Leeds United are after Owen Hargreaves, Alan Smith, David Stockdale (Loan), Sanchez Watt (Loan), Eric Lichaj, and Bolo Zenden.

Out will be Billy Paynter for Nick Montgomery and Mike Grella to Galatasaray.

Believable6 Unbelievable24

I thought the ed had made it clear Alan's not coming?

Agree0 Disagree0

Some people cannot take the fact golden boy cares more about money then his 'love' of the club. Their never was nay in the first place, just typical footballer looking after his pocket

Agree0 Disagree0

Smith defo to Leeds by this week and latest next. Grella to Turkey? not likely, and that fact that Galatasery was mentioned gives me the shakes cause i hate the murderous scum club, Grella to usa, btw is Harry Kewell playing for thet Turkish Murderers?

Leeds 1st team next season:

Turner

Lichaj O'Brien Kisnorbo White

Snodgrass Brown Howson Gradel

Becchio McCormack

Subs:
Rachubka, Connolly, Lees, L Turner, Nunez, Clayton, Somma

Believable10 Unbelievable17

If White is playing at left back we will have problems. Kisnobo may not be the same player he was 18 months ago. We need a left back, centre back another midfield player and a quality striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the quality striker. becchio should have had 30+ last season with the sitters he missed. with white and parker available at left back we should be looking for another centre back and then maybe we arent a million miles away from a decent team that could challenge.

Agree0 Disagree0

Parker, tommy lees, Brown and a fit McCormack, theres your problems solved

Agree0 Disagree0

White and mccormack starting.. dont be silly.. somma will be the man for next season

Can't believe of all the footballers in the world, we have signed a plank like Brown. I am worried for this season unless some quality is brought in

Believable8 Unbelievable22

This is the quality you get for what KB offers in wages. We will need cover for when he is suspended

Agree0 Disagree0

Give the guy chance to put a leeds shirt on before u bring him down. ok hes 34... but he is everything we lack grit determination and a hard tackler. so what if he gets the odd red card... more than kilkenny would have ever done. hes a step forward and heres y.... he is better than what we had last season. proven quality at this level and higher. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Omg u dont have a clue about football. Hes the best signing weve made in an age.

Agree0 Disagree0

The two who posted the first responses obviously play championship manager and live I a cloud. Last season poor howson had to do two jobs rather than attack and create. Why because we had idiots Johnson, Kilkenny who could not tackle a granny on giro day. Brown is premiership experience something we did not have. He will also provide cover for the back four. Wait and see before u make judgement. Oh by the way a quick note to the first two posts brown never played because Portsmouth could not afford too. We are the third biggest city and one city club and the only club in the while country debt free. Uncle ken is really bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Brown is what we need in our midfield. Great signing

Agree0 Disagree0

Brown gives the experience we need in midfield; quality with bite. i have got to say though that i think too many people are having a go at kilkenny. he was one of the better players and it cant be a coincidence that when leeds were on a winless streak he had been dropped. when re-instated for the last three, won two and drew one. makes you think

Agree0 Disagree0

Fricking heck some miserable people on here - ok im not overly thrilled by brown's signature but given the fact of what he's done at other clubs im willing to give him a shot

Agree0 Disagree0

Your obviously the bl**dy plank his record speaks for its self, masses of experience just what our mid needs....M.O.T

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not the best signing we've made in an age - he is the 34 year old version not the 26 year old you have seen on You Tube playing for the Blunts

Agree0 Disagree0

Give him a chance, if he wins a tackle he's done more than that bottling aussy midget we had last season. proven quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good player at this level, more signings to come hopefully, just more over expectant leeds fans expecting our name to bring in the BEST, get real mate, SG and Uncle Ken know what theyre doing

Agree0 Disagree0

Another muppet who doesn't understand football. Great signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like I said the man has experience and has played at the highest level, unlike Johnson, Kilkenny. Being a good passer of the ball like Kilkenny is was fine when we were attacking but when like against Swansea last season he doesn't have the ball waste of space we might as well play with 9 men as the same goes for johnson brown will give us what everyone on this site wad saying bite and cover the back four to enable us tobuild attacks

Agree0 Disagree0

Great signing and like one of you said howson had to do two jobs last season atleast with brown he wont take no sh*t in the midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2011 20:35:42
Expect a few more signings now after Michael Brown joined today on a free transfer.

