Been away for a bit, few blood tests later all’s good again, January signings debate is so skewed with Bubs in charge, enigma, genius whatever he is nothing seems beyond the guys abilities. The ONE signing I think we need to make after poor Blackman is a goalkeeper and whilst Huffer is a great prospect as we get towards the squeaky end of the season a quality keeper would be a fantastic addition for me.

A Scottish couple took in an 18-year-old girl as a lodger.

Interesting article in the YEP " promotion or heartbreak"
Here is a summary, if my notes and maths are correct!
Since 2000 there have been 29 teams that have had 39 points or more after 20 games. This can include the same team in different years.
Of those 29,
12 have gone up as champions
8 more were automatically promoted
3 were promoted from the playoffs
6 lost in the play offs
It didn't appear from the article that any teams in this position had failed to make the playoffs.
In short since 2000, 79% of the teams with 39 points or more after 20 games were promoted!

Really interesting stats and the teams not making the playoffs, were more in the years just after 2000. As we all know past performance doesn’t Guarentee future results. However it does show how solid an achievement it has been to date to get this squad into this position. And it backs the case for further recruitment if, if, if Bielsa does like the look of anyone. finally I think there there were 2/ 3 years in which no team had reached that number of points.

didn't we all slate shacks not that long back? not good enough? i ain't seen him play enough to judge but some have done a 180 on him when he has not played with seems odd. we all trust in Mb and MB ain't picked him since august maybe there is a reason for that?

For magic man Bielsa to start talking about bringing in this and that player would be against everything he's accomplishad so far.
He's a master at instilling self belief and confidence in individuals, which brings confidence and trust to the squad.
He said a few weeks ago he didn't need any additional signings but others at the club may feel different.
That was a hint that orta and radz were working on deals.
He is protecting his players.
He knows it could be a knock in confidence to a player if he feels someone is maybe going to replace him.
We don't need doubt in a players mind, when we are at this critical period in the campaign.
Masterful thinking from the man.
Imo we may just see 1 or 2 new
Recruits, but I will be happy either way. cheers lads.

Good post Gilesy! This idea that you can flash the chequebook and instantly buy first class players that will fit harmoniously into the squad and improve the performance, particularly in Jan, doesn’t wash with me. It’s always easy to spend other people’s money.
You have to have faith in Bielsa, Orta and Radz! Of course all three want us to be in the premiership and they must think that this year we have at least a good sniff. Buy but right players, right attitude, right price.
It might be a good idea to pick up a few more “kids” for the under 23s as well. They can have a chance to perform there until the summer and we can see how good they are.

Aus just wondering what your work background is and if you have ever managed people for a living?
It is a skill and has a huge effect on team/ people engagement and high engagement equals better results from a team.
To me that is why Bielsa has been able to turn an average group into contenders. They are engaged and believe in his methods.
De-stabilizing that team by talk of replacing some of them will no doubt affect that engagement and results.
If we sign anyone I expect the official announcement will be the first we hear about it for that reason.

Will we won't we. I reckon we will. Orta is putting plans in place now to strengthen in Jan. Bielsa said he did not expect not he did not want, his xmas list is already in. Also final say on recruitment will come from Radz/ Orta. Bielsa would be happy for a couple of additions in Jan as long as they are what he asks for. let's not forget whatever league we are in next season, Baker, Harrison, Brown, all have to go back.

Al, I think Baker and Harrison, are both reasonable squad players to have . Seen them both around the under 23s and seem to have a professional attitude. Given their pedigree, they should be able to play a part for us and I’d expect to see them against QPR but not this Saturday. Brown is rumored to be on a 25k a week contract, so perhaps all we can hope for with him is a great performance until the summer to showcase his talents.
