Would love to see Lee Clark come in to the Leeds hotseat, right age, strong very good manager, seems to improve players, which we need.

Believable2 Unbelievable10

Doesnt improve a team though, how many times has he tried getting Town promoted, 35? lol

You may not agree with this but I'm going to say it anyway.

By the end of 2012 we will all regret Simon Grayson was sacked - even those slagging him off now.

Believable14 Unbelievable11

Your right im not going to agree with this simon i think as a manager of this club youin fact worse manager than blackwell were out of your depth. this club is far to big for you. you limped over the line for promotion from league 1 when we were walking it. inmo the side we have got is weaker than the 1 you inherited

Agree4 Disagree8

Totally correct my friend. it baffles my brain when people say he has done well, i say hes done the least expected. the very least. god signings are hard to think of, gradel reccomend by paddy, mccarthy was good but that was off the back of his one man show at ER last season why we didnt keep him longer ill never know twice keeper lonergan is and loves leeds!

Agree2 Disagree7

I won't regret it - SG is a nice guy who loves the club but he had taken us as far as he could - one day SG will be a winning manager but Leeds needed a change at this time to move on

Agree5 Disagree6

He may have done the least that is expected, but then again, we are expecting rather a lot.

Agree13 Disagree0

Just listen to what the senior pros have said since Redfearn has taken other, it is clear that he lost the dressing room no regret he is a lg1 manager at best look at Blackpool and Leeds championship = out of depth.

I see the rose tinted brigade and still as loyal as ever, haha clueless.

Agree0 Disagree6

He was brought in to get us out of League one - Mission accomplished.

he was then rightfully given a chance to see what he could do. He got us pretty close last year, but results for the whole of 2011 speak for themselves. It was time for him to go, and I for one wont regret it.

Onwards and Upwards MOT

Agree1 Disagree6

What on earth is that first response all about?

Kevin Blamewell is the worst manager Leeds United have EVER had. By far.

06 Feb 2012 22:36:10
All I want in our new manager is a solid defence, proper passing football and take no s**t.

I'm 100% behind any man that fills those categories.

Believable11 Unbelievable0

Redfearn fits the bill then 100%

Agree3 Disagree4

06 Feb 2012 22:22:19
In my opinion if we get Raddy Antic and he's managed Barca & Real maybe he can get us playing abit like them, I mean the season before Swansea got promoted that summer the squad actually went up to Barcelona and trained with some of the reserves & youths and look how well they move the football about now! They were only there a few weeks and Raddy must have years of experience! MOT!

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Reddy antic ex barcelona and athletico madrid coach has expressed an interest in the job. whats your thoughts ed? Any danger of bates doing whats right for the club?

Source SSN {Ed013's Note - Too expensive if I am honest but you never know. On the other hand he could be stating that he wants it so that others are aware of his availability and I'm sure he would prefer a Premier League job}

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Wouldn't think he would be any good in this league, we need some one that can work with average players not top class ones. and anyway how good is he speaking in english {Ed013's Note - He played for Luton for 4 years so I imagine his English is ok}

Agree1 Disagree0

Best ever Leeds bosses ?
1 revie
2 wilko successive promotions n title winner.
3 oleary champions league semi finals and regular top 6 finishes.
4 grayson promotion to championship n that man u game
5 graham took us to uefa cup n top half finishes
Have I missed anyone ?
??

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Jimmy Armfield took us all the way to European cup final, where we were robbed

Agree9 Disagree0

Are u having a laugh with grayson on that list, behave

Agree7 Disagree7

The biggest joke on that list is O'Deary. He was allowed to spend so much the club nearly folded, yet still won nothing!!

Some people still view that era as some sort of "glory" time. It really makes me laugh. Don't you realise we are where we are now directly because of the failures of him and his mate Pete?

Agree6 Disagree5

Blame risdale not o'leary.

Agree7 Disagree4

You've got to blame Ridsdale AND O'Deary. If we'd kept qualifying for the Champions League the board wouldn't have panicked.

