gradel injured and been taken off maybe a godsend so west hame dont want him...

Believable14 Unbelievable4

Its not a serious injury as he got straight back onto his feet and only got taken off so he didnt aggrivate it.

we dont need to buy any1 i am watching tonight and there looking like a good outfit and 1st thing tomoz im going to put a grand on promotion

Believable5 Unbelievable18

With respect they were hardly a measure of things to come one game into what is a fitness exercise primarily or am I just being a miserable sod?

Agree0 Disagree0

I was there tonight as well, and i beg to differ. nunez however looks like a worldbeater with the ball at his feet.

Agree0 Disagree0

WE SCORED 1 GOAL AGAINST FALKIRK MATE.......HARDLY A BRILLIANT WIN. I WOULD HOLD THAT GRAND UNTIL WE PLAY NEWCASTLE AND SEE THEN

Agree0 Disagree0

What a dillusional little child you are. How can you judge what we are gonna do this season by one result against a tin pit scottish team who would probably struggle in our league 1.

I dont' think you are quite old enough to go into the bookies yet son shine.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was at the game too, and I have to agree with you, we have the makings of a very strong and misleading (for the opposition) team. Falkirk are no world beaters, but it was evident they were closer to being ready for the upcoming season than we were, and we made a lot of changes. 2 years ago we would have struggled to a draw, so let's take the positives. Nunez will set the league alight if given the opportunity, Lees looks like he'll be knocking the international door in a couple of years time, Paddy looked better than I expected after such a long lay off, and Snoddy and Max are going nowhere. Unless they were trying to put themselves in the shop window, they really made an effort tonight (as did everyone else). Yes, Grayson does need to strengthen, but I am now confident that he can see more in the current players than anyone else can. The squad might not look THAT good on paper...But I was pleasantly surprised

Agree0 Disagree0

Id go 1 better and say leave the grand in your bank until about 10 games into the season. thats when u get an idea of how things will go.... pre season friendlies are a training excercise and to make the players gel etc. experimental times.... MOT

i have just heard from a mate of mine who is up in scotland with his family for a camping holiday, and to watch leeds friendly against falkirk tonight, and he says he spoke to someone involved with leeds united at around 2:30 today, at the falkirk stadium while buying some tickets for the game tonight and was told alan smith would be at the ground to watch leeds play falkirk.
leeds4life

Believable16 Unbelievable11

Not surprised i often see Alan watching the under 18s and i have spoke to him before, he is my fav player and it was a pleasure to meet him in person, he really is leeds through and through and i hope he joins

Agree0 Disagree0

:) I can also vouch for that. His family are massive Leeds fans and whatever people say he's a really good bloke who would give his all for us once more- no doubting its a gamble but I'm confident it'll pay off.

Agree0 Disagree0

He wouldnt have training early would he........

Agree0 Disagree0

You can vouch for him because his familys massive Leeds fans??
What tripe. My family are massive Chelsea fans doesnt mean its proof I go and watch them play
Good bloke, greed isnt a good trait
Leeds through and through his first game back was 5 years after our relagation from the premiership, that doesnt make a true leeds fan

Dont believe this at all
he returned once and it was highly publicised, i dont think he'd go unnoticed somehow lol

seen alan smiths relative today not giving the name but for sure its his family in asda on york road all i can say is hes looking at all the sites on the leeds forums to see what the fans want he wants to come but dont want to upset the fans and and put the players under presure he loves leeds and always will he comes to as many games as possible this is not fake im asking the fans to make up your minds want him or dont me for one would love him back hes a grafter in what we need , , , , , , , mot

Believable24 Unbelievable10

Money will matter more than opinions...believe me

Agree0 Disagree0

Well to be honest i dont care if im the only person who'd like him back i think hed be worth a punt, fully appreciate the people in the no camp have valid points but for me, he's welcome back

Agree0 Disagree0

Well I want him back he is a grafter and j believe he loves Leeds as much as us Forget his leaving.... He had too He did it to help save the club he loves....the club we all love I know he went the wrong side of the pennines... But if there was a chance of him staying he would We've all don't things we regret bit we want people to accept us after doing the wrong.
Give the lad a chance We never complained when we got strachan? Etc. All from manU.
Let's welcome smudger back and get him in our White shirt once again and sing for promotion

Come on Leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, like Smith gives a rats arse what Leeds fans think, if he settles for what the rest of the lads are on regarding wages, he may prove to be a decent squad player, keep it real guys.

