7pm tomorrow 19-1-12 billy bremner statue..... Bates out! Already looks like alot will be attending..... love leeds hate bates

Believable34 Unbelievable9

Waste of time, Bates is in Monaco at the moment, better off organising it for a match day when he will be there

Agree0 Disagree0

Good that fans want him out me and my dads season tickets gone up from around 500 quid to over a grand because im doing a apprenticeship I have to pay adult prices instead of student

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates is the best thing to happen to leeds,f*** off and support another team. {Ed013's Note - a bit harsh}

Agree0 Disagree0

No no no, like I have said go to Thorpe arch, that where everyone will be not the ground. I rang up thopre arch and they basically said were in the dark over this Grayson should as well as ken bates be held responsible for this get down there or ring 01937 884400

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't mater where you protest Elland Rd is the best place, everyone can get there and the media will get involved, this will gather momentum and Bates will get to know if everyone sticks together - my sister works for the YEP ive tipped her off about a protest - who's coming..!

Agree0 Disagree0

He needs to go for someone who will actually give our club money! Bates Out!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why waste your time... It will and always will fall on deaf ears.

Don't protest... Vote with your feet like me !...

I haven't been to a game since last transfer window.

Love Leeds Hate KB #7yearsoflies

Agree0 Disagree0

An old winter quiet thursday night!!! Who's organised this, the Peacock landlord.....................

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant believe some leeds fans want us to be the championships blackburn, were you all protesting when he saved us ?do you want us to be run by another venkys?time grayson came clean and tell the fans if he has funds ?can he offer the right wages?whats he got to lose if results continue he will be sacked ,so man up grayson and say your peice!

Agree0 Disagree0

Waste of time....you have to hit bates where it hurst money....dont go to the bar, dont spend any money in the ground avoid the members bar.

Best thing i recon is to do a Man City style, turn our backs on the game and face the other way then start the chant 'what the f++k is going on'

if we all attend but turn our backs...i know we need to get behind the team, but at this rate there wont be one.

Southampton ready to bid again for Hooper £8M, when are we going to get in this game?

Agree0 Disagree0

Harvey......." my god there's a few thousand Leeds fans at bremners statue singing protest songs".....bates " ooohhh so what all those morons will still be at the game on sat and I will have their £30 in my bank account" get real he ain't Going to bat an eyelid at this. Stop paying to go to games. What's hit him the hardest is the 3 to 4 thousand fans who have stopped going every week. Morons.

Agree0 Disagree0

Waste of time boys match day better but we also need to get behind the team i agree with others do not spend a penny in or around the ground. fans sh@t on again

Agree0 Disagree0

IDIOTS- Do you want a return to the bad old days, or maybe an outfit like Blackburn have got. Anyone with an ounce of sense can see that by withholding money by not going to a match gives an even better reason not to spend money on players and if there were any new players coming I doubt they would want to come to a club where fans are so fickle they will organise a protest to get their own way- even though they are 1 point outside the play-offs. GROW UP

Agree0 Disagree0

1 point outside the play offs is fair enuf pal, but the points were gained by our team consisting of decent players, but these decnt players are slowly going to be dissapearing. the fact of the matter is that although bates DOES deserve alot of credit for saving our club, it it time to stop improving the facilities and start saving/improving our playing squad. we need to keep our best players, sell retards and buy a quality striker who can score consistently, and buy a new defence from scratch....MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

That's exactly it! Get Bates out and buy a sturdy defence! All we need is new centre backs.. (and a striker)

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's give forssell a run out get him back to his best! Matty Pattison will sign for us and St Ledger & Clingan before window closes & maybe Kris Boyd!

Believable20 Unbelievable18

Boyd is hopeless, not over keen on clingan either...got to be better out there, would need to spend a few pennies though

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we want three average league one standard players for?Do yoiu want us to go down?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agre about forssell lets give him a chance to show what he can do. pattison seems good so why not

Agree0 Disagree0

St ledger is a donkey we have enough of them!!

Agree0 Disagree0

If we sign St Ledger our defence will get worse! I'd rather Gimpel play than waste money on a useless trouble maker like St Ledger.

Agree0 Disagree0

Monty gimple signs pro deal and has been promoted to the first team.

Believable32 Unbelievable7

Source? Would be good to give the lad a go though!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its just a guess,i reckon,kb said in his interview today a younger player had agreed terms and was set to sign..(WITHIN THE CLUB)was prob one of the under 9's for 2 mars bars a week

Agree0 Disagree0

Its alex cairnes who has signed a new two year contract! just caught it on LUTV

Agree0 Disagree0

The lad doesn't even play in the reserves because he's not ready some people no nothing about the club does my head in

Agree0 Disagree0

McCormack to Wigan this week will mean Cardiff get 40% from his sell on clause - FFS we might as well give em away

In Bates I NEVER TRUST

Believable39 Unbelievable11

It's amazing how much people pay attention to rumours started by mischief makers...if Ross was there, which I doubt, then how would anyone recognise he was with his agent..did he have a badge on?

