I would just like to say that I was told before the season ended that Bates had been told to liquidate all his assetts due to ill health so this is no suprise to me. The source does have contacts at ER so took it as reliable and what is going on now seems to back it up. Would also like to add im not a Bates hater and think if he goes he should be remembered for the good thing she did when nobody would buy the club. My belief is that he wants to be seen as the person to take us up but doesnt have the funds so still wants to be chairman and I think whoever takes over could let him have that title for a year or 2.

Agree0 Disagree0

In other words Bates needs some one elses money to move the club forward but wants the glory for doing it !sound like fiddling Bates

Hi ed I think all will become clearer when Warnock returns from holiday, we can all speculate as much as we want in the mean time, I do love reading some of the wacky signings being rumoured as brings a smile to my face which I think all us Leeds fans have been waiting for for a long time lets just hope we have a great season and who knows back where we belong might just be around the corner

The jyg {Ed013's Note - I agree, next week we will know a lot more}

Believable5 Unbelievable0

One more thing ed I hope Warnock hasn't been getting annoying texts or phone calls let's remember he IS on holiday with his family and we are all entitled to that and we wouldn't like it, just sat by pool bar and ya phone goes and it's bloody work

The jyg

Agree3 Disagree0

You have to remember. He already knows we are the most fanatical fans in the country. Thats what sold him on the job and the last thing we're goin to do, is sit back drinking cocktails. We want to know whats goin on. Remember at this point he's the only one at the club who tells the truth.

To all of you out there saying Beckford is in the past and we should move on, this guy has without doubt established himself as one of the best (if not THE best) striker at our level over the past few seasons, he is virtually a god in Leeds, just think how much confidence it would give him to pull on the shirt again and partner Becchio again, I for one think if there is the faintest possibility of re-signing him we should go for it 110%, 25 goals minimum, the biggest no-brainer ever.

Baywhite

Believable15 Unbelievable1

Never a true word said, Becchio brings the best out of Beckford and to reunite them is a nobrainer. Lets hope he's on his way home.
mot4life

Agree7 Disagree1

Interesting to see how many ex players are wanted back at the club.

Agree2 Disagree0

Just ex-players who would give 100% and improve the team - Beckford v McCormack = No contest, Becks every time.

Agree4 Disagree1

In my eyes and im sure alot of other Leeds united fans is that Jermaine Beckford is a living Leeds united legend, you cant argue with that. Lots of people will disagree and say 'Well he didnt have to perform at the top level like bremner, strachan, hunter, viduka' thats true.....but he never got the chance. What he did do at the level he was playing for leeds united was top class, i would welcome the prodigal son back with open arms. Ask yourself, when we dropped into league 1, 15 point reduction and looking like no hopers but offered a 30goal a season man in beckford who would have swapped him for another striker?

Agree4 Disagree1

The reception he got at home won't have gone unnoticed by the powers at be at ER. He will definitely be a target partly to increase belief/moral to the fans, show Snoddy that this is the year. I think Beckford coming though will depend on
(A) What price Person wants for him and what wages Beckford is willing to accept
(B) Whether McCormack stays or not
jt-lufc

Agree1 Disagree0

I was never Beckford's biggest fan and thought at the time he could have got the same sort of agreement offered to Snoddy ie sign another contract and if we aint going up you can move, he could then have become the all time goalscorer at Leeds. That said I saw a massive improvement in his movement , work rate , touch and team play than when he was here when he came with Leicester so think it would be a good signing as long is it didnt mean we stopped being a team and relied on him again because when he left others came forward ir Becchio. Ross wont be a loss he is out for himself not the club but what can you expect when you sign players that do the same to other clubs? Somma back soon as well so more options there.

If the takeover/ investment actually happens (touch wood) the first thing NW should do, is offer Clayton another contract! reasons:
Still only young
Lots of potential
One of the few shining lights last season and will only get better.

and with him, Snodgrass, Lees, White, Becchio, Pearce and few quality signings it could be a really good year us.

Is it just me or has the bbc gossip page got itself stuck in a time warp today?

What do u think of adam clayton sell or keep and why he played in more games for leeds than anyone else this season and got leeds goal of season

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I think if we get what we want for him we should sell him because the money could bring 1 or 2 Players that we desperately need for other positions

Agree2 Disagree0

He played more games because most of the squad were either suspended or injured. Goal of the season means nothing really. You could play horrendous all season and the score a 40 yard volley, it doesn't mean you have had a good season.

Agree2 Disagree0

Keep him,we wont need money from his sale for new players, and he has bags of potential

Agree3 Disagree0

Every game i went to, he showed a lack of control and alot of his passes were ether over cooked or wayward. Maybe with a good midfielder next to him, he could show promise. Overall i think we can find better. I think he feels leeds is beneath him. We are leeds and knowone is beneath us.
mot4life

Agree2 Disagree0

Sell him, wants more money than what hes worth.

Agree2 Disagree0

Deffo a keeper

Agree0 Disagree1

Right, totally agree if a player wants more than hes worth and year left on his contract sell him and bring in some new blood, thats what would happen at all clubs.
But are we all forgetting the BATES factor, is we sell him would that money go to new players? I very much doubt it, it hasn't in the past with Bates, i.e.Delph, Rudolfs Kid, Howson and Gradel etc why would money from Clayton be so much different.
Personally if I was NW I'd keep him run the contract down and let go for a free, that way have a half decent player for at least this coming season! If we sell, we wouldn't get a replacement or if did get someone in, no way near the standard of the player we lost.
So play him, if lucky we may get promoted then maybe accept a revised offer if NW still wants him, if not let him go.
What as a Manager does NW have lose, lose Clayton next summer get no money, sell him this summer get no Money, either way no transfer money from Clayton!

