On recent form Alioski has more to offer than Douglas at left back/ wing back. Alioski is not good enough as a winger but is still better than Harrison,

Alioski has scored 5 and made as many - that’s not too bad as a winger.

Better than Harrison. His delivery as a winger is not good enough didn't say he didn't score goals.

Is it me or coincidence that we have been without Phillips for 4 games and not got the points? Think we need to drop ayling for shack lose Harrison play Bamford for roofer with Roberts and don't tell the team until as late as possible.

I see Mings has got away with stamping on an opponents head (causing him to have hospital treatment) because the referee saw the incident and didn't see the need to take action. If it had been Jannson or Cooper they would no doubt have faced a lengthy ban.
And people wonder why we have a siege mentality. The football authorities really are corrupt.

Absolutely Clarke. No consistency at all, especially when LUFC are involved.

Clarke 1-0 When did this first come to your attention? LMAO. Two names for ya. First is Sepp, second Blatter. Football or soccer as it is also known is the sport which involves the most amount of money in the world. It's number 1. Where's there's gambling and bribery opportunities, there's going to be unfairness and corruption.

Captain Cooper got a 6 match ban for doing similar to what Mings did, Krul isn't being charged for the incident with Bambam either. Speaking of Krul, we're not Barcelona 😂🤣😂.

Seems quite farcical that a player can commit what the police and courts would consider ABH, but because it happened on a football pitch and the ref is incompetent, the football authories will not (generally) take any action. If a so-called fan did the same inside the stadium or elsewhere they could be looking at up to a five year stretch and very large fine. The football authorities need to get their priorities right and sought this out and other stuff like honest Ollie 'Daley' Watkins and his ilk - rather than get their collective knickers in a twist over 'Spygate'.

Someone must make a challenge on the inconsistency of the football authorities, how can one club player be banned and another club player not get anything, this wouldn’t have in law, so it shouldn’t happen in football.

Speaking of ABH, if Reading had the balls they could ask the cops to look into it. I'm seem to remember drunken Duncan getting sent down for some misdemeanor on the pitch in Scotland.

I also think bamford will get us over the line but we do need to tighten up our defence. Douglas for me is key too.

Douglas has been disappointing for a while. I know he’s had injuries but still has looked a shadow of early season form. Don’t get me started on Ayling! Funny thing is I’d play him against boro due to them being a bunch of giants.

Gave my thoughts on the starting eleven against Boro below. If (please no) Pablo doesn't make it, and given the height of the opposition, how would you feel about going with a back three? - adding Halme for his own semi-freakish height. That could free Alioski and (yes) Ayling to act more as wing-backs.

For the one game KP could go further forward with Klich given freer reign at 10, with Roberts and Roofe either side of Bamford. Obviously bringing on Clarke after half time to give either Roofe or Klich a break, hopefully swapping Brown for the other (or Roberts) with around 25 to go. Possibly also Shack for Ayling at some point - to help give Ayala and friends a collective total breakdown.

Agree with a few people on here. I certainly feel better when Douglas is on the pitch. Think we need to put alioski back on left wing with bamford as the lead man.

I would have Bamford and Douglas in the starting line up and definitely have Brown on the bench, the side needs freshening up a bit. A good win on Saturday and we will be ok.

Just been looking at the stats for Boro playing at home,

1. No one has conceded fewer goals at home than Boro at a measly 9 from 14 games, however

2. Only Bolton have scored fewer goals at home than Boro's measly 14.

Conclusion = pile on the under 2.5 goals at the bookies :-)

I thought it was interesting that just before Norwich took the free kick that led to their opening goal I said to my friend sitting next to me that the goal keeper had set up the wall and positioned himself in much the same way as BPF did against Blackburn. Barely had the words left my mouth than the ball was in the net. Yes it was a deflection but if had been more accurate and started off maybe a foot or so to the right it still would have gone in without a deflection. The keeper could position himself another few feet to his left which would still allow him to cover his right hand post but give him more of a chance with the left. I think positioning like that helps the striker as it looks like he has acres of space to play with. Must fill him with confidence it would me (years ago)

With Bub saying he's responsible for the loss of defensive solidity, I'm hoping he means that it has finally dawned on him that KP needs to play in front of the back four.

For Boro, I'd probably keep the back four the same. The only reason for keeping Ayling being his height relative to other options - needed for set pieces against the likes of Ayala. After Boro, I'd be happy to see him dropped (unless he plays a blinder of course - watch him score the winning goal) . Douglas did not show anything to suggest he should start at left back ahead of Alioski.