Agree0 Disagree0

You sure there sell on clause is as big as that?having said that i don't rate him at all, terrible first touch,i would personally drive him there free of charge if its true, always offside, never challenges for a header and most of the time looks uninterested

Agree0 Disagree0

This is how we got the transfer fee down from 750k to around 300k by Cardiff agreeing any sell on clause - you will find most of our purchased 1st team players have clause contracts hence the low value transfers - this is how bates rolls,

Agree0 Disagree0

Not true at all. his missus posted on twitter that he isn't leaving, but was at Citeh match to see a few mates play.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2012 20:04:01
On a brighter note rogers has received a work permit and signed a 2 and a half year deal.

Believable26 Unbelievable2

Thats made my night! watch us go now, 2nd place still in our sights!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Rogers permit request doesnt get looked at until tomorrow and then the decsion can take another 24 hours {Ed013's Note - It has been confirmed on the News Now Leeds utd website that the WP got accepted this afternoon}

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2012 22:27:16
Well peeps just to cheer you up a bit av discovered this video clip of robbie rogers on u-tube, looks a quality player, pace n neat footwork, copy and paste

www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNkdvl2oVMc&feature=related

Might be worth a few mill in a couple of years ken you sly old fox!

Agree0 Disagree0

Just watched the utube video, he did ok against very poor defending, what's he going to be like up against someone who might have played the game before

Agree0 Disagree0

A two and a half year deal ? So that means he will be sold cheap next season, Coz he`s not going to want to stay on our wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

I Hope he is as good as buck rodgers, that man saved everything!

Agree0 Disagree0

Rogers secures UK work permit

Believable22 Unbelievable3

18 Jan 2012 19:50:20
good news for us fans is Rogers secures UK work permit

Believable21 Unbelievable1

I can't see it on the Leeds website, where have you this, cause a few people have stated this.

George boyd is on the radar

Believable23 Unbelievable20

18 Jan 2012 18:21:52
the rumour is simon was close to quitting over this, he was considering his position when he first found out about this on fri, maybe that was why there was no comment from him over weekend, you really have to feel sorry for him he is been steam rollered over this, even Simon knows enough is enough believe me he is one of us,but at the end of the day he tows the line or bates will find someone who will, and why should he resign from the job he loves would you no,simon will not leave us high and dry like others have no when his backs against the wall he will stand up and fight, fight for the club he loves and the fans he loves and how do some of you repay him you should be ashamed of yourself let's get behind him he's one of us please.

Believable50 Unbelievable5

Agree totally, we should cherish him not slag him off

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry guys we are there now. Last one out turn off the lights. Bates is close to achieving his objective, to shut our beloved club down!

With this guy at the helm, how the hell will we ever get promoted. We need to stop kidding ourselves anyone of note will sign for us. Why would they want to?

Our only hope is if Bates leaves to go help Darlington! Otherwise there is more chance they will be in the Premier League long before we are!

Agree0 Disagree0

Here here my thoughts also poor simon how can he build a team when they dont wanna sign for us or they get sold leeds united football club needs your support now more than ever MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

If by THIS you mean selling the highly (over)rated Howson the only person responsible is Howson, HE has decided not to sign a new contract, HE has decided he wants to play in the premiership with or without Leeds! so don't be so quick to blame KB!

Agree0 Disagree0

What a great comment you made.more fans like us we need support grayson he is loyal and true leeds utd at heart.support him we will all get through it together.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great to read from real fans, Mr Grayson has been through the mangle in more ways than one recently, and he has shown what a true gentleman, professional, and true Leeds man he is.

I totally support him, if you are only able to pick fruit from the day olds bin, you cannot make the perfect fruit salad,

Agree0 Disagree0

I like this thread,Grayson has achieved miracles with the players he's got. I really think we will sign some real quality by the end of this week. I think the plan was to announce a major signing before the Howson news broke to soften the blow.

Agree0 Disagree0

We love you grason we do we love you grason we do, we love you grason we do, but ken bates we hate you

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure that would be true,he made the decision to keep beckford and bates has always stated the manager has final say on all transfers..incoming and outgoing

Agree0 Disagree0

Simon did resign onSaturday, Pappa Smurf refused to accept it. Stale Mate going on at mo. Think Bates want's to be seen as making the 'decision' and sacking Grayson. Watch this space. I think we should all boycott saturdays Ipswich Game and send a messgae to pappa smurf - no fans no club exec boxes

Agree0 Disagree0

The above about Mr Graysons resignation, an employer cannot refuse an employees resignation, he/she/it can only persuade them to stay, so what is the truth?

