New songs theme again. A play on the 'we're going down but we'll be back' one from a few years ago. How about 'We're still down but we're coming back. '.

Pontus is god, every day, every Year. Get the lad a descent contract and we can be looking upwards.

SGE That could prove impossible. I mean how low would Leeds fans need to be at that point? In the Earth's core?

Ha Ha clever input GIW, Still happy to be Leeds even in the core of the Earth. And thanks Lucas for god Pontus. Against Villa the game could of gone either way. The second half was much better but it still looked like a mistake from Pontus with a sliding tackle could have set Adomah free.

But we were a little bit lucky there and a great goal from Roofe settled the game. Great effort from every one but we hadn't made it without Pontus and Barts. Bring on the Seagulls. This time Leeds will ask the questions. At last a team to believe in. Still in China but new club.

Well thought the whole team did us proud yesterday, Taylor showing his best form, Roofe more central that's where he will score. And douks on left who would have thought. Had to come back onto his right foot a lot but got some great crosses in. Sacko problem all match for them and Wood scores again. Phillips doing a great job and Vera played well. Another good shift from defence. They were lucky to only lose 2-0 we could have had 4. Time for Brighton to feel the force. With Bridcutt and Pablo on way back and o kane dallas mowatt and ant think we can handle the christmas rush as long as no seriuos injuries. Would love to see a pacey left winger arrive in jan. mot onwards and upwards.

Sorry to be controversial with this old chestnut but. having watched Chris Wood for the whole match he was for the most part a spectator, with balls hit up to him met with an amateur first touch and crosses pinged in (not many I agree) either missed or ricocheted away aimlessly. Whilst I applaud the effort and more importantly, the result I still feel that we are lacklustre in front of goal and for all our huffing and puffing we did not work the keeper enough. I know he scored and I know he is our leading scorer and if he keeps up a goal a game then I am shot down in flames but, for instance, last night that was Sackos goal. Yes I know it would not have gone in without Wood but my question mark is his contribution over 90mins?

With you leodis, but he keeps scoring. If its free five yards out he will score but most his goals are deflected to him or a defensive mistake. Would love him to pick ball up 15 yard out and go for it or get a header like roofies.

If nothing else think Wood has done really well defensively on top of his goals this season. The back four are getting a lot of plaudits (quite rightly) for keeping the goals against column number low but if you look at corners and free kicks Wood gets to more than a few, which is important when you think how pants we have been against set pieces for a long time, also put in a few good tackles up front. As for his general play and not doing much up the other end I remember a pundit talking about Michael Owen back in his pool days. He had had a really bad game then bundled the winner in from a yard out in the last minute of extra time. The pundit said you don't drop a striker in form, it doesn't matter if he plays badly or contributes little to the game because you know all he needs is one chance. Wood in this form contributes goals, that's the only thing he needs to contribute right now, everything else is icing on the cake. As for it been Sacko's goal, he should have passed rather than shot anyway, turned a sure tap in into a gamble for glory, Woods goal either way.

Agree gummie can't drop him he is scoring every game, but let's not start using his defensive skills to defend him like everyone did with morrison. Wood is not a striker that's strikes fear into defenders, but he svores. that's his job.

If defenders aren't scared of him BIGE then that's great in my book. CB's stick to forwards they are wary of like glue, if they continue to stupidly give our in form striker space then i'm all for it!

Exactly gummie its working for him. Defenders seem to forget about him but that's part due to having to put two on sacko. Good luck to him hope he score every game. As I said he is doing his job.

Back in the day I remember a young striker called Gary Lineker who did bu**er all but stick the ball in the back of the net - many times (often from the penalty spot) . Not that many people complained and he went on to have a reasonable career. Wonder where he is now? anyway, the point is - i'm happy to have a striker who scores regularly. What else should a striker really do?

Yes he is a riddle. as Bige points out, most of his goal are deflections or tap ins but to me it, s like in 5 a side, playing a wall pass and praising the wall. As a player he does not instil great confidence as a threat to any defence but bottom line; long may he reap the rewards of others hard work and skill.

Great day yesterday, poor first half but Gary woke em up in the second. Delighted for roofey his hard work and graft is beginning to pay off, was willing sako to put that ball in the net at the end Will do his confidence the world of good to get a goal too, I am recovering slowly this morning after celebrating the win and then going on an epic bender with 2 fellow Leeds fans, in at 4 am 😵😎 happy hung over Sunday everyone 😲😂.

