Leeds winger Max Gradel is attracting interest from Championship new boys West Ham.
The Ivory Coast star, who joined Leeds from Leicester in 2009, scored 18 league goals last season but could be allowed to leave Elland Road in a cut-price deal with just a year left on his contract.

---------------------------

Big sam can go **** himself. Why would he want to go to west ham? I could possibly understand a move up to the prem, but west ham? Step downwards that would be.

---------------------

He could be attracted by higher wages, west ham are coming down with a £30 mil rescue package. But having said that, in Gradel's interview after receiving player of the year he said how he wants to give something back to the club/fans after keeping the faith in him after the infamous mad moment last game in lg1. So it seems he wants to play for the shirt but money talks sometimes . . .

---------------------

KB has shown in the past that he wont sell a player on the cheap just because they're in the final year of their contract and he has already stated that none of our top players will be leaving this summer. Don't get me wrong if a big money offer came in from the prem he very well may be sold but certainly not for a cut price fee to a championship rival.

Twitter posts by Thom Kirwin (Yorkshire Radio and LUFC pundit) have confirmed the following, 100% true doesn't mean that they will actually follow through though...

1)Grayson rates Smith a 'Good player'
2)Talks have taken place at an early stage with his agent
3)SG admits that the stumbling blocks are wage and fitness related
4)he has also been in talks with 'several' other agents
5)He agrees Woodgate would be a good addition with the same limitations as Smith however no talks have taken place what so ever as of yet if not at all or ever.

Source: Thom Kirwins tweeter and Yorkshire Radio interview

My personal opinion... Sounds very good get Smith back as a Defensive Mid general who has his heart at this club, hopefully these 'other' talks may bring in the LB, CB and other CM's we need to really prove ourselves next season for at least, and that's at least a minimum of a 6th place finish! if you look at every interview SG always says 'we have a young team' so he's trying to get players in like Alan Smith and Woodgate because of their experience plus they know how big of a club leeds are and they know what our fans want so I think SG is doing the right thing and ill welcome anyone back regardless as long as they prove themselves on the pitch that's all what concerns me but I do think he should be getting in a new back 4 and stop looking at midfielder's as somehow last season we had the best attack and the worst defence.

I am a Leeds fan for 44 years and personally think a chairman and board should pick the manager and then the manager should be left to choose who he wants without interference after the budget has been agreed.I do feel with SG, he wants to do it his way, and that's how it should be.I'd also rather go up slowly in time and stay up rather than get promoted and be out of our depth.Simon Grayson will get us up for sure.Fans also forget that Ken Bates however liked or disliked saved our club.That gives him the right to be as shrewd as he wants in the transfer market.Just look at what spending erratically did for us in the past.I backed Ridsdale and O'leary in the past, but in hindsight would not have if I had known where it would have got us and known we were living on mass credit which all most obliterated Leeds as a club for good.Alan Smith also for me has had too much criticism.He gave 100% every game and was selfless in the transfer, unlike Harry Kewell. Viduka was a match winner, but walked around the pitch the last 10 minutes when we got relegated where Smith gave blood and tears for us till the death.If Grayson chooses to get Smith back, he'll have good reason and have more knowledge than all of us about the situation.Fans that slag these off need to really grow up.They all should be given a break, and as Leeds fans we should be all behind them. {Ed015's Note - good point, also i dont blame o'leary.. Ridsdale said the money was there the manager just told him who he wanted}

Noting to do with how he left its the fact that he's no good 56 goals in 226 games not a good strike rate not a hope would i want him back failed at every club ever played for.
-------/-----------------------------------
Smith put in loads of good hard work in for Leeds he defends played wide right when he needed to he not an out and out striker plus now he a midfielder. No one can slate his record with the amount work he dose. {Ed015's Note - he puts the effort in, thats one thing he brings to the team}

I'm afraid effort counts for very little in football anyone can run around like a headless chicken and make bad tackles when were losing, drawing people into believing that's passion your having a laugh. If Leeds are looking for old boys - Lee Bowyer "real effort" in every game he played but far more importantly quality and he still has it. {Ed015's Note - ild welcome them both, forget that they used to play for leeds, look at the talent side off it, they are both good hard working player}

i dont want Smith back or Woodgate, they are not the players people remember and both very injured prone

the wages they will want, would get 3 maybe 4 good championship level players who could play every game

Smith when 92 games without a goal for Newcastle and the last time he scored a league goal was Nov 19th 2005 for Man Utd. Woodgate has only played 4 times in the last 2 season and the last time he started a game was May 16th 2009

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

i also read that out new sponsor was going to be skybet until bates put the price up. apparently he wanted an extra 500k a year

to ed - what's happening re Alan Smith? {Ed015's Note - There are various rumours going around, but nothing concret just yet, Bates has said he would welcome him back if SG wants him but he will have to take a wage cut... Il'd love him back not sure how other fans would feel tho. how about yourself? would you welcome him back?}

Personally I would be jumping for joy if he came back. The people who scream 'we don't wnt him' ... are you LUFC fans or Man U haters? Any true fan would want a player like Smudge back as he will give his heart and soul to every game he plays for us. Even if he cannot play every game he will be a massive boost behind the scenes and in the dressing room. Let's not forget it was only a year ago when he was playing a big role in getting NUFC promoted to the EPL, and he can do the same for us. The guy is 30 years old, not 40, and he still has a hell of a lot to offer. The haters may be more vocal, but the majority want him back.

what a speech 100% agree. the 'fans' that dont want smith back are the bellends who get on the players back 24/7. the trouble causers. smith would improve our tea. FACT !! so y is it a bad thing if we sign him??? MOT