Agree0 Disagree0

My only concern would be his fitness, if hes ok i reckon it would be a great signing and i will fully support him

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh course we should get him back, after all it wasn't him who wanted to leave Leeds in the first place. Get him back where he belongs in the White Shirt of the MIGHTY WHITES once again and lets just see what happens. Come Mr Bates do something the fans want, you know he'll give 110 % always.

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally would welcome the guy back with open arms, it wasn't his fault that he needed to be moved on, where he went or what he did from there on in is history..........

... he was willing to give everything for Leeds and thats all that matters

What a lift for the team this would be, a quality player coming back and showing FAITH

Don't knock him for his wages, he has to support himself into the future, and when we get promotion, hopefully, all our loyal players will start to earn what they are worth...

Keep the faith MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

It would be a better signing than the one we did yesterday, with smith in the middle of the park kicking and spitting just like the good old days

Agree0 Disagree0

Anybody can be a grafter but what we need is a grafter who is also a good footballer. it may be that smith has improved over the years but it seems that no-one else wants him and that is why he could be coming back. I for one am not convinced that he is what we need right now

Agree0 Disagree0

I would welcome alan smith back, he possesses the leeds factor, a born fighter like many that have gone before him wearing the white shirt, from the likes of noman hunter, to david batty, every good leeds team has at least four or more 5 star scrappers, and alan smith fits into that catagory...come on sg lets see the fire in your heart..give him a go. destiny

Agree0 Disagree0

Good one, I know we're going to get stick us smith supporters but at the end of the day lads and lasses we're all LEEDS fans and on some issues, particularly this one, I think we'll have to agree to disagree.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love to see smithy back he only went to scum coz they were the only club willing to pay all the money up front give the lad a break and a chance to prove himself over the course of a season MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Come back Smithy, although you went to scum at least u did it and got money into the club unlike some others, kewell etc. i know the majority would accept u back like u never left in the first place, MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love to see him back in a White shirt. I spoke to someone that works at elland road and the way he put it to me was "he had a choice of man u or Birmingham, if he went to Birmingham and didn't cut it he was screwed were as if he went man u if it went tits he always had somewhere to fall back on" very true and he did help the clue with his move. Bring back smudger

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be great to see Smudger back where he belongs All these so called Leeds fans that can't see that Alan Smith probably saved Leeds by Going over the Pennines are idiots. The truth is that Man Utd were the only club that would pay the whole transfer fee upfront. There were other clubs interested but they all wanted to pay for his services in instalments

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if Smith comes back we will sell Gradel to WHam to pay his wages which IMO is a backward move. I suspect Gradel or Snodgrass, or both God forbid to go as a result and Bates will accuse them of trying to run their contracts down/refusing new contracts etc. etc as we've heard before to justify his actions. So, in a word, no I don't want him back

Agree0 Disagree0

COME BACK SMUDGE your leeds through and through mot

Agree0 Disagree0

Smudger belongs at Elland Rd, LIKE US ALL, Leeds Utd runs through his veins M O T

Agree0 Disagree0

Smudger... if your reading this the Mirfiled Whites want you back, like the other posts your Leeds through and through - get that white shirt on and get us back in premier MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Your kidding your selves. He couldn't give a s**t as long as he is being paid. If he was worth the money Newcastle would offer him a contract or at least another premier league club would. He is a has been, wShed up, injury probe football trying to use Leeds and memories as a life line. Leave him be, we don't need him

Leeds aren't we......

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love him back He has worked harder than any other leeds player since david battycome back smithy

Agree0 Disagree0

If he went to loads of games hed get seen, also it was the first time he returned in years when he did the Yorkshire radio interview

Agree0 Disagree0

Smith or Gradel mmmm tough
Gradel is the only option

Agree0 Disagree0

HE DIDNT CARE ABOUT LEEDS FANS OPINIONS WHEN HE STUCK THE FINGER UP TO THEM, SAID HE WASNT A CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER WHEN EVERYONE WAS HURTING AFTER RELAGATION AND CERTAINLY DIDNT CARE ABOUT OUR OPINIONS WHEN HE WAS SINGING ANTI LEEDS SONGS WITH THE MANU TEAM ON NIGHTS OUT, OR WHEN LAUGHING AND MOCKING LEEDS FANS WITH JOEY BARTON AT THE NEWCASTLE VS LEEDS 'FRIENDLY'.

