Sorry Ed, stupid iPhone.....

Do you think the transfer policy is loan biased as the club don't want a load of championship quality players on the books on 2-3 year deals when/if we get promoted?

Risky strategy but just a thought that there may be a valid (if risky plan) reason behind our dealings other than just a lack of funds? {Ed003's Note - Most championship clubs use the loan market,as for 2-3 year deals you mention most chairmen offer say 1 or 2 year deals with an option of 12 months so the club is then in control }

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Trouble is Ed, if the club was in control we would have received fee's for beckford, Johnson & kilkenny. I still think the better players should be given min 3 years deals {Ed001's Note - or you would have got stuck with unhappy players on comparatively high wages.}

Agree0 Disagree0

It takes two to agree a deal, chairman to offer it and player to say yes. Not as easy as just a blanket everybody gets a three year deal or else. Bosman left chairman with little or no control of these matters anymore.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2012 21:25:27
Just a thought here....there's been countless posts about it being bad to go for loan deals, I agree to a certain extent although players like Andros probably wouldn't come otherwise so it needs to be sensible and players we either couldn't attract or afford in a perm (ie players of true quality). There's has also been lots of speculation as to whether we have any cash to spend or not (which really is speculation as we've been told by Grayson and Bates there's IS money there, albeit not a huge amount).

Take into account that Bates has said he expects promotion, do you think the transfer policy is more focused on loanees

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Seen as Grayson said after game against burnley ,Don't panic if we don't bring any more players in be4 Saturday as they wouldn't be able to play .I would say he's going to spend all his budget on loans ,I get the inpresion that we are after best players since Bates gave cack well money to spend .It says wet spam were after Townsend on news now ,Olimpic stadia might have been a factor in us getting him ahead off them though .

Can I just say I have never wanted Leeds to lose a game. I have supported them for over forty years through good times and bad. I am so pleased we won Burnley, however I do not think that Simon Grayson can get us promoted. People say give him until the end of the season but why the defence is no better now than we he took over three years ago. He has tried player after player and still not come close to getting a good back four. If we wait until the season finishes it is another season wasted. Now is the time to strike and bring in a new manager to drive us forward. MOT

Believable14 Unbelievable7

Good post mate thought it was just me thinking the above

Agree13 Disagree3

Yes I agree, any good team starts at the back then goes forward.

Agree11 Disagree1

Like who? who else has the passion and commitment to Leeds that Grayson has?

Agree6 Disagree10

To the third reply, I have passion and commitment to Leeds but that does not make me a good manager, just like it does not make SG a good manager

Agree9 Disagree1

I have the passion and commitment to Leeds but it doesn't make me a good manager. Defence is still ropey after 3 years. Maybe we need a new coaching staff. O'Leary wasn't a good manager but had an excellent coach in Brian Kidd.

Agree7 Disagree2

Totally agree, I've been saying for ages its a coaching issue. How can so many defenders all be incapable?! We need a defensive coach in there to shake things up and make them work. Get some proper partnerships working - off the pitch as well as on it. We need to know that if we've got, say, Bruce and Kissa in there, they're going to be solid. They're more than capable of it, we just need someone in there showing them how it's done!

Agree2 Disagree0

Right, so passion and commitment means nothing. except that he will work his arse off to get things right, unlike some chancer who only cares about his pay packet.

Agree1 Disagree3

Passion and commitment do not make up for limited ability

Keogh has gone back so has the reading goalie so we do have room for more loanees

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Disappointed the gk has gone back to reading - thought he looked great. I reckon another gk will be signed seeing chewbacca staying at tranmere.

Glad Keogh has gone, started well but been poor recently and never been a fan of a striker who doesn't score. I would be shocked if we're not chasing another striker (whether on loan or permanent). A decent RB, CB and centr midfielder must surely be on the cards and quickly. Fingers crossed for a positive transfer window which keeps the moaners at bay and gets us firing again for a proper push for promotion

Grayson haters....
Do you really think that any of the managers you have all listed in the last week would really make a differance? Sign of a good manager is working with limited resources and still doing a good job. With the investment in the squad were did you expect us to be? A new manager isnt going to bring about a new sense of direction for papa smurf hes still gonna be as tight as a nuns..... Rant over MOT

Believable13 Unbelievable7

Funny that because Sunderland fans said same before O'Neil became Manager, also Palace fans before Freedman, I could go on - thinking of Norwich and Southampton recent Managers but my point has been made..! Clearly a new broom sweeps clean one lucky win doesn't gloss over the seasons poor performances exceptions Forrest - Doncaster

Agree3 Disagree4

The fact you describe the win over Burnley as "lucky" invalidates anything else you say - because the victory was fully deserved. If you'd gone to the game you would have known - and if you tell me you did go to the game, you must have watched it with your eyes shut!

