Rumours have it that Scott Wootton will join Leeds from Manchester utd on tuesday for a nominal fee, David Moyes has agreed the move as he has a surplus of centre backs to call on if he needs to, what do people think? and is this guy any good? he fits Brian Mcs profile young and hungry but that is all I know of him.

Great news

All I know is young players who leave Manchester United never really make any kind of mark. And some leave for big money only to become lower league players and never step up to premier again. Who was the geezer with the goofy teeth that scored against us back in OLearys day and ended up at mk dons I think? One oof many overpriced young players who leave them and that's it! 750,000 for a reserve team player with maybe 3 full games behind him. **** I hate that club with all their arrogance and attitude. Maybe now after many years of clubs paying over the odds for their reject youngsters everyone has realised that they are not necessarily the best! let's hope BMD knows what he's doing and taking in another Manchester United reject?!

Agree1 Disagree2

If u dnt know of him how do u know he's hungry? he's useless and will not be any better than we have

Agree0 Disagree5

He's the lad that had a nightmare against Chelsea in carling cup semi last season, sold a back pass short gifted them a goal brought ramires down in box, but he's the cheapest option, plus he's from man utd so in my opinion could do better like mills from bolton.

Agree0 Disagree0

To Cork White: "Goofy" was played by LUKE CHADWICK

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I stated that I know nothing of him, but I have read reports on him that also stated that he was young and hungry and put the question to my fellow Leeds supporters to see if they could verify those reports, thanks to those that gave a serious answer I appreciate it.

Agree1 Disagree1

There are some miserable bug$#rs on here! Young, been at both MU and Liverpool, will be cheap, worth a shout methinks.

Agree3 Disagree0

A pointless signing. McDermott said he needed an experienced CB to help Lees/Pearce. This lad has played about 3 Carling Cup games

Agree0 Disagree1

Paul Pogba?

Agree0 Disagree0

Michael Keane was a CB on loan at Leicester last season from Manchester United and he was quality so not all bad players but other than Giles and Starachs we have never had a good player from there

Agree0 Disagree0

Poster 3 - I think you are thinking of Luke Chadwick, a real oil painting!

Lets give Wootton a chance before condemning him. I think he captained their reserve side, has youth on his side and BMc will bring him on leaps and bounds. IMO I think he will develop into a good player given the chance

Agree1 Disagree0

Poster 3. Negative doomer and gloomer. Forget the past and trust in BM. He's not let us down so far . CW

Agree4 Disagree0

As an Irishman Corkwhite, you should know what an utter load of rubbish you've just posted . just to refresh your memory, could I remind you that a young Irishman left MU some years ago for Leeds United and he became, and still is a "legend" . his name? Johnny Giles.

If BMcD believes he's good enough, we have to support him and give him his opportunity to follow Giles . after all, the outlay is apparently "nominal".

JDC

Agree3 Disagree1

Wasnt it no other than a young Matt mills who was plucked from obscurity at Manchester city and was later sold for £5m. CW

Agree1 Disagree0

If you end up as a reserve player at the best team in the Premiership then you can't be that bad!

Agree4 Disagree0

Young players not doing well after leaving Man U?

Paul Pogba
Ryan Shawcross
Pique
Gusseppi Rossi

all I can remember off the top of my head. All doing pretty well after leaving Man u before their 22nd birthday

The goofy geezer was chadwick "!

20 Aug 2013 09:53:29
the negativity in these replies really is sad, seems the number of miserable leeds fans is on the grow again, bet you have a secret tenner on us getting relegated don't you CORKWHITE, stick to ireland its where your best

Agree1 Disagree0

Gerard Piqué. Ryan Shawcross?
Not all young players that leave Man U make the grade. Some do.

Agree1 Disagree0

Young and seems to have some good pedigree. Its like buying a Skoda when u know it has a VW engine. If he comes at the right price he may deliver in the Championship because let's face it. if he doesn't its all downhill to the basement

Agree2 Disagree0

It seems that Wootton is the plan B in this scenario. Obiously B-McD was looking for experience, but has found that the wages/funds were not right at this time. Considering that both our fit center backs came thought the last game in the wars, we need extra numbers there. It may be plastering over the holes, but the holes need plastering. Good luck to the lad, everyone has to start somewhere even if it is at the S**m

Agree1 Disagree0

I'll chuck another couple of young players leaving Man U, done well

Robbie Savage
Keith Gillespie

Wootton would be an excellent signing for us in my opinion.

Agree2 Disagree1

Phil Bardsley another, bloke who posted the above must be feeling a bit daft now lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was their researve team player of the year last season and for a nominal fee, has to be worth a shot.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Aug 2013 14:58:15
Keith Gillespie did well after leaving m u? don't think so only people he did well for after leaving m u was Ladbrokes!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2013 15:02:55
Trust in bm he's not let us down yet? Noel hunt 12k per week unused sub!

