Lots of players in our league who I think would be good at Leeds. Wallace at Millwall, grant at hudds, eze at qpr, I like lolley at forest too. Prob just Loan 1 or 2 tho. Anyone got any good shouts who could help us secure top 2? Also, was close game today but these types of wins are the ones that get you up, especially with Phillips n coops out.

Pity we can't find the £17m for a cheeky go at the reported January buyout for young Haaland. With him on board we would have no worries about sticking around in the EFL and consequent FFP sanctions. Obviously others would come in with bigger bids and we'd need to rely on his heart ruling his head.

Marginally more realistically, if we can beat Hull on Tuesday and more or less maintain that 17 point gap between us, I'd like us to have a go at Bowen - again, sod FFP.

But in the real world, I'd back your Eze call, or as someone yesterday said, Bacuna could do a job for us.

Bowen, Eze, and Gayle or is that being greedy. Bowen out of contract in July so got to be worth a bid in January.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Dec 2019 14:41:17
As much as I rate Bowen I just can't see him leaving Hull in January. As you say Mezzer, his contract is up at the end of this season. At that time he will have many more suitors and everyone's salary budgets are bigger at that stage.

Personally I believe we need to bring in another striker, because once January has gone we can't sign anyone should either Bamford or Neketha be injured. I know we run the risk of paying for a third striker that never gets game time but with our long term objective in mind, I think it would be an acceptable risk.
I appreciate we have Edmondson waiting in the wings and banging them in for the U23s but throwing him in to a promotion run-in and expecting him to fire the goals to win us promotion isn't the sensible way to manage the lads career.

Further to a forward, I believe we need a reasonably tall and able centre back. I think Struick and Casey are the future, but neither Beradi or Ayling give us that height advantage when they cover the cb area. In fact, out of the 2 positions I have highlighted, centre back is the position I would prefer us to spend big on and possibly look to buy a player who is Premier League capable.
If/ when we get to the PL I think this is the area we are least ready in. I definitely think we have a chance of bidding for White on a permanent basis should we get the PL finances but alongside him I think Cooper is becoming too injury prone to be a reliable partner. We are in a great position now to attract some decent talent with a great career path

Once we get in to the PL our range of striker talent options will be exponentially improved.

The midfield/ winger options we already have are already Premiership standard (note how well those midfield of Aston Villa and Sheffield United are failing in the PL now) so we can drip feed our U23s in to that area.

Bacuna looked useful yesterday. Wished I had seen more of him to make an informed decision but worth a shout?

millwall have two centre backs that would be amazing at leeds.

was interesting watching korna and bonne doing ok in the championship after seeing them at oreint. the other good player they have was england c's marvin epkatata who is a big powerful ball playing centreback who could also make the step up.

Berm - of the two first choice CBs at 'wall, stats on the club's website would suggest Jake Cooper would be the better option - taller and more of a threat in the opposition area, though his shot accuracy clearly needs work - and crucially for Bielsaball, his pass completion is significantly better (80% for passes within own half over 20 matches this season is not to be sniffed at. He's also younger, which though possibly blocking the way for u23 progression this season, could help next season in the likely event that White does not remain here. Given Cooper seems now to be an injury waiting to happen, there would probably still be a chance for some U23 involvement with the first team squad. His contract seems to be up next summer, so he could be available.

08 Dec 2019 19:18:38
Axe, if there is any truth to QSI rumours it may be possible to offer Bowen a contract structure and vision sufficient to entice him to join us, with the possibility of becoming an almost instant ER hero and maybe sufficiently established by the end of the season to become an important part of the project going forward, rather than take a chance of trying to make a pre-season impact or becoming a bit-part player at the highest bidding club next summer.

I guess the true test of whether we should bid for Bowen, as with any potential new signings, would be exactly where he might play and whether Bielsa would feel that he could give him sufficient playing time this season to keep him happy without disrupting the spirit of the existing squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Dec 2019 20:18:32
Clueless

I understand your ideas regarding QSI input. But just taking things in the present time, without QSI, I just think a soare CF and a very good CB is what we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Dec 2019 00:17:41
Axe - not saying Bowen would be the right call, just that we could conceivably get him if the club really wanted to do so - perhaps if Bielsa felt he could readily be converted into a CF. Agree entirely that a good CF and decent replacement for Bera as CB should be the priorities.

Is it possible that Kal's Value, might actually have gone up today, without him even playing?
That was his kind of game, and I personally felt it was him we really missed in the first half.

