Some exciting matches in Champions league tonight

Had a chuckle at Barcelona Hierarchy no doubt losing it . being 4 2 up on in first half on aggregate but losing 6 4 eventually.

Not a fan of way Barcelona president and Raph agent Deco dealt with Leeds United over Raph.

I think George is a bit more than a tad despondent Baz.
Southampton very fortunate to be playing a team with nothing to play for, a victory for them was not a surprise. We still have a superior goal difference over them and Ipswich if this goes to the wire which I think it will.
You can thank Jimmy for that if it comes down to goal difference, the player you want the club to sell!

A few things i am not liking at the moment
Players getting visibly annoyed with each other on pitch, throwing hands in air, the argument about the penalty in the Hull
Game, the discontent from the players being subbed as well, I also notice summerville letting everyone know his name when he scores, it's about him not the badge or the club . I'd drop summerville out the squad totally as to me I think it's a bad influence and I think is eyeing a move .

Bang on the money Mighty re Summerville.

16 Apr 2024 03:56:09
Play him while we’ve got him but he does come across as an arrogant egotist. Big fish in little pond, if big boys come with the loot he will fade into obscurity. Look at PHILLIPS, lost years of his career trying to slide in above his level - but then if you were offered his kind of loot wouldn’t you . Summerville is quick and small but a couple of outings against some Italian or German defensive assassins and he will slow down.

Agree1 0Disagree

16 Apr 2024 07:13:23
It does make you think that something has gone on behind the scenes that's possibly caused our bad form since the Watford game. Remember the palace game where something happened at half time and we got battered 2nd half. I'm staying positive (we'll try to) that it's just a bad patch) , which has ended and we'll be back to our best for the next 3 games 🤞.

Good point raised, I got slated on here a few weeks ago about pointing out his body language and attitude, and I stick to my opinion.
Whilst I like him as a player, and don't get me wrong he has kept us up there with his goals, he is always one touch too much. He hardly every makes the right pass to a player with much more space and time, just tries to bring it on his right foot and shoot. His body language just screams disinterested to me, and maybe he has had offers, but if so you would think it would incentives his game or could it be that they have said you're not for sale at any cost, and like Elivis, he's caught in a trap.

Agree1 0Disagree

16 Apr 2024 08:10:45
Well let’s just get rid of one of our best players because maybe his attitude might not look quite right to a few fans and he points to his name on his shirt when he scores one of the many goals he has scored for us season.
I give up!

Agree1 0Disagree

16 Apr 2024 08:22:43
Op that's definitely not what I am saying about Jimmy, it's more to do with what i see when i watch him play, is it a potential behind the scenes issue that may be affecting him. I really like him as a player, and yes he is certainly one of our best, and to reiterate my post his goals have been invaluable.

Agree2 0Disagree

16 Apr 2024 11:46:53
Dougie, i just think he’s probably an over confident immature cocky kid and there’s a lot of them I’m sure in professional football.
So long as he is giving 100% working for the team and scoring goals he can have whatever look on his face as far as I’m concerned.
The great thing about Jimmy he’s still not the finished article in my opinion, there’s potentially a top top player in there and I hope to God he’ll prove that with us.

16 Apr 2024 12:30:53
Few things,

All footballers are arrogent, you have to be to make it. To train hard and believe you can make it there has to be an air of arrogance. The name thing when scoring is what players do.

This behind the scenes stuff…. Give it a rest, this is not another o’ Leary killing the club with a stupid book, it just pressure

Leeds, Ipswich, arsenal, Liverpool and lesciter are all feeling it at the moment… so is there a problem at every club? Course not so don’t put things there

Football is a hard game and pressure is a killer in any profession or walk of life.

It can often come down to luck. Like all teams above we played poorly against Sunderland but unlike every other club we was cheated with two clear pens.

Had we got them pressure lifts and maybe we beat Blackburn and go up as champs.

Pressure is everywhere, teams getting cheated is just at leeds

Long live farke.

I hope it is just the case of us reading too much into it. Clearly, as things have gone off the rails a little, players are reacting in different ways. I think we would be equally surprised all the same if the players were behaving as if every was still going swimmingly.

A good result at boro is obviously important, but it might lift the mood and attitude for the last two games.