Agree0 Disagree0

I cannot believe people believe this hahaha wishful thinking
I once claimed to be brave whilst smirking in an interview about his move across the penines surely the lads to brave to care about what us mere mortals think?

heard from a reliable source that bates has agreed to pay smith 25 000 pounds a week to prove to leeds fans he is willing to invest will sign by tomoz afternoon

Believable11 Unbelievable18

I really doubt that given how tight bates is and the general wages infastructure at Leeds
Ed may prove me wrong on this but I find that a bit insane LOL

Agree0 Disagree0

That would be a stupid decision, there are so many more players we could have signed that would have deserved those wages a lot more

Agree0 Disagree0

Why doesn't Bates give Smith a % of the revenue from image rights/shirt sales? This would mean staying within the wage limits and Smith getting a load on top without upsetting the other players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Given what bates said today about greedy players i think your full of it

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that's a very sensible suggestion actually

Agree0 Disagree0

That would be a stupid decision, there are so many more players we could have signed that would have deserved those wages a lot more
This, we need youth to develop and grow for LUFC's future.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 thousand punds a week your having a laugh I dont care who the player is Leeds arent one of those clubs anymore and thank the lord

Agree0 Disagree0

Why doesn't Bates give Smith a % of the revenue from image rights/shirt sales? This would mean staying within the wage limits and Smith getting a load on top without upsetting the other players.
Because that would make him the same as Kewwll in Australia, Leeds fans had plenty of negative things to say about that agreement, why should this be seen any differently its pure greed. Hes earnt bloody millions already. He should return to leeds on wages WE can afford to pay otherwise hes best going elsewhere for the high wages We arent a club that pays ridiculous wages anymore or would you like us to hit financial difficulty again simply so you can drool over smith?

Agree0 Disagree0

So its OK for Smith to do, but is wrong when Kewell does it? Double standards

West Ham have reportedly offered in the region of £4m for Max Gradel.

Not being funny, but if we can turn down £5m for Snoddy then we will turn down £4m for our player of the year Wouldn't worry about this bid but it may spark a bidding war.
I would imagine one eye will be on Smith's wages.....along with other potential targets but Grayson has said he wants to build the squad around Gradel so I don't think this bid will come to anything other than Bates telling them to shove it.

Believable15 Unbelievable5

£4mill is a total insult for a player of Max's caliber. Try at least double ye southern shandy drinkers........M.O.T

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't worry too much mate. Gradel says that he owes a lot to the club after they gave him his chance after the Bristol Rovers farse. The only person we need to keep quiet is Uncle Ken and he along with Grayson, have both said that they want to keep the star players at the club so its all looking good. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

I would drive him there myself for 3 million so if we can get 4 million I would carry him there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its quite tricky with gradel only has 1 year left on his contract otherwise we could lose him as free agent like we did with beckford, johnson and kilkenny, thats 1 of main reasons we got rid of kasper for over 1 million pounds, so we do not make the same mistake as the earlier names. With snodgrass did nt sell him for 3 million cos he has 3years remaining on his contract.

What has happened to Gimpel? Is he officially a Leeds player? He's not on the Scotland tour.

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Gimpel's technically an under 18 player. So he'll be playing in the U18's for a while, see how he does in there and the reserves before SG brings him into the big team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Monty Gimple was our first official signing so came with a lot of hype. He is just a scholar in the youth team. Meant to have a lot of promise but i doesnt even trai with the first team yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes officially a leeds player. not sure why he isnt on the tour. maybe carrying a knock ?