Why is everyone wanting a new keeper andy lonergan is good keeper he wont use games give him a good defence would be class that whatbi think anyway

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Loners is a good shot stopper but looks dodgy in the air and some of his decision makings are bad, but I reall don't think Kenny is better, sidewards step I reckon personally

Agree5 Disagree0

Lonners has the most pradicted kick in the game. His only quality is, he's a great shot stopper but is like a advert for lurpac, when it comes to crosses. I say a good number two. If we have money i say bring back Macarthy.
mot4life

Agree5 Disagree0

Alex McCarthy's a no brainer. Talented young goalkeeper, already proven at Leeds. Fans love him. He loves the fans. Would drop down division for us.

ed iknow everyone is getting on bandwagon about takeover but another thought ? any decent money from a main advertising deal would give us a good income for players or wages so could be thats being annouced rather than takeover ? nicky bee {Ed013's Note - Leeds have come out and said investment so you could be right. I like reading all the speculation on the forum. All I know is Leeds will be Leeds and we always live to fight another day. The closed season is still early so time will tell what will happen.
Players I would like to see at LUFC
Guthrie
Beckford
Kenny only because he's better what we have at the moment
Smith
Andrews
Maybe even taraabt whose unhappy at QpR And likes working with NW.

The rumours of gradel coming back not sure of that One he's in Europe with st ettiene I think next season so happy there

Is bates doesn't sell bad things will happen at Leeds united. 1st all good players will leave eg snodgrass. 2nd no one will want to come to Leeds because of bates. 3rd transferr fees and wage will not compete to other clubs. 4th other clubs will show Leeds up on signings and crowd attendances as they will undoutbtably fall. 5th Warnock will leave due to lack of funds and the news will make bates look like a right tw#t not to mention Leeds. F*** that MOT

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Dont worry sonny, i'm sure your mummy will give you a cuddle and make it all better.

We never stood a chance of getting many players this season without investment when bates said that we needed to reduce our wage/transfer budget down to 9.5 mil

It takes some considerable time to purchase a football club Not something that is dune overnight
It,s like going down the shop for a pack of 20 and bottle of tizer

So with that in minde I would think Warnock as know about this for some time be it investment or as we hope a full on Takeover. As for any input he may have I would think it will be very little

How ever if it is the Americans (who know precious little about English Football or those that play it) are looking to take over Leeds United
Then I would think Warnock along with his experience
would be inexpendable to them and hes opinion would be held in higher regard than any other at the club makeing him a very big player in all this be it in a indirect manner

Believable4 Unbelievable0

If they know precious little about english football and those who play it...then...that would include warnock wouldnt it.

Ed, county men fellow fans, lend me your ears! Whatever is going on you can be sure will be kept very quiet until they want to release it. Mr Bates may have saved us and for that Im sure (underneath) we will all be truly grateful. However, to progress things have to change, and a takeover not an investment is needed. If you pay peanuts you get monkeys, but that doesn't mean we have to pay the highest wages just compete. Mr Bates thank you but time for you to take whatever money you can get and let someone takeover who hasn't just got so much self interest at heart. We will be great again and the Don can look down and smile, the ground will be full and teams will once again fear coming to Elland Road.

Any news regarding the possible takeover/invest as i see it's all gone fairly quiet. Surely that's a good thing? I hope.

Also we are continuously being linked with decent player but if Bates doesn't sell i think wages and fees will scupper our chances of signing players we need for promotion.

Nothing doing till Harvey back from the league bash at end of this week.

Hope 'maricans come in, spend 60 to buy and a further 20 on players to get a premier league club for 80 mega quid. Sounds like good business to me... but wishfull thinking. As ever, MOT

The summer is here (well almost) and the merry-go-round that is Leeds United is in full swing again! Year after year we have been promised funds but for some reason Mr Bates (and Harvey) kept their cheque book closed and our better players were sold or left for NOTHING. Enter Mr Warnock.

I agree with other fans who believe Warnock would have walked by now if the money he was promised had gone. All this talk of a takeover/ investment couldn't have happened at a worse time what with the bank holiday and Jubilee etc. I cant wait for Tuesday and hopefully some sort of update from within Elland Road.

I have been a Leeds United fan since the age of 11 and I can't wait of Leeds United to start flexing their muscles again and signing the sort of players that will make both the club and fans proud. I truly believe Warnock is the man to take us back into the Premiership and if the talk of a takeover is true we will once again be a force to reckon with.

I know we've been let down in the past but have some faith, get behind our great club and let Colin work his magic. MOT.

if and when the takeover goes through the player i would love niel to sign would be jamie carragher on a 2 year contract make him club captian he would bring on lees and white if he stays with his knowledge also help pearce bed in. he could be our new strachan plus rodgers at liverpool will be looking to the future so a cheeky small bid might acceptable you never know

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Jamie Carragher you must be having a laugh he most be one of the most over rated centre halves ever to play the game and now he's old and worse than ever you wanna sign him. Seeing as it's late on a Sunday night I hope your indulging in some beverages otherwise there's no excuses for having a mullicker like that we already had O'Dea last year lol

I think its passed your bedtime if you are comparing carragher with odea i bet if this site was up and running in the 90s and suggesting buying vinnie jones or strachan people like you would shoot anybody down but you know better

The point was tying to make that he would in training show our young lads what to do and do not forget how many goals we conceded last season it will not happen but i wish it would
