Jerome Thomas - Friday

Believable37 Unbelievable32

I'd love it

Agree1 Disagree0

Is this a rumour or a Craig David song?

Agree6 Disagree0

He doesn't half have a similar name to Reece wabara who's also linked with us ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Wabarba wow I didn't know about him :) wabarba and wabara in defence oh yes plz

Leeds and a number of other Championship clubs are tracking Brentford defender Harley Dean

The big name signings just keep rolling in!

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant sign him, he didn't win champions league last season. doesn't earm 200k aweek so people will think he isn't good enough for us

Agree3 Disagree0

Looked good and solid in the play-offs for Brentford, and gets forward and scores from set pieces - think he's be a great signing - another one with potential. People seem to forget that before 'Big Names' became 'Big Names' they started off somewhere, didn't just appear on the scene as that!

Agree1 Disagree0

He would b better than all our defenders apart from lees so yh let's buy him as he offers more than pearce tbh

Agree0 Disagree0

He would b better than all our defenders apart from lees so yh let's buy him as he offers more than pearce tbh

Agree0 Disagree0

The first poster to respond to this, which "big names" would you suggest then?

Reece Wabarba will sign this week, he will sign a 3 year deal. - That I know.

Apparently Matt Mills is close, with a bid apparently accepted.

Finally free agent Adam Hammill will reject Barnsley to sign for Leeds!

-MS

Believable44 Unbelievable18

We can't afford a transfer fee for Mills an we can't afford his wages, so No, I can't see that rumour having teeth.

Agree0 Disagree2

I guess the guy who left the first comment is the luff financial director. He knows how much we have to spend. Please tell us more lol

StewboLUFC

Agree2 Disagree0

If we get wabara then we dnt need mills as no one will play ahead of lees and wabara in defence and pearce is a good sub cb so no need for money to b spent on slow mo mills

Matt Smith quits Doctor Who to sign for Leeds as a striker.

Believable26 Unbelievable15

Ha na na na you've got it wrong if anyone would sign doctor it would be QPR they sign bloody anyone.

Del Boy

Agree0 Disagree0

The extra-time lord

Agree1 Disagree0

If only. If we did sign Dr Who then it's straight back into Ridsdale era and sort that person out. Must be easier than facing the daleks and cyber men. History rewritten, we are European champs and the worlds watches on in awe. We are leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Doctor Who is probably younger than most of our current squad

Agree0 Disagree0

Oooo like the pun.

Just a decent striker who can score goals and is willing to bust a gut for Leeds le fondre sharp anyone who will get us 20 plus a season that's all that matters to me

Agree0 Disagree0

Jon Pertwee also played for Leeds in the 70s

Leeds sign Matt Smith, He will join the 1st of July. Oldhams second choice striker but good enough for Leeds looks like we're aiming to stay up never mind promotion. {Ed013's Note - I am gobsmacked by the negativity. Do you not realise Brian's record of lower league players? He has made them into promotion players before. Give the lad a chance}

Believable40 Unbelievable17

Quite agree Ed, just hope the lad is not reading all the negative posts

Agree3 Disagree0

Fair play ed. It really gets on my t*ts when people start sl**ging of the new players before they even get a chance. In BMcD we trust.

Agree3 Disagree0

Agree with you ed. Some fans won't be happy unless we sign cavani, hulk or messi and even then they'd moan. BMD has a habit of plucking players from lower leagues and polishing them into gems. I'd rather trust his judgement than some of our fickle fans.
Cdn't believe I saw a post debating Richard Naylor as next manager! Please give BMD and his signings a chance, I know the majority of fans will do just that.
Im fed up of the negativity, first it was Grayson, then Bates, then Warnock and lastly GFH. How soon before u turn on BMD? Just beggars belief. MOT Ron.

Agree4 Disagree1

Quite agree Ed. he scored against both Everton and Liverpool in the cup so he can't be that bad. Not to forget he was good in Dr Who!