Baz, I don't think O/ P says he has no issue with it; he is not making it out to be as bigger deal as some. Quite frankly, my opinion is that CS has his mind elsewhere promoted or otherwise, but deep down we all know that anyway. You said he should be sold anyway because he's not good enough for the EPL, even though he is arguably our best player when on song.

To be honest, I couldn't give two hoots about his attitude / arrogance / smugness or whatever, as long as he does the business for the next 3 [or 6] games. Same for them all.

I might be a bit of a sentimentalist, but I think JR is worried without promotion, Leeds won't buy him [won't be able to afford him]; I think he wants to be at Leeds and there's a chance he won't be.

Ani but with all about me players

when things go wrong ie defeats

" team harmony / spirit" evaporates super fast

A significant reason little ole League 1 Ipswich are ahead of Leeds, Leicester and Saints they have a better superb team spirit of honest pros each fighting 120% for the promotion cause . no big time Charlies planning their next move.

Agree0 0Disagree

16 Apr 2024 17:36:14
I don't disagree with you Baz [maybe that's a first]; no doubt team harmony and spirit is hugely important; we're only speculating that we don't have it because of "sour" reaction of one or two players after some poor team performances.

As for Ipswich having no big time Charlies, well time will tell on that one, i. e. let's see how many are playing for them next season, promotion or otherwise. No doubt they have a great fighting / never give up spirit, but to be honest, so do we (most of the time) . We don't know what is being put in these guys heads; remember, they're basically kids, easily influenced.

Think it’s harsh in Summerville

When players leaves it’s business. We support the club they are employees. If they do bad the club get rid of they do well they jump ship.

I’m what other job would a promotion to a better company paying more be looked upon badly?

When many wanted to jump ship like gnoto and sinisterra Summerville didn’t. We should all remember that.

Davis is a typical beilsa defender, amazing going forward but awful at defending. Personally I’m old school and like defenders to defend first

Anyone see the irony in that the most beilsa like defender was not given a chance and forced out of the club by, you guessed it! Belisa

Funny the statler and Waldorf of the group are moaning about losing a player that there god forced out?

Brilliant.

Agree2 0Disagree

15 Apr 2024 22:03:16
Berm

1.Davis is a proven match winner at Champo level ; specialist in getting promoted

2.Bielsa loved and played ' Very good Davis '

3.You be wrong ; it was Orta and Marsch ( not Bielsa ) who foolishly sold Davis in July 2022.

4.I admire Bielsa first 3 years but he is not my " god " as you keep erroneously stating.

Wrong ( as usual ) Berma on all counts 😂🤣

1) Davis defensively would not have much to do this season . Whereas his assists would ensure Leeds were champions

2 ) Bielsa liked " very good Davis " and played him.

3) Leif Davis was sold by clueless Victor Orta and Jesse Marsch ( NOT Bielsa ) in July 2025 .5 months after Bielsa had left the club!

Berm So Jesse Marsch is Marcelo Bielsa. Nice plot twist!

Agree0 0Disagree

16 Apr 2024 10:05:40
I Don't think it was a case of anyone being forced out berm. Bielsa had Davis in a lot of his first team squads. It was more his age and timing. We had more experience in front of him including dallas.

We went into the prem and Davis was never going to be first choice. It took him a move to league one and now the championship and I still think he might struggle with the prem if they go up. I would have given him a couple of loans but I don't know what his contract details were.

I think it happened with a few of our youngsters. Our rise under bielsa was that rapid that young players bought for a middling championship team were suddenly faced with developing and breaking into a championship winning or a prem side.

Agree1 0Disagree

16 Apr 2024 13:23:11
I’m sorry Baz, but your beef on Davis being sold is very much with the benefit of hindsight. Up to the point of his sale he had very little first team experience, partly through manager preference and partly due to a succession of niggling injuries. He had just spent a season in the Championship with Bournemouth, during which he made the match day squad for just 17 of 46 fixtures, starting just 7 times, being subbed on 5 times and amassing a total of less than 600 minutes. Granted, he started each of their three cup games, but over the season he played less than 850 minutes, and chipped in with just 1 assist. The previous season, he was in Bielsa’s Prem squad for 25 of the 38 matches, getting 2 sub appearances for a total of 31 minutes under Bielsa. It was Bielsa’s decision to let him go on loan the next season. Bielsa had included him in the previous season’s Champ match day squad 11 times, handing him 3 sub appearances for a total of 13 minutes.

