It would be difficult to see Leeds sign anyone unless the investment/takeover happens. If it doesn't we will be scouting around the bargain basement. The only positive is that NW will be so much better than SG at finding the best of them. That's, of course, if Neil decides he's not staying.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

I am feeling quite positive about the season. I think if other results go our way we have enough in our squad to avoid relegation. It will be a roller-coaster ride but Warnock will be the man to help us avoid the drop, These are my genuine thougts for the season ahead unless their is a takeover or some investment in the Squad.

Agree0 Disagree2

Avoid relegation, get a grip mr pessimistic

Agree3 Disagree0

I'm sorry but I'm with mr pessimistic here. Too much work needs doing and there's no money, little time and, I can't help but get the feeling, no takeover/investment. I hope I'm wrong but I've seen nothing to convince me otherwise in the last 18 months.

Cardiff had to rebuild completely for last season, made a cup final and finished in the playoffs. Have a bit of faith and give it time or jog on and support someone else.

this team will probably all be wrong by next season so dont shoot the messenger but from possible rumours new team:
Gk- Kenny

RB-Halford/calderon CB-kilgallon/Lees CB-Pearce LB-?

RW-Rogers CM-Snoddy/Green CM-Guthrie LW-?

ST-Becchio/Diouf and Mackail smith

i reckon we'll sell McCormack/clayton/white

Thoughts on the left side of the team, haven't heard any rumours in those 2 positions?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Robbie Rogers is naturally a left winger and has played there most of his career, perhaps you should be looking at the RW rumours? JH

Agree3 Disagree0

I dont understand why people keep putting Rogers down as a rm .hes a lm

This is a brief part of a post on sky sports talking about becchio.... Warnock believes the frontman has much more to offer.
"I'm a big fan of Becchio," said Warnock. "I think he can be a lot better player than what I've seen and that's what I'll be working on in pre-season.
"That's why I decided to put Billy Paynter on the transfer-list, because I feel if I do bring another striker in, he needs to be slightly different to what those two are.
"We're looking at pace in different areas and power as well. It's just trying to get the right recipe on the ins and outs."

O.k so this must be very recent does not seem like the words from a disgruntaled or dihartened manager to me, quite the reverse up beat, LOOKING FORWARD TO BRINGING IN NEW PLAYERS...MOT

I'd be quite happy to see the back of Lonners. He hasn't done all that much for me this season, and certainly hasn't filled the void left by Kasper. There are more astute GKs out there, however I am not convinced either that Paddy Kenny should be the one to replace him. Granted he's experienced and has top-level experience, but he's not getting any younger.

I think some of the rumours have been well wide of the mark, Leeds just aren't the club they used to be. There seems to be a huge distinctive lack of drive and desire by Bates which is only acting as a cloud over the squad which is resulting in unhappy players, and understandably.

Leeds are a huge club, and they should be challenging and competing. The fan base and support the club receives and generates should be worthy of attracting big name players to Leeds, like West Ham and Newcastle did when they were both in The Championship, and we can't do it.

We've definitely got the right man in charge, and I firmly believe that he'll deliver, given the right resources. Grayson should have been backed by Bates and he wasn't... Now it's time to show Warnock, The Fans and the rest of the league that Leeds are serious about going up...

So far, I'm not convinced, are you?!

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Lonners and Kenny are decent keepers but for me it has to be Alex McCarthy.
Come on Neil show your intent and get the keeper that most of the Leeds fans want.

Good first post, some sensible stuff in there. However look at it another way. Bates has always said that the last two years have been part of a three year plan to get us to the Premiership. The year coming up is year 3. Maybe (and it's only a maybe) years 1 and 2 were stabilising in the Championship, not spending too much on the team but increasing the income stream with the East stand development then having a real go in year 3. Personally I think Bates has known about this potential takeover for sometime and he has been laying the foundations for the deal to be done. A club on a sound financial footing witha huge fan base and a secure income stream in place is a very viable proposition. JD

I know I do but does any body else feel that the investment/takeover happens soon with a great outcome and no hassle so Warnock can get on with Wat needs to be done with the team as promotion is a far cry unless we rebuild some positions in the team. Im hoping that the deal happens fast and successfully so we don't get embarrest during the transferr window. We shouldn't have to compete with every other club for small signings. Players should jump at the chance to come to Leeds not turn it down to join smaller clubs. We should thrive. However back to reality we have to get the deal done quick and successfully. MOT!!

