The Football League have announced that they should have a ruling on Leeds United's prospective takeover within ten days.

Believable34 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - statement in full for you:

A Football League spokesman said: "At its meeting today, the Board of The Football League gave detailed consideration to the proposed takeover of Leeds United by Eleonora Sport Limited.

"The Board discussed the eligibility of the proposed purchasers under the Owners' and Directors' Test and examined evidence of both the source and sufficiency of funding. The majority of outstanding issues have now been resolved to The League's satisfaction and the Board anticipates receiving further information on the remaining issues, from the representatives of Eleonora, in the next week.

"The Board recognises the pressing need to resolve the matter and to provide certainty to all parties. It therefore anticipates being able to reach a conclusion in the next ten days."

Does somebody not believe Ed001 that this is the statement in full or can they not believe what the statement says!

Agree2 Disagree1

Did we honestly believe anything else would come out of the FL today? let's be honest people they are hoping that the case goes against Cellino next week and then they won't have a decision to make! Typical spineless beaurocrats.

So that's Monday March 24th isn't it? 10 days hits a weekend?

If the British courts and tax office did their jobs properly half the directors in the leagues would be facing tax evasion trials. Unfortunately Massimo has past history with Italian tax laws and is obviously under scrutiny. The case surrounds his yacht he bought and I believe registered in America thus avoiding higher Italian taxes. At worst he will be found guilty and have to pay the tax. This will not disqualify him from owning LUFC. If he receives a jail sentence, highly unlikely then obviously he cannot run the club from a jail cell. I suppose the FL have to wait to see the outcome but it seems like its Mr Harvey using his position to play hardball with LUFC. I f this was Arsenal, Chelsea or any of the golden brigade this would not be an issue. As for new manager expect BD to be there till summer then it will be one of Massimos men coming in. This guy has lots of contacts all over the world and we will have quality manager and players for next season. August 2015 Premier League, Glory Glory Leeds United

Does anybody have an idea of what the longest takeovers ever are? got to be on that list by now surely

Agree0 Disagree0

This TO is nothing compared to GFH taking over
MS put up the cash and exchanged
FL dragging their heels
Can only speculate that if MS's arrival on the scene was more subtle then he would be in by now

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not understand the people on here complaining that the Football League are holding up the deal or have a vendetta against Leeds. The proposed takeover is headed by a man who is in court next week for tax evasion. It make obvious sense to wait until that hearing, because if he is found guilty, he would not be fit or proper. GFH are the main culprits for exchanging with a man who is subject to a trial. It is obvious that this would be a problem. The Italian's previous misdemeanors are considered spent as they are more than 10 years old.

Cellino was arrested in February 2013 with the mayor of Quartu Sant'Elena, Mauro Contini, and the public works commissioner Stefano Lilliu, for attempted embezzlement and fraudulent misrepresentation following an investigation into the construction of the Stadio Is Arenas.

This case has still not been resolved and there could yet be court action.

Cellino's arrest warrant called him a man of "marked criminal tendencies. capable of using every kind of deception to achieve his ends

So perhaps you can see why the Football League are waiting.

The top and bottom of it all is that the italian government do not like people withdrawing financial backing from their own country to be placed elsewhere.

The case around tax evasion on the yacht was founded magically at the same time as Cellino began to talk about being interested in taking over an English football club.

In my opinion there will be no takeover because Cellino will be found guilty of tax evasion, and the FL will invent its own new rulings to show that he now has broken their rules and can't take over at Leeds.

The Italians know exactly how to control money leaving their country and will continue to do so. Time will tell, because if Cellino is found guilty, he should be forced to sell his current club anyway. If he isn't then it just goes to show how their government have guaranteed leaving his money in one of their own clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the poster at 14 Mar 2014 15:42:30 Cellino's yacht, was seized in Cagliari in 2010. Cellino was not talking about taking over Leeds then.

You are just making stuff up to back up your conspiracy theories, but it can easily be checked by using the net, so why bother

Agree0 Disagree0

When it come to Italians fiddling. No one can come closer than Bellasconi took corruption to new heights, alos a bloke called Nero did a bit of fiddling. the Germans no better Uli Hoeness over 22 million now that's fiddling. No cellino small time he´ll get off fingers crossed. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

There are now rumours that the tax due on the boat has been paid, hence the reason why the lawyers think it will take only a day and why Cellino is not attending.

Agree0 Disagree0

"The Italians know exactly how to control money leaving their country and will continue to do so."

