At the start of the season most supporters would have settled for a decent mid table finish. However, we did well at the start with just one or two slip ups and were well placed in the play offs.It was clear though that the back four was shaky and mid field was poor when not in possession. Obrian came in and things improved - not brilliant but better. Bromby has recently put in some decent shifts as well. The mid field was still poor when trying to regain possession. Three players Kilkenny, Johnson and Howson were needed to do the job of two good all round midielders. That meant only one up front (Bechio) and our most dangerous goal scorer had to stay on the bench. He can score goals probably better than Beckford but he can't do the job that Becchio does. He is not the lone striker type - needs to play off someone. Snodgrass and Gradel are very good going forward but sometimes forget to get back and support defence. So what does Grayson do? Brings in another two loan midfielders who are forward thinking but not that good in defence/ holding mode. Playing them meant that defensively we are weaker than before and some players esp. Howson are pushed into positions where they are less effective. Result : We keep losing and shipping in goals. Frustrating as we could have done better if Grayson had left the team alone or brought players that we really needed. Whose fault? Fairly obvious.