At least this pre season we have some genuine interest to go hand in hand with the usual silly season rumours.
I dont care if its a takeover or financial investment, I just hope that Neil Warnock is given the chance to build the team he wants to take the Mighty Whites forward.
Im quite long in the tooth following Leeds since 1965 and as the song goes weve had our ups and downs. I remember when we were in the middle of the Ridsdale saga we were serenaded by a sheikh who ended up having no money.
All I hope is that this great club of ours doesnt get shafted again and this takeover/investment comes to something meaningful. Im hoping the silence from Mr Bates and Neil means something good. Being a Leeds fan though Im not counting any chickens.
As regards player rumours Id love to see McCarthy or Robinson, Halford/Valderon, Kilgallon, Green, an attacking mf and a top quality striker. Heres hoping MOT

{Ed013's Note - Ladies and Gents, please stop posting about a player who's name starts Toat El ........ and has been in an article saying that Leeds have beaten West Ham to the signing. It is a bad joke and if you look at the name it is as good as the article itself, total sh*te! The article comes from a West Ham blog that hates Leeds and whoever writes it spends more time causing trouble with Leeds rather than concentrate on their own club because they must be that boring. Please don't visit the site because you will bite and that is what they want. I am in the process of writing to Leeds to let them know of this constant abuse and forever attacking Neil Warnock. If you look back they did the same when he was manager of QPR. Thanks guys}

Whatever happens with this investment, these are the players I'd like Leeds to be looking at. Wud u agree with any of them ?

Gk
Federici, Robinson, Stockdale, butland, McCarthy,

Rb
Lichaj, Adam smith , halford

Lb
Lewington, Gibbs, hill

Cb
Kilgallon, hill,

Cm
Derry, bower, Andrews, hoolahan, delph, bowditch , shelvey, butterfield

Lm
Rose, hammill, Boyd

St
Smith, hulse, helgusan, benjani,

We definitely need a bigger name player who can handle the expectation. The reason I have put a lot of ex players here is coz we know they perform in a Leeds shirt under the intense atmosphere.
Can't wait for this takeover to happen and for Leeds to bring some quality in.

Marcus.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

Not so bad think out of them i would go for

GK McCarthy

RB Halford

LB Hill

CB Killa

Cm butterfield

LM Hammill

ST Smith

Agree6 Disagree3

Not many of them - you seem to have a laughable obsession with former players, there are too many changes to accommodate in one pre-season and most of the players are not that good.

And really? Smith (yawn), Hulse, Bowyer (I assume you mean), Robinson, Delph, Kilgallon? Get a grip...

Why 5 keepers?

Don't think Adam Smith will be back any time soon after last season's events and Lichaj can probably do better than a mid-table Championship team assuming he's properly recovered from his injury.

This probably wins the prize for worst suggested squad so far.

Agree5 Disagree5

Mid table last season, top 2 this season, so yes, he would come back.nobody in their right mind would turn down robinson.dont think poster said buy them all, he said agree with any, so yes on several of them

Agree3 Disagree0

No I did mean buy all 5 keepers, and put them all in net. Lol. Don't know if you saw the games smith played, or kilgallons performances, neither put a foot wrong, most of these players would walk into the team we have now simply because they are better than what we've got. But please provide your suggestions, if I posted the worst ever I would love to see who you would suggest.let me guess, hazard, messi, balotelli, neymar?
I invite your suggestions, I'm intrigued.

whats wrong with lonergan, made some cracking saves at the end of the season, not his fault he had a carp defence in front of him, and just shows if hes wanted by another club, and rather than paddy kenny, id welcome bk alex macarthy anyday.... keep lonners or bring bk alex....hx white

Believable5 Unbelievable4

I agree i think Lonners did a great job, everyone was raving about him first half of the season, if the defence is not good enough to stop shots coming in then inevitably these will be goals, if there has to be a change i would go for McCarthy.

Agree2 Disagree2

Gotta agree. Thought Lonergan kept us in more than a fair share of games last season, or at least preventing more embarassing scorelines on numerous occassions. This was highlighted by the fact several pundits considered him to be one of our better players last season with him being mentioned for the player of year discussions. Admittedly he had his shaky moments, and yes, probably ought to have done better with some goals but the same could be said for any keeper at times. The defence really did not help him at all, and really ought to be the focus of our summer strengthening, not GK. Thought that Mcarthy was terrific for the short period he was here though, so wouldn't mind him providing competition for Lonners. Those saying that Kenny would be an improvement, particularly with regards to his command of his area front are being very generous to the QPR man (whilst he's fairly solid, he's still very prone to some sketchy decision making. Personally would feel far happier with Lonners next season, and think that selling our no.1 (again) would show a lack of ambition. We don't need to sell our better squad members, we need more quality in other positions and reliable cover/back ups. CE

not a rumour as such, just wanted to get my email addy and name accross to the site as requested the other day...

Just on the transfer front - hopefully the Guthrie rumours are true to add some steel to the midfield and would also welcome Killa back with open arms. it also seems to me like Green will become a Leeds player IMO - the fact that nothing has been mentioned makes me think that maybe a deal is in place with him pending the takeover being complete. this would also coinside with the fact he's going to the Euro's so would probably suit him. i could be way off th mark - just a thought.

finally - how does that new group work which is being set up on this site to stop the stupid posts being put on? i only read it briefly the other day n cnt remember...