How do you know where his money is?

This guy actually lives in Miami and appears to be able to find over a million pounds at a time to pump into Leeds?

Bet you wish you had that sort of money readily available?

Agree0 Disagree0

So what will the FL do if the trial is postponed then?

Extend the 10 day period over and over again, no doubt.

Obviously guilty till proven innocent.

David Haigh has declared Leeds will not go into administration if the takeover doesn't come off. Is it only me finding anything that comes out of the club nowadays hard to believe?

Believable29 Unbelievable11

Ticks most boxes?. So if that's 3 of 10 where anyone else 2 of 10, doesn't say a lot.

Agree1 Disagree1

Keep Calm and believe David Haigh?

Managing Director David Haigh has claimed there is no danger of the club going into administration, but should we still be worried?

In today ‘s Yorkshire Post Haigh assured us that the club has the funds to keep going for the time being, even though Massimo Cellino has stopped putting any further funding until such time as his takeover is approved.

'The club is in good hands. It has money and there is no chance of the club going into administration. None whatsoever. I keep hearing these whispers, where people have put two and two together to make 550. We had a winding-up order recently, which caused fans to panic. “

Agree1 Disagree0

He is not likely to say the club will go into admin is he! If the deal falls through they will go looking for another buyer, but they will have to accept a lower price. GFH with have to cut their losses all lose it all, it's a no brainer really. Expect to see Flowers back in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cellino quoted in same YEP editions as viewing Leeds United as a financial "black hole". He should know the true finances of our club better than anyone having seen the books and undertaken due diligence in pursuit of his bid to buy the club. His statement represents the polar opposite of Haigh's claims/re-assurances. David Haigh's rumours are 'unbelievable' every day of the week IMO.

Today is the day the football league are meeting to make their decision on cellino to be announced tomorrow

Believable13 Unbelievable53

Dont think it will be till after his case next week my self

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Mar 2014 08:47:23
That's a lie because they won't be making any decision till his tax case

Agree1 Disagree0

I think it's more likely that the FL will wait for outcome of the tax avoidance trial before announcing any decision, that way, if the trail goes against him, it make it easy for the FL to justify their decision. In meantime Cellino won't put any more money in, GFH haven't got any, the club is losing money, the team have no confidence, the manager is making excuses for poor performances. can things get much worse?. I can see us offloading the best player on loan to cut the wage bill and us looking over our shoulders at the relegation fight, this is almost as bad as the dark days of Krassner and his cronies!!

Agree3 Disagree0

The FL are meeting today to DISCUSS the takeover, amongst other things. don't get too carreid away with the idea they may actually make a decision today. I hope they do but not building my hopes up.

Does anybody know what time the meeting is with the fl?

I'ts to discuss if they prefer bourbons or custard creams with there PG tips.

Does anybody know the date of this tax trial?

Agree1 Disagree0

Court date for tax trial is next Tuesday,, 18th

Agree1 Disagree0

They agreed march 13th BEFORE the tax evasion claim. So they shd announce it tomorrow like good gentlemen

Agree1 Disagree1

Regardless of when the meeting is, the YEP won't be anywhere near. Armchair journalists.

Agree1 Disagree1

Thought the meeting was today? Why has nothing been said about it?

Agree1 Disagree0

The FL had meeting set for Today, that's all. Never a promise of decision.

Agree1 Disagree0

Nothing has been said because the football league will wait for the result of the tax evasion trial. Where have you been?

Who actually own Leeds United. We have GFH who are basically just a front with no money to invest looking to make money on the back of some one, Cellino, investing and taking us to the premiership. We have the Bahrain bank who have not funded Leeds since the take over. Why would a new owner keep Bates on as figure head when they knew fans hated him. Who actually set up GFH and put these puppets in place to tell us lies. They get loans from anyone they can, they swap shares around to suit the time of day and continually change roles, re David Haigh, at the drop of a hat. Who took the fit and proper person test when GFH took over and how did they pass any financial scrutiny when they obviously don't have any money. If they do as Haigh claims then why have they not invested in Leeds to gain promotion and backed the manager they think so highly of. No something not right with GFH and the FL should pass Massimo on the understanding that GFH sell the entire shares and Massimo gets 100% of Leeds and shake the leeches off
BIGE

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - GFH still own Leeds but the expectation remains that Cellino will take over at some point - but right now that is a while away. Plan B would to find another investor willing to take it on.}