O'Deary took us from top of the league on New Year's Day 2002 to eventually finish fifth. People talk about Simon Grayson's teams collapsing after Christmas - well O'Deary's in that season was the worst and most calamitous capitulation in the club's recent history.

Agree2 Disagree0

Did you see all the injuries picked up in the new year?? we played a second string team for about 10 games in a row

Agree1 Disagree2

Third has got to be George Graham. he didn't win anything but when he came we were on the way down. he came in, steadied the team and put in place the team that O'Leary inherited and then spectacularly managed to ruin. If only he had stayed another couple of seasons.....

Agree2 Disagree1

Haha Grayson 4th I can't believe it are you for real? is this a joke? 4th? wtf maybe 4th worst manager for Leeds wow promotion from lg1 and 1 win against a reserve scum team jeez and that = 4th best Leeds manager your having a laugh are you 12?

Agree0 Disagree2

I heard Radi Antic Is having a meeting with Leeds on Tuesday, Leeds have booked him into the Etap hotel , and taking him for a maccie ds at ER for a big mac and large fries . No expense spared by Bates .

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Etap is a bit pricey... Bates chucked him a sleeping bag.

tired of waiting on who will be our next manager, redfearn's a good guy and has done a terrific job with the reserves, however i feel he isnt the right man to take leeds united forward.

Can't stand him. Please no.

Nobody not even the bookies have the faintest idea who the new leeds manager will be.
They aren't even going to sift through the applicants (which apparently there's loads of) until some time this week.
Lets face it nobody can predict Bates. It could be any of the names mentioned or someone totally out of the blue.
Whoever they appoint even if some of the fans don't like them I just hope they can get behind them 100%.
Personally I think that if Di Matteo is available it will be him.
A good outside bet is Ruud Gullit. Bates would love the prestige of a name like him as manager plus he's currently unemployed so will almost certainly have applied and despite the chelsea connection he is a legend.
I'm not convinced about him as a manager but he would definitely give the lads a boost and attract players to the club.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Agreed - De Matteo a family friend of mr & mrs bates....but i dont think Rudi he is manager material - he doesn't take life seriously enough to take on the role and responsibility - and he and Bates dont get on at all mate

Agree4 Disagree0

06 Feb 2012 19:20:01
An official source has confirmed that David O'Leary will be appointed this week. He has applied and ken feels this would get the fans off his back and also bring further success through the youth ranks.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Oleary achieved alot........but then I reckon I would have done with his unlimited funding! Do you not remember him publishing his autobiography and losing the whole dressing room!?

Agree7 Disagree0

Possible ? - doesnt know the league - but REDDERS DOES .... AS NO 2

Agree3 Disagree0

Whats the official source..? or is this one of them rumours where you can't declare

Agree1 Disagree0

You don't go back. No thanks.

Agree6 Disagree0

We would have a better defence under o leary ,and his training with the young players would be good.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

06 Feb 2012 19:15:47
I think Bates will get one of his old mates in!

Ie ...Ex Chelsea boys...

Thoughts ?

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Would like Di Matteo

Agree2 Disagree3

I second that. Robbie Di Matteo knows his onions.

Agree2 Disagree3

I hope he sticks to onions and doesn't come to Leeds.

Agree2 Disagree1

I dont see it not Di Matteo to close to the bates family not just him also hes wife it could and would cause problems on and of the pitch would definitely destroy any friendship the two families now enjoy.Nope I dont see this happening

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Feb 2012 19:10:46
Neil Warnock would be the best man for the job, although i dont really like him and cant really see him getting on with Bates. Neil Warnock is the best availible and has proved a success in the championship.

