Allegedly Raphinha has two release clauses in his contract.

One is currently set at €75m (£62.7m) , while the other is €25m (£20.9m) and comes into play if Leeds are relegated to the Championship.

The second one is something I can’t fathom. It’s a give away, so why did we agree to it? Ps. I’ve read the same elsewhere.

If true makes one wonder even more re the inaction of past 2 transfer windows.

I personally can't see that as legit for the following reasons.
1.A release clause means that the club has to accept the offer if someone meets the clause amount.
2.No matter what the release clause is, a club can sell for more or less than the clause amount.

So, why would any club instil a lower clause when they could sell for less anyway?

{Ed002's Note - This seems unlikely - I will try and check. It is perfectly plausible that there is a way out for the player if Leeds were to be relegated. It is extremely rare for there to be any other release or termination clauses for players in England. It would be of no benefit to the player to sign a contract with such a high release clause in.}

a clause like that would have allowed Raph a relatively easy way out of the club if we got relegated (as he has no interest in playing in the Champ) while still allowing us to tempt him to join.

If a club offered a tenner for Raph then it's the clubs decision to accept or not no matter what the release clauses are, they are just a ticket to open negotiations with a player at the end of the day :-)