Agree0 Disagree0

Liam Miller did ok for us (albeit on loan), David Platt. he did OK. what about DAVID HEALEY? Is the message getting through, yet?
It's incredibly difficult to come through that Man U youth system and even get to the reserve team. Getting to the first team is nigh-on impossible for the vast majority of kids churning through the Man U academy and those who make it as far as the reserves lose a lot of development time not playing competitive games, seriously hampering their progress. This is the main reason that the above poster states that most youngsters who leave Man U achieve nowt. In the vast majority of cases, this is true but, those that make the cuts as far as getting to the reserves would be the best of the bunch.
If we get him, we'll be getting a player with a bag full of potential, you can be assured of that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cork White. Call yerself "Cork" white and then says yers never seen anything by way of good young players come (our way) from United.

Now then: You might remember there was this 23 year old from Dublin who had played 93 games for United. and then transferred to us.

Probably best midfielder the club ever knew. Had a decided edge but also quick feet and floated the most poetic and accurate passes around ER and indeed any field he graced.

Johnny the Fox also had a splendid voice.

Lets make Wooton a legend.

Toronto White.

Cant believe youve all forgotten to mention that on going success story that is Danny Pugh!

Agree0 Disagree0

Echoing others, give the lad a chance and trust that Brian Mc knows what he's doing.he's unearthed gems numerous times so far and as an ex chief/head scout knows what he's looking for, he's proven it time and again! The transfer fee sounds like its nominal and I'd guess his wages will be relatively low too so it sounds like a small risk with potentially everything to gain and solves a huge problem we have which is a severe lack of depth at centre back

al1977

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant believe no one mentioned giles or even strachan haha pessimists get a grip and give the lad a chance!

Say's on tv that both clubs still talking over Mcormack hope they tell em to clear off

Believable11 Unbelievable24

McCormack is not the be all or end all. if they get good money then "thats football folks!". as long as they can get a like for like or better, then. get over it!. but there isn't much time b4 window closes, and the closer we get to the end the more expensive the replacement

Agree1 Disagree1

Comment 1 . like many others, I don't want to see McCormack leave but I can't disagree with what you say. If his sale gives BMcD the funds to bring in a CB, Wootton, a wide man or men, Tommy Rowe plus one then so be it.

JDC

Agree0 Disagree0

I really hope McCormack doesn't go as he is a brilliant creative outlet but its not just that he loves Leeds that the players we want. During the game on Saturday he lost the ball to a midfielder near their box then chased down the ball and got involved in defending. He gives 100% give me 11 players that do that then players who move for money any day.

McDermott looking at Stevenage winger filipe Morais

Believable12 Unbelievable22

I've heard this too the other day . Decent winger and has got two in two this season and 27 years old so nay a bad age .

Agree0 Disagree0

Says that on tv that two clubs in for him! If one I'd us we roll lose out to the other!

Agree0 Disagree0

And another club believed to be yeovil.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he's 27 and only playing at that level i'd worry why he's never made it at a decent level yet

Agree0 Disagree0

He's quick and tricky (last time I saw him play a few years ago). More a wing-back, I'd have said, though.

3rd bid from Middlesbrough for McCormack. Looks like GFH want the cash. There will be one hell of a backlash if they let him go. Would love Ross to turn down a move if GFH accept a bid.

Believable21 Unbelievable16

I agree, neither the manager nor player wants him to go, but looking more likely GFH are going to cash in, I expect Diouf to go as well, and think its only due to Byrams injury he is still here, if thsi is the case, its a kick in the teeth for the manager and fans, and fear fans will vote with their feet, come on GFH, show some commitment to our great club, manager and fans, we need quality brought in not let go.

Agree1 Disagree0

I really hope they are reading some of these posts, GFH that is. because i'm with you on that, there will be one hell of a backlash if RossM goes.
I don't care who they bring in or how it gets justified, you do not progress if you keep selling your best players.

This guy could play a good 3-4 seasons with us and potentiallty become a legend, I just don't understanmd why certain owners are against players stayiong along tiem at cluybs these day (out side the prem at least). He doesn't want to go and this team will be a lot weaker without him and to sell to Boro is not only stupid but short signted and will probably come back to haunt us.

Agree1 Disagree0

There will be no backlash

Agree1 Disagree1

There will be no backlash. GFH will tell Boro he can't sell a sale of Ross to the Leeds fan unless it's 2 milly which it will be and it will also be justified as the last act of financial reduction being the overhang from the Colin and Bates era. Eventually Leeds fans will understand. Dioufy will fill Ross void and we will get cover at the back and finally our pacey winger. Will miss Ross but its for good of club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ross is holding Leeds to randsom by asking for a new deal when he is only into a year of the last one . He is saying he loves the club on one hand, but is trying for more money on the other and he will go to Boro if he can't get it here .
If he goes, I can't blame the board for not being held to randsom, its Ross and his agent this time no doubt about it .
Hes my favorite player, but he's not bigger than my team .

Agree0 Disagree1

Yes there will be a backlash. You don't sell one of your best players. and to a promotion rival, especially when he wants to stay, and the manager wants him to stay. McCormack's celebration said it all on Saturday. This will be one transfer too many for a lot of fans

Agree0 Disagree0

Am I missing something? How does 'Boro making bids mean GFH want to cash in? Surely all it means is that 'Boro want to sign him, the only thing that would indicate GFH are going to 'cash in' is if they accept the offer

Agree0 Disagree0

Backlash? All it will be is half a dozen moaning on here and other forums most of which have never been to Elland Road.