Agree0 Disagree0

Cobblers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Regarding the suggestion that KB would rather sack SG than have him quit...utter nonsense! If he quits KB doesn't have to free the moths from his wallet, if SG is sacked the club have to pay him out! {Ed013's Note - I would rather SG quit so he can spill the beans of inside the club. If he is sacked then he will be paid off and have a clause saying that he cant speak about the club}

Leeds interested in midfielder angel Roman on loan from city

Believable14 Unbelievable6

Erm.. Bates....Wages....Don't think so!
More chance of Billy Paynter getting a hat trick this weekend.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2012 17:37:16
Howson going to Norwich to follow his of playing in the prem. With the money with have we should sign sharp.

Believable25 Unbelievable7

Think we are getting 500k for him as he will go for nothing at end of the season so 500k in todays football money is nothing :(

Agree0 Disagree0

No one of note is gonna join us.. If they do, that's because Norwich are interested in signing him in a couple of years' time.
What's the answer?
Sign more wingers

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow where on earth did you get that news from !! You havent been on our official ( I mean Mr Bates') site have you ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like we will be reduced to a team full of loan signings just giving 80 % to get themselves in the shop window for other clubs to sign.
no manager can work like that so get off sg back.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2012 17:27:29
Rumour is that he is going for only £500.000. I don't really care about johny, but I am almost ashamed at the state of our club. Greatness is a distant almost forgotten past. If there is a footballing afterlife I sure know where Bates is going

Believable16 Unbelievable14

I think you read something wrong mate, I think that the deal is deffo 2 mill but it's being payed in 500k stages over a certain amount of time. Sad, sad loss though

Agree0 Disagree0

Behave, it's 2 mil, he ain't daft enough to sell for 500k!

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason Howson has left is because he has realised that we won’t get promotion this season, Johnson and Gradel knew this last season and I feel like it won’t be long before Clayton, McCormack, Becchio and Snodgrass realise. We have a worse squad than last season, I know that Howson wasn’t amazing but off the field he was great and that will have a big impact on the team. Gutted.

Agree0 Disagree0

About all we will get for him almost out of contract not signing another
would have lost him for practically
nothing in the summer

Agree0 Disagree0

If it is 500k then that is almost as poor management as him going on a free. We just let all our players walk. Cannot we not agree ANY reasonable contracts to keep players happy given the revenue of high attendances ( until this season ), commercial income, cup runs etc. We are just not competitive and its shameful. Its mismanagement.

Agree0 Disagree0

How is there blame about where Bates has got us? Since the relegation and 15 pt deduction, the club has done nothing but improved.

Criticise the lack of funding, his bizarre ways and outspoken manner, criticise the players and manager for their underperforming, but please remember where the "Greatness" went. Ridsdale and O'Leary buried us, Bates picked up the pieces. We're a different Leeds now.

Maybe it is time for a change, but where we are now, compared to where we were before he took over is a far better position.

Agree0 Disagree0

rumours that Everton and Bolton have bidded for Howson now

Believable17 Unbelievable6

Where have you heard this?

Is it Feb 1st yet?

Agree0 Disagree0

Good well done Bates you have played a blinder the lads off and you have started a bidding war. I'm happy the club is in your hands you are GOD in my eyes £2mil for an average overrated player with only 6months left on his contract and now we look like we could get more pure class Bates.

Agree0 Disagree0

With what's going on at Elland Road I thought it was April 1st.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha, good post bud its probably the same fans who were wanting him out weeks ago who are now moaning that hes going, average player who wants to leave,we get very good money, and its Bates out haha, good old Ken.

Agree0 Disagree0

Howson had medical at Norwich today and will be signed up tonight and possible make the squad for debut match on Saturday against Chelski. Snoddgrass will be a Norwich player come Next week

Agree0 Disagree0

Average player...don't make me laugh, how many games have we won since he's been out injured..erm 1...he's done all claytons running for him this season,no surprise that clayton's form has dipped dramatically since howson been out injured..

Agree0 Disagree0

Considering hes injured till march errrrrr no

Agree0 Disagree0

He has a knee injury you spanner he wont play this month

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds are looking at youngster mark simpson from Bolton. Plays up top, 17 years old. Maybe we can sell him for 2 mill in a few years time!

Believable26 Unbelievable9

18 Jan 2012 13:40:58
Simon Grayson been rumoured to be looking at Jamie Mole of Blyth Spartans.

Believable18 Unbelievable13

More likely we'll sign Adrian Mole at this rate

Agree0 Disagree0

He's looking for someone to dig us out of the hole we are in!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates will be rubbing his hands 100,000 tops
and loan of two of our youngsters should
easily seal the deal

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow. This is exciting news. The rest of the division will be trembling!

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you know I was a little bit blue today , not sure why , oh yeah our captain is leaving and then I saw this news about Jamie...fantastic news !!! Thanks for the heads up Great rumour ...fantastic just what we needed

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2012 13:40:55
Just seen on YEP that the rumours re McCormack leaving for Wigan are growing. I know it is selling another player, but if we could get 2-2.5 mill for him I would do cartwheels! He is far too inconsistent and doesn't really fit the system we play. He goes missing for long periods of every season. Sell him, get a real striker with a good goals to games ratio who plays off the last shoulder with a bit of pace.