When he was sold in July 2022, there was little evidence to suggest that he would become a reliable option for the Prem, which was the level we were playing at. Granted the same could have been said of Firpo, but Davis was not the obvious answer to that problem. In relation to Davis specifically, ideally we would have sent him out for another Champ loan, giving him a further opportunity to develop, and to show he could be a reliable (form and fitness) option at that, and possibly Prem level. Unfortunately, his contract was expiring in June 23, so a new or extended contract would have been needed. Davis himself wanted some certainty in his future and didn’t favour a further loan with the possibility he might later establish himself at Leeds but rather to become settled somewhere as a first teamer - ruling out agreement on new/ extended contract - so at that point all available evidence suggested the best option for the Club was to cash in on him then, rather than lose for free at the end of the season. Even if he had agreed to go out on loan again, Davis would have been a free agent last summer, with no guarantee he’d have agreed a new deal at that point, if indeed Farke had wished to offer one.

Can you point us to any contrary evidence at the point he was sold (July 22) , which suggested that Davis would become a reliable attacking fullback at Champ level, let alone a reliable option at Prem level, which is where he would have had to play had he stayed at Leeds that season, and where we desperately hope we will be playing next season? Given the defensive shortcomings others have alluded to, if we do manage to get promoted, would you be advocating his starting in the Prem next season?

Agree2 0Disagree

16 Apr 2024 14:15:39
And as a follow-on question (to both Baz and George) , if our current owner, director and management structure had been in place in July 22, do you honestly believe that (on the basis of the evidence to that point) they would have kept Leif Davis at Leeds with a promise of significant Prem first team involvement that season and thereby convinced him to sign a new or extended contract?

Agree1 0Disagree

16 Apr 2024 14:39:38
Clu ; your point about his remaining length of contract 1 year is valid.

The rest of your post is seemingly all conjecture because I don't recall what you suggest these details being reported in press. and a lot of what is reported, in press isn't even true/ click bait/ club propaganda etc as you well know and remind us frequently.

so unless your Uncle Victor told you ( and again still could be false) Or perhaps more pertinently for accuracy you are Leif Davis agent you don't know what was really offered/ happened or not offered Clu.

As for Davis alleged defiencies . not only is he far better than Firpo going forward, he also is ( far) better defensively which isn't difficult as Firpo is shockingly bad defensively!

Clu have a poll of Leeds supporters who they would prefer in EPL / Champo

Davis or Firpo?

95 per cent plus choose Davis over Firpo.

Agree0 0Disagree

16 Apr 2024 14:49:06
As for your follow up question Clu . why not? Certainly as one of several LBs at club . all professionally well run clubs should hsve at least 2 Left footed LBs in their squad

Instead SF49ers unbelievably have just one left footed LB in their squad! . an over sight which has caused Leeds issues and problems.

Summerville needs to add more to his game . his cut in onto his right foot is so uber predictable, one trick pony, his passing isn't great, his crossing isn't anywhere near EPL quality, he has pace but he isn't strong physically. gets bullied.

EPL has a lot of quick, physical athletic defenders who will have CS under control/ in their pockets

IF big bucks offered for CS take it and improve squad . find better than CS for less

DJ a bench player in EPL.

This is going to sound strange but I'm quite happy the next 2 games are away from home.

I don't think the lads are handling the pressure of expectations too well at ER for whatever reason. We need an early goal to get the fans going and it's not happening.

Boro won't make the play offs but it is a Yorkshire derby (of sorts) so they will be up for it.

QPR definitely need the points and they have to go for them. I can't see either of them sitting back and trying to hit us on the break, which has worked lately.

Just my thoughts.

50% agree Sheds. I just feel Boro have already dug the foundations for a bus parking lot in their penalty area, and won’t show any ambition at all, except to deny us the 3 points we desperately need.

When they came to Elland rd, it was a pretty full on game until they had a player sent off.
You are right though sheds there is a possibility that the expectation at home at this moment in time is bearing down on the players.
For me now it’s got nowt to do now with rotation and selection. I would say all the players are feeling the pressure and now is the time that they need to overcome their apprehensions and play freely like we were from the beginning of this year to the international break.