Iain Turner, Andy Londergan or David Stockdale
Eric Lichaj
Matt Kilgallon
Keith Andrews
Alan Smith
Young Prem Striker on loan

Believable15 Unbelievable8

The smith deal has broken through so stop talking out of ur back end {Ed015's Note - smith and lonergan will not happen}

Agree0 Disagree0

What would Alan Smith bring? What do you think Ed? {Ed017's Note - £30 grand a week from Newcastle.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Smith could happen but Lonergan if doesnt go to Everton then he should be coming our way

Agree0 Disagree0

£30 grand a week from Newcastle.....
That'll go straight into Smiths pocket??
And we'll be left at the end of the season folking out 45 k alone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could- in some other universe where players care more about the game and their morals than £ signs

Giles Barnes is the latest player to be linked with leeds on twitter by a ex notts forest player dont know if that has any truth in it ?

Believable15 Unbelievable8

I heard Barnes was training with Forest so there could be something in it. I saw him play for Albion last season and he seemed to have a bit of Huckerby syndrome, in that having been a tricky winger with a lot of potential he then spent far too much time in a gym and ended up over muscled and no longer able to glide past a defender. Just my observation for what its worth

Agree0 Disagree0

Brown signs a one year deal with the option of extension

Believable17 Unbelievable4

This club is a joke
Grayson stated we were going to get better players in
LOL
But always MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope not the guy is 34. We are rapidly becoming a joke club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not the best signing in the world brown will do a job but surely we can do better than this one season out of him tops.
MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

Brown has premiership experience, won promotion, ok he is 34 not young but still got a couple of seasons left in him, and considering we brought in Amdy Faye last season to do the job he has been brought in to do, I would say he is better than Faye. Remember what level the club is at, not where it used to be at, for the championship, this is a good deal {Ed015's Note - people wanted Bowyer back..... isnt he 34 aswell? yet people are still complaining about browns age }

Agree0 Disagree0

Clearly Grayson isn't going to please everyone with his signings. I think we've made two shrewd signings so far. Brown will add some much needed steel and bite where we missed it last season, and knowing how KB is with his money Brown certainly won't be here just for the money Come on guys, what sort of players are you expecting for £Free, get real. Brown is a quality player and I hope we get to see him at his best.

I was getting concerned by the lack of faces, but with Paddy and Micheal Brown signing on, I'm feeling a little better now. Onwards and upwards, here we come

The difference between bow and brown is class though ed

simon has decided to press the panic button

brown will be a replacement for bowyer (Deal to be done by tmrw) simon is not thrilled but wanted some one.

to the poster who said Michael brown to sign tomorrow erm hes already signed so not the quickest off the block ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

You have a creative mind, are you going for the Pullitzer prize for fiction?

Agree0 Disagree0

Brown has signed, just posted on Leeds website

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't say whether Brown is a good signing or not, but can say he aint a panic buy as SG has been tracking him for some time

Agree0 Disagree0

Would much rather have brown in midfield than smith

Agree0 Disagree0

Whoever makes this crap up should start writing novels. Michael Brown played for City, Fulham, Tottenham, Portsmouth, and won the CHampionship with Sheffield Utd the division we are in now. Played most of his career in PL and is a panic buy yeah right Sherlock a fantastic piece of business especially when we need a defensive midfielder he will help the defence and make more tackles than the two idiots from Northampton, and Oldham.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who's the person from Oldham? Kilkenny was from Birmingham City

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he said it because killa spent a few seasons on loan at Oldham

Aaron ramsey loan deal at leeds. As cesc and samir have pledged there future to arsenal.

Believable10 Unbelievable20

Rubbish. Ramsey is way to good for u and has a firm place in the Arsenal squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love this to be true but cant see it happening surely Arsene would want to see him in the premiership he proved last season he can do it at Championship level.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont make me laugh he is a quality player that would improve the squad he will therefore not be coming to us.

Keith Andrews signing for Leeds today just waiting on medical to be completed. Former MK Dons midfield has said at his delight of joining such a well illustrated club and cant wait to join with his new team mates. Watch this space.

Believable3 Unbelievable18

Well illustrated? what the hell does that mean? lots of people draw us?

Agree0 Disagree0

'Well illustrated'? Well I suppose that we do draw a lot

Agree0 Disagree0

ABOUT THE ONLY PLAYER MENTIONED WHO WOULD TAKE WAGES ON OFFER

Agree0 Disagree0

Either something to do with Billy Paynter ;) or he means illustrious.

