Poleon signed 2 yr deal at Oldham now

Believable31 Unbelievable5

Good - not a top championship player so no loss

Agree1 Disagree2

I'm sorry to see the lad go, don't think he was ever given a proper chance to prove his worth

Agree7 Disagree1

Think he'll be ok in league one, good luck son

Agree1 Disagree0

Poleon, didn't have a chance. 7 starts & various subs when we're in trouble isn't a fair chance imo. The boy so wanted a proper run of games like Mowatt had & he's only mediocre imo. From what I saw he was strong & pacey with little end product but enough about him to unsettle defences & time to improve. Just remember he was only an accademy player a year or so ago. If this is the extent of the chances our academy lads get we may as well wave goodbye to Dawson, Phillips, McDaid etc etc.
some lads develop later than others & I believe Dom will do exactly that so why didn't we just loan him out ffs. We brought in Doukara who imo is very similar & not up to standard but is also older with no lufc history so why did we give up so soon. Just wrong & for people to state he's not good enough after so little chance your completely out of touch

Confirmed on BBC, Smith to Fulham for £500000. Sad to see him go. maybe for the best. Good luck but not when you're playing against us.

Believable26 Unbelievable7

Picture of him holding a Fulham shirt so definitely done now

Agree1 Disagree0

We have just sold fulham the partnership that kept us up last season. can't see that as being too smart. liked smith and think they will do well at fulham

Agree3 Disagree0

Seems cheap to me :(

Not surprised at the deal but I am with the fee if 500k is right.

Agree2 Disagree1

Totally disgusted with that, I haven't seen anything from our new batch of strikers to suggest they will do better. Smith can get you a goal when you need one and is almost impossible to beat in the air.

Agree3 Disagree1

Thought it was cheap too. Maybe MC felt sorry for fleecing Fulham earlier this summer.

I understand the sale though. Matt Smith does not fit the way we want to play. He's wonderful though for the way we actually play.

I wish him all the best, except when facing us.

Agree2 Disagree1

Best of luck to him but think 500k is way too cheap should have been 3 times

Agree2 Disagree0

Bet this deal was done at the same time as Ross went to Fulham. Ross was never worth 11 mil. Bet that price was for them both and Smith was held back until we got our strike force in place. MC 's way of softening the blow of loosing McCormick, tell the fans I got 11 mil for him.

Agree3 Disagree0

Wouldn't worry to much gives us extra space for loan player after transfer day, just hope get decent coach cross fingers

Agree1 Disagree1

I presume this means Brian McDermot will arrive as manager at Fulham soon.

Agree1 Disagree0

Sad to see Smith go as he gave us options -- but if we are not playing hoof ball there is no point in keeping him.

Agree1 Disagree1

Sad to see Smith go, but playing it on the floor won't suit Smith.

Agree2 Disagree0

Thought he would have been worth 2 million all day long.

Agree2 Disagree0

Just heard a whisper that it was 50 on top of buying his contract out which he only signed a few weeks ago and was for 3 years so maybe not as bad as first thought if it's true.

Agree0 Disagree0

I for one think it's good business we now have strikers who can play hold up the ball and have skill not just good in the air (smith) or wondering when next wage rise coming ( ross) just need rid of hunt and morrison now and the old useless midfielders then we can look forward with a bit of hope for the first time in years, please cellino get lennon or Clarke to manage / coach buy back the ground and sort the training facilities out then sit back and reap what you have sown mot mot mot

Matt Smith gone to Fulham for 500,000k

Believable18 Unbelievable6

{Ed013's Note - Poor business in my opinion}

I thought it was 5m. that is a such a poor fee

Agree3 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 23:02:54
Very poor and I think a big mistake! Just hope it does not come back to bite us!

Agree3 Disagree0

That's just made Ross and fulham's season a lot easier. Awful business.

Agree3 Disagree0

Surely he was worth more than that! Just signed new deal. Miffed.

Agree4 Disagree0

Total joke, cheap cheap cheap rather than leeds leeds leeds, a rubbish manager next with no chance of stabilising the ship. I fear for us, too much change

Agree1 Disagree2

So much for signing a new contract to put off millwall who offered £1m for him.

Not worth the paper it's written on.

Lifelongleedsfan

Agree1 Disagree0

Yea me too I agree Ed. Really sorry to see him go

Agree2 Disagree0

Wall offered 1.4 mill apprently

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree Ed, poor business indeed.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - As you know I'm not a leeds fan I just cover so as a neutral I was expecting at least £1m was going to be the deal saying that I was expecting ED 013 to buy be a pint when we met up last week so nothing is ever for sure octopus.}

For the sake of a balanced view, I never really rated him, and I for one won't miss him.
I watched him at the friendly (yes, I know!) at Walsall last year and he looked like he couldn't be bothered, which p*ssed me off a bit to be honest. He did little for the remainder of last season to un-p*ss me off. I'm not saying he's a journeyman, I just don't rate him that highly.
Just an opinion, so don't shoot me down!
Given a little time to gel, our current firepower may make people look back and say Matt who?

4-6 weeks’ time we'll be in a much stronger position. We're not going to win the league, or even get to the playoffs, but a healthy top half finish this season would do for me.

MC said 2 years to get into Prem. Given the last 10 years, I'd happily take prem in 3 years! Matt Smith was never going to get us there, sorry.

It may not have been great business for us, but I don't think it was a great purchase of Fulham either.

MOT!

