If possible I would like Villa and Brighton to go down so we have more pull with Ben!

I think if we manage get to promise land this season them me thinks the bub will attract some cracking players nothing against this group of players but I think we need 5 or 6 hadin to squad but let's get there fust come onnnnnnn.

I actually believe current squad is good enough for mid table. MB is a genius imo and with shrewd investment we can be the new Wolves.

Agree6 Disagree0

09 Mar 2020 22:32:02
Obviously would need a striker another Hernandez and huge ball playing center back minimum.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Mar 2020 09:07:30
I think we would add a couple more on to of the ones we have a commitment to buy, but not many. Like Corky, I think we would hold our own in the PL with the current squad. There was some PL pundit who watched us vs Hudds who said “The PL is not ready for Leeds and Bielsa”.

10 Mar 2020 09:55:42
No proper left back, Need two CBs if Ben goes. Will JKA be good enough as Bam is not, even then need another striker. Cover for Pablo. We are bare bones at the moment in a few positions so def need more in than just the ones we are committed to buy. Good players in our squad will probably keep us safe in bottom half of table but not without additions to defence and attack, unless Costa, Harrison and Klich find some scoring boots.

10 Mar 2020 10:02:44
I think we would be fine with 11 or 12 new signings.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Mar 2020 12:27:12
Bielsa is loyal

I would expect the same team . depending on whether Brighton sell Ben to us .
With four or five further additions purchases to the squad. centre forward, leftback, centre back, number 10,.

Let's not start slagging Neil Harris or any other teams managers off it only inspirs them on I know it's a bit banter but let's use our heads int run in MOT.

Revie v Bielsa? Which is the best?
Perhaps not so many of you remember Revie, I grew up in his era and had great admiration for him and the team
Attention to detail-Both of them are definitely our best managers when it comes this, and difficult to split them, very few can rival them
Brand of football- Bielsa definitely better, more exciting and positive, Revie's system was sometimes a bit tedious
Results- Of course Revie wins here, but if Bielsa stays for a while?
Aggression- This is the controversial one! As we all know under Revie we got ( unfairly) the name of "Dirty Leeds", but I'm sure many would agree it would be better to be known for a "Clean " brand of football, which Bielsa's system provides
Other criteria?

Spleeds, there really is no contest mate, they are also very different.

Two different games then and now. For instant we don’t play with a pigs bladder filled with sand anymore and players don't get paid 2 shilling and 40 woodbine and a token for a gallon of mild a week so it’s incomparable.

09 Mar 2020 14:31:40
Purely on the fact we've won nothing yet, he's in 3rd place!

09 Mar 2020 15:31:43
Unfortunately Bielsa hasn't won anything yet. In addition the Leeds team under Revie also played some scintillating football and actually had strikers who knew how to score. Midfielders also could bag quite a few as well. I like watching the Bielsa team even though they are frustrating at times but you can't compare at the moment. Current team playing in Championship, and can struggle to get a result at times when well on top. The Revie team usually won when on top. That's what happens when you have the likes of Clarke, Jones, Lorimer, Gray, Giles scoring and Charlton and Hunter shoring things up at the back. Revie brought them through from the 2nd division, the academy and some shrewd transfers. If Bielsa can do that- good on him. Wilkinson also has done better. Let's wait and see.

come on even putting belisa in the same breath as the don is more premture than a horny boy on prom night.

Belisa hasn't got us up yet, if he does he will of done alright but still not as good as many others who have done better (wilde is first to spring to mind)

if/ when we go up, then belisa would have to get us in europe leagues to be considered in same breath as the don and then our greatest ever manager wilko.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Mar 2020 18:07:07
Wilde? When has he managed us?

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Mar 2020 19:10:04
wilde hasn't but my point is for us to put belisa in the same breath as don means wilde is much better than the don (which he is not) but must be by comparison. if that makes sense

bit like saying Dallas is as good as speed which would make any player better than dallas better than speed. i think i make sense but i haven't drunk for a while and i think it is affecting my brain.

Thought it would be good to get the discussion going and providing another line of discussion rather than the obvious which it certainly did.
I will however make a couple of points about under Revie
Leeds were as I described until the 70's
Leeds won promotion in 63/ 64 without a recognised striker
Revie was reluctant to overspend
It was not until 67-69 that Mick Jones and Alan Clarke joined which was the beginning of a new era of more exciting football

Lastly I totally agree it is far to early to make comparisons for the whole of Revie's reign
However for the early years the comparison is clear, the only difference I see is the style of football at hat time
With Bielsa it is a different way of getting out of the second division.

A very good watch on Youtube is The Story of Don Revie and "Dirty Leeds"

true spleeds it did raise a good point

I have been overly harsh about belisa and he is proving me wrong but he still has his faults. At worst he is a flaw stubborn manager with good points, at best he is a great manager with big flaws.

He is winning me over as even i can't argue with our results but i still think he is no where near as good as a few other managers about at the moment/ recently.

Pearson, wilde, faulk, wagner and warnock (yes warnock he is the master at this level) all at the moment for me have proven themselves better than belisa. that said if/ when he gets us up he will have a chance to prove how good he really is. same goes for phillips. i don't rate him but in the prem he has a chance to prove me wrong week in week out.

I will finish with this
I was 11 in 1962 when I started to support Leeds
I just have the same feeling now as I did then
I hope I am right, and Bielsa stays and goes on to be a legend, but as I say there is one positive difference in the type of football at the start of the journey which is where we are at the moment. So it could just be an even better journey.

Ayling goal reminiscent but way better than the goal scored by that Canary Jeremy 3 decades ago. If you combine their names appropriately, you get Luke Goss of Bros fame or even infamy.

{Ed033's Note - If you're into the Cheltenham Racing Festival starting tomorrow, Ed067 has and will be posting tips and stuff on our Horse Racing Page

Also, if some of you haven't noticed the 2 large, grey drop down menus just before the start of the posts that read: Links to our rumours sites and Links to our talk sites, then take a look if you are interested in other subjects other than football. Some of these sites do have regular contributors and would benefit from a few more.

Some sites i'd like to highlight are:

1. Our Boxing site

2. Our Conspiracy site (which now talks about the nature of our reality, but you need to be open minded or ideally 'Woke' in order to comprehend the site.)

3. Wrestling site