Believable25 Unbelievable12

What would be perfect is if we sell mccormack for 2.2m then buy sharp for his 1.8m contract sorted

Agree0 Disagree0

Do cartwheels for selling our top scorer and lining bates back pocket with another 2.5 million, nice one

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be happy if he spent £10 on the team but bates thinks the stadium needs new boxes so that's not going to happen

Agree0 Disagree0

Delph, howson, gradel,Johnson,McCormack, beck ford, schmical add to these clayton, lees, white and snoddy. Got a whole team there we have or will have let go due to zero ambition......go Leeds mot! And you think this is a good thing?

Agree0 Disagree0

It doesnt matter if he doesnt fit the system we have been playing becuase that was built around howson and he is now going

Agree0 Disagree0

The yep? Not anything there, so why make it up, do you think no one else has the internet? The good thing about the Howson sale is that we won't need to sell anyone else, well we didn't have to sell Howson but he gave us no choice. Let's just wait and see what happens over the next couple of days, Howson may not go, and we may have some players in who make you realise how limited a player he is. I think he did a job for Leeds but he never really too the game by the scruff of the neck and imposed himself.

Agree0 Disagree0

You miss the point 2-2.5 mil goes straight to KB.then SG just gets money for loans to get him to end of season ,when he will then get sack for not getting promotion and we start the whole thing again next season and we will have to pay even more for the privalage of watching another 40 players we have never heard of pulling on the white.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2012 22:04:48
For the joker who accused me of making it up re McCormack/Wigan rumour.....YEP means Yorkshire Evening Post, and if you go to the section 'latest whites news' you will see the phantom article about the above. Hope that helps, but if you need more assistance here is the link -

wigan to sign mccormack and fulham to sign becchio

Believable20 Unbelievable22

Would i cry about this no just as long as we don't get keogh back

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2012 13:26:17
well it looks like we will actually be signing a brand new squad by the end of the week
mccormack
howson
white
lees
clayton
all set to leave and im sure becchio and snoddy will be just behind them

Believable21 Unbelievable18

White is the one to worry about as he can leave in the summer, although a fee will be payable due to his age.

Agree0 Disagree0

All of them are to worry about mate, we have a very flakey squad as it is without losing some of our best players. Who do you replace Howson with? anyone already good enough has been taken by other clubs willing to BUY players rather than sell and loan them.

Agree0 Disagree0

To say bates wants premiership football is a joke we cant hold onto players and he wont buy any! any money made he uses to redevelope the grounds with executive boxes and hotels etc to line his own pockets and nothing else!

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not lining his pockets, it's paying off thosee mafia type gangsters he borrowed loads of money off. He's just using OUR beloved LUFC as a means to make money for paying off HIS debts.
Once he's done that he'll leave Leeds behind him and fly off back to Monaco.

He's a parasite - no good for a club that should be at the top of English football and challenging in Europe like we used to be.

Agree0 Disagree0

Time to call it a day. Leeds are biggest joke in football. An already weak squad and we sell our best players. No longer a season ticket holder having supported the club for best part of 40 years and now no longer interested. Have enjoyed watching rugby league in recent years and also my sons amateur team. Much more honest games. Pro football dead. Sorry guys.

Agree0 Disagree0

You sir are a donkey, lees is going nowhere, same with white

Agree0 Disagree0

leeds to sign shola ameobi for 2.5 million

Believable11 Unbelievable42

Would rather wash my dad in the bath than have that donkey in a leeds shirt!

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sure hes long term injured now so doubt it

Agree0 Disagree0

Shola Ameobi you say? £2.5m you say? Spotted a couple of flaws,
1. he does not score enough goals,
2. is on a higher wage than Leeds would pay,
3. is not worth anything near £2.5m,
4. Leeds do not have that kind of money.
The only plus would be that he and Michael Brown could start a donkey ride business in Scarborough in the summer

Agree0 Disagree0

It is bad enough having a girlfriend who supports Newcastle without having that muppet at Leeds! They can't wait for him to go, he can hardly last one half let alone a full game.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2012 13:11:47
fulham to sign becchio for 2.5 mil to replace andrew johnson

Believable20 Unbelievable29

If any one offers any where near 2.5mill
we should snap there hands off

So Jonny Howson decides to chase half the dream (playing Prem Lge) instead of living the dream (playing Prem Lge with Leeds).

Let's get over it.

He's been our captain for a couple of years and is apparently Leeds through and through, and wanted to get us to Premiership.

Well, for me, he was never going to do that. He isn't good enough. I'm not saying he's a bad player, but with playing alongside Clayton he has been shown up this year. Clayton going would be the bigger worry for me. I personally like Howson as a player

He has pushed us through to good times, but was he really good enough to push us through to Prem? I think, on his day, he might have been, but out of sorts with his head turned and 6 months left on his contract? Good business if we get £2m for him, especially if it goes straight in the kitty. I don't think he's really gonna set the Prem or even Norwich alight, but he'll be solid and do a good job for them.