Agree6 Disagree3

I was at the Burnley game. We were fortunate to get a win. If we were playing against 11 men we probably would have lost. We huffed and puffed with little penetration. Their player was unlucky to be sent off. As often happens when one team doen't make or take chances the other team scores as was the case here. Then an own goal from what otherwise would have been a poor corner and a goal keeping error in the 'blackpool keeper' style. Lucky to win but could have lost against 10 men. Not great but who knows we might have turned a corner. MOT

Agree1 Disagree5

We'll have to agree to disagree - we weren't lucky at all! Burnley were lucky not to end the game with 8 or 9 men for a start!

MOT!!

Agree4 Disagree1

Unfortunately now every game we win will be hailed as "lucky" by those who want us to completely write this season off by bringing a new manager in now.

Agree3 Disagree0

I posted earlier saying we were lucky to win - just huffing and puffing against 10 men. Thats how its been for weeks now and I have seen the games. Having said that I am not one of those shouting for Grayson to be sacked just pointing out what seems to bet he obvious. Just look at the two Burnley games (we wern't doing much at home until they went down to ten men and then only in the second half- the first game we were poor and somehow scored twice and somehow they didn't), Watford, Derby, Blackpool etc. Nottingham Forest were the worst team I have seen for a long time but you can only beat what's in front of you but it wasn't very much on the night. Nevertheless Grayson should be given more time to take us forward. MOT

Stop trying to get players on loan. You get no where in doing so

Believable3 Unbelievable6

03 Jan 2012 15:51:08
I hope everyone appreciates what a mega signing Andros Townsend is for us. I know its only on loan, but the guy is pure class! He's of Prem quality, two footed and is as easily as good if not better than Gradel. If we could only add a RB (Lichaj), a CB and one more midfielder then we defo have a squad for challenging for promotion.

Our Attacking presence of Snodgrass, Howson, Nunez, Townsend, then Pugh and Clayton holding is very strong. Add that to an on form Mccormack and Becchio...with Somma to come back we have a squad capable of going on a run to at least keep us in the Play off positions.

There has been something wrong at the club in recent weeks, whether it be team morale, tactical or just a very bad dip in form, but Monday's game has shown there is still some belief and fighting spirit left at the club! I say get rid of the dead wood, invest in a couple of decent prem quality players and all push on together for the rest of the season!

We are not going to win every game...so im calling all fans to be realistic and give SG till then of the season to show us what he's made of! We need the fans back at the ground singing 'we are Leeds' louder than ever! MOT

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Grayson out.he has had long enough and we are still garbage

Agree8 Disagree11

Watching the game yesterday we deserved to win even if it was late so wouldn't say we was garbage

Agree5 Disagree5

Claytons too attack minded to hold but i agree, Grayson haters are just nit picking for any excuse for him to go and he is gonna prove all of them wrong

Agree4 Disagree6

He's had one LUCKY result against 10 men..
Forget about possession stats corners etc we have been 2nd best all season.. I love the Leeds but Grayson needs a lesson in scouting options - the back four is Sunday league

To all those who want SG out, you are barking up the wrong tree lads, it's Pappa smurf we need out.

I posted a comment pre-season with the idea of the fans buying the club. I have got 1250 fans prepaid to put £500 each up and this is just word of mouth at the moment.

If this is a genuine chance it can be done it we would need another 40-50k takers.

thousts please.....

MOT with pappa smurf

Believable3 Unbelievable8

MOT without pappa...

Agree1 Disagree3

I would be up for it but dont think we would get enough intrest

Agree2 Disagree0

Nice idea but I think your in dream land pal. Im happy paying my season ticket and praying that a billionaire will take us over!

MOT

Agree1 Disagree2

1250 fans word of mouth! When it comes to putting the money up it will be nearer 50. Lets face it, better the devil you know than living in a dream world.

Agree3 Disagree1

Whats the long term plan there then? After 40-50k people get 500quid to buy the club then where does the money for running costs etc come from? If it's from the income generated by the club we will still be in the same position in terms of how much we can spend, with the added bonus of 50thousand equal shareholders thinking they know what is best for the club. Good dream but not in anyway practical.

Agree2 Disagree0

Stockport went this route and look where they are! Pointless even continuing the thread {Ed001's Note - to be fair they were in free fall before the fans bought it out.}

Agree0 Disagree0

And who would then run the club? You? I am not keen on Bates but at least he knows how to run a club and I'd rather that than somebody who doesn't.

