I have heard from a good friend today whos dad works for OHS on the board, he tells me his dad has heard from two leeds united representatives during a business dinner on wednesday that johnny howson has officially told leeds united CEO shaun harvey and manager simon grayson he would like the negotiations for his new contract finalised by December 1st, no details of the contract were discussed as they were unknown by the two reps and that it would have led to unnessasary speculation which could hold up negotiations further, i believe the guy this has come from and hope that the deal is finalised by December 1st, what message would this send out to the rest of the squad by showing we can hold on to our best home grown talent and club captain... surely others will follow suit. I've heard something similar via a Howson family connection - essentially that he really wants to stay as long as the deal on offer isn't insulting. Unfortunately Mr. Bates has a bit of form when it comes to insulting our own players with derisory contract offers.
Howson surely cant expect a pay increase on this season performances, If i was Howson I grab any offer on the table that Bates and Co are offering him, overated and over shadowed by Clayton. In fact I would say signing Clayton to a new long term contract is the priority not Howson
There's no one from OHS who'd have the inside line on this. The Board at Leeds is Bates, Harvey, Lorimer, and then some unknown - but no-one from our back of shirt sponsor.