Ahead of KP, Klich has to keep his place and I would not mind seeing Roberts staying at 10,though he may be a little lightweight his creativity would relieve some of the pressure on Pablo.

Obviously we really need Pablo to be fit to face Boro. For me, Bamford has to start. He seems to have his shooting boots on, which Bub recognises none of the others do. Surely there must be something further they can do in training to address this. Seems to be too many snatched shots, when another second or so would have enabled greater accuracy - Alioski against Rotherham being a clear example of this. Bamford will be keen to prove a point against Boro too - and again his height will be needed in our own box at set pieces. The temptation would be to start Clarke, but I feel this would be a mistake, as he's just come up against a brick wall with Boro. Though he's not as effective out wide, I'd start Roofe there, to run their big men into the ground with his movement in the first half, then unleash Jack to tear them apart after half time. Depending on how they are playing either Roofe or Roberts could make way for him. If Roberts comes off, Roofers could switch to 10 (which would be interesting) or Pablo could, with Jack playing on the left, as he did so effectively against Villa.

Crucially, I think we all feel that it's time for Bubba to stop announcing the team so far ahead of the game. Hopefully if, as suggested somewhere in the press last week, the Spygate sanctions are announced this week, he will stop feeling the need to make whatever point he is trying to make.

Actually, I'd quite like him to try throwing Pulls by announcing a plausible (given his comments about changing things up a bit) but incorrect team. Say with Ayling dropped for Shacks, Douglas back in and Alioski moved to right wing, Bamford remaining on the bench, Klich moved to 10 (with Forshaw moving forward to slot in) . Doubtless the EFL would take a dim view of such a move, but it could hardly be claimed to be the first time it's been done in this country - unlike (supposedly) that dreadful (only done by despicable unsporting foreigners) spying.

Thanks folks, as a newbie it's heartening that established members of this community feel my thoughts on this are along the right lines.

Tewit, I could do with a new job, but my direct involvement in football probably peaked in the early 80s, as manager of my Church choir under 13 football team.

Like others on here, I trust Bub to come up with good solutions for the problems he clearly recognises. MOT.

I'm sure a few of you will remember me, I used to write a novel for each post. Not been posting for a while as I've not been convinced since probably the villa game. With the exception of derby I don't recall a good performance. Coincidentally since that villa game we haven't had pontus coops and kalv in the same team. I feel like against the teams like stoke, derby away, norwich away, this was the reason for our success. Kalv just did the basics of a holding midfielder, think forshaw likes to prove how fit he is and how much he can run, but he has no end product. IMO Norwich deserved the 3 points and Farke had them set up brilliantly to beat us on our own turf. I'd love to see brown as we all would, even if its from the bench. He's had more games that douglas and bamford for 23's now so should be ready for boro if not swansea. Don't think roberts or pablo should have been axed. MOT its going to be a long run in.

I agree Samo, that KP has given the team defensive cover and made us more difficult to score against. I have never felt that we are a major force going forward but the ability to stay in games allowed us to miss a few chances and still win. Now we are having to score at least 2 to 3 goals to have a chance of winning. We need to go back to basics. Forshaw can be effective further forward in midfield because he does have a good engine and is a good passer when he keeps it simple. Unfortunately, if Pablo is not on his game we tend to struggle against teams that put numbers behind the ball. Browne could be that player we need in the No 10 position but Bielsa seems reluctant to use him and going on previous soundbites, Browne probably has to play another 3 games for the U23s before being considered for the bench. For me that is 3 games too much.

We lack wingers who can beat the defenders and put in balls that create difficulties for the defence. We lack a good number 10 as back up for Hernandez. Harrison is not good enough, Roberts is neat and tidy but lacks that killer pass and doesn't create opportunities. ( he has potential) . It was noticeable with Harrison and Roberts starting and Hernandez off his game we struggled. I was not a great supporter of Phillips last season but he's been a different player this year even if he is still reckless at times. We missed him against Norwich who were the better team on the day.

I also agree Samo- apols, as you may see if it gets past the Ends, I was so busy writing my own novel that I did not see your post go up.

KP simply has to start at DM. And yes Notts, Forshaw could be moved forward, to a role he has played effectively elsewhere, including for Boro.

Fingers crossed Pablo is fully fit. I'd also be very happy to see Brown on the bench against Boro. Bub did suggest they would review the number of games he felt he needed in tihe U23s, and given our struggles up front, surely even Bub can be flexible enough to add him to the bench options at his disposal. Would be great to see him tearing Ayala to shreds for at least the last 25 minutes- maybe inducing a penalty for Bamford to score as the first of a rapid fire hatrick-well we can dream.