Agree0 Disagree0

Remeber the old saying "be careful what you wish for". Seems the new owners are no different to the old- maybe even worse, since at least Bates only sold players who wanted to leave

Agree0 Disagree0

This has gone on now for years and attendances clearly show there are 15 to 20,000 former attendees who have turned their back on the club. So, yes there will be a backlash as those fans will not return unless the situation changes, others will join them and the non season ticket holders who occasionally attend will stop when they realise we have more chance of relegation than promotion with a second rate team.

Agree0 Disagree0

There will be no backlash at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are people slagging off GFH? There is no indication that they're going to sell Get a grip people!

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2013 19:26:14
It's looking more likely than not McCormack will be sold, he is the only asset apart from Byram that will bring decent money into the Club, problem he is the only bright Spark in the team, be like trading a Porshe in for a Reliant Robin, because I can't see us getting a better quality striker in before the transfer window closes.

a family member.

Believable3 Unbelievable23

I wouldn't be suprised if Cardiff or Palace went in for Ross offering a player in exchange with cash, Both managers been linked with Ross b4

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Conway could do a good job for you but I don't see us getting Ross back. Returning to previous clubs seldom works and he couldn't get a regular place when we were in the Championship even though most fans liked him. Unfortunately Dave Jones didn't.

bmcd is looking at sheffield united harry maguire and brentfords harley dean in case matt mills doesn't pay. Also looking into trying to convince Chris Baird to join leeds over QPR by offering guaranteed 1st team football

Believable7 Unbelievable39

Chris baird, well. he is playing in Austins position but can secondary play central defender.doubt it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yet more lower league players. Hull, Cardiff and Palace didn't get promotion that way, they signed top championship/low prem players

Agree0 Disagree0

Dean agreed a new 3yr deal before the season started and is also injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like Palace who got promoted to the Premier League and signed Dwight Gayle who just got relegated to League One. Such a stupid comment. There are great players in lower leagues, not everyone starts at the highest level. Did you complain when we signed Beckford from non league Weadstone or Becchio from Spanish lower leagues or even Snodgrass from lower Scottish leagues?

Crmd

Agree2 Disagree1

Maguire would be a good capture, big strong with the ability to improve, would rather buy him or dean from Brentford, than Matt mills.

Agree0 Disagree0

Deans just signed a new contract which is a shame as he a quality player lacks experience in championship football but decent player

Agree0 Disagree0

Palace did not go up with any quality. zaha and mile were there 2 stand out players the rest are terrible. dean is shocking. maguire is great. we wnt get any though i'm afraid. matt mills will join and not improve us in anyway

if we get 3 m £, then sell. We can get three quality players for that.

Agree3 Disagree0

Bmcd would notlet both of our most technically gifted players leave. Diouf yes

Agree1 Disagree0

All this is absolute nonsense, quiet clearly the usual rumour mill gathers pace as the transfer window closure get's nearer, McCormack ain't going anywhere. Boro 3 million, where are they getting their funds from then? 2 more signing's for us and let's keep the faith.

AA

Agree1 Disagree0

McDermott said he does not want to sell him.
McCormack has said that he does not want to leave and would prefer to sign a new contract.
If this is the noise coming from Elland Road then why would Middlesbrough decide to triple their offer?
Diouf still not fit, when he is he will be back in the mix so I don't see him leaving either

Agree1 Disagree0

3mil, think your find 2 mil may be enough to get ross if gfhc do get tempted to sell, manager wants ross to stay, as do the player himself, as usual GFHC PR is in its normal mute mode, as for diouf would not at all be surprised if he goes, be it now or next January.

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic have offered 1.8 mill for Ross.
Don't think we should sell, personally but it's not down to me.
The fact that it's an offer from a non competitor might be tempting plus it been Celtic might be good enough for Ross.
I for one will be sad to see him go.

Believable6 Unbelievable65

Might be worth noting Ross is a celtic fan.

Agree2 Disagree0

Ross won't go. If he does, where are our goals coming from?

Agree0 Disagree0

Champions League football, playing for the team you support, getting back in the Scotland squad.moving back to your homeland. errr. yes I think he'd be tempted

Agree2 Disagree0

Is it up to him?
he's still under contract

Agree0 Disagree0

To poster 3.
We cannot get 3 quality players for 3 million.
Please note a player that costs a million and is on 15K ( 3 year contract ) a week costs Leeds over 3.16 million.
Its not as easy as buying 3 players for a million.

LUFC KEK

Agree0 Disagree0

Fact of the matter is that Ross and Dioufy are the only forward players we have with creative spark and ability to change the game!

If we sell / lose both, kiss our already remote chances of playoffs goodbye, which are worth far more than a lousy few million quid.

We need to keep Ross and Diouf as a statement of intent if nothing else that we are no longer the feeder club for Top Championship /Bottom End Premier League clubs and that we are here to compete over the next season or two to reach the Premier League.

Brian will get it right and might need a season or two to get rid of Warnock's dead wood.

MOT!
