DAILY MAIL: Clint Hill, Joel Ward
and Paul Green all on NW radar. Reinforcing what we all ready know. Been impressed with what I have seen with Hill so good signing if we do the deal.

Believable27 Unbelievable6

Seemed to have missed out both on Ward AND Green. Wages! Both off to Ipswich.

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know there off to ipswich?? where does it say this? people said same about pearce that he was going to norwich because of wages n prem football and was wrong... source

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumours posted by......Ipswich fans! Ward seemingly more likely to go to Palace not because of wages but he wants to stay down south.
Green didn't sign a new contract for Derby because he wanted too much money

Agree0 Disagree0

Gotta laugh when some people poo poo good news within seconds. Mail report last night and already someone in the know ? 'Yeah right' Remember IPSWICH already wasted dosh last year and you honestly believe they will embark on another spending spree this year when results were so bad ? Dream on

Agree0 Disagree0

After what happened to Ipswich this season, why would any player want to go there?

Free agent owen hargreaves could be set for the whites after admitting he would take a pay as you play deal and lower league football for more first team football.

Believable15 Unbelievable27

Teams would just tackle him hard and he'd get injured. Not worth the chance

Agree0 Disagree0

Not much of a risk if its on pay as you play but still doubt he would take that much of pay cut. Maybe a trip "HOME" to germany or even canada lol. Brayzerwhite

Agree0 Disagree0

Was a really good player -no idea what his fitness is like; but a far superior player to Smith, who for some reason still gets mentioned

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember in euro 2004 against portugal when we got knocked out, hargreaves was by far our best player. fitness was absolutely unbelievable and a very good player. god knows if he is anything like the player he was

Agree0 Disagree0

Euro 2004?! That was 8years ago, that's almost a life time in football. Way past his peak, will never be the same player again!

Agree0 Disagree0

Injury-prone players are always difficult signings, as it's a gamble on keeping them fit. It can backfire like Dyer at QPR, but I think Woodgate and King this season got a lot more games under their belt then in previous seasons.

Hargreaves would want the maximum we could offer, which I presume is 15k. No doubt a team like Leicester would come in and offer 25k. Hargreaves had the chance to move to WBA but he took the money and ran, so to me it will be a competition on who can offer him the most money.

Alan smith back at elland rd on a pay per game only

Believable7 Unbelievable54

Aren't we getting tired of this yet?
If he does come back, he'll be disappointing and we'll all say "what a waste of time and money" and the reputation of St Smithy will be tarnished forever. Just give it up.
DonnyLeeds

Agree0 Disagree0

^ wouldn't be a waste of money on a pay as you play deal cos he'd never play! 'st smithy' think he's reputation is pretty low with most fans these days, he's a poor footballer who used to be decent but left us when we were in the s**t.

Agree0 Disagree0

St Smithy was more of a tongue-in-cheek statement :P I agree he was not as good as some people like to think.
DonnyLeeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Smith was brilliant at Leeds, he played his heart out for the club.

And as for leaving us when we were in the s**t, he was on high wages and we got the best deal for the club (Man U offered straight cash when no-one else did)

He could have stayed like Gary Kelly did, refusing to drop his wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

But openly stating he would only go to man u stopped any further bids coming in that may have been cash up front rathert han installments but it suits you smithy fans weak argument that hes some club hero, grow up. Lorimer has stated several different things about the smith move yet when they are seriously considering his return he releases his first pro smith statement when all the ones previosuly have been negative regarding the move, though you all choose to accept this one as the truth and 100% fact and conveniently ignore those comments previosuly made by Lorimer and Gray regarding Smith. Typical.
If he was leeds through and through or even soley focused on his international career than why did he turn down England to play in Man U reserves (because he wanted his squad position back)? Or why didnt he return to ER on loan when Ferguson gave the OK, again he opted to stay in scums reserves. But hes leeds isnt he, he's had his chances and he stated in that interview he's not had the chance to return when we all know different! The guys near to retirement so leave him to it, we're moving forward and he isnt, let him wollow in regret but I for one am moving forward and that doesnt involve an old player with no pace and someone who seriously lacks physical fitness. Christened "The White Pele" during his time at Charlton, Luke Varney looks to be making a move to the Whites... fee between £600-800k. Would be a welcome addition, great on the wing and with a good eye for goal up front. MOT

Believable1 Unbelievable14

Luke Varney wasn't christened "The White Pele". George Boyd is the person you should be referring to, he has also been linked with us! However, if we sign him, i can see one of our better player; probably Snodgrass leaving!