Believable11 Unbelievable0

06 Feb 2012 19:10:07
No no not redfearn.need experience.no wonder some players coming out in Favour after one game, especially the under performing ones, think he's an easy touch,in there comfort zone.please don't let us take the easy option.we need warnock or Billy Davies at worst.fire some wrath into them, pull there socks up.one win means nothing at the moment.not against redfearn but it's a kop out.this could be the biggest decision for years and years.whoever gets appointment it will show where bates actually wants us to go,it needs to be good..shrew Leeds

Believable4 Unbelievable3

So why not let him become experienced and prove himself as Leeds manager,im willing to see what redfearn can do .hes already got us a win and playing the ball on the ground again instead of the long ball . he deserves until end of season

Agree4 Disagree3

More importantly he has the backing of the players we want to keep at Leeds - lets give him time, he knows Leeds and the players and looks like he won't take any shat

Bookmakers have today slashed odds on Billy Davies becoming the next Leeds United manager. Odds ranging from evens to 6/4 make the former Nottingham Forest manager clear favourite as Ken Bates flies back to head up the search.

Elsewhere, the rest of the field is now starting to stretch. Former favourites Neil Warnock and Lee Clark are now as high as 10/1 with Labrokes whilst Dave Jones is now at 4/1 with most bookmakers.

Meanwhile, odds on Neil Redfearn continue to shorten with Boyle Sports offering only 7/2 on Leeds’ caretaker manager.

For my money, the best value long shot is currently Sean O’Driscoll who is working for Nottingham Forest as a coach. I’m sure he’ll be looking for a way back into management and with odds of 33/1, a small token bet is surely worth the risk?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Must be doing a cracking job at Forest, have you seen where they are?.

Agree4 Disagree0

06 Feb 2012 17:47:57
Apparently Billy Davies isn't ruling out himself of becoming the next gaffer! I for one would like him to come to Leeds!

Although I don't like him much his record in this league is up there with the best.
Promotion with rams
Preston in playoffs 3 times (now look at them)
And forest....well look at them now with nearly the same squad as last 2 years with a couple of additions - useless without Davies at the helm.

Love him or hate him, a proven manager at this level!

NOOOOOOOOOOO to Billy Davies!

Just put £10 on O'Leary being next manager 50/1 Gj

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Hope to god its not him, couldnt get 5th place with just short of 100m and all the decent kids we had,he wont do anything with £50 in the transfer kitty, should have donated your money to charity instead

Agree5 Disagree0

As your throwing money away I'll send you my address you can give some to me.

Agree5 Disagree0

No chance what a waste of £10

Agree4 Disagree0

Can't see that to be honest .. Good luck tho
Jm

Agree1 Disagree2

I think you will lose it - Bates won't employ someone he has to pay compo for so it will almost certainly be an out of work guy or someone who is already there - if it was going to be an outsider I think there would have been some news by now and as a lot of the players want Redfearn I think he's the man to get it - although I have reservations and think we should get someone in with readfearn as assistant - but only time will tell

Agree1 Disagree0

O'leary is out of work. Good manager. Passionate about Leeds always backs his own players unlike some. I think he would be a good choice we never finished outside the top six which given the choice now I think we'd all be happy with. However I feel that the right person for the job is warnock. Proven manager at this level gets the best out of players on shoestring budgets I.e sheffield united and palace. He'd be the one to get us back to the top flight!

Agree3 Disagree1

06 Feb 2012 16:11:57
I think they'll wait until the end of the season and then go for Paulo DiCanio... He said he that he had given his word to Swindon that he would see out this season and then see what the future holds... What do you all think?

Believable1 Unbelievable4

06 Feb 2012 15:55:35
I think, given the information from the OS, that Redders will not be getting the job. I think he knows this aswell. He is an option but I'm sure he's pretty far down the list. The board, believe it or not, will be looking for a manager that can use proven techniques to get this ailing Leeds United team promoted out of the championship.
As far the rumour of Leeds (Bates) not wanting to get promoted is ridiculous. There is no way any debtor or debt lawyer would let a legal loophole as big as that go unplugged. Yes Leeds will have to pay more for a lot of things but the profits from TV rights and the advertising revenue (that you know will be exploited to it's maximum capacity) far outweigh the poultry 5m being banded around by anti-batesists.
That said, like anything on this website, we'll only really know when they want us to know.
Everything else is hearsay

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Well said. good post.