Good luck to the lad though, I'm one of the worst to preach about loyalty and mercenary players and the likes, but each and every man has to think about what's best for number one.

Thanks Jonny, all the very best.

Believable27 Unbelievable7

Which kitty is that? we dont have 1 all the money we have made from the sale of players has gone to lining master bates's pockets thats why we only get loan players

Agree0 Disagree0

Is that the same kitty the money for Schmeichel and Gradel went into?

Agree0 Disagree0

Shame we didn't sort out the Delph deal before this news broke as no doubt Villa will now be putting the price up!! {Ed013's Note - It will be a loan deal so Villa will benefit either way so I wouldn't expect them ripping us off. They may use this to write some of the add-ons cash that they will eventually owe us to push the deal through}

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree I'm a season ticket holder. Love Howson for his work rate and commitment. He's a solid Championship player at best and will struggle in Prem.

Clayton is the boy

I'd swap Bechio for Ameobi any day of the week

Agree0 Disagree0

God some of you so called fans are nuts.get real.
howson may struggle in prem but he was good enough to help us get there.delph was supposed to add quality to may be get us to play offs, even with both it was a dream..so we have delph instead of howson,no better off are we with quality numbers.stop slagging him off now hes gone.we are going nowhere and you know it,we all know it....shrew leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course he was good enough otherwise he would not be going to the Prem without us.. get real would you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Another very sad day for the club I love. When moving to Norwich City is viewed as a forward and progressive move it just goes to show how far from grace our club has falllen. Again he will move for next to peanuts and none of the funds raised will be given to Simon Grayson to desperately strengthen our ever weakening squad.

Just where will it end we are becoming nothing more than a nursery club spotting or developing talent then selling it on for a little profit. Our Chairman is only interested in making a quick buck and lining his own pockets he does not and repeat 'does not' have our best interests at heart and until the day he moves on this club will only continue to move in one direction BACKWARDS!

And no not being negative just realistic and understand what is happening at the club..........

Agree0 Disagree0

He hasn't gone yet. Has yet to agree terms. He could be stubborn and hold out for a move when his contract expires.

Agree0 Disagree0

He did a job for us but we can have a better replacement.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't believe people rate clayton more than howson. howson visibly lifts the team, is consistent, and quality. Clayton is good, but inconsistent and doesn't have the same prowess of howson. massive loss, but a bargain for norwich. surely we can spend this 2 mill though in transfers

Agree0 Disagree0

Ameobi you avin a laugh he is the biggest donkey since brian deane,if hes the best we can get we are doomed

Agree0 Disagree0

Its De Javu all over again! All these players who are so called Leeds fans through and through all show there true colours in the end!

If he wants to go let him go he's obviously not true to the cause of helping us reach the the glory days again.

MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Another Brian Deane idiotic comment. If you knew anything at all about football you would realise that if we had a striker with half Brian's skills we would be scoring far more goals than our present crop are doing at the moment. Remember Deane was also doing it in the 1st/Premiership not in this this division.

Agree0 Disagree0

Selling club now. Bates needs to come clean and tell the truth for once, this from a man spending £7m on a ground he doesnt own, who announces he has bought the club last yr when prem lge insisted on knowing who owns club, 3 days later! Would anyone on this site spend money on a property they rent? No! Harvey is also to blame on negotiations, lets not forget he wss involved at Bradford with Richmond. We are a big city club not a provincial town club so lets act like one, and remember its 2012 not 1982 Kenneth, wages have moved on since then, or shall we all just "Fire up the Quattro !"

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is this De Javu person? I hope he is a Dutch centre back like Robert M, he was good.
That really would be Deja vu.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jonny howson = top quality players
norwich city = what a club! buying quality young players with determination to get to the top of there game and a manager who gets the best out of them leeds loss = norwich gain. like the italian cruise captain abandon the sinking ship. good luck jonny pleasure watching you

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought he played for us already watching our defending for the past year!

Agree0 Disagree0

Right im first to admit i was on bates side saying he saved the the club and that but this is the last straw now unless bates does something big.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im shocked just how 2 faced some people are on here, Howson's off because he want premiership football, so where is the loyalty from our so called " leeds through & through captain" ? The first opportunity and he's off, yet Alan Smith, who didnt want to go but was forced out so Leeds could get the money is slaughtered by the majority on here, Smith should be welcomed back irrespective of the team he went to simply because he wants to play for the club - he will always be a better player than Howson, fact.

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys it is understandable that there is both shock and sadness among some but what I cannot comprehend is that all of a sudden everyone is slagging a player who is currently the longest serving player at Leeds off! And also that some claim Clayton is a better player than Howson! Have you not been watching Leeds' form? we started off the season reasonably well and then the minute Howson gets injured it all goes downhill, just look at our form in the last 10 or so games! He lifts the team by alone being on the pitch and he is not our best player but it is his impact that worked so well for us. In the end they are all professional footballers and Howson is reaching the top of his football in my opinion at the age of 23...think about it if you had the chance to play premiership football would you take it? Yes maybe he could have done it as a Leeds player but currently we're 11th and yes it is only half way thru but it would be a huge risk for him this might be his only chance! He served us well and I personally will never judge him for leaving. The only problem that remains is that now we will turn into a team with loaned players if Bates pockets the cash and, with Doncaster being an example of such a team, it will not work even if we did get into the prem as we would find that we would lose half our 1st XI and have not enough money to spend on new decent players. But in any case...c'mon you mighty whites!!

