Jermaine Beckford appears to be available. let's show a bit of ambition and beat Sven and McLaren to him, eh Ken?

Believable9 Unbelievable17

He wouldn't come back in a month of Sundays. He saw Leeds as a stepping stone nothing but.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Forest get him they will definately score goals but it's hard to imagine that anyone could have a pair of strikers as lazy as those two especially if things are not going well. The only way Beckford will return to ER is as an opponent.

Agree0 Disagree0

After tonights performane, Beckford is the last person we need back, we have a team, playing together, no room for individuals like Beckford....

Agree0 Disagree0

I would go as far to say that tonights performance was probably the best team effort since last Xmas.4-4-2 is far better than playing with one striker. I would definately leave Gradel out in favour of Nunez for the next game. Why should a player get sent off, cost his team 3 points and then walk straight back into he team. However, in respect of Beckford he was the best finisher we have seen at the club since Hasselbaink. If Beckford had been around last season then we would have been in the top 3- the amount of chances that were wasted last year was unbelievable and if Beckford had been on the end of them instead of Becchio then the final outcome would have been different

Agree0 Disagree0

What are you people on best finisher since hasselbaink what drugs you on he was an average finisher and so many shots and missed countless one on ones. he has a terrible first touch is bad in the air and is lazy yes he has pace but we dont need him

Agree0 Disagree0

He was best striker by far away with ya bull......and would be welcomed back for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

Who said he's available, just because a club bids for a player doesnt automatically mean he's available - wish people on here werent so deluded

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford was magnificent for this club, yes he had many shots but his goals tally at the end of the season could not be faulted. However he is arrogant and would disrupt the dressing room, so I for one would not want him back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Best finisher since Hasselbaink?

Mark Viduka

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he would rip this division up after a year of Premier league experience. Whatever happens we cant afford him, Everton want 3 mil....

Agree0 Disagree0

First of all 442 is definately the best system for us, stick with that and we will be more than comfortable in the league this season.

As for beckford 1. we dont have anywhere near the amount of money he would cost in a transfer fee and also the wages he will command now. 2. Beckford was a brilliant finisher who was forever scoring impressice goals and was by far one of the best strikers we have had at the club for some time 20+ a season speaks for itself nothing more can be said.

Agree0 Disagree0

Buy beckford for £3 million more than we got for him and offerhim the wages we should have to keep him ... be real pal were just loosing out on money we dont need him Mcormack, keoge whos quality ... becchio when hes back ..

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree regarding gradel. If someone is prepared to pay good money for him I'd take it. Our biggest problem will be holding onto Nunez in January

Agree0 Disagree0

2 things

1 nobody has said he's available
2 he's stated he doesnt want to go anywhere and wants to stay at everton

Just because a club makes a bid for a player DOES NOT mean he is available. get real, he wouldnt come back anyway as we can't afford him

Agree0 Disagree0

Speculation:
Jermaine Beckford wants to stay at Everton despite attracting interest from a number of clubs. SSports website

Agree0 Disagree0

Did well in league one but not worth 3 million hasnt made it in premiership can get as good for free, prefer forsell he can score goals

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha I love this, Beckford a good finisher dont make me laugh, if i was playing upfront in our league one days i would of scored as many as he did. As a previous poster put, awful in the air and missed countless sitters and one on ones. The teams goals scoring making ability was shown last year when becchio bagged 19. All this proves to me that if we would of invested in a quality striker, definately not beckford, and a quality CB in the summer we would of been flying.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he was avaiable then we should at least make an effort to sign him Beckford is a class striker , but why would Everton want to sell there top scorer from last season yes 10 goals the same as saha and if they did 2.5 to 3 million would seem a bit cheap by premier league standards unless Kenwright is bates in disguise

Agree0 Disagree0

Ken wouldn,t pay him what he wanted before so the answer is no he won,t be coming to us

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously people who want Beckford back don`t know alot about football. Confidence player who misses s..t loads of makeable chances.Lazy with a capital L.
Like gary neville he was lucky to be in a good team at the right time

Agree0 Disagree0

Did none of you see that goal vs Chelsea a few months back? if he is available, which i doubt considering Everton's current situation, we should snap their hands off.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will bet right now, that however much Forssell impresses in training, no matter if SG feels he could make a real difference to us, we still won't be able to agree a deal with him that suits all parties. Unless he fancies playing for a Mars bar and a bag of peanuts every week. Hope I am wrong.

