Had a few now so please ignore my ramblings if you wish. A point on young Erwin. A loan didn't do Taylor any harm.

Or Beckford when he was loaned out. Here's hoping Erwin scores a boat load and returns to us the finished article.

Some say players should show loyalty towards their club. Then surely the same thing should apply regarding club to manager? Otherwise all we have is utter turmoil. History proves thus.
I am not saying Rosler should be given untold time, but surely enough time to make his mark, good or not so good. Wilkinson and George Graham started off quite slow with lots of draws I seem to remember. Personally, I believe things ain't too bad. One or two poor performances alongside a couple of good displays so far, with quite a few new players, is not all bad. Formation, tactics etc has been questioned on this site going back a few years now. From Grayson, Warnock and Redfern everyone has an opinion on these things. Let the manager do his job and if he fails you can say "i told you so".
But for now, let Uwe do his job and let's hope he can do a good one.

I do agree sort of
I don't think uwe has it but he prob deserves 3-4 games more with new players to see if he can turn it round. The number one thing for me. Is goalkeeper. Start changes at back.

Cork

Got to disagree. 433 is just plainly wrong. That's the reason for our plight. Wilko hit the ground running and Graham was such a master defensive tactician for a season he turned Robert Molenaar into Beckenbauer.

Rosler has not done much to improve the quality of the first team. What he has done is confuse them. Keep it simple and play 442. Simple test. Forget international football. Which league side won anything playing that formation? I don't recall any. The player who needs to step up and help Rosler is Cook in center of park.

I think he was referring to how many more games Uve should be given to turn things around George, not the formation of the team, although you do make a good point , especially about Cook. He needs to help Uve

Im pretty sure Wilko only won 1 game out of his first half dozen or so. Long time ago but he did not hit the ground running. As for 433 formation. Barcelona, R Madrid and Premier League Champions Chelsea all play that way. I know you will say they have better players but so do many other sides who play 442. Its not all about formation mate, as shown when we played Sheff Wednesday. 442 that day and only a couple of shots on target in an abject display.
Personally I couldn't care less what way we play, but we need results sharpish. One point that hasn't been mentioned for a while is the need for an experienced player in midfield. i'd give the wife's right arm for another Strachan!

Sorry Cork, usually agree with you but I've never seen a bigger transformation in all my time watching Leeds as when Wilco took over. Lethargic overweight players turned into leaner, faster, more determind players within a week. Rosler will have had two weeks and I'm expecting similar results for our next game. Manager and players have been quiet all week. Hoping that means there working hard.

10 Oct 2015 14:48:56
You're right Deda, but my point was really that Wilko only had one win in his first five games. Some folk nowadays would be calling for his head after such a start!

Agree that people are impatient. George we play 4-5-1 not 4-3-3,with wood as a lone striker. This can work as Cork would testify (Republic) from 80s onwards. What I'm trying to say is I want to see us looking like we want to win a game rather than going through the motions and hoping for the best.

If we show the right aptitude against Brighton, regardless of the result, I will clap the players off the pitch and argue that Rose be given more time. Another performance like Birmingham and his days are numbered.

Apologies I read the wrong post George. On the subject of formations, why not try a 3 4 3? Especially at home , really go for it . Berradi , bamba, Cooper back 3. Taylor , cook ,ade, byram middle 4 . Dollar, wood , wizard front 3 , with anti champing at the bit to come on for any of the front 3 and Murphy for ade maybe . Nothing else is working and this would really take it to teams I'm sure

For me the game is simple. It's about scoring goals. That's the end product. You need a goalscoring partnership. Unless Antenucci plays with Wood we don't have one. Let them forge an understanding and hope the midfield can weigh in with goals. Simples. But playing 433 or 451 is not the answer.

I agree to a certain extent but since Mr mourinho introduced the 4 5 1 , it has been the recipe for success. Playing 4 in midfield we'd get over run against a 5. You need midfield to control the game in order to create chances for the strikers . Unless you play hoof ball 4 4 2 will not work these days . Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there's many successful teams that play 2 out and out strikers. The only way it can work is if the 2 are outstanding

Anyone else think that the academy players have not performed since Redfearn left. Rossler needs to get a grip of them fast. They should be playing for the club & not the coach/manager. Makes you wonder what Redfearn & Thompson would have done with this squad. I am happy with the squad but still feel we need a good quality central defender, another striker (can't help feeling Erwin didn't get a chance)and maybe a decent midfielder in January.

Totally agree Liver. Taylor is prospering because still 4 at back but the loss of a midfield player and the wingers acting like wingers is hurting Cook and Mowatt.

Think we have a good team but we are lacking in courage and belief, and that includes Rosler. He has to be strong enough to make changes. We have Turnbull, Grimes and Horton who are capable so Sylvestri should not be automatic choice when he starts costing us goals. Byram and Botaka down the right should give defences nightmares if Byram still wants to impress buyers, hard on Berardi but Byram gets forward. Only two strikers left, Mulhern and other young ones not ready yet imo, so not much choice so them two up front.

Mowatt has not added anything to his game since making the first team, stood still really so need to look at more attacking options in his position, Phillips or Dawson. Taylor and Dallas down left, cbs are what we needed did not get so they pick themselves. Cook takes the other midfield slot until some one steps up to challenge, Leaves Buckley, Murphy, Mowatt. Berard, Ady, Berlusci, Sloth, and young ones like Coyle, Skelton, Mulhern to fight for places on the bench. Not a massive squad really but think players should spend time on bench if not performing. Do not understand why Erwin is out on loan.

What has happened to Casper sloth? He must be kicking himself that he can't get into a midfield that are playing so poorly. We obviously don't see him day to day in training but surely he has to be better than some of them at the moment.

Bige mate Grimes is nowhere near ready yet. As for for Phillips taking Mowatts place as an attacking midfielder. don't think so. Dawson maybe but Phillips no.

Bige

One more point. Strange statement to make about Cook. You say if someone else steps up they will take his place (insinuating he's playing poorly) and the midfield will function better? He is our best homegrown player since Woodgate!

10 Oct 2015 10:43:46
Corky maybe not grimes but would put phillips above mmowatt at this time, given more playing time he will be better than mowatt, but time is on his side. No not saying drop cook but others should be pushing for his place so maybe we could give him a rest now and then.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Oct 2015 14:56:04
Bige I agree Phillips will be a top player as he has the lot. Just believe Mowatt is more suited to the advanced role of a midfield three.
As for Cook, at his age he should be rested occasionally. But it's always difficult to leave your best player out of the side. And he is our best player imo.

Think next few games will show us if Rosler is capable or a one trick pony. can't change the whole team to suit his style of playing so needs to come up with something that gets the best out of the good players we have

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Oct 2015 12:20:15
