we can put another good run together we can be in the top two. MOT.

Got to agree Cork right side is poor, never rated Harrison and Ayling has been horrendous. For me Coyle could have done a job and should not be out on loan. With Shacks in front of him would be 100% better.

I wonder what Kiko's frame of mind is at the moment. He's joined a team top of their league with a world renowned coach and after his first 2 games he's picked the ball out of his net 4 times none of which can reasonably be put down to him. He must be wondering what the hell is going on infront of him.

Foreshaw prob made more mistakes than BPF and he got replaced. IMO out goes Foreshaw ayling and Harrison. Foreshaw not only gave ball away fir the 2nd goal but ran back to stand inside 6 yard box to play pukki onside and leave a tap in . ayling gave the ball away numerous times and when upfield can’t get back when opposing teams break. Harrison. Well. I will just leave it at that. 😳😳.

Let’s pretend we’re borough fans .
Oh no Leeds next week. They will be like a wounded animal after the defeat to Norwich. And now Bamford is back you can bet he’ll find his shooting boots and bag a hatrick. I’m worried if we don’t win we won’t get near the top two.

I've now decided, after yesterdays defeat, that all my lucky charms no longer work, so have got rid of the lot.

My lucky replica centenary FA Cup final Allan Clarke shirt, I've taken to the charity shop.

My lucky horseshoe I've nailed back on the horse. The milkman is pleased.

My lucky 4 leaf clover is on the compost heap along with the lucky heather.

The lucky fluffy dice are in the bin.

I've taken Whitey, the lucky black cat, to the vets. It had to be done, although the wife wasn't very happy, but the urn they put the ashes in looks good on the mantelpiece.

I've had my lucky number 7 tattoo lasered off my arm.

My lucky rabbit's foot I've grafted back onto Limpy.

And finally I've taken the tape off the crossed fingers on my left hand. I can now get both of my gloves on, which is great with all this cold weather about.

Hope this all works as obviously one of them was causing all our run of bad luck.

Oh, nearly forgot. I've also stopped kissing the chimney sweep But that's another story!

Tewit

That made me laugh mainly because I do have what I call my lucky ring that I only bring out when Leeds are in trouble. It dates back to 1974, 9th March to be exact and a home game v Man City. I'm sure it helped get us a 1-0 win thanks to a Lorimer pen infront of 36k. We hit the top of the league after the 3rd game and stayed there all season to finish as Champions and the biggest home attendance was 47,182 for a 5th round tie against Bristol City which we lost. Ah well that's my trip down memory lane done.

Guys, I hink it's worth pointing out that, at the start of the season someone had offered us 2nd place on 3rd Feb with a three point gap to 3rd and a 10 point gap to 7th, we would all have taken it!

See it as a starting point and not an end or a trend. How we finish at the end of the season is about how we do from here on in and not what we've done to get here!

No point going on about who we could or should have signed because we can't do it! Yesterday even at three nil, the players didn't give up and yet thousands of fans left!

Everyone including the players needs to believe! Nobody who posts on here knows who the top two or top six are going to be in April, or you would be down the bookies.

The exciting thing about the future is that it's yet to happen, therefore it can be influenced. What can we do to influence it, get to as many games as you can and cheer like a looney until the final whistle blows! If you heard a player saying" that's it we're doomed, we're going to be in the championship next year, "you probably wouldn't want them playing! I don't think this group of players deserves us to give up on them!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2019 14:02:42
I agree Spanish

I've been looking at the fixture list and there's quite a few games to come where the top 6 or 7 have to play each other and that ensures either or both will drop points.

I feel sure nobody is going to run away with top spot as Wolves did last season so even if it comes down to the last match as it could well do, have you seen the fixture list? Ok a home game would have been nice but I'll take Ipswich away (currently 5pts adrift at the bottom of the table and I don't see that changing much) .

Look at some of the others, of the current top 8 teams only Derby are at home on the final day and that's to WBA. I hope it's done and dusted for us before then though, the play offs are the last resort.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 14:16:04
Agree with both of you. I still think we are top 2, unless another team puts together some incredible run, which is virtually unheard of in this league this season.