Agree0 Disagree1

10 Jun 2013 16:22:31
Ed you make me laugh! If Warnock had signed smith you'd have taken both of them apart but bse bmd has had a relatively small amount of success with lower lge forwards you have to give him a chance! {Ed013's Note - You don't know me then or read my replies as I supported his players like I support all in a white shirt}

Agree2 Disagree0

Was very impressed with Smith in the Fa cup game against Liverpool, gave there centre half, s a torrid time, also scored in the next round against Everton, People said Chappy wasn, t great on the deck, but in the air he were fantastic, here, s hoping for similar with Matt Smith, could be a good partnership he and Ross Mac. Wabara in next hopefully and a winger or 2.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jun 2013 16:30:27
So true Ed - give us a break from all this negativity. If it doesn't work we'll know towards the end of the season. For now PLEASE get off the club's back!!!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jun 2013 16:42:55
Spot on Ed, BMD has a great record of bringing in lower league players and improving them.
Leeds have a history of doing this. We didn't always flash the cash like o'DEARY.
If the sad negative posters had their way we would never have signed the likes of Snoddy, Bechio, Beckford ect. Many of the players that people are wanting linked to Leeds originaly started in the lower leagues and were unknowns.
Give BMD a chance FFS.

Agree2 Disagree0

Agree with Ed completely I'm getting fed up with the negativity, are they real fans or WUM's I don't know but so much negativeness

Agree0 Disagree0

And U wonder why Warnock says there a cancer within the club, the transfer Window don't even open til 1st July so keep ya negativity under wraps please mot

Agree0 Disagree0

I am trying to understand the 4 people who find this rumour unbelieveable.

Frankly speaking, Beckford and Becchio both came out of nowhere and were good for Leeds.

If it doesn't work out, he was a free on a 2 year contract, if he does fantastic and let's not forget, MacD is "schooled" as a scout, we should trust him.

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing Leeds are in most need of are two wingers with a bit of pace. Didn't have one out and out winger last season. Smith could be a good asset so will support bmd on this one

Agree0 Disagree0

His record doesn't deserve much confidence. prolific in the Blue Square leagues, nothing in the pro game. calculated risk though, worth a try on a free.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm backing Ed up, here. Can't recall any negativity or ripping apart of Warnock's signings. even when they were (frequently) unfathomable.
As for the lad Smith we've brought in; Not sure what he gives us over and above Morison so, could be a cheeky gamble by MaccyD. He's been right more often than wrong, elsewhere so, I'll reserve judgement. CityWhite

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on lads, get behind the team and Brian.

People laughed at a young lad called Peter Crouch when he was at Villa, said he was just a target man and useless, that same Crouch went on to play for England and scored some great goals and in my opinion was treated very badly by England, you could not knock his goal scoring record for England.

Give this lad a chance, Beckford came from non-league and played in Div 1 and everyone Beckford fan out there wants him back.

At 24, he is the right age, will give everything and probably still pinching himself that he is an LUFC player and more importantly, was a free transfer and won't be costing the earth in wages.

If he bangs 20 plus goals in many people on here will have to eat some humble pie.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Ed!

Agree0 Disagree0

I blame Bates for the negativity. He sucked the optimism out of the club and the supporters and it will take a lot of things going right on the pitch and demonstrable good faith from the board to change that. GFH continue not to inspire confidence and albeit that McDermott is plainly a huge improvement on Warnock (tricky that - or possibly not) there are still huge questions as to what leeway he is being given as regards building a willing team. Whether Matt Smith is a good signing or not remains to be seen so I've nothing against the lad but unless he is followed by more prominent signings his signing will be seen as just more make do and mend.

Agree0 Disagree0

This lad ain't no Peter Crouch, if he touches the ball twice in succession with his feet in the same movement he'll probably fall over.

Just a big lump. Not saying that's a bad thing, but that's what he is.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we will be mid table again. can't see this and his potential signings making any an impact on this division. Where is the pace and creativity that we are desperate for?

Agree0 Disagree0

Small point -Snodgrass Gradel Beckford Becchio Johnson are a few examples of lower league or bit part players we have signed in last few years-all our best signings!
The bigger shots like o'brien Pugh Drury Tonge and the loanees Bannan Townsend etc etc were a massive disappointment.
Nothing like unearthing a gem!

Agree1 Disagree0

Give the lad a chance, he will live or die by his performances.

