Listen, we miss out on ALL players because of wages.
If Sheff cant afford him do you think that we can ,bearing in mind they got Bothroyd in front of us !!

Wunt say he awful, seems good 4 u21s
Wud do wel 4us actually
Agree1

What do you mean EVEN WORSE than Becchio??
Without Becchio we'd probably be bottom. Recently the midfield behind him has been made up of 2 DMs 1 CM and a LB.
He isn't getting enough service recently, probably needed the rest though in recent games.

GFH Capital Ltd are an investment firm. So there main business is investiing other people's money, i.e shareholders or private clients. This could mean that the reason the papers are all saying that they have no money is because they aren't using there money to buy Leeds or that they are acting as investors on behalf of a client. If you lookk up "investment firm" on the internet the explaination is - An investment company is a company whose main business is holding securities of other companies purely for investment purposes. The investment company invests money on behalf of its shareholders who in turn share in the profits and losses.
For all we know they could be the front team for a private buyer who doesn't want to reveal who they are until the takeoever is 100% complete. I'm not saying this is the case or that I have "insider info" because no one has "inside info". I am merely offering my opinion.

Plus gfh have invested over 9 billion since they formed in 1999 in over 25 different companies so cant 50 million is alot to these folks me thinks!

your right about what an investment firm does. But I think the fans need to know that when you have many investors it is very difficult to put the wishes of all into practice. Bottom line GFH HAVE NO MONEY of its own.

Its a goood theoryy and more importantly at the moment a positive onee cause im sick of all the doom and gloom people.

GFH C ultimately being a middle man would go some way to explain why everything is taking so long. As they would also require agreement on every issue of the TO by their clients (shareholders). I expect this to finalise shortly but have always had 2 small doubts. 1. Is the real buyer using GFH as they are personally unfit to run a club i.e. already own a football club. 2. If the real owners are a number of people making decisive decisions for the club may also take a long time going forward.
All in all though I'm ready to give GFH the benefit of the doubt as its Ken and the football leagues jobs to ensure they are fit and proper.
Agree1
Disagree0
Original poster. If they are acting on someone else's behalf they are the person/people who have to pass the fit and proper persons test. If it is a private deal it means the public don't get told who is actually buying the club but the FA and Football League would have to know to approve the deal.

After nearly 6 month's of doom and gloom, finally we have some positive new's.. before we all start chewing over the right's and wrong's of the takeover, hopefully in the near future the real investor will come out and speak. GFH are broker's !!

Oh for the days when clubs were run by local businessmen, and players were happy with a house in Wetherby and a Jag.....

Amazing... No one has jumped on this and said " Bates Out" . Have you banned all the people from posting ? lol
Agree0

Haha get a grip people, GFH are buying leeds for 50 million. They reckon if they invest a further 10-15 million they can reach the PL and sell for 100 million. It's actually a very good business model considering the profit leeds are currently making.

we have bben hearing this for many months. lay off lads.talk about the team and getting rid of NW.
Agree0

Getting rid of Warnock? What do you base that on? The fact he has had to work with a depleted squad of players that lets face it, are not the quality we need. Who do you expect to get in? Harry Redknapp, give it a rest. He has had to get loan players with low wages or free transfers so obviously hes not going to be able to bring in quality.

New takeover update. On official site now.
Update on investment...
GFH Capital have announced that they are in exclusive negotiations with Leeds United in respect of the proposed acquisition of the Club.
The relevant agreements are being processed by the respective legal teams and information supplied to the Football League as required under their regulations.
Nearly there now. So all those negative Leeds fans who are saying no take over I'm sure you will all apologise now or moan more cant decide which one.