03 Feb 2019 14:22:23
I’m never negative. I see it logically. Never over optimistic either.
A question Spain mate.
How can our form not influence
A. Managers decisions
B. Managers team selection
C. Managers formation
D. Players confidence.
E. Players ability.
F Players motivation.

How can u not consider recent form.
Doesn’t make any sense to think this is day 1 of season cause it’s not. It doesn’t matter where we are now.
We post on what we see and anybody that sees promotion from here is wacky backy delusional.

I love how we play and we can tear teams apart but.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 14:37:15
Aus, Bielsa has only one way of playing. he sets his team for the high energy, high pressing game. It will win us more games than we lose but yesterday we came up against a team that matched our energy. There aren't many teams that can do this in the championship but teams i guess will try and follow Norwich others will sit back and defend.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 14:59:49
Precisely. To say as Spanish does is slightly naive.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 15:24:07
Aus “ anyone who sees promotion from here is wacky, backy delusional! ” Well I guess I just have to roll a few joints and offer them to any other delusional fools from here who still actually believe we can be promoted this year! I think there are a few of us still!

In trying to answer your question about form, it’s the coaches job to influence all of your points D, E and F . How he does that working with his coaching team is by your points A, B and C. Bielsa taking the blame for the performance, is part of his way of doing that. I believe we are good enough to win promotion, i believe we have the players to do it. What’s important is that they retain that believe as well and that’s a big part of the coaches job. If that’s slightly naive, count me in!

Now pull up a stool and take a drag! There’s promotion to be won!

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 15:28:55
Sorry Aus, not yet doom ladened. Got to agree with Spanish and the lads. If someone had given us top two at the start we would have said "get real" I prophesied top six/ play offs as reasonable. So to be where we are is a big, big, bonus and I believe with a few tweaks we can regroup and charge on. I believe it's a 5 team run in for promotion so it's a bit of a lottery. Who's to say that we won't be one of those five. Certainly we deserve to be.

I thought we played quite well overall yesterday but I can say that about most teams in the championship at times. The big issue is translating that into chances and being able to convert them into goals. That's the main difference between middle order teams and those that get promotion. In previous weeks we could easily dropped six or more points but we scraped through at the end when teams were more fatigued. What didn't happen was that we went two down with deflected goals and two mistakes by Jansson in quick succession. We didn't lose as many fifty challenges and the opposition didn't run out of steam. Referees are always a bit iffy. What it did expose yet again was when we get into the final third the three main providers simply were not good enough about making opportunities. Hernandez was well off his game - probably not fit after Rotherham. Harrison does not usually contribute - one assist all season. Roberts is not good enough. The pair of them might have potential but they are not there yet, particularly Harrison. We scored again at the death and in previous weeks that would have been enough to get at least a point. We need too many chances to score and we are not creating enough in the first place. This sort of result was bound to happen and if you look at the results in 2019 they are not that great. Clarke made a difference yesterday and ironically I think he will do better against the better teams. Against lesser teams the will double up on him with a packed defence and try to bully him. He was a different player yesterday with more one on ones. He was poor against Rotherham. We should have to rely on him. I like Alioski as a full/ wing back he offers more than Douglas at the moment. Later on in the game yesterday, when he was pushed forward to accommodate Douglas and give us more options, he returned to his previous un productive self. I don't rate him much as a winger. We have struggled for a while once we get into the final third I think Bielsa will have his work cut out sorting the out wide situation and number 10. Interesting to see what happens at Middlesborough.

Well summed up hesslian1, we’ve known about the Harrison and Alioski issues and their shortfalls for a while now. Alioski works hard, if he would just stay on his feet instead of throwing himself to the ground, no ones buying it. Harrison is not good enough and IMO gets game time because we have no or little other options, this comes back to my point we’ve known for a while and should have done something about it in transfer window.