Agree4 Disagree0

06 Feb 2012 15:49:39
give Redfearn a go, but he can't do it all himself. the entire backroom staff was fired barring him. get an experienced guy in at least to help out.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

06 Feb 2012 15:03:40
I see that McCormack is the latest Leeds player to advocate Redfearn getting the job! This follows in the wake of Snoddy and Lonners doing likewise. They clearly want him as manager.

"It was a shock what happened but we hadn't been playing well," he said in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Confidence

"Redders has come in and given the place a lift. He hasn't changed much, apart from him giving people confidence to express themselves.

Source SSN:

"The players would support whoever gets the job. But I played under Redders a lot last year for the reserves and he has the qualities."

There does not appear to be an ideal/ obvious candidate ( no, not Warnock for me thanks) and he has started well and has a lot of good will. Given that, would it be the worst idea to give him until the end of the season?? If it works out great, if it doesn't there will be a wider field of potential managers to choose from and gives the board a long time to consider who they want. Plus any new boss gets the benefit of a pre-season and a transfer budget ( well, maybe!).

Agree for Redfearn until end of the season

Disagree if you want a new boss from outside now.

BILLY DAVIES WILL BE NEW MANAGER UNFORTUNATELY.

Believable3 Unbelievable9

There is not a boardroom in the country big enough to house the egos of Billy Davies and KB and the same thing applies to KB and Colin

give Redfearn to the end of the season, see if he can prove himself, Houghton did it at Newcastle and was unfairly sacked, lets hope a managerial star is born {Ed020's Note - i agree}

Believable5 Unbelievable6

None of the names that have been linked with us are any more exciting than Grayson. Some of them are downright unpleasant (eg.Billy Davies), and have a historic dislike of LUFC. If Redfearn has got the players on side, give him a crack. Saturday's squad was, on paper, a side with promotion potential. If they perform under the caretaker, fine; it doesn't matter that he hasn't a big managerial reputation. {Ed020's Note - aslong as the points keep rolling in, redders can keep the job in my eyes!!!}

Agree5 Disagree2

Graysons a much better manager than nearly enough all of the managers mentioned

Billy Davies has now become favourite for the job, the 4th different favourite after warnock, clark and dave jones. Clearly nobody has any idea who its going to be. {Ed020's Note - the favorite has changed so many times its untrue, don't go by that anymore, its a way to get money outta people}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

It's the bookies fiddling the odds, they get people betting on the favourite then mysteriously change it. they're making money at the end of the day.

Who in their right mind would want Warnock as Leeds manager after he said this when we got relegated.........."As a proud Yorkshireman, I'll be among the first to offer Leeds my commiserations. Well, I will as soon as I can stop laughing, anyway"

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Our chairman said he wanted us out of the league and we were the scum of the earth, were not a popular bunch are we lol {Ed020's Note - about 25 years ago tho. times change, opportunitys arise, and theres money to be made. i said i'd never get drunk and go to a lap dancing club, but i have!! people change}

That's exactly why we want him as manager. Don't forget he was at Sheff U then and that was a bit of good old yorkshire rivalry banter.

SG had to go. Tactically naive at times. Brought in too many poor players. However I think think it was 'The Sun wot done it'. Leeds bosses would not have liked that kind of publicity and there was dissention in the dressing room. Interesting that O'brian was straight back in the fold!

It will be very interesting to see what happens with a new manager appointment. For me if we are to go up a division we need a proven manager with a track record of success, will bates want to pay for this. If he opts for Redfearn or some other inexperienced puppet it will surely show that he really has no ambition for Leeds and is only raping the club for all the money he can get!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Redfearn's done great with the youth side, and has a 100% record with the first team. If he were appointed, it would be on merit.

Whoever get's appointed deserves a fair go at the job. It doesn't matter what we pay for them, and it certainly proves nothing about Bates' ambition.
