All over twitter that a deal has been sorted with David haigh and co. No Italians involved!

Believable3 Unbelievable28

When you say "all over twitter" what do you mean? As I can't see anything other than this Italian rumour!

Phil hay says, he has asked the club and no shares have been sold to cellino tonight!

Believable23 Unbelievable9

No smoke without fire.

Agree2 Disagree1

He also says that Haigh & Flowers have met with Cellino but nothing agreed. How does he know and why is this information coming out minute by minute as if he is in regular contact with some one? Bit strange!

Agree2 Disagree0

Doesn't mean they haven't agreed to sell though!

Agree1 Disagree0

I can hardly contain my excitement! We're about to get an Italian Ken Bates - the younger, dafter brother of Silvio Berlusconi! Happy days!

Agree3 Disagree1

Will someone please tell us what the hell is going on? Italian press saying deal done!

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Jan 2014 22:32:24
Please be true

Agree2 Disagree1

But Haigh and Flowers have met Cellino for talks according to Phil Hay

Agree1 Disagree1

Why would Haigh and Flowers meet him? They don't own Leeds, GFH do.

David haigh, Peter virdee, Andrew flowers and massimo cellino the reason for the last one is this guy has been mentioned last minuite he has not had time to do due dilligence he has to be part of the haigh consortium for that reason plus haighs consortium is also given exclusivity period meaning no one elses offer can be accepted

Believable23 Unbelievable17

It has been clearly reported in Italy that leeds has been acquired by massimo. Within the last 10 minutes announce on Italian tv.

Agree2 Disagree2

Done deal

Agree0 Disagree3

Sole buy out. No David haigh and co.

From La Gazzetta Dello Sport - doesn't translate very well but you get the gist

Cagliari, Cellino bought Leeds United in England

Milan, January 22, 2014

The President of the Cagliari - after the failed assault at West Ham in 2010 - managed to climb a club across the Channel
Massimo Cellino, president of Cagliari. Handle
Massimo Cellino, president of Cagliari. Handle
Massimo Cellino and English football: the love back. The President of Cagliari bought Leeds United, the club of the British Championship. A negotiation conducted in great secrecy in recent weeks-axis Sardinia England, first by Italian intermediaries, then with a lunge decided by the number one for the Sardinians.

NEGOTIATION - Last Sunday the deal seemed almost done, then problems arose on the assessment of the club and the signatures were postponed. But the deal was called this afternoon, when in England there was the new thrust of Cellino. The goal is then cut. Trivia: Leeds is the technical sponsor of the Italian Macron. The majority shareholder of Leeds is the GFH capital (Gulf Finance House), a consortium based in Bahrain which also includes the main sponsor, who has sold 75% of the shares. A complex business where the end is full of suspense.

OLD BALL - Interest in England is certainly not new: in fact, a few years ago was not an unsuccessful attempt to acquire his West Ham. Everything seemed to be done, but then the deal fell through and Cellino had to endure the jeers and insults of the British press that attacked him harshly for trying to climb on the Hammers. Now, new ambitions, with voices that have chased interest for Reading and Middlesbrough.

Agree0 Disagree0

What the @@@@ is going on, club sold to a nutter.

Agree1 Disagree0

On news now the eyetie completed the deal on the plus side he won't want to stay in the championship he will want into prem

Agree0 Disagree0

Another nutter, but this one is richer than Berlusconi apparently.

Agree0 Disagree0

I quess he can't be worse than BATES, can he?

Agree0 Disagree1

Popey and Phil H have been in contact with the club who are stating Cellino has NOT purchased ANY shares in LUFC. via Tw*tter

Agree0 Disagree0

Happy days, bring on the nutter with wads of cash
Let's buy Messi

Agree0 Disagree0

He's owned Caligari for 20 years apparently, and he's sacked 36 managers! They are currently without a ground, haven't won for at least 5 games and are plummeting down the table. Plus he has convictions for fraud. I didn't think we could find anyone worse than Bates but I think this guy! At least Bates was clever enough not to get caught.