Aaron Lennon will always get respect of Leeds fans but being honest we should be looking at better players unless he can play now like he was when we sold him.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 12:39:34
Pretty much agree Hess. Players who we rely on were not at the races and players we know are not up to it, proved it. Clarke certainly is one to watch but as yet is only ready for a second half appearance. We need to get back to the Revie way and be far more clinical with the ball and cut out our silly mistakes.

Too many people with an off day, missplaced passes, caught in posession etc. I thought the major contributor was the omission of Phillips with his efforts to break up play and his ability to ping a pass. Hopefully with a lot of work on the training pitch and a slight change of personnel we can regroup and go again next week.

Agreed Leodis. I feel we will bounce back from this once again, and go on a run. My biggest concern from yesterday was Ayling, who is such a talented player but seems totally out of sorts at the minute. Alioski should retain the LB berth, and Kal comes in for Forshaw. With Bamford and Brown getting game time in the coming weeks, we can still target a top 2 finish. On, on, on!

Not a negative post, just realistic, think Norwich were the better team on the day and they will move clear (IMO) if you look at there next few games, little worried with the form of Sheff U, so we need to get going again, poor all round yesterday, wouldn't want the play offs especially with Boro and WBA.
I think (IMO) our issues are in the wide areas, Aloiski showed again 2nd half he struggles as a winger, Clarke not full game level yet, hernandez, roofe, Roberts not wide players, and as for Harrison, what pep saw him in I don't know, i would like to see 352,532, back 3, wing backs, Forshaw, Phillips, Hernandez in middle, roofe bamford upfront
as far as the window went, disappointed, this is our chance to kick on, question is, is it money, or was it MB saying he didn't need players, either way massive gamble, as a couple of loan signings would benefit the team.

I am a tad worried by our stats. Bielsa says himself that we are wasteful with our chances. To my mind we need a Gayle, Pukhi, Assombalonga or Depauy. Of Roofe has scored some goals, but there are those in the division who have scored more, despite having much less chances created for them. We are often no where near ruthless enough. Middlesborough next, at a time when they have just beaten a much strengthened, already strong Brom away. Six wins in a row, followed by mediocre form. Strange times, strange division.

Yeah the wheels are well and truly off now. Unless Bamford comes good and starts slotting then home we will start slipping down the table now. Simply not good enough and overperformed up to January. Sounds like a doom ladened prophecy Alf. Not like you.
Whereas my prophecy at the start was for top 6 play off spot I don't think we will cascade as you think. IF we do not solve our problems quickly then I do not see a top two finish but certainly a comfortable play off spot. Which I think at the start of the season most of us would have taken. After all this is early days and we probably have, overperformed.

Think with Bamford, Browne and KP in the team, Roofe after a rest on the left, Clarke, Hernandez and Roberts, all firing we will be a different team. At the moment both our full backs Ayling and Douglas are out of form. Dallas started to look the part when he played there and him back fit would be a bonus . Might be tempted to play Davies or Shacks at full back? . Also miss Beradi's commitment and fight . Think Alioski is a little shy of the rough stuff. 16 games to go, the role of the stalking horse might suit us and put together a good run to finish the season.

The only plus point from yesterday's match is that we have another striker back from injury. Hopefully Bamford will add a bit in attack either as a starter or from the bench. Mmmmm. Bit of a strange game that one. Thought Norwich were good, played well against our system and kept up with our fitness. They were slightly fortunate with all 3 goals but you make your own luck and have to be there to finish!
We as usual were excessively wasteful and lightweight. Lot of huff and puff without the finish. Def bossed the first half but that means nothing if you don't finish! Disappointed with Ayling and Harrison. The whole team made too many mistakes and gave ball away too often. We don't look solid in defence and def don't need to play from the back 100% of the time. Good to see bambi start repaying his debt. I do feel that we missed the boat in January and that may be our undoing. Fingers crossed we can improve cause this form isn't clinical enough to get us auto.

03 Feb 2019 08:17:54
Fair post Aus, it did feel strange, particularly in the first half, we had played ok and were 0-2 down. Need some of these chances to go in.