Agree0

How is it not an update, it's telling us that Leeds and GFH have completed 99% of the formalities and its basically up to the Football league to accept the deal. then all that needs to be done is the signing.
It can only get better with GFH. MOT!
Agree1

It tells us if you can read its now down to the football league to give the go ahead and then should be announced.
Some ppl moan about anything.
Agree0

Like i posted earlier just wait till the football league say sorry you cant go ahead with this. So you'll have to wait for the sorry from me. Even if it does go through dont expect us to be the new man city, more like the new portsmouth
Agree0

Sentence one has been stated previously so is NOT an update.
secntence two has two parts; part one says they're lawyers are processing the agreements. Define processing - could be copying and distributing signed agreements, could be reviewing each others requested wording changes, could be doing spellcheck, could mean a bunch of things, but doesn't mean they've agreed anything.
sentence two, part two says they've sent what they needed to send up until this point which again was known. It was some months ago that Leeds were obligated to submit GFH's details to the league for vetting that they satisfy the league's requirements for any owner/buyer.
This update isn't worth the ink it isn't printed on.
I can't wait for this to be over with. I hope GFH are honest after the fact about why it took so long and have the balls to hang Bates. I am convinced the reason this took so long is because of how long it took to untangle the mess that is the corporate structure of ownership of Leeds United AFC, ER & TA.
Agree0

I agree that it looks like GFH will be our new owners, problem is I think they are almost skint and will have to borrow any money they want to invest in the team.

This was supposed to have take place many months ago- I would rather all this nosense never happened and the Fans bought the club assets. think if fans bought 1 share for 500quid, and with the number of business and wealthy fans around yorshire and the world this is a possibility.( 40Mil). then sell the club to prospective buyers on long lease. Fans still own the Club grounds and other facilities.
Agree1

For them to put hat outit looks like they are just getting the ok from the football league and then thats it?? at least thats how i read it. but I have been drinkig so maybe im wrong lol
Agree0

Of course its an update in the sence that the speculation has been made offical. For one the OS has never metioned takeover its always been refered to as investment which technically it is, but from bates POV isnt as disrespectful. And I think the key word is the relevent "agreements" surely that indicates negotiations have now ended and they have come to an "agreement" otherwise they would have just been legal documents. Surely we are a days away now, I think it will still be a massive anti climax, however I bet mors ppl will be chanting bates name in good ridance rather than shouting about what may come in the future.
Agree0

Looks like it's actually NOT over then, the period of exclusivity has just been extended.....
... here we go again then?
Agree0

No Iam appologising, 18th in the league with a team of misfits, if this so called takeover happened in the summer we would be going into the xmas period in the top three. So keep your high and mighty junk of sh1t comments to yourself or are you happy in a relegation fight???
Agree0

"So keep your high and mighty junk of sh1t comments to yourself or are you happy in a relegation fight??"
Totally agree, this has been a farce from the word go.
I have been a TRUE Leeds supporter for over 40 years and the past few months have been a revelation.
It is fairly obvious that Bates is only interested in geting his money (all 50 million quid of it) and then walking away into the sunset.
Can't say I blame him, but then first and foremost I am a Leeds supporter, and what ever comes next can't be as bad as someone selling our best players - we don't have any left!
I just hope there is someone with real money behind this current bid, but as long as Bates sells his share he won't be giving a sh1te!!
Agree0

To the original poster:
You still so cocksure this is going to happen then?
sometime when, exactly?
If it isn't before the transfer window runs out on thursday you better hope our boys can pull it back together, otherwise we will be so far down the league that we won't get promotion, and once the golden egg (premier league tv rights) disappear out of the window, nobody is going to be attracted to invest?
I hope we are are wrong and this investment comes off big time, but it hasn't happened so far and still isn't hapeneing now.....

Bad jokes? - the takeover and mock concern for fans and the long term stability of the club by Ken and GFH is one in my opinion. If they really cared about the football club not just the business it would have been done months ago. Brewery? Organise? in? make you're own joke from these!

Ed, is that what we are waiting on,?the football league to approve the take over? I thought they had previously accepted GFH had the backing to purchase a club, but I dont know how it works. {Ed013's Note - They have to agree to it and make sure it is all legal}
Agree0

Ed - If its with the football league do you or anybody else know how long this process usually takes? Should we be using the same piece of string used to measure the time scales for the TO? {Ed013's Note - No more than 10 working days, but then again it is Leeds United!}