Ed you got it wrong it's £800,000 plus benefits.
If he's any good it will be £4 mill at the end if the day.
Promise

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - Bloody benefits, hasn't this Country suffered enough as it is without Footballers jumping on the bandwagon, unless its benefits of another nature and then I am sure he will have an ever lasting smile on his face ;-)

Smith just called Phil Hay and he didn't want to go.
I believe it's all about balancing the books at ER

Agree0 Disagree1

I'm sure there were other strikers that we wanted to sell before smith, to balance the books but truth is no other club wants them .so we are stuck with a couple of forwards who don't seem to know where the net is

Pavoletti deal back on according to newsnow!

Believable3 Unbelievable21

01 Sep 2014 22:49:45
I was wrong. Deadline for deals between Italian clubs so could be Pavoletti. Need a new No.9 as Matt Smith to Fulham confirmed on BBC. Only £500k they say.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 22:07:46
Last hour poss deal is if Rotherham accept offer for Ben Pringle. No more from Italy as their window closed at 10pm GB time

Believable7 Unbelievable6

01 Sep 2014 22:33:59
Well rumour has it we back in for Pavoletti!

Agree1 Disagree0

Let Pringles go as they signed Becchio.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 21:50:27
Doukara has signed a permanent 3year contract so there's another space for a loan, interesting next hour!

Believable18 Unbelievable6

01 Sep 2014 20:16:08
N hunt's contract terminated and apparently signing for Huddersfield

Believable13 Unbelievable31

01 Sep 2014 20:25:52
Yes!!

Agree2 Disagree0

If you are going from what is on twitter in what I've seen the rumour was started by a fake account

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 20:43:30
It was FALSE account that Ema Guilianetti has tweeted is not him. It also said Morison had signed for Barnsley.
Real rumour that Dom Poleon to Preston initially on loan

Agree0 Disagree0

So we didn't manage to offload Hunt then. I would say his price per goal isn't great but after 20 appearances for Leeds, he still hasn't got one.

Isn't he on £30k a week.?

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 17:58:53
Montenegro signed on a 'Cellino loan' so if anybody else was to come in it would have to be permanent signing due to 5 loans in our squad

Believable20 Unbelievable6

01 Sep 2014 18:37:31
Jesus. another one. I'm getting a bit lost with all these players now. We've signed players in every position apart from left back if I'm not mistaken?

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Sep 2014 18:38:56
Is it not the case that you are restricted to 5 in the 18 man match day squad but can have others in the overall squad?

Agree2 Disagree0

Good point scoops, it's making me dizzy it's yapping that fast at least MC has kept to his word but everyone's going to have to start buying program's to to see who's who on the pitch lol nightmare after a few sherbets

Agree1 Disagree0

I think each team are only allowed 5 long term loans but they are also allowed emergency loans (28-93 days) but I'm not sure how many of those can be signed. But no more than 5 loan players can be in a match day squad. Don't quote me on that though! Haha

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Sep 2014 14:50:21
Dom Polean to Preston season loan but a permanent would be better as he's surplus to requirements.

Believable19 Unbelievable20

That'd make sense as to why Larry has been talking to MC

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 21:59:29
Dom Poleon going but both Preston and Oldham vying for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 13:07:10
It's Garcia according to five live.

Believable30 Unbelievable22

Did they say that was a definite?

Agree3 Disagree0

Would prefer Steve Clarke

Agree2 Disagree1

Garcia is going to watford, definate

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2014 12:57:11
We have missed out on Slovenian international midfielder Jasmin Kurtic who has opted to join Fiorentina according to ssn. This is first I have ever heard of him

Believable20 Unbelievable3

01 Sep 2014 10:43:14
Smith can go but it's £4 mill to buy out his contract.
Byram is more interesting and everyone has stopped talking about him.

Believable20 Unbelievable8

I have a bad feeling and I stress it's only a feeling Sam Byram will be no longer a leeds player by 23:05 pm tonight. I hope it's just wind ;/

Agree1 Disagree1

Absolutely agree Martyn.
I wonder where he will be sneaking off to tonight.

Agree1 Disagree1

My guts saying Sunderland as there looking to splash the cash but I stress one again it's only a gut feeling and it could be that kebab from last night causing it ;)

Agree1 Disagree1

Whitey who was the other team that was after him because if I recall there was 2 teams chasing him.

Agree1 Disagree0

Byram is good but not great, I think we have lost a lot of better players in recent years and no replacements, least MC is putting monney where mouth is. If he stays great, if he goes for a good fee we will still survive MOT either way so I wouldn't lose too much sleep over a average/good player when we have good players coming in

Agree2 Disagree1

It was Southampton who bid on Byram

Agree1 Disagree0

Liverpool have been sniffing around as well

Agree1 Disagree0

ssn saying the both Oscar Garcia and Simon Grayson are in talks with Leeds for the vacant managers job.
Both great candidates, Grayson didn't deserve to be sacked last time and Oscar did very well with Brighton last season

Believable16 Unbelievable14

Would like either, Grayson worked under Bates any half decent player sold .
Garcia did well at Brighton may be an advantage with the young Italians in squad

Agree1 Disagree0

On San Grayson has ruled himself out and Garcia in talks with Watford

Agree1 Disagree0

Grayson has ruled himself out while garcia in talks with watford

Agree1 Disagree0

What about Sannino, late of the Watford job? He resigned today, maybe MC has "had a word" ;)

Agree1 Disagree0

I would liked either of them, my sources (of palace and orient) have both said it looks like the watford boss will becoming to leeds. Is he any good? must be ok as watford ain't doing bad I guess. if the next boss is half a great as the wonderful Hock we will do well