One glimmer again is that even with 0-3 and fans leaving all around the ground, we keep going, looking to get one back. Really feel if we had got a goal early in the second half we could have turned the game around.

As Wex pointed out yesterday, Clarke wasn’t used enough. He had one really good run and cross but then we weren’t playing through him enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2019 08:58:14

Yknow Spanish. As silly as it sounds I never write is off even at 1-3 with 3 minutes left I was thinking, pop another one in boys and then go for it.
We are capable of taking everybody out and are never ever finished until whistle goes. But.
Need to be more clinical. I mean if our conversion rate was as good as Norwich, Sheffield or brum we would be 20 clear.
I was thinking I can’t remember anybody hitting a shot hard and clean and on target. We don’t make goalie save enough. When we are on target they are wimpish efforts generally.

A lot of folk saying we were beaten by the better side. I didn't quite see that. However I do accept all points of view. But as i saw it-
They scored the first after a v poor challenge and then with a deflected free kick.
They scored their second after forshaw caught in possession and again a wicked deflection straight in front of pukki.
We have an obvious penalty turned down.
We have a player get flattened by a keeper outside his box and he only gets a yellow!?
We scored and its dissallowed.
We dominated for the first half hour but create few clear cut chances.
They score third when again we get caught in possession but then the shots goes through 2 leeds players legs into the net.
We hit the bar.
Their keeper simulates a head butt.
And the ref was carp.
Talk about getting the rub of the green!
Yes Norwich pressed, marked, tackled v well in the 2nd half but they had a 2 goal lead to protect and did it well but what a position to be in.
I feel we had a bit of luck like this early doors but its run out now.
I must say otherwise the teams weren't too different.
I like most was disappointed and would have liked to see a couple of new players in jan to freshen us up and strengthen.
I would like to see this possession and lots of attempts turning into goals as that's what wins games. We don't score enough for the possession and attempts we have.
I also think Harrison is totally woeful. City could have sent us Fodden! Lol.
This is a real test for MB and Radz now.
All Leeds fans would have taken our current position at the start of the season but the last few weeks have become squeaky bum time. So now have to show great determination and character and a little luck to see this through. Forget spygate and MB stop telling the opposition our line ups. There are so many twists and turns to happen in this league. Its going to be a rollercoaster. But .
We are still joint top. We av 16 games to go. We have players like Bamford and Brown coming back. We still believe. We can still do it. In Bielsa we have the right man.
How another unbeaten run would be welcomed now. 😀. Keep MOT.

Penalty? What penalty? Surely you don't mean Roofe? That was never a penalty! He Dived. nobody touched him. BPF stayed on the pitch a few weeks ago for leading with the knee and then following with the foot during a jump. He should have been off, no doubt. So their keeper fouled our player outside the box, yep, that's a yellow. Ayling's goal shouldn't (and wasn't) given, quite rightly. They out-classed us in the 2nd half. The better team won. That's not easy to say as a Leeds fan losing top spot, but it's the truth. It may have cost us even more in the long run. A season defining game as the Sly Sports commentary team called it. It was the difference between 6 points clear or 2nd place. Come the end of the season, we might not even be in the play-offs! Middlesbrough next who, like so many others, will be licking their lips. Yes I'm still feeling dejected this morning but I think we might be in trouble now. Obviously we've still got the 50 point deduction to come for spying.

Great post Phil, luck does play a big role in games and yes it probably does level out over the season. Kiko left his lucky boots in Spain!

Good post Phil, the pressure is on now for a result next week to keep up there. Last night things did go against us, but we really have to start taking more of our chances and cut down on the mistakes.

Said it like it was southern, we got out thought and out fought. Need to put this week down to a bad one and hopefully move on. Promotion is a way off and still needs to be earnt, too many players had an off day, Philips back in for forshaw.

Southern the penalty was the foul on roberts in the first half.
And even Nigel Martyn states that krul should have been sent off on his twitter.
Have seen both incidents like these given in other games.
What I was trying to say in all my text was about getting the rub of the green. Small margins can mean 3 points either way. that's all!
