We need a prolific striker a 20 plus a season man we say and I'm just throwing this out there but would have mirco scored 20plus last season if given games and could he not do it again thoughts please.

Bridcutt is in my opinion the best signing in years based upon face value quality and not judging them on what they turned out to be before they left us.
But anyway, Evans said he was looking to bring 2 or 3 "bridcutt" quality players in this month.
Purely on stats I don't think this laferty is the right buy. Not the goal scorer or new dimension we need I feel. There's better quality out there but Mr Cellino just has to dig into his pockets deeper. I know lewis grabban and Gnabry have been some peoples opinions, but what would you guys try to pull in if you had the choice this January?
I'd try out grabban on loan with view to buy if we could. Proven at this level and the extra dimension we need up front for wood.

Perhaps Lafferty will play in the hold the ball up role bringing midfield into play. A role he will be superior at than Wood and maybe Grabban will join him as the out and out striker. This will see Wood take his rightful place on the subs bench until he improves. Now we have Bridcutt for foreseeable future playing 442 is a real possibility. I say get both Norwich men but I hope we are looking for a central defender as well two will be needed if Bellusci leaves. Like to see us get Hoban.

Good post George, totally agree mate it would be great to get both the Norwich lads can't see it happening unless MC has promised 1st refusal on Byram in exchange for both of them, don't think grabban wants to come drop down a league but Big Steve has loaned him before so you never know, I think a player like grabban will complement lafferty very well and with his NI team mate dallas supplying the assists it could work very well.

Bridcutt great addition hope for 1 or 2 more to come in but really would like to keep. Aunty give him more games show him we want him and he could be a star.

On the subject of "second" signing. To bolster the defense may I drop in the name of Daniel Agger. Experienced and played at every level. Cultured CB with a devestating shot. His contract is up soon and is valued at 2/ 3 mil.
The only problem is prising him out of Brondby but who knows?

I doubt it.

Hi ed. Who is the hot blonde on the F24 video at the top of the page? I might do a Chris Gayle, ask her for an interview and then ask her out for a drink.
Just to make it football related, sell bellusci for £4m!

{Ed013's Note - Its Ed025 missus ;-) The Chris Gayle thing was way blown out of proportion, anyone would think he had killed someone! I will start up the car for Bellusci}

Let's hope she leaves him for his brother or does something equally horrible. Hate number 25. Have a nice day Ed25.

Great news, however is being considered the "first" signing of January even though he has played 8 games.

cheating there me thinks.

Why do we keep getting players who aren't up to championship standard? Sick of players taking up the wage bill only not to be played. Get players who can play 1st team football. It isn't bloody rocket science. But what do I know I'm only a girl. Erwin, Botaka, etc. And why isn't Ant getting a place ahead of Doukara? I don't wonder why he wants to leave.

It's called making an attempt to operate within FFP rules and buying players with potential on the cheap only for them to be inevitable disappointments. We are still playing catch up trying to balance the books economically. That said, there's no doubt we should've offered an extra half mill for Limbombe and not gone for Botaka. As for Erwin something went badly wrong there. His fitness is probably a cover story for the fact that he ain't very good.

Liverlass, believe with Fat Steve at helm it shall be this window we get it right and buy quality.

Most of our signings have been a bit hit and miss Liverlass, I agree, Prob more miss than hit.
I've more confidence that the big guy will not make signings just for the sake of it.

Liverlass, well made point, I'm sure we all read your posts and relate our opinion to what you say rather than your sex.
It is 2016!
I hope we make 3-4 signings that have an impact like Bridcutt, Grabban from Norwich for one.

I bet all clubs make signings that some work, some don't and often even big money signings don't come off, so for me it is a bit of a guessing game when you are looking at our level and trying to work out who will work but we are no better/ worst at buying than most teams I would say.

Where we are better than most is bring players through the system so I would always be looking at that way as well, maybe even doing that first.

Having said the above if a players motivation is right then if you have a forward who has scored at a decent ratio in the championship before and plays in a similar system to ours then you lesson the risk. Also a player who is fit, quickish, strong and if we talking about front players/ wingers then if they have done it in league 1 and are still in early 20's, hungry types I would also go for those types.

For a defender I would go for someone who more experienced type who can help the team out in other ways late 20's or even early 30's OK if they still have the legs/ desire to play but it is all a bit of a punt, glad it ain't my money.

Didn't think my last post would make it through the censors lol. I do hope the Ed's realise it was a joke.

Quite right Liverlass, for the sake of a bit more money we could have had a quality winger who ajax want to sign for a lot more money than what he was sold for. Erwin went out on an and could only make subs appearances for Bury. We have to try to loan him out again and if he fails again, try to offload him next window. People seem to want 4-5 players in the window. I would rather just get players who are going to improve us or not bother.

Worrying that our head of recruitment has left to join big Sam. Does that mean all the negotiations, in what is being reported to being a busy window, are going to be managed by MC.

If so fasten your seatbelts its going to be a bumpy ride!

We are probably goingto spend the next 3 weeks on bringing a new "head of recruitment" in then sign 3 naff players in the last week of this month.

Im sure Gnarby is a winger / wide player, so a great addition if we keep Mowatt and Cook.

I believe his departure was part of the Bridcutt loan deal. Fat Sam wanted something in return and he got it.

Wenger has recalled Serge Gnarby from West Brom and wants to loan him to s championship side, I think he would be a ideal replacement till the end of the season if we lose Mowatt or Cook this month.

He played RM and I faster than Byram, so could replace him till the end of the season, but he can probably play on the left

well mirco no new offer and had enough of not playing so he wants to leave . Norwich want to sell kyle and a swap with sam, so much going on but as usual nothing actually happening . TIME WILL TELL . SHAME ABOUT SAM AT 22 HE IS OUR LONGEST SERVING PLAYER.

05 Jan 2016 11:56:30
Would be a terrible swap, Byram for Lafferty?, one of our best young players for yet another striker who doesn't score enough goals, we lready have enough of them, if Byram has to go, sell to the highest bidder, forget about Lafferty and shell out for an out and out striker, as we are we won't get near the top six, and Lafferty is not the answer.

Rhino, I can see Sam heading to Leicester for straight cash.