Agree1 Disagree0

"I quess he can't be worse than BATES, can he?" ---- 'BATES' as you call him is the reason we are even an existing club today.

Agree0 Disagree0

This Italian has been done for fraud. He hasn't suddenly bought Leeds Utd.

i know its a long shot with this italian guy but one bookie is offering odds on next permanent manager. zola is 10/1 fav. saying that might be worth a few quid

Gazette sport confirms leeds buyout

Believable11 Unbelievable17

22 Jan 2014 20:24:51
A rough translation from the gazette della sport does state secret negotiations over the weekend and that the club has been sold.

I guess until it's announced on the stock market or on the OS it's a rumour, but have to say its very bizarre

Agree3 Disagree0

His biography has very interesting reading at the bottom, he has had numerous attempts to buy english clubs and failed .look
for yourselves

Cellino has acquired a 75% stake in leeds! Done deal to be announced tonight!

Believable15 Unbelievable15

{Ed013's Note - This is all over the Italian press, but nothing here. Very strange, but time will tell}

How much this guy worth and do calgari have any good players to give us

Agree1 Disagree0

Is cellino part of the consortium?

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jan 2014 20:30:58
By all accounts worth £800m

Agree0 Disagree1

He's not worth much, 300m tops, surprised he passed football league, last year he was up at court for I think it was fraud, I might be wrong, but he was certainly up at court.

Agree1 Disagree1

23 Jan 2014 09:12:11
how many Calgari players are we allowed on loan
we can do a watford haha
oh no wait didn't FL block this after watford had 10-11 players on loan
Just our luck

Agree0 Disagree0

But we could get players from them on frees if there's any decent players worth having

Agree0 Disagree0

We couldn't transfer them on a free. It'd be a 'nominal' fee as the contract would still be a transferred asset from another team. That could be as low as £1.
I, for one, would not be so very interested in seeing a bunch of Serie A no-marks decamping en masse for Elland Road.
Just waiting for the news we've been waiting 12 years to hear. who owns LUFC this week?

This article below has just been reported 10 mins ago in Italy

The President of Cagliari tip for the second time an English club in 2010 after he failed to buy West Ham. For the closure of the negotiation is a matter of hours.

Massimo Cellino will try again. The president of Cagliari, in fact, is ready to launch an attack to buy the Championship club Leeds United in 2010 after he had tried in vain to buy West Ham, with the deal that vanished at the last.

The agreement was in fact already been found last Sunday until problems have arisen related to the valuation of the company that, in fact, have prevented the closing of the deal. Now it seems that the solution is at hand.

First, however, need the fax from England to confirm the handover. With the hope that does not happen again what happened four years ago when Cellino was not only empty-handed but also had to endure criticism from perfidious Albion

Believable7 Unbelievable16

So this this mean that he wants to takeover leeds now and the other deal is off?

Agree2 Disagree1

I think this Cagliari guy put in a last ditch attempt to get us and GFH have had a listen.

I got laughed at when I suggested this Italian bloke was interested, saw it on newsnow a few days ago. Only took him 2/3 days if true

Agree1 Disagree1

One of my concerns about this chap is his history of being involved in Fraud would he pass the new fit and proper tests by the Football League to be the owner/chairman

Agree1 Disagree1

The last 2 lines of the report from Italy are interesting. They fit in with what has happened between Sports Capital and GFH as if this Cellino was part of the Sports Capital consortium. Rather than being opposition to Sports Capital could he be one of them? That would explain why FL approval took a while and perhaps now GFH have found out about his involvement they are raising queries? Just a suggestion.

Billy Sharp returns to Doncaster till end of season i"m I missing something here why on earth don"t we ever go for players of that calibre Doncaster now has more pulling power.

Believable22 Unbelievable4

Sharpe would never come to leeds
You can take a horse to water but you can't make it . we want players to play for leeds not for MONEY. mot.