Leeds to sign Jake Livermore from spurs I think this would be a good signing as he is an identicl player to Johnson who we really miss in the middle of the park

Believable15 Unbelievable15

That the same Jake Livermore who was as much use as a one armed paper hanger we loaned last season?

Agree0 Disagree0

What a lot of balls. Johnson was only any use when he played on the left, but he had no pace and his decision making and finishing in general were rubbish

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you not see how bad he was when he was here on loan?

Agree0 Disagree0

Was gonna post the same as the last fella First poster do u actually watch leeds?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Livermore didn't look that good when we had him on loan but given time and games he may be just what we need a bit of muxcle in midfield with pace and not 35

Agree0 Disagree0

Livermore? Have u been drinking? I don't see how we miss Johnson anyway, I'd love more cover in midfield but I've been impresses with Clayton

Agree0 Disagree0

What a load of arse. Livermore could not break into our midfield ahead of Howson, Clayton, Snodgrass, Gradel, Nunes and Brown. Do you even go to Elland Road and watch the team?

Agree0 Disagree0

Johnson was a donkey and Livermore just as much as...dont miss Johnson and dont need Livermore

Agree0 Disagree0

Johnson is a sly git, rmembr agenst norwich in lege 1whn he got our opener and he waz smilin his head off and now luk at him nw.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't know about Livermore.

He came on as a late sub at home just after he signed on loan, he looked different quality.

But then he played absolutely terribly for every other game he took part in. Inconsistent? Lacking match fitness?

Bare in mind how terrible Clayton was when he was on loan. Now he's unbelievable.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think johnson barely ever played well in the middle, his touches were terrible and his communication must have been bad aswell to have lost the ball so many times But thats were SG played him for the majority of the season last year so he was just a waste o space

Agree0 Disagree0

Bradley johnson is s**te always was and as for livermore your joking surely , he is terrible

We need to play 4.4.2 that is our game every one in league no how we play at 4.5.1 and it's is crap 2 strikers up front and we will win

Believable13 Unbelievable3

Bang on - I for one am sick of seeing a team with a better set of players appear to under perform against lesser teams because of 451 - MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

The last 2 games of last season showed that it works. Even with Paynter as he is a good foil for McCormack.

451 works with Becchio and no one else. Playing a lone striker is not an easy job, Becchio can do it, but no one else can at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

No, 4-1-3-2

Lees Bromby Kisnorbo O'dea
Brown
Snodgrass Clatyton Sam
McCormack Keogh

MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Easy to say after that scoreline
it's nice to have the ability to adapt, and the players.
Who do you drop? Brown 'apparently' is defending the back 4, clayton and howson-no way Snoddy and gradel-our best players So it's brown and back to leaking goals
I say keep it 4.5.1 until we trust our defence then go 4.4.2. If we winning 1.0 on 70 mins then go 4.5.1.
That's why we pay our manager and really he's not bad {Ed025's Note - makes a change from sack him..sack him...last week

Agree0 Disagree0

No
Lees - Kisnorbo- O'dea- new left back
Snodgrass - Clayton - Howson - Gradel
McCormack Keogh

Winner everytime
i wanted to put nunez on the wing but snodgrass and gradel are too good..could put him in the middle but we need claytons bite in midfield and howsons the captain so he will be a started everytime when available.

Agree0 Disagree0

Re sack him sack him
you notice I have never have said that
I agree with your point that too many one here suffer knee jerk however.
Have you noticed that people on here dropping Nunez suddenly- even after he scored?
It's a about a squad and tactics otherwise everyone on here would put on 10 strikers and billy would be reported to trading standards Ridiculous but we all love the passion {Ed025's Note - all i am saying is support leeds..support the manager...he loves the club..and so should all the supporters, stick together, and we will be fine!