People saying he only got x amount of goals in League 1, but look at the players around him. If BMD gets the lads to give him decent service he could be effective in this league. If he doesn't perform or doesn't give his all then we can give him a hard time if necessary, but not just when he signs.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wrote to Warnock over this boy he will be great for the club no problem the trouble is you all shop at waitrose when ylou should be shopping at Aldis

Agree0 Disagree0

There's another way to stop this negativity - don't put these comments on the rumours page when its now a FACT that we've signed the fella. IE - Its no longer a rumour!
Yes it could go on the banter page. and Ed does a fabulous job sorting the many posts out. This is not a criticism of him.
At least on the banter page its then on a sub page and isn't the first thing you see.

Agree0 Disagree0

Small amount of success? lol alf was no one till he signed for reading and mills was no one till signed for reading and a few others.

Matt Smith to Leeds was a surprise. Saw one rumour on here but didn't choose to believe it.

Reece Wabara will be our next signing with it likely to be completed this week. Noel Hunt will also sign after his honeymoon.

There is talk of Ashdown and Varney leaving. Lee Camp may come in to replace Ashdown.

Believable23 Unbelievable7

Or maybe the next signing will be a surprise too?

Agree1 Disagree0

Camp will not come to be our number two buddy

LUFC KEK

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope Varney stays, was excellent once he found his feet up front and not playing in midfield by the clueless Warnock

Agree0 Disagree0

Varney excelent. really? I thought he was hopeless and when I placed a bet on him first to score (which I did as a joke) the people in front found it highly amusing. was there something I missed?

Agree0 Disagree0

You hope Varney stays?
He is hopeless, the guy played loads last year and was shocking most of the time, when he was out wide he was a non-tryer at times and that is not acceptable. People say he's not a winger, blah blah, he's spent a lot of his career out wide because he's not prolific enough infront of goal. I really really hope he leaves, I would even give him a lift for free along with Brown, Norris, Grafter Green, Pearce. Rather keep Somma than Varney even with his injury record.
CL

Agree0 Disagree1

Yes you must have missed the final third of the season where Varney came into his own. if we get a Varney like that all season i'll be happy.

Agree1 Disagree0

If any GK is to leave it will be Kenny.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't be too unhappy to see Varney go. McDermott will carry on doing what he's always done well: scouting players from the lower leagues. A good signing isn't necaserally an obvious one

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jun 2013 12:44:28
We've signed Matt Smith on a free, not too happy with that as a first signing think we need a bit more class
Source: Official Website

Believable25 Unbelievable29

Scouting the lower leagues is what McDermott does and does well. Let's give the lad time to prove himself and improve under McDermott's guidance eh?

Agree4 Disagree0

Well this is the way BMD will take us forward he is a scout & a coach who spots talent & improves it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Give him a chance, mate, we are not Barcelona! Until we have real funds we have to develop players and there is no harm in that

Agree1 Disagree0

If diouf and mcormack get decent crosses in he could do very well

Agree0 Disagree0

Good luck Matt Smith, here's hoping you can make persons like the original poster eat their words.
JB

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah - what's to like? Player of the month in April, scored against Everton;4 goals in 4 appearances against premier league clubs in the FA Cup; young; 6'6" tall. Doesn't look like a striker on tehup to me? We would be much better splashing out £1M plus wages on a disappointing journeyman from the premiership I suppose?

Agree1 Disagree0

Decent player, I'd take a younger, hungrier player over some drop down from the PL who just doesn't give a ****! MOT

Agree1 Disagree0

Makes me laugh when persons click the Unbelievable button when there is photos of Matt Smith with BMD at Thorp Arch from this afternoon.

Agree1 Disagree1

Same old garbage by fans as last year for god sake give him and mcdermott a chance

Agree1 Disagree0

Dr Who?.

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely Agree 1st Signing made for his new club and it is nothing worth screaming and shouting about he got 15 goals in 2 seasons

Agree0 Disagree0

Some people will never be happy, apparently

Agree0 Disagree0

Give him a chance man

Agree0 Disagree1

Stop moaning will you and start supporting sick of seeing these negative comments

Agree2 Disagree0

Give the kid a chance, yes we would all like a le fondre but how realistic is that one anyway. Smith is a clear indication we are going to be playing with more width! that can't be a bad thing. come on we are LEEDS let's get behind the boys and the manager and make a push for it next season. who knows Matt might just be a stroke of genius

Agree1 Disagree1

In Brian we trust.