This will be down to Farke to get his troops ready to fight for their lives with flair, passion and most of all a great belief and confidence that they can do this.
It’s going to be so close in the end that I seriously believe goal difference will be the decider for automatic promotion.

Hopefully not having Ayling (who has started every game and actually played decently for them) or Greenwood (who’s started 4 of the last 5 games and would have scored the winner v Ipswich but for a fine save by their keeper) will diminish Boro at least a little. Yes, I know, probably grasping at straws a little.

Greenwood should never have been loaned out. Useful player and excellent on corners and scoring from free kicks which we need.

Mskes assists also .

Ailing playing well too would have been useful to keep till end of season.

I'll take the 50% Brighty, thought I might get shot down totally tbh.

OP I'm not sure Farke has a motivational speech in him, at least not in the same vein as say Jim Telfer's to the British Lions before the first test in 1997 (which worked btw) or Alf Ramsay after the Germans equalized in 1966. All Sir Alf said was "you've won it once, now win it again" (that also worked) .

Who would Greenwood have played instead of Baz? . at the point of his loan rather than now, which would be an easier choice.

In my view, until the last 3-4 games, I don't think he would be picked?

2 Sheds, I wouldn’t be saying Herr Farke is up there with the likes of Sir Alf, but he must have said something motivational to his Norwich players other than, "just go out there and do yer best", to win the Championship not once but twice, which is undeniably one of the most difficult leagues to win.

OP Herr Farke had class acts in a t true genuine CAM in Buendia and a true goalscorer in Pukki

His motivational team talks were merely " give ball to Buendia" 🤣

Great post again on motivational team talks😍 by Sir Alf etc 2Sheds.

Champo Awards

( 1) So Summerville pips Dewsbury Hall as Champo Player of Season

I expect every Leeds supporter concurs ; hopefully Summerville can rediscover previous much better form for final 3 games!

( 2) Archie Gray gets YPOTY ( fair enough) . well done AG.

(3) McKenna Manager of Year . totally the correct decision.

I know there are some on here who do not rate him that much

but imo McKenna has been impressive and over achieved with his Ipswich team ahead of Leicester, Leeds and Southampton.

At this point of the season, tho I don’t rate him, can’t argue with the Ipswich gaffer winning it. Obviously our players deserve their awards without question. Interesting that Rodon didn’t make team of the season, but Amps did?

But he got them up there so got to get some credit.

Players throwing A hissy fit when subbed, storming off at final whistle, this does not bode well for the rest of the season.

Farke allowing the tail to wag the dog 🐶 as has been the case at Leeds for several years now. Had he freshened things up for a game or two we'd probably be promoted by now and the squad would be in harmony. Also, reintroducing Rutter so quickly after surgery was a schoolboy howling error. Club run on emotions still.

14 Apr 2024 19:51:53
What are you on about whiteman?
All the players have contributed this season and played well most of the time. We’re still in the mix for promotion and you say they don’t deserve their wages.
Are you a bitter little man who begrudges a man a very good wage because they haven’t lived up to your expectations?
Do mr a favour pal.

14 Apr 2024 20:10:05
Not the players' fault, perhaps only as much as 15%. Rest falls on Farke for rotation paucity further demonstrable by an act of madness subbing off our best 3 players in our last match. Agent Farke harbouring feelings for Canaries? Desirous of legitimate evasion of promotion payment to Radz? Who knows? If it was all accidental though, I'd hate to see 🙈 a wilful sabotage. 🧠☠️⚱️.

I whinged about the substitutions.
But apparently Gnonto is still recovering from injury, as is Roberts and Gruev was taken off to push another attacker on
So my big beef is, why swap 3 at the same time and cause confusion until everyone settles.

Agree1 0Disagree

15 Apr 2024 11:42:11
Gnonto looked fine, full of running, peeved to come off, 9 days recovery before next match

AG should have come off not IG fgs .6 attackers no midfield. certainly no CDM

Gruev stays on that Blackburn goal steaight down middle of pitch does not happen

DF disaster class. the defeat on him first and foremost.

3 goals in 8 games (in MLS) is hardly the prolific goal scorer “another 2” implies, particularly when it was 6 in 66 the season before (across LaLiga 2 and MLS) .

I really liked Bogusz and wish he’d been a success for Leeds, but I don’t think he’d be near the first team if he was still here.

as opposed to zero in 46 Kamara

I will take the former.