Agree0 Disagree0

Support Leeds support the manager
totally agree with you ed
Nothing won after 2 games
I still say to those still slagging off our board, wait till the window is shut and prem teams have 25 man squads named.
This is a rumours page and invariably many are wrong. Maybe just maybe a gem is being worked on.

Agree0 Disagree0

4-4-2 has always been our best formation...going back to the premiership to league 1 to last night

4-5-1 is a good formation when we want to keep a lead, like last night, 4-1 up then SG changed it.

Love SG, best manager we have had since O'Leary years.

MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

4 4 2 if we need to chase a game partcularly at home, but we need the option of an attacking 4 5 1 especially when playing away against teams with a strong midfield ie west ham on sunday it is very good management and tactical awareness to be able to have the flexibility to change especially with the small budget he has to work with and beckford leaving for nothing last season, grayson is a top young manager and we should always remember that.mot.

Hi, Ed, I would appreciate if you would publish this to help me out. Has anyone got a link to commentary for tonight's game? Thanks alot.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Other than the bbc live text (NO VOICE COMMENTARY), the only way to listen to the commentary live is on dab digital radio (yorkshire radio) and on on 104.7fm (Minster fm (YORK)) they do not work online or via sky tv due to licensing restrictions

Just to update, i know its not directly about us, but according to SSN it looks like Beckford will be returning to elland road as part of the Leicester team this season.

Believable10 Unbelievable6

If he does i for one will lose all respect for him, he left us for a 'bigger' club and prem football, not a worse club with free crisps for life. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

The guy had to grab the chance when it came along and if it didn't work out that is unfortunate but dont criticise him for trying to better himself.

Agree0 Disagree0

At the end of the day. Beckford had the chance to go have a stab at the Premiership. He left us,after taking us back to the Championship. Great player. Would welcome him back to Elland Road with great applause.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not having a dig at him for trying to better himself in the prem, but i would feel betrayed if he went to leicester , wouldn't u?

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless we play them in a cup. He won't be coming to Elland Road till the last game of the season when he will have to stand and watch us recieve the Championship Trophy. Sven will be managing in some tropical land and Leicester will be back in administration after the Thai "duty free" money men have gone home to catch ping pong balls

Leicester city make bid for beckford. £2.5 million Sweet that would be the icing on the cake that if he went there............

Believable6 Unbelievable7

16 Aug 2011 11:43:14
I thought we urgently needed a striker
Andy Keogh on wikipedia, has a very poor game to goal ratio

Sorry but Grayson isnt any good in the transfer market

2010–2011 → Cardiff City (loan) 16 (2)
2011 → Bristol City (loan) 9 (1)

Believable9 Unbelievable7

Lets kick the lad before he's kicked a ball shall we Give him a chance ffs

Agree0 Disagree0

But you have to realise that really good strikers cost a lot of money. If you havn't got a pot to piss in you buy average strikers who do not score many goals. Then you charge stupid , gullible fans premiership money ..make profits... Basic economics.

Agree0 Disagree0

How about befor slating Him wait till he as played for us first give the lad a chance plus he is one of our academy player

Agree0 Disagree0

58goals in 198 app plus his assist and work rate he is a good player let him playe first go sake

Agree0 Disagree0

As apposed to somma who was top form before we got him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't need to be prolific... He can hold ball up for others

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a player like him for the 451 formation look at what a good job mckormack is doing there.

Agree0 Disagree0

The 5th post is spot on Just because a players past is no that great does not mean he will faul for us... max at leicester is another point....

what do you so call fans want? over paid, over rated players? that would jump ship at the first problem?

look at leicester now going for beckford... one of our ex players...
2-3m and £20,000 aweek.... if leicester dont go up you watch there team fall apart, money is not endless.

Get behind the team, player, manger and old man bates
the word united means together, thats what being a leeds fans is all about staying together and seeing it throw to the end
we are leeds

we will get points tonight.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Works hard for the team just what we need a big help to Big Mac

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford gets 60k a week. my dad was talking to everton coach and thats what he said.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not about scoring goals as he proved tonight EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE...

