Did anyone hear Franny Lee on Radio this afternoon. He clearly (and of course it was just his opinion) stated that normally the team with the best midfield will win the game. I have always shared this opinion. Think back to our championship winning teams. Currently we have Austin, Murphy and Mowett plus the two wing backs. Leaving aside the wing backs I would say, at the moment our midfield is not at that level where it will dictate and consistently win games. Mowatt and Murphy are young and inexperienced at championship level and Austin isn't quite there yet either. However looking forward I think these three will get stronger and as a result the team will improve. I would however like to see BMD bring in an experienced midfield general as we did with Collins and Strachan to help the other three along and gain experience. Both Collins and Strachan came down a division to join us and people like Bremner, Speed and Battye gained from this. I'm sure there is another like them out there somewhere, we just need to find him. JD

Austin blows hot and cold a lot. he needs a consistent 7/10 man alongside him. the other two aren't there yet, and Tonge is a 6/10 man at best.

Agree0 Disagree0

Big fan of austin me think he will go down a cult hero big time just wish he would perform better away from home

Agree0 Disagree0

Mowatt is the player alongside austin that's been at it every game he's played just needs to start chipping in with a goal or two

Agree0 Disagree0

You could also argue that a strong defence or strong attack wins more matches, in this league its consistency that wins promotion and were miles from that at the mo, let's hope for more quality next transfer window.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you'll find its the team with the best attack, midfield and defence that will win the game. Ridiculous to say midfield only and any way that's just his opinion and yours.

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolute tosh! Austin is grade A (90% of the time lol), Mowatt is coming on strong and Murphy is solid apart from a few missed sitters!
These things do however happen a footballer can't get it right all the time. In my opinion I reckon other teams fear our midfield providing they are at there best but they will always be worried before a game as they could turn up and play great or not but you still fear teams who CAN put it together most of the time.

Ross MCcormack was unlucky not to be named in the Scotland squad IMO and Brian's . I like Ross as a player one off our best. but His last 3 goal celabrations have been a bit silly on Saturday he booted the advertising and mouthed Fu@k off then he kicked the ball towards the crowd after his second. Add this to giving the south stand the finger to his lips shush celabration in the game he missed a pen, some may say if he scores 20 goals this year he can tell the crowd to fu@k off all he wants, maybe so but I say the club has backed you with a new contract (probably partly funded buy us fans) and I'm not sure I'd be telling people to F off if they were paying me that sort off dosh, even if some had a moan at him for not scoring enough. Good player but don't get too big for them footi boots Ross that's all

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ever since he signed his contract he has had a horribly large ego and seems to have some vendetta against the board and fans despite the amount of bum licking that went on on twitter I just hope he comes back down to earth because yes he is a good player and gives his all most of the time but atm he's a right c*ck

Agree0 Disagree0

Even though he is quite cocky, he probably is quite relieved every time he scores. That's probably why he does those celebrations.
Last season against derby he shouted F off warnock when he scored

Agree0 Disagree0

Ross was criticised heavily by some fans when he went through a period without scoring. Fans need to remember that if he is playing as an out and out forward then he will not be involved in build up as much. He is expected to be on the end of build ups to finish off. This means if we are not attacking much then he will not be involved in play as much. Yes he has to try and make things happen but as an out and out striker it will not be as often. He got annoyed because some fans expected him to create and score the goals. He can't do it all. If we expect him to score 20 goals we cannot expect him to be making them as well. Top goals scorers are just that you cannot expect them to be top of assists etc as well. The likes of Alan Clarke, Mick Jones, Lee Chapman and Mark Viduka didn't get involved in build ups much they just scored goals. However Ross needs to ignore unjustified criticism from some fans and remember the majority are behind him. Public acts of petulance will turn more fans against him. He should stop it now and accept that if he plays badly ( and he knows when he does)he will get criticised at some stage. He needs to rise above it, concentrate on scoring goals and graciously accept the plaudits he will receive not make derogatory gestures to fans!

Agree0 Disagree0

Get your facts right what ross said was come on to the fans at the kop end on saturday big wow he has passion isn't that what leeds fans want from there players I for one do it shows he cares stop slating him and start supporting.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's never been shy of vocalising his opinions when the fans go through a phase of criticising players. at least he has a bit of passion.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I criticise a player and he produces the goods he can tell me to F@@@ off all he likes!

Agree0 Disagree0

Reply to get your facts right. They were 100% right. And talk about passion I think off players like Redebe Strac Vinny Dom mattio Gary Mac all had massive passion I can't remember any off them booting advertisement hoarding givein it Fu@k off aimed at the kop. I remember Strac once sitting on the advertisement board after scoring flexing his biceps, those were the days watt a player.

Personally the way some Leeds fans have treated him he deserves it, our most loyal player at the minute had plenty of chances to move and probably get more money but is still here.

Scored many goals for us now, by far our best player and most dangerous player. Yet still gets the most abuse from the minority of people at ER.