Agree0 Disagree0

As someone who hung around with him when he was 16 i would say that he would love to play for leeds but as to weather or not they are looking for him i dont know.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like the style of wording used in games like football manager

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be a good signing for championship level if this rumour is true

Agree0 Disagree0

Who the hell is Keith Andrews ? Is this now the state of the Mighty Leeds United, where we now CANNOT attract known names despite fanbase and stature. We can fill 30k seats in Div 1 and Championship but have to view lower leagues and hope that mediocre players take the bait. KB has done some good, but time to go Ken before we become footballs joke

Agree0 Disagree0

What a retarded last comment. If you knew anything about football, you would know that Keith Andrews is a very good player. He is at Blackburn at the moment.

Leeds have opened talks with Michael Brown after his release by Portsmouth. Leeds are closing on a deal for Brown and could have an agreement in place by Monday evening.

Source = SS

Believable17 Unbelievable1

11 Jul 2011 13:56:32
Leeds are currently in talks with Michael Brown (ex Pompey)

Forgive me if I dont cartwhel down the street just yet at the though of a free agent, 34 year old midfielder signing.

How very disapointing that this is the level of player we are looking at.

Believable19 Unbelievable7

Disappointed? I think this would be a great signing.....tough, will sit in front of the back 4, something that we missed last year. Despite being 34, he should give us a good couple of seasons

Agree0 Disagree0

Get real. He maybe 34 but his pedigree speaks for itself. Hes played for the likes of spurs and man city. Also was sheff utds player of the season more than once. Ok he isnt as young as he was but leeds do what we do best... And support the boys MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a defensive midfielder proven player. Played most of the career in PL. Also won promotion with Sheffield Utd. Achieved a bit more than the other two comedians we had in midfield last season. One played for Northampton the other for Oldham.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't knock him, he will still do a job for us... He will make Bradley Johnson look inferior

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a defensive mid player crying out for one last season michael brown played for fulham, Portsmouth, and also won promotion to PL with sheffield utd a bit better than the s**te we had last season what was it again oh, Johnson from Northampton and the Kilkenny from Oldham. Both couldn't tackle an old granny.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont you think that we need an experienced midfielder. i know that at 34 he is knocking on a bit but there were many times last year when we were crying out for an experienced midfielder to calm things down, especially when we were winning games. look at the number of times we were in front only to concede because we did not have the players with the experience of closing a game down

Agree0 Disagree0

Over rated side ball merchant who is too slow. He will be booked more time than a taxi, and will have ben sent off before Bonfire Night.

Agree0 Disagree0

We're signing four players if uncle ken is to be believed.... Why would he sign 2 more keeper, when we need at least 1 more midfielder n a centre half?

Agree0 Disagree0

Considering we brought in Amdy Faye last season to do the same job I would not say Brown is any worse than him, proven track record, not the quickest anymore but he'll be there for his tackling more than anything, we can't think of ourselves as Leeds of the past, for the level we are at, this is a decent signing, in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Browny is quality just what we missed last season just look at the job Derry did for QPR last season, this is what we need -- good business in my eyes

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the post, it is very poor. gutted

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure if you chucked a couple of million quid Papa's way he'd buy whoever YOU want, rather than players we actually need like Brown.....

..... yet another bargain price too - FREE

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I would like to see some early 20's players, we do need some experience and a hard tackler in MF.

Agree0 Disagree0

Brown is an experienced defensive midfielder who can tackle, something we dearly lacked last season. He will solve some of leeds defensive problems i bet. Good signing

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2011 13:25:49
Lonergan has been talkin on twitter and has said he's waiting on a few calls before a move is done and he is flatterd leeds want him so dfeal is not off we may hav 3 keepers by next week if he signs and stockdale

Also every1 sayin michael brown would be a gud signing r u mad he's 34 we may aswell get batty back if we are after people that old

Keep faith in grayson we trust
Lufc hughzy

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Good championship player, he's fit so age doesn't matter that much, better than Smith or Montgomery