Agree0 Disagree0

One main misconception with the original post. Keogh is not being used as a striker, he is being used as a forward. Forwards are players used as a foil or a target man and it is their job to draw defenders away from the main striker, or to lay off balls to attacking midfielders. If they can know in a few goals in a season, the way Becchio does so well, all the better. Keogh demonstrated his ability to play as a forward tonight, with excellent results.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just come back from Elland road where we beat Hull 4-1 and Keough played a blinder, holding the ball up, passing, everything, a solid team performance.

Hope you idiots are watching........ {Ed025's Note - how fickle are you people..calling for sg,s head on saturday!...shame on you..

Agree0 Disagree0

He reminds me of Alan Smith with his work rate.
he might not have scored a goal every 2 games like ud want in an ideal world. but hes a striker who helps the team and does score goals..
Also smith scored 38 in 172 games..does that mean he was a s**t striker for us ?

If we had a chance to sign keogh, and we didnt take it, we'd be fools

Agree0 Disagree0

So you dont like Graysons judgement eh Well Andy keogh played very well last night and long may that continue.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 09:46:50
Thomas Hitzlsperger will turn up at Leeds just before the transfer window closes

Believable10 Unbelievable18

So hes not signing then, just turning up. how pointless?

Agree0 Disagree0

You are having a laugh right? Do you seriously think we can afford his wages?

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish this was true but i think we have more chance of seeing ken bates giving simon grayson £100 million to spend in january. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Source? + why would he have left West Ham if he was happy playing the championship?

can we afford his wage demands? i am very much inclined to say no

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would he wait he is out of contract- or are you trying to say he will come as a last resort if no one else wants him ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hitzlsperger is quality, but leeds wont be able to afford him plus why leave WHU,a fellow championship side who have bags of talent to go to us?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2011 23:56:33
we despreately need sammy clingan this guy and a left back would probaly get us up . he works hard as anyone in the league , loves a good tackle , a good leader , got championship and international experience , good set pieces aswell and has alot of passion and determination which is what leeds is about this signing would be the best signing in a long time , we got 1.5 for kasper . we have spent 150 k of it clingan would command a fee of over 500k upto 1million which we should defo pay

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Do you not read what bates said we don't have a million to spend on 1 player we won't pay any money out unless we need to so it free players and loan players is bates words. And It dose not take one man to get a team going it a team what gets u up

Agree0 Disagree0

We won't be spending - loans, trilalists and out of contract players is our transfer policy

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree mate, Sammy Clingan would be an outstanding buy, exactly what we need in the middle of the park. Mon the Whites tonight

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates said in his programme nots that we only got 750k for kasper

Agree0 Disagree0

Any chance of Clingan coming ED??
We couldn't expect Brown to take the DM role for the whole of the season, could we? he'd certainly be suspended through Yellow cards at some point in the season. {Ed001's Note - he's available for a decent price, but I have not heard of any interest as of yet.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but we got 750,000 for kasper do you honestly think we will spend a million on a player? I don't

Agree0 Disagree0

Whatever money we got still should be used to strengthen the sqaud

Agree0 Disagree0

And will get upto 1.5 thats what he said so if the big money leicester spend it in installments so can we.he also said if the player is the right one who will improve us which clingan defo does we will spend money. it would kill him like to spend money but we need these sort of players we brought zak thompson on at boro never played a game in his life at pro level

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes it does take a team to get up but quality like clingan help the team so you would rather have zak thompson playing then because if we got clingan drop brown to bench then we are covered .clingna is like a mix of clayton and brown

Agree0 Disagree0

We got 750k for kasper, that goes into the kitty which is for everything to do with transfers and wages inc signing on fees, if SG spends 1.5m in cliningan, we will be skint, it wont happen, he aint worth that anyway, until we get a chairman or invester with ££££££££££££££ expect to continue seeing frees, loans and cheapo's

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates wont spend it unfortunatly, and to the first comment, one player with decent ability can buck the ideas of the team up to get us going so you never know, just takes the right player

Agree0 Disagree0

We get upto 1.5 in installmets so if big money foxes can pay installmets why carnt we hed be available for 500k upto 750k and would make big diffrence

Agree0 Disagree0

When listerening to the game on saturday the commintaor said leeds do have money and read a list of wot money has been made in the last thew years but and it was quite a bit so were has it all gone?

Agree0 Disagree0
