Changed my mind on keeping Monk now after publicly shaming Taylor. Have some class man and keep it within the club.

How you expect him to do that, Hardy? He can't no comment everything.

08 May 2017 09:27:33
hard to call, i like the fact he calls it out but think he hasn't handled taylor or pontus very well. if taylor has been badly advised he should of been sold in jan with specialist left back brought in or made number one and played. Same with pontus it is right to be strong but think pontus has played last game for us and cooper could of cost us points needed for playoffs.

I like principles but think sadly they have no place in football and business now days had taylor and pontus played more we might have at least two more games left this season. also monks man management skills are lacking because he failed to inspire for end of season and lead to a massive slump which sent us from potential second place to no where near playoffs in about 8 games.

Why keep it within the club? Taylor didn't. He didn't refuse to train or play behind closed doors. He refused to wear the shirt of Leeds in public. Monk did the right thing. Go get your pay packet from a Premier League club Charlie and maybe while you have time this summer read through your new contract and see how much you are paying your agent for making you look like a spoiled brat.

Taylor is at fault in this occasion not Monk

Agree4 Disagree0

08 May 2017 09:32:03
He did right to share it, why not. Fans have a right to know. I would have sold him in jan as he wants to go. You want players who will fight for the club, he is not one of them.

08 May 2017 10:57:17
Totally agree with what Mr Monk has done, CT has acted in a completely unprofessional manner. If he had bothered playing I would have said thanks and good luck to the lad but now . sod off and don't come back, Judas.

Monk would have been asked by countless journalists why Taylor wasn't playing. Would anyone have preferred him to lie to us all and say he wasn't selected because of an injury or lack of form, when we all know the truth? I know I wouldn't, we've had too many lies over the last few years at the club. I don't blame him for sharing the news. Greedy player advised by a greedier agent. That's modern football though. MM

In hindsight should have let him go in January, or even last summer

Agree1 Disagree0

08 May 2017 11:32:45
But Taylor doesn't want to be within the club

Agree1 Disagree0

08 May 2017 11:35:15
Yesterday’s decision by Taylor sums up his attitude for most of the season. I have watched a player, that when played, did not seem interested. None committal going forward, looking for the easy sideways pass on numerous occasions and pulling out of challenges when the odds were 60-40 in his favour.

The injury starting in December could be viewed as interesting timing and could also be viewed as an attempt to force a move in January. When this did not happen it took another 2 months to heal. I am no Doctor and accept that different players have different recovery rates but this was an Achilles strain (it did not snap) and should not have taken the best part of three months to recover from.

The initial damage in relationship between club and player, more likely agent, was done when Cellino played games with the Byram saga, Taylor’s future at the club as his contract ran down was only going to go one way.

I do not blame Taylor for wanting to leave for Premier League football however the same end goal could have been achieved with more dignity and grace. His actions, probably based on poor advisement, should not be condoned.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 May 2017 13:16:34
I think we will all agree that if a player moves to play at a higher level, disappointing that they would be leaving us, if they had put in reasonable effort we would wish them well. Taylor hasn't done that and has spent this season ensuring that he avoided injury. His under par performances have been noticeable and yesterday's decision to go on strike is the final straw. Premier managers will have taken note and this action could scupper any move he is hoping for. Remember Foristerri doing the same thing at the start of the season. His move never materialised. WBA have previously linked with Taylor, can't see Pulis wanting a player with no backbone. Bye Charlie, I'd like to wish you luck but I can't

hearing comments like '' you will have to live with it for the rest of your life'' and '' he's let himself down'' you would think Charlie Taylor has just killed someone. People take football too seriously at times. 14 years service to the club and we treat are young players like this.

08 May 2017 09:15:18
It's an overreaction of words for sure but what else do you expect? What most Leeds fans are calling him now is unprintable and unbroadcastable yet those names are the truth. Personally I hope we get 6m for him and then he gets injured for awhile. Karma can be a sand filled landscape near an abundance of water most of the time.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 May 2017 09:32:36
There was no reason for him to pull out of the last game of the season. Fans could have said their farewells to him but instead he chose to ignore the fans and the club. Yes he stayed with us for 14 years but we supported him for 14 years as well. Sad way to end.

Well I have followed Leeds since I was 7 years old (56 now) I have seen Billy and the boys the fantastic team Wilko made and some great players over the years. So who does Charlie Taylor think he is? He is a decent prospect and No one would blame him for making the most he can from his profession but to refuse play is an insult to everyone who has been involved with this club over its entire history. People like him and his advisors should be dealt with by the FA under the fit and proper persons test and given a lengthy ban to stop players thinking this is an acceptable way to behave. Bad day for LUFC and football as a whole.

agree mate but we don't know what happened. Pontus has also had a few issues recently. They are both wrong but we don't know what happened and could be something to do with monk. let's be honest taylor was kept to play second fiddle to beradi which was an insult. if i was kept in jan and then not played when i was the better player by a mile i might have the hump and say i poke it i ain't playing. it might be to monk he won't play not leeds, without being there it is hard to say

League looks a little easier next year, if we can pad out the team a little next term to cover fatigue and find some wingers that can actually score a respectable amount we have a great shot at top 2. We need to keep our better players too though, that might be the hard part.