DJ. Monky man does seem to be able to work his magic at half time. Not the first time they have come out looking a different team in the second half. Long time since we had a MANAGER (for that's what he is) that could do that.

What a superb problem for Garry. When all are fit, who does he drop. The defensive midfield looked strong over these last few games and not too many complaints about the No 10 role either. So, messrs Bridcutt, O'Kane and Henandez, train hard and maybe we can squeeze you in somewhere when you return, although another good performance on Friday and it will be even harder to justify dropping anyone. Remember this squad has got us to 4th any January additions must be very carefully chosen. After the rush of Christmas games coming up it will be a test of the squad (and of Garry's rotation plans) . I know it's early but my Christmas wish is for no more injuries.

Spot on leodis. What a great dilemma to be in. You'd have thought the three you mentioned would've walked back into the team as soon as they were fit but it's not the case. Competition for places can only be good as the eleven that are selected will all be playing for the shirt. We're on a great run and I wouldn't have expected much from the Brighton game, but I'm hoping we take the game to them like at Norwich and Sheff Weds to keep us in fourth. MM.

What's going on with Bridcutt? Not the best of games but a win and up to 4th place, and there I was stating we would struggle to make top six . The whole championship has in recent weeks taken a strange turn clubs we /I thought would be all but unbeatable losing, badly if you include Reading . Is it to early to say that maybe this division is open for underdog. we are putting out results without Brid, O'Kane and PH .

I think we are coming good at the right time. With games coming thick and fast over the Christmas period we need to keep pace with the top teams and not leave ourselves chasing too many points in the new year. O'Kane has been playing dog. In and out with a couple of injuries but not been out much. Looking forward to getting Hernandez and Bridcutt back in the squad and it was good to see Mowatt come on yesterday. Here's hoping he can find a bit of form. I thought Taylor was excellent again yesterday and just hope he's enjoying his football that much he will want to stay. He's playing as well now as he's ever done and maybe (fingers crossed) he might decide to stay. Roofe is looking better every game and now he's broke his duck, expect to see a few more goals from him. For me though, player of the season and put another faultless display in yesterday was Luke Ayling. As Boston said in another thread 'what a find'. Got to be bargain of the season and looks premier league class to me. Oh yeah and Ronnie Viera ain't too shabby either! MM.

luke Ayling I agree has come in and performed will not argue that he has been a great addition. Thought Bridcutt when fit again would walk into squad, but as MM has pointed out Viera and Philips have covered . I also would like to put in a shout SD who caused Villa problems with his pace and passing . For me Barkley has been an excellent captain, pilot a bit off yesterday but what a difference, even Cooper seems to have improved . I believe I read that Middles have put Rhoads on transfer list! I have never been so delighted to be wrong .

Thought Ronnie had a great game especially for one so young . Also thought Sakho did really well, took some pressure off the defence, a little bit of fine tuning on his game and he could develop into a really good player.

Top player at this level IMO. Think he may be a bit too expensive for us though!

04 Dec 2016 16:01:14
Yes please. He won midds promotion last season with his goals. He knows the championship which is what is needed in a January transfer window. It's never the easiest time to come into a team as you've got no pre season so have to hit the ground running. MC no foreign imports in January please.

{Ed001's Note - hmmmm it was Rhodes that was the cause of all the trouble there that saw Karanka walk out on the club. I am not so sure you do want him mate.}

04 Dec 2016 18:32:56
Ed001 We have a fairly decent record turning around problem players.

04 Dec 2016 19:24:47
If we had stupid money to throw around then yes but we have around £8m worth of players on loan that most of us would like to keep add Rhodes and your looking at around a £20m spend, just can't see it. Also the big word of warning is that managers obviously don't think he can make the step up, Prem teams never table offers for him and he can't buy a game at Middlesbrough. £12m plus a prem wage is a lot to stump up for a 6 month stint if we go up. We are only really looking for cover so wouldn't we be better putting in a loan request for a young player like Akpom or Sanogo from Arsenal (both available this window from reports i've seen around the web) ? or if we did want to go big then what about Defoe? it would be ambitious and we would have to totally break the wage structure but would cost less than half what Rhodes would, not a doubt in my mind would send us up and he still scores regularly in the prem so it would sort out our striker for next season too, just a thought.

05 Dec 2016 00:57:24
Gummie No way will Rhodes cost 12m. Try half, maybe 6.5m. Your post still makes sense. Defoe would be a very good addition.
