So a number of places reporting we are stepping up our interest in 22yr old 6'5" Uruguayan striker Avenatti, offer potentially already made. Supposedly he is available for around 4m Euro (£2.8m). Now I know Rosler has made Sharp, Morison and Ajose available to clubs but it seems a big outlay when we still need a winger or two and have turned down moves for them due to transfer fee demands way lower than this one.
A Wood, Avenatti, Erwin front three would certainly give us height and power, maybe we are going for a battering ram approach? Lol.

i don't get this we need a winger? says who? we may play 4-3-3 like chealsea who have no wingers. we need pace but we have good midfield and good forward line. we need a centre back and anything else is a bonus. do you remember the nick name of sargent wilko's championship winning team. the wingless wonders. Love to see that again

Bermo, speed and strach were our wingers. They frequently cut inside but they were wingers. Speed eventually moved inside and ron Atkinson once said Gordon was the best winger in the world

Chelski play 4-2-3-1 with Hazard and Willian out wide as wingers(have also had Schurrle, Salah, Cuadrado, Moses, Ramirez over the last few seasons). Same as what George said they tend to play cut inside wingers with rampaging fullbacks keeping the width when they do. We could do this with Byram and Taylor bombing down the outside of Antenucci and Doukara maybe but its asking two young lads to cover a lot of ground in a game, would be burned out by mid season. also without the bank of two holding mids (A La Matic & Fabegas) to stop counters I think we would concede a lot on the break. doesn't really work in a 4-3-3.

12 goals from 52 appearances, this fella has a lower strike rate that antenucci. Is he REALLY going to make a difference?

Isn't this rumour out of date? I thought we were only looking at him when it was thought that Chris Wood was going to Wolves.

i would argue hazard and willian and not wingers certainly not in the traditional sense that people are crying out for here. Also wilko's team was called the wingless wonders and it even mentions it on an old season review. Yes speed and starchan played out wide but again I do not think they were traditional wingers (maybe speed was when younger but certainly become centre mid) so you could argue we had a very narrow wingless team, also city do not really play with wingers, for some teams wingers area thing of the past. that said I still think nothing can beat a maroading winger but this is not trendy at the moment

Chelsea play 4 3 3 with quality left and right midfield player's they also have attacking full back who can cross a ball.

Why are we comparing to the current champions of England? Surely we should be more concerned if we're good enough to play like Derby or qpr this season

As far as I can tell Hesslian its up to date. The links before Wood came in never said we had made a bid the current ones suggest we have made an offer on the back of a move to Cagliari falling through.
Hasnt got the best strike rate but he is only 22-23. Smith came in at a similar age with a lower strike rate and ended up doing ok for us. Villa and wolves looking too so obviously scouts are seeing something in him.