07 May 2017 17:40:17
Not the best run in but a creditable 7th nonetheless. Today, and for a while, bags of possession and very few shots on target is woeful. A big improvement next season is needed if we are going anywhere in an upward direction. Pity about Charlie Taylor's attitude if Gary Monk is to be believed. Refusing to play when you are contracted to a club is indefensible.

It's not altogether surprising as I have said in the past he has a truculent streak and can be a bit mouthy when it comes to criticising the management/owners. (IMO) . I remember his comments a while back when he was coming out in support of Aidie White. I didn't like what he said then and I don't like what he has done today.

If the manager knew what he like, irrespective of his agents influence, he should never have played this season. Leaving Beradi out for him wouldn't have been right. The sooner he packs his bags the better. Good riddance.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

07 May 2017 19:41:35
Can't say Taylor was right but I can see his point. Meaningless game so why take the chance on getting injured and ruining a potential good move? Personally I believe he's a premiership defender and therefore I don't hold it against him for wanting to leave. How long should he wait for promotion? He's not a young player anymore, almost mid twenties, and wants to play at highest level not to mention a nice tidy pay rise! Again I'm 50/50 on his decision but I still say all the best and good luck.

07 May 2017 21:35:28
He can leave.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 May 2017 22:21:15
Couldn't disagree more. Don't have a problem with him wanting to move on. But refusing to play. Unforgivable imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 23:46:37
Why should Taylor play in a meaningless game? because he is paid and contracted to do so. Yes he wants to play at the highest level but has an obvious attitude problem, While I agree his agent is mostly to blame, Charlie is in his mid twenties and is resoonsible for his own actions. Having said that I will try not to laugh when he spends most of next season sitting on the bench for whatever club are mugs enough to sign him.

well lads good season over all, wood been great as has the defensive displays and unit as a whole. creative and midfeild been little dissapointing but thing certainly lookinf up on and off the park looking forward to a positive pre season and think i we will move forward. As for monk well done overall however 6 points out of 24 to finish is relegation form and might that carry into next year? from postion we was in to finish 5 points out of it certainly gives arguement to getting rid. either way i will be hsappy and hope good times are returning MO? T and happy summer to all

Agree1 Disagree0

07 May 2017 15:36:44
Bermo its been very very poor for a good few months! One could blame lack of investment in the Jan window, but the players we have got us up to third not that long ago, so I don't see that as an excuse. I'm sorry, but scraping a draw with an already relegated team who have been poor all season speaks volumes to me. Even with full investment I just don't see monk as the man to get us up! Honestly if he stays I don't see us progressing much at all next season, as apparently all the defensive work has been down to pep. which then begs the question if peps sorted the defence what exactly has monk done? We are very poor in the middle and fully rely on wood for goals. Ok he might have done well with wood, but then why have the other forwards not improved if it is down to coaching and not just woods overall talent?

Agree0 Disagree2

07 May 2017 15:58:17
Well i will have to agree with that bw. Have to add that although Wood did really well our attacking was pretty crap. Yes we did well to be up there in new year but even though transfer window was not the best we can't use that as an excuse for the collapse towards the end. When the we should have been on the front foot we seemed to sit back and look to score on break. But things will change in the coming months as you say, let's hope there is some money about as we need quite a few players especially if we lose a couple.

Agree1 Disagree1

really we were an average team with a wonder striker considering woods form it is poor we didn't get playoffs the more i read and think about it the more i want monk to go. many are talking about jan window but it is a hard window and it is not like everyone else invested while we stood still no one did anything in jan window so for me that is a cop out, think we/monk just lacked. to annoy Aus I would rather grayson come back he did better under bates than monk did under mc/rad. Come back larry finish what you started

Agree0 Disagree2

07 May 2017 17:54:00
Think about the start and end of the season. In a 45 game season we have been in relegation form for at least 20 games of it. Then the remaining games only fully convincing in a handful. When you look at it that way it's really not been that good performance wise!

Agree1 Disagree2

07 May 2017 19:02:52
Thing is we were in great form before xmas then it all started going to pot when we changed players about. Shows lack of depth in squad but also lack of ideas. Seems to me all our managers concentrate on defence which is a good base to start from but then need to step it up. Can only see what happens pre season and hope we progress. Thing is we now want to be up there challenging next season as well so expectations from above need to rise.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 May 2017 19:51:19
Good post bige. But it is Monk who works with these players daily and maybe he realised early that defensively is where we are at our strongest and played accordingly. No point going gung ho if you ain't got the players? Let's be honest we don't have much talent up front.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 23:40:13
Some things change and some stay the same. Good posts from Bermo and Cur there. Hooks still a funny dude. Monk stays for me but only just. He made himself look foolish with his remarks a few days ago that CT has been professional this season when clear he has not. Obvious CT was about to embarrass him hence Monk appeasing him in the media days before. Half the games he played he looked disinterested so bit of Monkey nonsense at the end.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 May 2017 09:34:11
Thing is we only played with wood up front all season. If Roofe and Ant can't do it need to go. If Monk thinks Douks is a better striker than both of them then they don't have much hope.