Well, it appears that Howson is on his way, but £2m is a bit of a snip. Have Leeds made it public to open a mini bidding war for him. If we're resigned to him leaving get every last penny we can

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Jonny has to be worth more than that, even if we kept him til his contract ran out to help us to the playoffs.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd be seriously thinking about McGugan at forrest with some of that cash. He's not happy there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Help us to the play offs you have got to be joking i dont think the squad is good enough
even before howsons departure

Agree0 Disagree0

According to the rumours, nearly all our squad is leaving.

Howson (Norwich)
Snodgrass (Newcastle)
Clayton (Bolton)
Lees (Bolton)
White (Arsenal/Bolton)
McCormack (Wigan)
Becchio (Middlesbrough)
Brown (Brighton)
Paynter (Brentford)
O'Brien (Bristol)
Bruce (Huddersfield)

Agree0 Disagree0

What does it matter what we get for him, it goes straight in bates pocket as per usual. FFS {Ed013's Note - Maybe they are going to play the youth team and use all the transfer money to build a hotel on the West stand!}

Agree0 Disagree0

£2m? With 6 months left on his contract. I dont think so. We will have accepted more in the region of £500k

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the last post, only the likes of Leeds would pay £2m for a player they can get for nought in 6 months.

As an asides, I have no love of rats, and in no way take it that I suggest that any of the players who move on are rats, but what do they do when a ship is sinking?
Yes, desert it.

The days of the one club through thick and thin career players are gone, best get used to it.

Agree0 Disagree0

"OriginalPoster" - Seems quite the week for Captains abandoning their ships doesnt it. Very Topical !

Bolton to offer 2 million plus sean davis for adam clayton.

Believable14 Unbelievable10

I'd take that. Davies is decent. Rather have Mark then sean mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently it is a done deal. Where is Snoddy going?

Agree0 Disagree0

Davis will be on 3x wages as Clayton. I can't see this happening at all. Bates won't stump up the cash.

Howson sold so surely thats another £2million into the transfer kitty? lol. bates out.
likely incoming transfers are loans and freebies.

fabian delph-loan
martin patison-free
craig jones-free
stuart parnaby-free
eric lichaj-loan

there possibilties.
hows about we go for it?
stephen gleeson 700k
harry maguire 500k
bradley wright philips 600k
ricardo vaz te £1million

there are good players availible for under a million pound. lets go find em and sign em up! MOT

Believable13 Unbelievable16

2M towards the East Stand redevopment kitty!, we are an absolute joke with no ambition whatsover!

Agree0 Disagree0

I put above, maybe McGugan at forrest would be worth a punt. probably cost more than £1m though,

Agree0 Disagree0

Ricardo Vaz Te? Seriously, he is s**t. He has had 2 good games this season...downside was they were against us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not recommend vaz te at all.

he's had a poor history with barnsly and since he's had a good streak of scoring, i don't feel he'd be a good signing.

money could go elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don,t think mr bates will spend it all half if where lucky

Agree0 Disagree0

Bradley Wright Phillips definitely a good shout. Might have to pay more than 600k plus he may not come.

Agree0 Disagree0

This Timor is rubbish 3 right backs mentioned when we need about 1 and vaz te for 1 million when he's out of contract in summer but watching qpr vs mk dons that smith did well

If Howson goes we need to sign either Clingan or Andrews. Both would suit playing alongside Clayton.

Believable18 Unbelievable5

Wow thanks ken bates almost as good as howson. Leeds have always bin in and out with the signing of Nick Montgomery although he is 30 so we would only get 2 or 3 years out of him he would be class and allow clayton to roam a bit more forward also maybe captain material since howson out and probs paddy after injury.

Sammy clingan to sign on Friday for 800k

Believable14 Unbelievable15

I hope not what a waste of money that would be.

That seems a lot of money for him. Better out there for a million pounds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sammy is doing a good job at Coventry, he would the ball mover at Leeds he loves to spray the ball - MOT

As well as Howson going Clayton is stalling on contract talks according to Sky Sports.

