I tell you what George, with Monk taking Beattie to Boro with him you watch Bamford develop into a really good striker, look at what Beattie did for Wood! I was hoping we could keep Beattie but he's joined to Monk so that was a no go, I just hope Wood doesn't go backwards eh! MOT

Christiansen was the bundesligas top goal scorer once apon a time playing for teams like Barca, Beattie did not, therefore me thinks wood will blossom and only excel under TC.

Good point Delboy, hope your right mate, I really like Chris Wood and I did before he came to Leeds, he reminds me a bit of Lee Chapman, it would be fantastic for him to have an even better season for us eh! It just depends who we get to partner him! Good point though mate.

But Wood was on course for 20 goals the season before beattie and if not injured would probably have got 20+ and has had a pretty impressive goals tally in seasons before that so I would say you're giving beattie more credit than he deserves

Mickwood67, that's what worries me we are not signing anything better then what we had before I think WR would be worth a punt, I think he's got 5 years left in him yet. I know we don't have the money but will we ever.

Need to see something better coming in, Sorry may sound unfair to some let's see what they say at the end if we are still in this league can't have a view on this site because other don't like what you say they must be the ones that boo at the end of the game because Wednesday fans can't can't be at the game?

Whiteman12, whether it sounds fair or not you are entitled to your point of view and I can relate to what your saying mate, to be honest not one of us Leeds supporters knows what Player Radz and TC are going to bring in and the players already bought two are for the future, well one as Vierra plays, the other one an unknown and more than likely some more unknowns but non of us will know for definite how it's going to turn out!

Like I say I could be drowning my sorrows at the end of of September as things are bad but on the other hand it could be good, I think that's the real excitement we just don't know! Everybody's views are welcome mate, I must annoy with my always glass half full posts but that is what makes it great, it would be boring if we all said the same, as long as it's fair and not a total assassination of Leeds I don't mind. Norwich have 'beaten Leeds' to the signing of Howson. Really amuses me how the press drum up the interest in these stories, i'm almost 100% certain we were never even interested but due to the link its been made into a big thing. £4.5 million was always going to be too high an asking price imo.

I think your spot on Alftupper, I don't think we were really that interested in him nor Snodgrass and I'm glad in a way as it makes room for a couple more good solid signings at £2.5M for each. There is some wild speculation today about all clubs wanting this player that player and apart from the Charlie Taylor Leeds have not been mentioned! Good poker man Radz I hope!

Good point regarding being to optimistic but personally I'm like this everywhere and it's good to get people's opinions on here just not Swadlad's! I think Welshwhite and Whiteman12 have all made good points, sometimes us over optimistics need to come down a bit! I love it though, it's great now but September can be a rainy month when the realisation sets in! Ha ha! MOT

Some on here would not be happy even if we signed the whole Real Madrid first 11. It would not be Leeds if we weren't excited and worried in equal measure. let's see what quality or not our new scouting team have selected. Our new team is not yet complete and we haven't kicked a ball in anger yet.

We do not know system or tactics the new manager will employ but we are predicting where we finish. I suppose we need something to talk about until the season starts but get a grip. I hope we will be this excited next year selecting players in the Prem - oops i have gone and done it as well now.

Its been so bad for the last 10 years plus that i think people just expect things to go wrong now. its hard to be positive when there has been so much negative i guess. we are definitely taking a risk with an unproven manager and unproven players (at least in the Championship) but I'm happy to wait and see what happens before jumping to conclusions.

Ok agree, that our new manager is somewhat unproven, but that dog botherer manager was too. Hate him, and his arrogance, but look at what they've done with the right infrastructure and a good coach.

I'd suggest it was more down to the Premier League loanees Bright. Be interesting to see how good Wagner is this year, as you're only allowed a max of 2 PL loans.

WhiIst I understand some of Welshwhites comments and I can in truth see where he is coming from I would like to say that a lot of those signings were made by a different and very complicated MC. First of all he made a lot of panic buys at the beginning, some cheap and cheerful some cheap and rubbish! Then a new manager came in then another one then another and so on! They all had different views and liked different players so it became a mess. Things are stable now and these players are for the future, some will be bad, some good, some great, who knows? Nobody had heard of Kante, Man Utd got Pogba then got rid then look what happened, look at Beradi he's solid! We will be fine and if not Radz will work hard to get us there, would you rather go back to the Ridsdale era and spend money we don't have? We have got to be more than happy this pre season as it's the most stable we have ever been. Welshwhite the good times are coming we just got to be patient and believe. MOT

I really see where your coming from and you may be right but on the other hand us eternal optimists might be to! Maybe some of us are getting to old and not so synical anymore cause we just want to believe something good is going to happen. Every new season I'm the same mate, full on we are going up but then it doesn't happen and sometimes I bore myself by talking crap when I know things aren't going well but there is just something telling me that things are changing for the better, if I'm being totally honest I am a bit sceptical but we are showing more intent than ever before

Thanks Mikewood67 i hope i am just paranoid or something. These foreign players might be world beaters but i have seen these types before. I think the new owner has done much better than Cellino already but to get promoted from this league needs some serious investment aswell as the right experiance and knowhow of the task ahead. With the likes of Villa, Boro, Reading, Shef wed, Hull, Sunderland, Fulham, Norwich even Cardiff it will be tough. my pick for the automatic is Villa then Boro followed by Sunderland in the play-offs. As for us we will be lucky to better last season maybe 9th will be a good season based on the new signings and new manager.

Radz did say 3 seasons Welshwhite but you know what we are like someone says 3 seasons we take it as this season, I think we put pressure on each other by high expectation, I'm as guilty as sin on that one, I do think we overachieved last season and we had quite a bit of luck in some games which I personally think gave Monk more credit than he deserved! This season we have lost two players in Taylor and Barkley, so that's positive. Also I don't see the attraction in buying older players like the Wendies have, i'm not in any way a Manager or rich enough to be an owner but I think we need continuity, a few additions every season but get players on good steady contracts! That was one thing MC was guilty of to many one year rolling or two year don't know if your any good contracts! I'm with you with your league predictions but with one change, I do think we will be up there top six! But how good would this be. Leeds v Sunderland play off final Wembley! We have waited to long for FA Cup payback! Good post Welshwhite though, posts like yours get us thinking I just can't stand we are this crap we are that crap, I think we all know what we are but let's not forget who we are. WE ARE LEEDS!

Didn't we have a team of 'experienced Championship players' and an 'experienced Championship manager' under Colin and where did that get us? Mid table and we were still paying off their enormous wages years later.

Unfortunately, welsh, we've all seen it before. But I'm one for the optimism wagon. There hasn't been much of that since our rapid demise, but know where you're coming from in many ways.