Should have used the (forced) opportunity to blood a new face in the DM position. We would never drop Kal but the prospect always looms, with his position and style, that one day a red card or injury will occur. I personally feel Shacks or Dallas should have been tried. Just in case, for the future.

Was at work today so didn't see the match but the goals looked decent on the highlights I've seen. Not the best first half I've been told and funny how every team we beat has loads of excuses for the defeat. I was a bit nervous about this match to be honest but made up we have the 3 points and another clean sheet. Start of my birthday weekend so going to neck a few pints. Is it too early to wish all Leeds fans a happy Christmas?

If we can maintain or increase the 8 point gap to third by the end of the match against Brom on 1/ 1, then we will be in a great position and even I will start believing . I could only see Fulham as capable of going on the kind of run that could overhaul us . The bigger the gap between us and them the happier I will be . Big six pointer on 21/ 12! Not worried about anyone else except ourselves and them . Finishing higher than Brom merely a champions bonus .

They did. Pity Bamfords goal was incorrectly ruled out as goal difference and his confidence would both have benefitted.
Thought ref had it in for him today. Allowed him to be man-handled far too much.

07 Dec 2019 20:42:20
That was a joke of a decision for the disallowed goal, just terrible.
And you’re right about Bam’s treatment too, Canada. He was manhandled all day, but stood his ground really well, in a very physical performance from the lad. He goes up in my estimations every time I see him. Their defenders spent 10 mins on the deck in the first half, but apart from when he took a crack to the funnybone, he just got up and got on with it. He’s close to taking the “king of sh1t housery “ throne from Klich!

I worked out the 'injury' delays was part of their plan pretty early.
My thought was it was a tactic to extend the game. Not waste time as such but extend to they could maximize rests knowing we were a lot fitter.
Was confirmed in my mind when they took for ever to emerge for 2nd half.
Good idea but didn't help them haha.

Will Bielsa give Eddie a run of games now, in an attempt tp keep him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2019 18:59:24
Probably not

If you looked when Eddie came on he wasn’t doing the job Bielsa wants from a lone striker

He’s not that type of player

He will, however, be great as an impact sub.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Dec 2019 20:44:46
Two entirely different styles. For a team looking to mainly play fast, counter attacking football, he’s a gem, but for us, he’s really a fantastic second half sub. Whether he, or Arsenal are happy with that, who knows. Other factor tho, is his fitness levels after injury. He won’t be starting for a while.

A game just to celebrate the three points. As a football match it was not a classic but we did enough. Slightly concerned that (first half especially) we were out muscled by a team riven with injuries? Still think that although he did not let us down, playing White out of position was a mistake and should have been rethought especially with the Cooper injury. Still, let's now wait for West Brom to drop some points.

well well well

made a poor team look a lot better than they are

always look suspect with lack of height and no cb playing at cb

played badly really

but great game management gets the points. dirty when needed. quality when needed. clung in when needed.

motm keeper some wonder saves and starting to show qaulity

we don't look better than last year but we look more soild. this said we need another cb a beeter team would of made us pay.

Agree on MOTM Berm.
Think they showed more than a few glimpses of potential, and as Bielsa said to the Cowley’s at the end, if they play like that, they will be moving up the league. They also have a couple of players that’s showed some great promise.

With their obvious height advantage at set pieces, Kiko seems to be returning to kamikaze mode again in desperation. Surely a man of Bielsa's genius can see that the logical next steps for today's positional masterstroke is to bring on Miazek at CB in place of Beradi and sub Nketiah for Alioski, move Bambam to CB, switch Dallas to leftback and Ayling to his usual RB berth.

I jest, obviously.

07 Dec 2019 14:34:07
Talking of transfers, I’d love to see us go after Bacuna. Stroke me as a much more energetic and physical version of Saiz, and would be a great addition in Jan. Korona also looked a much more skilful version of Jack Harrison, with the ability to beat a man as well as cross.

dreading today,

I am finally at the point where i think we are playing well and expecting the win, which is often when we start losing

very worried about beradi playing and although white i think will do a good job in middle of the park bit gutted for a couple of the young lads who i think could do a good job in the middle of the park.

Always dread Yorkshire derbies, after a perfect November results wise also worry that our bubble has to burst some time (but really hoping not! ) Huddersfield have improved lately apart from the Bristol game, they will be out to prove a point today against us. Still take us to just edge this game but it's going to be anything but easy!