Believable15 Unbelievable4

So is White and without a doubt so will Snodgrass.
However we keep the dross.
I am not renewing my season ticket now.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think this just tells us the truth on the ambitions Leeds Utd. One cannot blame the players if we can see it , they can, and get more money also

Agree0 Disagree0

I've had my forms for a week and they are sat on the dining table. I was toying with the idea of not renewing, cos money is short, but as I love Leeds I thought I would wait to see if there was any movement in the transfer market, or at least some encouraging words (Truthful or not). Alas selling a bloke who would stay at the club if we had ambition has made my mind up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sad to say but inevitable given their ambition which seems far higher than Mr Bates's and the club's at the moment. Both will probably be replaced by 'frees' and loan players. Difficult to accept but that's where we are at the moment and difficult to envisage any changes ... and we are being asked to stump up season ticket money for next season by the end of the month !!
We all love Leeds.
Life long Leeds fan (50 years)

Agree0 Disagree0

This is shocking if its true.Let them leave
howson has not been great and now thinks he better than the club he loves and same for clayton.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does Howson love the club? He's delayed over contract talks in order to suit himself. Perhaps if he really loved the club he might have come-clean sooner? Not knowing whether the captain is staying or going cannot have had a stabilising influence on playing or coaching staff. Making his decision so late has de-valued him as far as we're concerned. His heart has not been with Leeds, so he has not made a sufficient contribution to give us any hope of promotion. Suits Jonny, I guess, as he's out the door, but he could have been appropriately replaced months ago if, as a Leeds fan, he'd done the right thing for the club. As well as the right thing for J Howson. Cheers Jonny. See you in the Premiership the season after next. If you're still there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Howson's a traitor. If he wants to go, let him go. We don't need people who go around preaching how their dream was "to play for the team they loved" and then leave to a crap team who paid more money.

Good riddance.

Agree0 Disagree0

At least smudger only went cos he had to,irrelevant to where he went.MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Norwich fan here, If you think Howson is a traitor, what ever you do Don't sign Clingon, He will be gone as soon as things start to go wronge look at us when we went down to Lg1 he was gone within a few days, You can't blame Howson for wanting to move, he probably don't fancy loseing a play off spot again, I firmly believe we are in this league to stay now, Lambert knows how to get the best out of players. By the way I thought you were unlucky against the Arsenal.

MOT

Believable19 Unbelievable2

So he,s gone but he got slagged off nearly every week for going missing missing during games also he would have walked at the end of the season on a free so why not cash in , he ststed that he wanted to play premership football soon what does that say about leeds chances of going up soon howson thinks not , sorry to see a good local lad go as long as we use the money wisely then so be it

How about a proper captain and a midfielder that is not out of his depth playing in a four man midfield.

No longer a rumour... Howson has been sold, awaiting personal terms... on the OS. GUTTED!

Believable16 Unbelievable3

We should not be letting young talent leave, bates has got to start paying the wages to keep them, who will be next, lees, clayton, snoddy,

Agree0 Disagree0

I clicked unbelievable. not because it isnt true. but because its unbelievable :(

Agree0 Disagree0

Just goes to prove that leeds are a spent force and will remain in the lower divisons and we need to accept we are no longer a club with ambition

Agree0 Disagree0

Why has someone clicked unbelievable, WAKE UP it's on the official site. I'm sure SG & KB talked about showing some ambition at the start of the season, I've not seen any & the situation seems to be getting worse not better.

Agree0 Disagree0

We certainly wont be seen to have ambition as long as we retain Grayson.
He is clearly not a motivator and by the looks of it all the talent want away from him. If we ain't gonna get rid of him then they are going to leave.
I know what I want...

Agree0 Disagree0

Good riddance! If he wants to "better himself" then get lost and become a nobody in a poor team. If the white shirt ain't good enough for you Jonny, then you are not good enough for it. Another ungrateful b*stard who forgets who made him and who supported him through thick and thin.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea good riddance, if your heart is not in it then !

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, how many times are you going to lose in the playoffs before you give up trying, Leeds will never be anything other than A low league club as long as Master bates is in charge, And befor you say anything Delia is not the decision maker any more she is a board member nothing more

Guys,

Heard a nasty rumour that Howson is off to Norwich for 2 million. Deal agreed, just waiting on confirmation.

Thoughts?

MOT

Believable15 Unbelievable7

It is unfortunately true according to the papers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds are becoming more and more of a selling club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds have been a selling club for years

also in the Papers today, Clayton to Bolton for 2 million

thats 4 millions towards Bates Motel!

Agree0 Disagree0

Howson is out injured till at least March. So it's just a load of BS from the most reliable paper in the UK!!

MW

Agree0 Disagree0

It all over the papers....the sun and mail i think!

He was never gonna stay so it's £2m towards the transfer fund it KB's comments are right!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I cant see this being the case. howson is out injured for a while longer yet and i very much doubt he would pass any medical?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I've just seen it on sky sports

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah it's on sky sports also say Adam clayton to bolton

Agree0 Disagree0

It is official and on the Leeds web site now, we have agreed a fee for him but the player still has to discuss terms with Norwich. Clayton is very likely to be following him out of the door according to a few reports. Something isn't right at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Been confirmed on the LUFC website. However personal terms yet to be agreed. We should not be loosing our best players to 2nd rate football clubs. Bates get the finger out for goodness sake.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Done Mr Bates, as you love selling assets, why not sell the club...to norwich?, they seem to be a good destination for Leeds Players. I can understand Jonny wanting to play in the PL but if Bates hasnt given any reassurances that he will spend, it shows that the players dont believe we will get promoted this year. Congrats Mr Bates

Agree0 Disagree0

Not just according to the papers - BBC reporting that offer has been accepted !