I’m glad for Grayson that we won yesterday as I suspect a defeat would have made his position untenable. I think, like a lot of Leeds fans, that I prefer “one of us” in charge. All managers make mistakes but I think that generally Grayson has got more right than wrong so far.
However for him to deliver promotion this season he will have to be ruthless with his squad and show the door to those that don’t represent good value for money in wages terms or that are simply not good enough. He needs to change the balance of his squad because we have centre backs and strikers who are not playing but we are short on cover in midfield and full back.
So far Grayson has tinkered with his squad during transfer windows (both summer and winter). This time I think he needs a bit of a clearout so that he can bring new players in.
For what it’s worth these are the players I think he should move on:
Rachubka
O’Brien
two from Bromby, Bruce, Kisnorbo
Brown
Keogh
Paynter
He then needs to add a backup GK, first choice RB, first choice CB, first choice CM and first choice striker. That’s quite a radical thing to do mid-season as there’s a risk the new signings won’t gel but, in my view, the time for tinkering is over.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

I too am glad that Grayson is still in a job and in all likelihood he will have at the very least until the end of the season to show he is still the right man for the job. However I do not agree with the "one of us" cry when it comes to mamagers/players. We had a spate of this in the eighties and look where it got us!

Agree1 Disagree4

Totally agree mate, well said

Agree2 Disagree3

I would like a local business man in charge to invest some money sensibly and let SG get us back where we belong

Agree0 Disagree3

Need to get rid of Parker too.

Agree6 Disagree2

Dream on , like dreamers do.
We need reality-people

Agree3 Disagree2

The REALITY is that despite a really bad run we're still only a point off the play-off places. Is there anyone on here who wouldn't have taken that 3 years ago when Grayson arrived?

Thought not...

SG's quote re his celebration after Ross' winning goal vs Burnley, which featured a mad sprint down the touchline towards the kop;

'I'd been struggling with my knee for a few weeks and at one stage I was going to go down on it, but I would probably have been crippled for the rest of the season," he laughed.

"Those celebrations and the emotion of it told you what this place is all about. I'm passionate about my job and my football club and it a massive result for us.I'm delighted for everybody, particularly for the supporters.'

That's who I want in charge. Someone who wants to get promoted as much as us. Love it.

Believable13 Unbelievable6

Can't understand the people who disagree with this at all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Jan 2012 12:51:34
Don't know why everyone is congratulating grayson, he took an injury to actually get players playing in their natural positions and yet again showed absolutely no bravery in his subs by taking strikers off as per. I think the 3 points gloss over the current situation and i may be wrong but it seems as if a few players aren't happy under grayson.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

He brought on a striker!! and if i recalled scored the winning goal!!!!

Agree4 Disagree2

He brought on two strikers and replaced Paddy with Sam. I'd have said that showed a lot of bravery. The anti-Grayson lot really do have a problem with the truth - and they love talking sh*te...

Agree1 Disagree1

He only brought sam on for paddy because we had no defenders on the bench and he might of brought strikers on but surely when you are behind at home you take defensive players off for strikers especially when the opposition are down to 10 men. Can clearly remember him taking off ross (championship top scorer at the time) and replacing him with pugh (left back or more defensive midfielder) when we were behind at home

My mate is a Halifax fan and said vary was a machine for them. 15goals already for fleetwood this season and beck ford came from non league, may well be worth a punt as promotion chasers west ham are also sniffing.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I think you mean Vardy and yes he is on fire!

Agree3 Disagree2

Nah, rubbish. Being able to score for a s**t non league side, doesn't make you eligible to play for Leeds. Maybe try league 2 first and then get back to us.........

Agree3 Disagree1

This s**t non-league side are second in the conference & look like going up. They've knocked out two league sides in the FA Cup, have a stadium that would shame many lower league sides & have several prolific goal scorers of which Vardy heads the list. Would like to see him given a chance but as a Fleetwood Town supporter too, I'd like to keep him on the coast! Cod Army! MOT!

Agree1 Disagree1

Billy Paynter scored for a league 1 team and look what happened to him, Beckford scored for fun in the Unibond league and look how he did for us goalscoring wise

Agree0 Disagree1

Vardy? is that you trying to get yourself a move? don't you have some decorating to do? he is not good enough to play for leeds.........end of story. goodnight

Agree1 Disagree1

Those on this site righting off Vardy cos he is currently scoring for a lower league side show your naivity and make Leeds fans look like mugs. Examples I can immediately think of from 4th tier teams are Kevin Keegan from Scunthorpe, Ian Rush from Chester City, Lee Dixon from Chester City, Alan Clarke from Walsall.............end of story, goodnight my a--e! {Ed003's Note - a few championship clubs have been scouting him...he is raw, but has pace to burn,with some coaching he could play at championship level }

I've read and listened to so much rubbish today even after we've won a game!

First and foremost shame on any Leeds "fans" who were hoping the team would lose against Burnley. Absolutely disgraceful. I hope you're all having sleepless nights. One person came on Yorkshire Radio after the game and he sounded completely gutted! Clown!