Agree2 Disagree1

That was his club before Southampton signed him may mean something to him to be fair. Iv also heard on here multiple times he hates leeds? Is that true? Not too fussed regardless there's plenty more out there that would snap your hand of for a leeds contract.

Agree1 Disagree1

He's a Doncaster lad, it's where he made his name!

Agree1 Disagree1

Hates Leeds so would never sign for us. McDermott said he would have signed blackstock if he'd have stayed fit so it's a safe bet that he's looking for a player in similar mould

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jan 2014 20:45:05
Did you mean you can take a horse to water but a Leeds player must be Leeds?

Agree1 Disagree0

Has Billy Sharpe really been a success? Is he the calibre of player we want? He has had spells at Southampton, Reading and Notts Forest. Not impressed enough for any of them to want him and ends up back where he started. Classic case of over rated?

Agree1 Disagree1

Cus he went to donny that makes them have more pulling power? we were never interested so don't know how you work that out

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jan 2014 10:40:30
Says in gazzeto della sport that massimo cellino continuing talks of takeover of leeds utd

the jyg

Believable37 Unbelievable17

He is more dodgey, than Papa Smurf!

Agree1 Disagree1

If you read the articles most of them refer back to the Daily Mail breaking the story, I am sure we all know how much that paper hate Leeds?

Agree1 Disagree0

A quick 'google' of this guy doesn't fill me with confidence. has been arrested for dodgy dealings and goes through managers like water. please tell me he doesn't have a little white beard!

There does seem to be a lot of media to back up the rumour though. Could be the reason the TO has suddenly stalled

Agree1 Disagree1

If GFH have broken period of exclusivity and are in discussions with another party then not only have they shown they cannot be trusted but would be open to legal action. Not sure they wouldn't do it though!

Agree1 Disagree0

Let's try to keep calm and carry on, david haigh and his consortium can sort this out, MOT (fingers crossed ).

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Jan 2014 15:48:38
Rather than tweeting "big news" this week we need Beeston Dave to come out with some concrete news to confirm once and for all what is happening.

I see we are being linked with Matty Fryatt. I would take him straight away, he could be very good for us. Excellent at championship level

Believable38 Unbelievable14

Funny though how Matt Fryatt is suddenly worth £1.2m now there are 5 Clubs involved when previously it was a loan deal being discussed. Is he worth £1.2m at moment based on his recent form?

Agree2 Disagree0

Truth is Leeds accounts are a mess we r not in for anyone, saying dioyf can go is stupid

Agree0 Disagree2

As I have stated earlier if we go for Fryatt that would indeed be the last straw. He is Too old and too sick. The only benefit would be that he would fit in well with the other deadbeats BMD has brought in. Leeds since '54

Agree2 Disagree3

Agree with above, Fryatt is as bad as signing Lita or Moore.

Agree1 Disagree2

Too old? He is 27. Sick? What's wrong with him then? He has been on loan at Wednesday and scored 4 goals in 9 games.

Agree2 Disagree1

Plays a few games then out injured. that's why he at Wednesday. At his best (he's a has been) I would agree with you but since his achilles injury he's not been the same. Players don't usually fully recover from that type of injury. 28 in March but a lot older in physical terms. I bet Michael Brown would see him off fitness wise.

Agree0 Disagree1

Haha to old have a day of will you he's a proven goal scorer at this level what more do some fans want never happy

Agree1 Disagree0

I see Lita's scored a lot of goal's wherever he's been not! Luke Moore what a waste of time, Matt Fryatt anytime before those two!

AA

Agree1 Disagree1

Typical! He's absolute shxt . No better than what we already have . more dead wood to get rid off .

Agree0 Disagree0

Fryatt actually did quite well at Sheff Wed according to a friend who is a fan. Only reason his loan wasn't extended is that Hull wanted cover over the christmas period. Now Hull have bought in two new strikers Sheff Wed have first refusal for him, probably on a loan till the end of the season with a view to buy in the summer.