Agree0 Disagree0

You're right I don't think the signing of Brown will have the bookies suddenly installing us as title contenders
If he's the best we can attract to a club of our size then it's mid table obscurity at best for us this season.
It's okay SG saying that we will sign players but sign them now so they have time to settle in not the day before the season starts.
With regard to your comment about Batty while we're at it lets bring the chief back to sort out our useless defence - he could still do a better job
MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Did Grayson not say he wanted a mix of experience and youth? We lacked experienced players last season and lost too many points as a result (Barnsley, Preston & Leicester matches spring to mind). It's possible he's quietly confident in a lot of the younger players in the reserves and Under 18s.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bowyer our other target is also 34 years old, brown is a far better player so stop going on about his age. Will add steel to our side, always gives 100%. Give the guy a chance. MOT

Leeds to sign John Woodgate today He will be shown to sky cameras at a press conferance at 5.00Pm, on Sky Sports News

Believable3 Unbelievable24

Hes signing for stoke today not leeds, good thing as we want our defenders fully fit.

deakko

Agree0 Disagree0

Well that's rubbish seen as sky sports has him completing his signing with Stoke

Agree0 Disagree0

Have a job on doing so, especially as he has signed for Stoke.

JackMRob

Agree0 Disagree0

Woodgate has agreed 12 month contract with Stoke

Agree0 Disagree0

No he wont - he's just signed for Stoke.
Rubbish

Agree0 Disagree0

Funny how he has just signed for stoke... Never was a chance of woody coming back

Agree0 Disagree0

Woodgate signed for stoke... SKY SPORTS NEWS... read it

Agree0 Disagree0

That's funny cos he's just signed for Stoke. So in the next 90 mins he's going to rip up a prem contract and fly up to Scotland. Stop Bsing

Agree0 Disagree0

Stoke have just confirmed him on a one-year deal. Unlucky.

Agree0 Disagree0

Woodgate has just compleated a move to stoke so this isnt true

Agree0 Disagree0

Woodgate has signed for Stoke City...we're do you get this stuff from?

Agree0 Disagree0

What part of he's just signed for Stoke do you not understand?

Agree0 Disagree0

When he signed for Stoke at 3.15 don't talk nonsense source :sky sports news transfer centre

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah sure, how come he has just signed for Stoke city, is SG going to parade him in a Stoke City shirt

Agree0 Disagree0

How much of a Pratt do you feel now he has just signed for Stoke?

Agree0 Disagree0

Why talk rubbish? woodys just signed for stoke so stop guessing at transfers

Agree0 Disagree0

Well ur right about the conference just a shame it will be at Stoke

Agree0 Disagree0

Will he be wearing a stoke city shirt then cos he has signed for them

Agree0 Disagree0

Well it will be a quiet press conference then because he has signed for Stoke according to the BBC

Agree0 Disagree0

He has signed for Stoke......(source SSN)
yet another passes us by

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope your right mate :) how do you know this?

Agree0 Disagree0

Signed for Stoke...

Might be on SSN for them though.... LOL

Agree0 Disagree0

He has just signed a one year deal with stoke

Agree0 Disagree0

Well that failed didn't it.. as he has just signed for Stoke

Agree0 Disagree0

Gone to Stoke . as if we are getting anyone of that standard . what a shambles .

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry to burst your bubble pal but Woodgate has signed for Stoke and Bowyer has signed for Ipswich.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop talking rubbish Hes just signed for stoke you banana Hammock Nobody has a clue who we are signing Grayson is great at keeping secrets

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, lets get woodgate, why not get Anderton as well, keep each other company while out injured, not impressed with the likely signing of Brown either, we are getting left behind, no major signings i fear, so give youth a chance, the majority of loan signings last year were crap, wear the shirt with pride or not at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2011 09:37:26
Lee Bowyer, Jonathan Woodgate and Alan Smith were all seriously interested in re joining Leeds united along with Andy Lonergan, Keiran Westwood and Billy Jones but negotiations stopped at the first hurdle after insulting Contract Offers.
Grayson will now look to loan signings as none of his transfer targets would enter into the second phase of contract negotiations calling a holt to proceedings at the first hurdle. Stockdale and Lichaj seem likely. Michael Brown is interested but Wage again could be a serious problem. Brown was on high wages at Portsmouth and the 34 year old has had better offers elsewhere. He is said to be considering the offer tho as his family would like to move back to Yorkshire.

Believable8 Unbelievable15

Nobody with any ambition will go to Leeds now Ken Bates is in charge and the wages being offered are laughable...