Agree0 Disagree0

First replier to this hasnt a clue. bringing boyd/varney in wouldnt make snoddy wana leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good eye for goal have you seen hi goalscoring record look it up you wont want a striker who scorred less than 80 goals on over 400 appearances

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the first person to reply was meaning if we signed one of them it would suggest the club were getting someone in with a view to cashing on on Snoddy

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you've got the wrong player here -the player we have been strongly linked with who was referred to as 'The White Pele' was actually George Boyd, who is known for his trickery, and who I have at Leeds without hesitation. Varney is a bit of a journeyman really.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree where do you get your source but you are correct.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm the first person to reply, do have a clue! What i am implying is if we signed George Boyd, Snodgrass or Mccormack would probably leave due to financial constraints ie funding the transfers and wages!

Joey Barton has had a fee agreed as qpr are not impressed with his behaviour and Neil Warnock are sorting things out after their argument. Sky Sports News and Vital Leeds

Believable14 Unbelievable35

Joey Barton doesnt deserve the chance to play for a Sunday league team - never mind a club with the history of Leeds. Diouf would be bad enough but Barton would be a step too far imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant believe i wasted my time checking but no mention on sky on either leeds or qpr pages. Utter tosh. thank you and good night. BrayzerWhite

Agree0 Disagree0

No mention of barton anywhere. I wouldn't want that toxic little gob shi@e anywhere near our club

Agree0 Disagree0

Why sign a player who will be banned for at least the first ten games next season, maybe even longer. I cant see Bates agreeing to cover his wages while he sits on his backside until October.

Agree0 Disagree0

Joey Barton, thug and twitter t**t extraordinaire. average footballer being vastly overpaid though. total c**t

Agree0 Disagree0

I believes he still has much to offer to the prem! Mac

Agree0 Disagree0

Was it not Barton that effectively got NW the sack at qpr by bad mouthing him to the owners, Diouf would be bad enough but I really can't see him signing Barton

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2012 20:53:33
Leeds united are set to sign fitz hall from QPR, the versatile defender is highly rated by manager neil warnock.

Talks have apparently broke down with Joel Ward due to wage demands although i expect him to sign due to leeds united's pull.

Expect paul green to sign within 48 hours, old news i know.

Lastly i would like to mention a rumour that El Hadj Diouf have discussed a pre-contract which will commense on July 26th, this is when his contract with doncaster officially runs out.

Trust warnock with whoever he brings in, give all players a chance to prove themselves. Bring on next season MOT!

LUFC_96

Believable22 Unbelievable9

Hi, so another forty eight hours to a signing, who will be next? Mel Gibson and Danny Glover?
Richard Keogh, Lee Mattock and Joel Ward would have the defence pretty much sorted.
Paul Green, George Boyd and Danny Guthrie would see the midfield pretty much sorted.
The return of Somma would mean that the forwards would be pretty much sorted.
Plenty of last years starters to back up, with some promising youngsters coming through.
Not a promotion winning team in its first season, so the Warlock may stay another season to see the job done.

tRip

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi, did I say Lee? Living up to my muppet lable (see banter site), I should have said Joe, sorry for any confusion, just off nights and drowsy.

tRip

Agree0 Disagree0

Jo Mattock is a cretin. I live in Leicester and every friend who is a City fan have told me he's an awful defender and a thug. He was arrested for punching three people on a drunken night out two mins from where I work. Add him to the list of disgraces we don't want near Elland Road (which obviously includes Diouf and the ridiculous Barton rumour) - JamesC

MOT

Believable16 Unbelievable35

Add these to our current squad and that would be a great team to push for promotion, however don't want or believe diouf will join us. Also why would we be signing so many forwards when he's building from the back

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know where people get these rumours from, let's be honest if we get a couple from your list we will be lucky
But I wish we would get them soon or another season like the one just gone and that's not on. We the fans deserve better.

Agree0 Disagree0

These would cost in excess of Ł10m. Get real.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think people need to learn the difference between rumour and wishful thinking.
DonnyLeeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldnt cost 10m, at least 3 of these players are free. wouldnt get half of them though. could end up with 2 or 3 of them

Why would we want to sign 3/4 strikers when we already have becchio , somma & mccormack ? this is bull !!

Somen Tchoyi released by West Brom....worth a punt, hatrick v newcastle earlier season before.

Believable25 Unbelievable14

Definitey worth a punt, would be a great addition

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you for real? would be a complete waste of money buying any player from West Brom is suicide get gone

Agree0 Disagree0

Well we wouldn't buy him if he has been released mate would we? from what i saw he was strong and fast i think he'd do very well in the EC.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's an odd one. Big man who plays on the wing. unorthodox but worth a punt.

Agree0 Disagree0

So buying someone like long, morrison etc would be suicide? get real mate!

Agree0 Disagree0

3 BEEN released today tchoyi shorey and mattock have any of them tbf

Just got a text from my cousin who lives in Leeds, he's had a few people tell him that Leeds are looking at Darius Henderson.