Also I'd like to point out that we were NOT lucky in any sense to win that game. We were the better side before the sending off. In the second half we threw everything at them but nothing would fall for us. How they ever took the lead I'll never know, but thankfully the players rediscovered the battling qualities which, to be fair, have always been a trademark of Simon Grayson's teams.

I'd also like to add that Burnley were very lucky to finish the game with ten men. Their main tactic seemed to be to see how far they could kick Townsend. Their keeper should have been sent off very early in the second half due to the most ridiculous display of time wasting I have ever witnessed.

If Townsend is a taster of the quality we are bringing in this month, promotion is still very much within reach. Keep the faith, and let's not worry too much about the Arsenal game - it's just not important.

MOT!!

P.S. All you who want Di Matteo/Poyet/Hughes etc etc to come in - did you see what that winner meant to Simon Grayson. HE'S ONE OF US! Get behind him!!

Believable17 Unbelievable2

I partly agree. I would love Simon Grayson to get us to the Premier League and I'd be 100% behind the man. I'm just losing faith in him (That doesn't mean I want the guy sacked, don't get me wrong). Some of the team selections of late make me think he is desperate and changing certian things when maybe he shouldn't. We've had injuries and that can't be helped, but some of his benches over the past few games have been poor and with the exception of McCormack scoring last night, I don't think they change our game or make an impact. I'm behind Leeds United and lets hope we push on, but I can understand the fans who dislike Grayson.

Agree2 Disagree10

I take your points but the question is who could come in and

a) do any better?

and b) match SG in terms of passion for the club?

The other thing is, in the whole time SG has been at the club we have always been in the upper echelons of whichever league we've been in. Ok we've had some terrible results and the odd bad patch, but the moaners would have far more credence if we were struggling in the bottom six.

It's important to keep the bigger picture in mind. The moaners seem to forget this.

Agree12 Disagree3

I don't think there is a black and white answer where SG is concerned as he is doing the job under very difficult circumstances - some of the problems at the club are out of his control.
On the dark side he seems to be a very poor tactician - I am sick of being at games over the last 2 years both home and away and scratching my head at some of the teams put out and dodgy substitutions. Regardless to whose fault it is once the dressing room goes it is very difficult to get the players support back!
Whilst I like the fact he is a Leeds lad and cares that would include 100% of the Revie Stand and I wouldn't have any of them including me as manager.
If he goes I would be very strongly in favour of Billy Davies who in my opinion was doing a great job at Forest.
If SG clicks and becomes successful - lets face it it wouldn't take much in this league - I would be far happier but how long do we wait?

Agree1 Disagree10

To be fair to grayson his sub were taken out of his hand yesterday because of Paddy being replaced by Sam who was our impact sub

Agree10 Disagree0

Billy Davies - NOOOOOOOOOO! And what's all this nonsense about the dressing room "going"? You're probably listening to stupid rumours. It didn't look to me as though there are any problems yesterday.

Agree9 Disagree1

I agree with who could come in and do a better job. Who will come in with next to no budget and have to be content with working the loan market. We've got a couple of gems in White, Lees and Clayton, but we need to add experience. Great Danny Pugh has signed, I think he has done well this season so far, but we need more experience.

Season ticket prices will be out soon and no doubt there will be a rise. I can see some fans deciding to pick their games opposed to turning up week in week out for let's face it this season we have been mediocre at best and Keb won't like that.

Agree0 Disagree8

Season ticket prices are frozen for existing holders. I'm not surprised you missed this bit of news, Bates' detractors don't seem to be shouting too loudly about this!

Agree7 Disagree0

To the person who replies NOOOOOOOOO! to Billy Davies. We are all entitled to our opinion - Why not BD and how do you know the dressing room is not lost? Are you related to the ER cleaning ladies twice removed second cousin?
In above I state nothing is black and white and part of that is down to the fact that the majority of fans can only judge on what they see that is the body language of players(not just in a match of 10 v 11) but week in week out players not giving 100 % and SG giving them a good slagging off for it(rightly so) the rest is based on the fragile paper talk/rumour but you seem so sure of yourself I wonder how/Why/What/when/who??

Agree0 Disagree7

I ask exactly the same of you my friend. All over the place I keep hearing the "dressing room lost" stuff. Do YOU know different? Are you the club cat? I'm judging from the players' reactions yesterday. They certainly looked a together group to me. Just because a team goes through a bad patch doesn't always mean the manager has "lost" the players. Ever heard of a loss of confidence?

Billy Davies. Arrogant, nasty little man. Requires a chairman to back him with ££££££. Ken Bates. There you go.

Agree6 Disagree0

Im not the Darth Vader-esque nooo! screamer about BD, but why did he fall out with the Forest board, no investment, you really think he would work with bates? and plus its safe to say most leeds fans think hes a w****r

Agree6 Disagree0

Why don't you tick the boxes to suit your argument a bit more??