Just on my way bak from Exeter on the train as im a soon to be royal
marine going through my training. I always travel 1st class on long journerys and there was 2 blokes sat across the aisle from me me with there laptops open. They had a all sorts of figures on the documents couldnt quite see what they were about but the top of 1 of the spreadsheets was headed stadium overview. They werent discussing anything as im
Sure they wont wna risk anything coming out. One of the blokes had a southern accent and the other sounded american. They got off the train in leeds same as me. Could these be the guys we are hoping to buy or invest in the club? {Ed013's Note - Coincidence, but for yourself change your choice of the Marines to the Para's!}

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Come on lad if they had that much money to invest, surley have a private jet, or be on the plane to leeds, not the train....hx white

Agree0 Disagree2

Depends which bit of the train. Rail is far more convenient for getting between Leeds & London and first class carriages have plenty of space and power sockets. For people with work to do en route it pays for itself and I don't think there is even a service any more between LBA and London - if there is it's from Gatwick which is quite a way from London. Private jets are monstrously expensive and beyond all but the very wealthiest and even those who can afford them are wary of the cost and the ecological issues. I've seen many interesting people on the London train when I've been travelling on business. Sounds plausible to me.

Leeds I am thinking of supporting another club if we dont perform this year. It is make or break for me as my dad forces me to go to Leeds. but apart from promotion all I ever see is rubbish when all my friends teams are winning things. I am the only person that goes to matches and I understand that they are glory hunters, but very soon I will have to pay for my own ticket so I see it as my last chance. Any ideas?

Thats the fun of supporting Leeds mate, were having a hard time AGAIN, Hopefully we will get some money into the club and march on to where we belong. Stick with Leeds were proud ! Gj

Agree7 Disagree0

You what, shame on you, I can't believe your even thinking about. Your Dad is right forcing you to ER, its like having to go to school lad, your getting an education being a Leeds Fan, you re being taught what it takes to support a real club, be a real fan not just a fair weather fan. Now my advice to you is to Stand up, grow a pair and become a man my son. Other wise you should know Time to go, time to go, ........... (you fill in the blanks) Leeds is for life not just Christmas. {Ed013's Note - I force my son, he is 3 and has no choice!}

Agree9 Disagree0

Ok I am still not convinced. My friend says that I can go to a top 10 Premier league club for cheaper than Leeds. I am stuck, I love the atmosphere and the pub before the game, but none of my friends support Leeds and I can't go with my dad for ever. I live in Beeston so Leeds is a small walk for me. If everything wasn't so negative things would be different.

Lucas the Kop Cat

Agree0 Disagree6

If you can't support Leeds then fine. Walk out that door and enjoy supporting a boring club then. Every club has problems. Every single one. So if you want to toddle off and support an unbeatable flawless power in sport then you had better brush up on your darts knowledge and get behind phil "the power" taylor! You clearly don't understand what being a fan is! Why not look up the lyrics to MOT! That will teach you what being a real fan is

Agree4 Disagree0

You are from leeds you should support leeds i have been to madrid and Scunthorpe following the whites that is the fun and pain of supporting leeds the good times will return dont follow the sheep that support the red or blue scum be your own person MOT

Agree3 Disagree0

Word of advice, move out and go live in London, then buy a red black and white scalf... would make a fantastic scum fan....

Agree3 Disagree0

How is it cheaper, think travel costs! You walk to ER! Live in Leeds just think of the kickins you'll get supporting the scum.

Agree3 Disagree0

Who needs so called fans like you ,100% or no mark

Agree5 Disagree0

My advice is why not pick a club foe every day of the week maybe one beginning with the same letter as the day say Millwall for Monday, Torquay for Tuesday etc. As no day begins with L makes you decision easy. Real fans stick through thick and thin once Leeds always Leeds......

Agree5 Disagree0

Hi, Lucas the Kop Cat, deary deary me.
No one can tell you what team to support, it is your call. Your friends are basking in the reflected glory of the trophys their teams win.
I have followed the Mighty Whites for an eternity, through thick and thin.
They won the league, great, they were relegated, not so great. But all the while they were for me, the way, the truth and the white (sic).

None of my friends support Leeds, but I am proud that I can say I do, I feel it helps define me.
A team is for life, not just for cheaper admission prices and trophys, (IM( humble)O)

Why do people keep saying a free transfer as in this day and age there isnt such a thing it just means that instead of paying a club to sign a player the player asks for a bigger signing on fee or bigger wages either way you pay because they generally go to the highest bidder if they are any good and if they arent why would you want them anyway. That was the problem with Grayson he got loans and frees but paid decent wages for average players