My dad works with Paddy Kenny's cousin and he has said that Paddy and NW have been in touch with each other. He is said to want a move back north (Kenny from Halifax) as his family and kids are up here.

I'm not suggesting that we are about to sign him, just wanted to inform you all of my knowledge. Whether it goes through or not is another story

Believable24 Unbelievable30

Paddy is not that good a keeper anyway and i doubt him and loners want to play second fidle. What we really need is someone to play second fidle ie; lewis on a free. Lads got lots of purtential and is only 24yr old. mot4life

Rumours going round (not sure how true they are) that the Ward deal has broken down due to wages. People reckon he's off to Ipswich now, should probably have seen that coming :/

DonnyLeeds

Believable23 Unbelievable34

Some say Palace, some say Ipswich, some say Leeds! In other words, no-one knows!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think nw should walk away as never going to get us up with bates running the club

Agree0 Disagree0

"I think nw should walk away as never going to get us up with bates running the club"

I've got an idea. Why don't you buy the club off him, and then you can do a better job and spend loads of money and get us promoted?

Agree0 Disagree0

"I've got an idea. Why don't you buy the club off him, and then you can do a better job and spend loads of money and get us promoted?"

Hi Ken.

Agree0 Disagree0

A better idea still would be for Bates to take the vast amounts of money that club club receive every year and spend it on football rather than pointless development work that will take decades to pay for itself, loss making restaurants, conference facilities and Radio Stations. If he decides he won't invest in giving the club a return to the Premier League which is now desperately leave it, then I would suggest he put the club up for sale, which he currently hasn't because he doesn't want to sell it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why does Jewell seem to go for all the players Leeds want? he did the same last summer, it's like he reads the papers/websites, see's who Leeds are meant to be after, then decides to do the same

Plus anyone that chooses Ipswich over Leeds are idiots anyways {Ed013's Note - They went in for Pearce and Ward in January}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi, as an asides to this buy the club yourself talk, I would buy Leeds when my balls drop.., on the lottery.
How much grease would be needed on the palm of Mr Bates to wrestle it from his grasp?
Ball park will do, though I would be worried of what we here call "Red Cavalier syndrome", that is, the price of something always goes up when someone is interested in buying it, and then it was not for sale afterall.

tRip

Agree0 Disagree0

If Ward is more interested in money let him go to the football wasteland that is Ipswich. He can then exchange stories with his mate Pearce next May about how he wished he was looking forward to Premier League football with Leeds instead of another struggle against relegation with the Tractor Boys.

Bolton Wanderers have had a 600k bid for Adam Clayton accepted.

Believable14 Unbelievable48

Please confirm where you have got this information from. I would have thought at least 750k. Why would he go there its a step backwards.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's worth more than that. F*+k off Bolton we want at least a million with add ons

Agree0 Disagree0

He will go there because they will pay him what he wants whereas we wont.

Agree0 Disagree0

600K where did you get this figure from, I'd want 1.5 mill Gj

Agree0 Disagree0

Bolton are in large amounts of debt and will not be signing anyone for prices like this until they have sold their main assets on larger wages. I.e David N'gog

Agree0 Disagree0

There was a rumour that owen coyle was interested in him in jan(google who is interested in adam clayton). This poster has probably just done the same and thought I know I will look like im in the know, pointless really. And as another poster said Bolton are in all sorts of trouble and you would imagine they would have to sell before they buy.

Looks good to me, experienced defender that has been there and done it. Also according to the article he got "players’ player and fans’ player of the year at Rangers".

TeejLUFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt he will get him it depends on who QPR sign. He won fans player and Players player awards for QPR.

Agree0 Disagree0

They will just sign white for free leeds will get around 1.5 mil and sign hill with a small fee {Ed013's Note - Hill is out of contract}

Agree0 Disagree0

Clint will be staying at QPR
Hughes wants to reward him with a new contract, this is a fact Gj {Ed013's Note - How do you know Gj? he has been a very good player this season so it wouldn't surprise me if they did offer him one}

Neil Warnock looks set to renew his interest in left-back Clint Hill following Queens Park Rangers’ successful fight against relegation.

The Leeds United manager could move in for Hill after QPR secured a second year in the Premier League on the final weekend of the season.

Hill, pictured left, has been a fixture in Rangers’ line-up during the past nine months and started their last league game away to Manchester City on Sunday but the London club are likely to listen to offers for him as they set about rebuilding their own squad.

Warnock took Hill to Loftus Road in the summer of 2010 and used him throughout QPR’s Championship title-winning campaign.

The pair also worked together at Crystal Palace, where Warnock signed Hill from Stoke City, and the versatile defender appears to be on Warnock’s radar again.

QPR manager Mark Hughes, who replaced Warnock at Loftus Road earlier in the year, promised major changes to his squad after narrowly staving off relegation.