Agree0 Disagree0

Why dont we all smarten up... KB doesnt pay wages and thats all that most players are interested in. Any named player is never gonna come to Leeds who are not prepared to pay standard rates. We dont even get past the first round of negotiations. We are a joke but I admire SG in what he has to do to overcome this hurdle. KB management of Leeds has brought back financial control. Move on Ken cus you have no desire to achieve anything on the pitch

Agree0 Disagree0

Total tosh dude Bower has joined Ipswich fo starters, Woody off to Stoke, n Smith who knows.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah and you just happen to have all of the inside knowledge dont you?

Agree0 Disagree0

Lee Bowyer signed for Ipswich on one year deal today

Agree0 Disagree0

SG + KB need to remember, when you spend peanuts, all you get are monkeys.NO money , NO ambition , and absolutely NO chance of promotion

Agree0 Disagree0

I've just sent a link to prove Woodgate's gone to stoke
what planet are some people on lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I was right werent i? Hardly "total tosh". I have reliable sources. The agents of Woodgate Smith and Bowyer have spoken to Leeds and they were briskly holted after learning at the first hurdle what kind of wage was going to be offered. All 3 were interested tho. Bowyer has got himself a good deal down at our rivals Ipswich, Stoke have took a chance on a superb defender in Woodgate on a pay as you play deal, Woodgate will earn a top wage, but only when he plays. There are loads of incentives and bonuses in with the deal. Tho its initially one year. Michael Brown has completed his one year contract to Leeds with a one year bonus if Leeds choose to keep him on. which is very unlikely if we get promoted. 34
year old, good experience but has only played around 15 games a season in the past 3 years. Has an awful track record for red cards, yellows and suspensions. However he is a good experienced professional who wasnt needed at Portsmouth. I think he will be an okay signing for this year. I dont think it is a very ambitious signing tho. Grayson says he has been after him for a long long time....then why has he only give him a one year deal? LOL.

Agree0 Disagree0

As if the likes of Smith etc wouldn't know what financial position we were in, what a load of tripe They KNOW we can't offer stupid wages, so why would they even entertain the idea.
On this note I agree with Bates, some players have a over inflated idea of what their worth, and most arent worth it Im glad they have 'turned us down', shows they aint right for Leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

You cant blame Woodgate and Bowyer, what Leeds offered, Stoke and Ipswich trebled. For what Leeds offered them they may as well have been kitmen. What is interesting that Bowyer and Woodgate were interested, and they have only signed on for 12 month at there new clubs, Woodgate on a pay as you play deal. Maybe they are hoping Leeds will come back in for them next year? As for Alan Smith, I am hearing this deal could be back on. But nothing will happen until after the newcastle game. Grayson and Smith both want to see what reception he gets first. As neither the manager or the players want a deal to be struck on terms that would be in contempt with the fans. This is the reason the friendly took place 2 years ago, at newcastle, and this year at elland road.

lee bowyer didnt choose leeds because he didnt agree with the way ken bates runs the club

Believable12 Unbelievable9

Lee Bowyer held talks with Leeds United and although West Ham were his first choice, they werent interested, Leeds were his second choice. But talks were called off at the first phase of negotiations after an insulting wage offer.

Agree0 Disagree0

It had something to do with paul jewells plans for the future and the determination he has to take ipswich up this year. But being honest i would prefer woodgate and smith back instead so glad he went to ipswich.

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolute crap. he chose Ipswich because they are spending lots of money on wages. Whats to say we even offered the little worm a chance here?

Agree0 Disagree0

Lee bowyer went to ipswich for more monet plain and simple

Agree0 Disagree0

Good job that Bates has the money and not Bowyer then.......

Agree0 Disagree0

Didnt want him back at leeds hes a thug .also agree that if bates doesnt want to pay £20k+ on overated over the hill pros then i am with him all the way'

Agree0 Disagree0

When will you Bates haters give it a rest - go and 'support' another club I'm fed up of your constant negativity

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you think ken bates likes the way bowyer runs his life on & off the pitch. No offer made to bowyer shame still agood player..Smith awaiting a payoff from toon?

Agree0 Disagree0

If £13k p/w is insulting then I'm willing to be insulted right now.

Agree0 Disagree0

And the way Peter Risdale ran the club was so much better?

Agree0 Disagree0

If £13k p/w is insulting then I'm willing to be insulted right now. :D
As if you'd expect anything higher from a club like Leeds, some people on hear are talking rubbish. I'd like 13k a week and I'd be more passionate then all three put togther :D

Yh i arnt a leeds fan just reporting the news and looking in show how bad ken is he thinks hes god because he bailed out leeds