Agree1 Disagree1

Some people make me laugh, watch football on the telly and think they know it all. I think it's a very good signing. I bet there ain't many centre backs in the game that would like to face Morrison & Smith plus with the likes of Ross & co who have that little bit of class we could have a very strong hungry aggressive front line.
I also think Hall might have a special part to play if BMD can get him going.
Trust & Support BMD

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the lad who put something about playing well with Diouf and Mccormack. He brings something different which we are obviously missing

Agree0 Disagree1

Think people have clicked un-believable because they disagree with the "not too happy with that as a first signing"

Plus on the main page it says unbelievable & when you click into the rumour it says disagree (just a point)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ref poster how games do you go to watching that crap warnock put together you can't go to any with comment you make about smith signing

Agree0 Disagree0

I was a season ticket holder through the whole of Warnocks reign actually

Agree0 Disagree0

When I first saw him play I thought he was a right handfull prem league defenders struggled against him, duncan ferguson anyone

Agree1 Disagree0

I said ages ago Brian McDermott's scouting ability is second to none. Hopefully Matt Smith will prove my point.

Agree0 Disagree0

Since its not even July when the transfer market properly opens, With a playerer in already and from the sounds of it another deal almost complete it already sounds to me like we are going to have a good few new signings. What is there to moan about? I'm just bored by all the miserable sods now.

Matt Smith From Oldham! OS

Believable27 Unbelievable4

People scoffed when Norwich bought the lump that is Grant Holt from Shrewsbury and Rickie Lambert was signed by Southampton from Bristol Rovers, but look where they endeed up. Smith is a big target man who should win plenty of balls into the box - McCormack could do very well from knock downs playing off him. let's get behind him and give him a chance.

Agree4 Disagree0

Ouch, not the big name we wanted, hope brian proves he knows what he's doing here

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jun 2013 12:26:48
tv linking us with a free transfer for Matt Smith from Oldham, he only scored 6 goals in league 1! I know McD is a good scout but surely we can get better than this?

Believable22 Unbelievable12

Says he scored 11 on th official website

Agree0 Disagree0

He scored 14 goals. Not 6.

Agree0 Disagree1

He's scored 14 goals since joining Oldham. He only scored 11 last season and only 6 of them were league goals

Agree0 Disagree0

If mcd thinks he's good enough then so do I

Agree0 Disagree0

If mcd thinks he's good enough then so do I

Oldham's Matt Smith signed.
Anyone know about this striker?

Believable19 Unbelievable3

Yes mate, he frightened the life out of Liverpool and Everton in FA Cup last season. He's only 24, a big lad, good in the air and will improve with coaching. I'm pleased we have him.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's scored quite a few goals at non-league level and scored against Liverpool and Everton in the FA cup last year. Think he's played for England C as well

Agree0 Disagree1

Played very well in the cup match against Liverpool then went to sleep for the rest of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well he's 6"6, fairly young at 24, not a great scoring record, but I think with the right support and under Bmc, he could be a valuable player, i'm not overjoyed or disappointed, we'll see how he does.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes he scored 4 goals in 3 games against premiership opposition will do well for us

just been told this morning that Stephen Ireland will come on a season long loan the sign him full time when his contract runs out, spoke to his agent its a done deal all parties really happy

Believable18 Unbelievable31

If you spoke to his agent, then you will know he's a big Sheff Utd fan who hates Leeds, and if he can get anywhere else for his players to go, he will. So no chance will Ireland be coming. Colton White.

Agree0 Disagree0

He must be the only irishman ever to exist that supported sheffield utd then

Noel Hunt- done deal, just needs to put pen to paper when he comes back from Ireland. Matt Mills deal will be done before training starts again on the 27th June.

Believable33 Unbelievable6

Matt Smith yes, still not sure Noel Hunt is coming, particularly after we have signed a striker today?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2013 23:15:19
Brian McDermott is looking to bring more width to the Leeds squad for the 13/14 season. He is looking to bring in Gareth McCleary in from Reading. Also the signing of Noel Hunt will be announced sometime this week and a Fee has been agreed with Bolton for defender Matt Mills with just personal terms left to agree.

Believable12 Unbelievable12

Can see Hunt and Mills deals being done but no way will McCleary sign. He'll be looking to stay in the premiership if he leaves Reading

Agree0 Disagree1

McCleary will stay at Reading