“The club wasn’t ready for the Premier League but we are moving very quickly,” Hughes said. “There’s no way we’ll be in this situation again in my time here.”

A new left-back is among Leeds’ many requirements after a campaign in which the position changed hands several times.

Darren O’Dea, Aidan White and Danny Pugh were all fielded on the left side of defence before Warnock signed Paul Robinson on loan from Bolton Wanderers at the beginning of March.

The experienced Robinson, who is at the end of his contract at Bolton, came to Elland Road with a view to a permanent deal but Warnock chose not to pursue the signing despite Robinson making nine league starts.

Click here to register and have your say on the Leeds United stories and issues that matter to you

Hill, 33, was yesterday named the players’ player and fans’ player of the year at Rangers.

Hill could now be invited to join a United backline which began to take shape with the recent capture of centre-back Jason Pearce.

Leeds remain in the running for the signature of Portsmouth’s Joel Ward, a £400,000 target, with Warnock looking to conclude the deal before the week is out.

The United boss is following through with his promise to pursue quick signings in the summer transfer window and is he one of a number of managers looking closely at out-of-contract Derby County midfielder Paul Green.

I'd be happy with a squad of:

GK's: Lonergan, Cairns (Emergency loanee if Lonergan gets injured

Defenders: Ward (RB, can play other positions), Pearce, Lees (Can play RB as back-up), Hill, Whitbread, Kisnorbo, Bromby (injured)

Midfielders: Snodgrass, Boyd, Brown, Rogers, Green, Diouf, Clingan, Pugh (can also play LB), White (can play both sides and LB)

Strikers: Becchio, Somma, Another pacy striker

ALL YOUNGSTERS GO OUT ON LOAN UNLESS NEEDED

Sales to fund transfers in:
Clayton, McCormack (like him but doesn't fit into our formation), all other players listed sold or released

Starting 11: Lonergan
Ward Pearce Whitbread Hill

Snodgrass Green Clingan Diouf

PACY STRIKER Becchio

BENCH:
Boyd
Lees
Pugh (Average but plays ok in 3 positions)
White
Somma

Believable6 Unbelievable18

Would take Ambrose instead of Diouf any day of the week.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take ambrose over diouf, boyd and about 90% of the guff we have been linked with, and another thing why do ppl keep banging on about whitbread, the last thing we need is another guy who potentially could end up being out for most the season with injuries. We are going to have a fairly small squad next season it appears so why would warnock risk signing a guy who picks up injuries all over the place and plays on average about 20 games a year; Richard Keogh is a far better option imo. And im sorry but if a guy who bangs in 19 goals for a team that finishes 14th in the table doesn't fit into your formation then collect your pink slip on the way out.

Agree0 Disagree0

How does MCCormack not fit into your formation? How does a versatile player who can play as an out and out striker, a drop off striker or a wide attacking midfielder not fit into your formation? What formation did you have in mind 8-2-0

Agree0 Disagree0

He scores goals, I just feel he's the player we need to cash in on to help other areas of the team. We need to bring someone else in who works better with Becchio instead cause Ross and Becchio don't combine that well, although they're good in their own right

Agree0 Disagree0

What a load of rubbish. im a season ticket holder and they bounce off eachother when they play. beccio does the doggy work and mcormack puts it in the net. simple. you clearly have no idea about how football works

Whats the point in posting on here ! when all I get is nasty comments from people, I have only put what I have been told, its not like I have said messi will be signing for us, wish he would though !! {Ed013's Note - Ignore it mate, its banter! If only you knew how many Messi, Ronaldo and Smith rumours I have to delete along with most of the lies that people post you would understand its nice for a bit of banter every now and again. The problem is people post that much rubbish that when something true happens they don't believe it. You maybe a victim of the boy that cried wolf and its a shame. I hope your Brother makes it}

Update on my info about Ward,Guthrie,Whitbread and Thomas....

My source told me today that talks between Leeds and Guthrie have broken down due to his wage demands. apparently wanting £18k a week.

Joel Ward deal is 95% done. expected to be announced in the next couple of days.

Whitbread is keen on a move to Elland Road and talks went well. no news on if Warnock had offered him on contract.

Thomas deal is not going to happen. his wage demands were too high. Source believes he wanted in excesses £12k.

Also Leeds are set to battle it out with Charlton for George Boyd. Deal was set to be complete last week before Charlton shown interest. still expected to sign for Leeds as talks with Charton broke down.

I've heard that if Snoody & Macca go we'll try very hard to bring Jordan Rhodes to Leeds no matter where Hudds are next season, But if one or both stay we won't have the money available for that kind of fee,

If Ross rejects his new deal he'll be transfer listed & the shortlist to replace him is Le Fondre, Cox or Baldock.

Id go for le fondre. As we should of done this when he was in league 2, were like a tortoise out the traps when it comes to deals. mot4life