Agree0 Disagree0

Deal has been agreed according to Sky Sports :-(

Agree0 Disagree0

It's on the official Leeds website time for bates to f*** ruining r club

Agree0 Disagree0

Confirmed on Sky Sports News - Bid accepted - just need to agree personal terms

Agree0 Disagree0

No rumour, it is a fact. Except you are probably wrong by about £1.9m!

Agree0 Disagree0

We may as well all pack in-last one out switch off the lights.

Agree0 Disagree0

He can go, he said he wanted to play in Premier League and he didn't accept our contract offer..
good luck to him

Agree0 Disagree0

Its on the os now, he just has to agree personal terms and he's off

Agree0 Disagree0

Just go to Leedsunited.com and read it, nevermind papers., he's gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Howson is going, had a bid from norwich accepted!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its true its on the official site its a real shame that we supposedly have one of the biggest wage bills in the league yet we cant even get homegrown players to commit to the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes howson going ,clubs transfer dealings are a joke.

Agree0 Disagree0

Another case of bates offering peanuts. selling our captain when we're 'going for promotion', load of rubbish. probably get some good loans or free transfers in though... st ledger, not good enough for mid table leicester but ye we'l have him. delph rumour just another 'big name' to keep us happy for the time being which won't go through, and at transfer window closing it'l be, oh we had loads lined up but they screwed us at the last minute...more like you didnt offer them what they deserve. charge us £30+ a game to watch average championship football, crooks. actions speak louder than words, we are definately not going for promotion!

Agree0 Disagree0

Club accepted offer, awaiting to agree personal terms.
Source: Leedsunited.com

Agree0 Disagree0

He is discussing personal terms as we speak. The only problem may be the medical.

Agree0 Disagree0

Official on website. This is gonna open the door I reckon, white in same boat with 6 months left. As much as some fans criticise howson we have played crap since his injury

Agree0 Disagree0

Its on the Leeds website so I would imagine it is true. Norwich for 2 mil.

He wants to play prem league football at the earliest opportunity and has refused to sign a new contract which expires in summer.

Shame he's going but good deal under the circumstances.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's all well and good getting some money for him now with 6 months left on his contract, but the pessimist in me cant see the funds going straight back into the playing squad. Just another lost talent, comes to something when a lad who is Leeds through and through, our skipper non the less, jumps ship because he can see that the club is going nowhere under the current regime.

Agree0 Disagree0

Howsons gone. Leeds have released a statement on website.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its on the leeds page and sky sports. he's gone end off

Agree0 Disagree0

Been made official on the clubs website fellas/ladies, very disapointed that johnny has decided to play p-league football wiv Norwich, itz hard being a life long leeds fan, it just seems the club and the main men involved don't seem to have the fans interest at heart, unfortunately itz all about money. Explains the sudden rush to get midfielders in, fear that clayton n snod will follow in johnnys bootz, or well its nowt new is it? Who would want to play with a club associated wiv K/B anyway? He's a w****r Fact!

Agree0 Disagree0

Forget Bates I think this is vindication in those of us who believe Grayson's time has come. Howson has been stalling for over a year on the contract talks cos he doesn't believe the hype and doesn't believe in the manager. If he hadn't signed Rachubka then we'd have 8 more points, be in third place and that MIGHT have swayed Howson and Clayton.
Graysons fault pure and simple.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe now we will buy Keith Andrews and clingan if we got 2 mil for him . disappointing but sometimes it can work out for the best as long as bates lets the manager spend all of the money we get. if not then i see thompson moving into the midfield and connolly back at right back and settle for mid table finish .

Agree0 Disagree0

IF, and it is an IF, Bolton have made a bid for Clayton it doesn't necessarily follow that he will leave in this transfer window. Howson is out of contract in the summer and can walk away for nothing, hence a £2m deal looks sensible. But Clayton has 18 months left on his contract so the urgency to sell him isn't there (yet!).

Offer accepted with Jonny

www.leedsunited.com/news/20120118/offer-accepted-for-jonny_2247585_2580741

Agree0 Disagree0

This is graysons doing, not Bates. I personally did not want grayson out but not being able to persuade a life long leeds fan to sign a contract extension to keep him at the club is s**t. We should have the same ambition as howson, to be in the premier league, but apparently not.

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you lot class Norwich as a 2nd rate team, what league do you play in then, Norwich are far superior to you lot they showed you how to win a league in first attempt and get back to back promotions to the Premier league, i AM SO GLAD i HAVE DECIDED TO LEAVE, my injury is not what it seemed to others and will be playing come the end of January, My time in Leeds is now over, looking forward to a new life in Norwich
