Heckingbottom happy to leave Cooper as captain that's a bad start, Cooper is no better than a squad player like most of them, TC should have grown some balls and stripped him of the captaincy after his 2nd sending off.

He's club captain, not necessarily team/playing captain. Obviously he has leadership characteristics as he's been selected to lead by consecutive managers. If he is not up to the job on field, PH can still drop him from the team selected.

He got selected by the players. that was tc's way if doing it, he has zero leadership qualities and has let the team and himself down so many times, lucky man to play for lufc never mind be club captain

Tues, Sep 19, 2017. Leeds travel to Turf Moor to take on a team who are sitting 6th in the Premier League. We take them down on penalties but only after needing to go to extra time after concerning a penalty in the 96th ? minute of regulation time. We did this away from home. We had no Saiz. We had no Pontus. What we did have was Lonnergan, CBJ, Klich, Grot and Cibiki. Yet we still took them down. Because what we also had was confidence. If PH can bring that back into the team's game there is no reason the Blades can't be made to suffer this weekend. MOT.

Has all the sunshine gone for us leeds fans? It seems like nobody has any faith in the team or the management or the owners. If this is the case we should be calling for radz to go. There were groups calling for Massimo to go and I don't think the atmosphere was as bad as now

My point is that under Cellino I don't think the feeling was as bad yet fans were calling for his head. Now posters were calling for TC to go Orta out heck not good enough. These appointments all down to Radz. The buck stops somewhere

From that point of view Wex, you're right. There is a lot of passionate negativity on here, and people have the right to express that. Like AL says, I think a more accurate description of the feelings of most fans is simple frustration, with positivity for the best position we've been in for years albeit off the pitch. Personally, I don't understand the extreme views on here; maybe impatience having had unrealistic expectations of how quickly the new regime would deliver?

No bad vibes from me Wex. TC not up to it but he's gone. Heck will prove better than TC so I'm good on Radz except for crestgate. As for Orta, he may turn things around but he is still a bad egg. This season does represent a massive chance missed though when a simpler approach would have seen us finish 2nd. Next season shall be much harder.

A lot of potential first team defensive cover being used in the development squad game today, strujik, Diaz, Rey and Paudie all in the team as is Pearce! That's 4 players listed as centre backs! Alpo Halme is not included, will he be on the bench tomorrow. Have I missed anyone? Who is our defensive cover going to be?

and the issue is that its easy to say we need to cut the squad and get rid of those who don't make the grade but when they are on long term contracts and nobody else wants 'em (because they don't make the grade) you have a problem. If he freely admits that some of them aren't up to it surely he needs to take a long hard look at Orta?

Well put alf. And needs to admit he got it wrong too. He was the one dishing 4 yr contracts out on lazy foreign players who play at walking pace in the sunshine everyweek instead of hardened players used to being kicked from one side of the pitch to another in the mud and rain.

Morning all. It appears clear that the new manager has divides opinions, with some very strongly held. I always find that a good way of assessing a situation is to reverse roles, ie put yourself in the other guy's shoes. Thus if I found myself Leeds manager, the team I love and have always loved and they had given me a new contract, the fact that Barnsley or whoever were bigger and came knocking would mean sod all to me. I would not walk away from Leeds. The only way I would give up Leeds job was if I thought that my continued presence as manager was damaging the club. Man U or Barcelona could come knocking, but if Leeds wanted me to stay, I would turn down all comers. That is my issue with Heck and I think that some of you are being a bit harsh on the guys on here who don't want him. MOT.

{Ed001's Note - you are forgetting that Barnsley owner Cryne had just recently died and it was in the midst of a great change to a different ownership, which includes Billy Beane. Does anyone know if there had been any issues between the new onwership group and him? Or whether or not there were going to be money problems due to Cryne's death which left them in desperate need of the £500k?}

Surely both Becks and the new ownership will have been aware of latest position re each other prior to new contract being signed. I would presume so.

{Ed001's Note - the contract was signed much earlier than the announcement, because of Cryne's situation they held off announcing it. Not knowing for sure how far in advance means we have no idea, it could literally have been the first thing done and he only found problems working with them afterwards.}

Aus, believe me. Steve Bull stayed with Wolves when he could have earned more. You have just proved me point though, I criticise his appointment and I am effectively called a liar. Bit harsh, as have been some of the comments against contributors who are not at ease with his decision.

Ed when did the owner die? because he only signed a new contract last week so if he had issues why Sign?

IN his press conference, he seems o suggest that the contract was about a year ago but it wasn't implemented until more recently and he lost out financially due to that delay as he wasn't getting his increased pay. he also states that because the new contract has a release clause Barnsley made £500k more than they would have got otherwise, so it sounds like the only reason the new contract was implemented was for the £500k and NOT for the benefit of the manager. sounds like the club knew he was off anyway (and disillusioned due to the transfer policy and having the players he spent lots of time building up sold from under him) and implemented the contract to avoid missing out financially. Don't know how much is true but it certainly puts a different slant on things.

Most managers of small clubs love it when one of there fledglings makes it big alf and would not stand in there way moving to bigger clubs. I loves cook but wouldn't of stood in his way of playing at a higher level. He got paid if they stayed or went.

Martyn_G . Think you have to take Hecks comments in context, they were more to do jealousy than anything. People didn't day, I "envy" Leeds, because that reflects on them . Those words were born out of local rivalry and Leeds being the biggest and most successful local club

I wouldn't not even for a massive pay rise. He's jumped ship with them knowing there going down so it's not on his CV. It's no difference to when smithy left us for man utd. He got death threats. Your like sheep. Let's all support hecky he's our new massia. 6 months time were going to be back here again second guessing who our next boss will be and if he will get us out of this division. Groundhog day PA and another year wasted in this division. Rescued a Barnsley fan wagon driver up on weds on m62 and towed him back. Was a interesting chat as he spent most of it laughing at us. Now that tells you something.