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a prospect for the future, they don't send everyone on the tour anyways

Agree0 Disagree0

He's gone into the youth system cos he's only 18

Agree0 Disagree0

He signed to the academy on a year scholarship if he proves he's good enough Leeds will give him a professional contract

Agree0 Disagree0

They dont need him on tour, they already know his quality

Leicester make another high profile signing. Don't think we should be bothered though because I think they are destined to fail....... Sven can't manage in the English leagues, especially the championship Leeds aren't we.....

Believable10 Unbelievable4

Agreed, Leicester this season will be like Man City when they first cobbled together a team of 'stars' i.e. not a team at all. Fingers-crossed 'doing a Leeds' will soon be trumped by 'doing a Leicester' :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Could not agree more with these comments, if i were a leicester fan although i would think great lots of good signings, in the back of my mind i would be thinking omg what if we dont go up, could be catastrophic.

I am jealous of there spending atm tho lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I think Leicester are a team that no one needs to worry about. They will crash and burn and Sven will not last the season.

Sky sports understands that west ham have made a bid for max gradel. Hopefully SG will get the improved contract offer in soon before the higher wage offers from other clubs sway his opinion away from Leeds

Believable7 Unbelievable2

If its over 6 mil i think Ken will take it....its all money with Ken Bates..

Agree0 Disagree0

Gradel won player of the year and had best season of his career last year. He's in the last year of his Leeds contract. If KB doesnt pull out wonga then I guarantee we will offload for £3m+ within the next few weeks. If Gradel goes and KB doesnt stump up some realistic cash I can see SG leaving Xmas. :(

Agree0 Disagree0

Clubs are unable to 'make offers' to Gradel, until they agree terms with Leeds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gradel will only be offered another contract once the transfer window closes. If Leeds were determined to keep Max a new contract would have been sorted out long before now, the reality is we are waiting for an offer that grayson and bates can say was impossible to turn down. Max will be sold this summer it is simply a matter of to whom, for how much. If Leeds get a big money offer many supporters may feel fair enough as long as any fee is reinvested in the playing squad. Yeah right, anybody remember Fabian Delph?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2011 14:10:24
ken bates and simon grayson said selling kasper was a decision made on his performance and us needing to improve the team in that area. if we accept any sort of pityful offer from west ham for max then i will be deeply saddened, i will carry on supporting our beautiful club all be it in the championship for years to come as doing this is showinig no signs of ambition.

ps im sure ken will do the right thing and not go against his word on selling KEY players

Currently live in Alan Smith's home town of Rothwell, Leeds. Like many others, I have spoken to Alan Smith's mother to ask what the situation was with her son. Her response was: 'I'm fed up of people asking, for the final time, Alan Smith WILL end up signing a contract at Leeds'.

RICARDO FULLER: Stoke just bought Charlton Cole from West Ham and also have striker Kenwayne Jones. FULLER didnt bag much last year and Pullis obviously wants him sharp before playing him. 6ft 3in and fast. Been rumoured as potential target for LEEDS, so Charlton Coles move could influence his loan out

Believable10 Unbelievable8

Before posting such utter rubbish again try investing in a dictionary Ricardo Fuller is not going to come to Leeds 'cos he ain't good enough for us. His goal scoring record is appalling - 102 goals in 343 appearances. That works out at 13 goals in a 44 game season for about £25,000 a week. No thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a great goalscorer but he is different class as a lone striker. He holds the ball up superbly and never gives up - doubt we could afford him so loan is only chance

Agree0 Disagree0

'Invest in a dictionary ? you utter knob'. Soccerbase league stats: Heskey: 447 games / 117 goals (0.22) Paynter: 262 games / 83 goals (0.24) Fuller: 244 games / 90 goals (0.27). LOAN spell designed to give competitive edge to player and sharpen up, not necessarily about paying his full £25k wages. More likely to see FULLER than HESKEY. Not good enough for us ? U think were that good... players are clambering to play for us ? Wake up from under your LUFC quilt and try putting some big boy trousers on and a thinking cap before you utter such crap

Your good source obviously isn't that good then, as Killgallon has previously stated in an interview that when moving clubs he prefers to start a fresh and not look back as the past is the past, he stated this when Sheff Utd were looking at bring him back from Sunderland but he chose Doncaster due to that very reason.

Kightly looked to have a great future but has been injured for over 2 seasons. I don't believe SG would part with for our 8m asset for 3.8m + a high risk player
