Brian McDermott watched Matty Fryatt tonight in Hull's cup game. He is available for loan but wages may be an issue.

Hope not. Was at the city game last night. He has seen his best days. Past it now. Has been rubbish for city for the last two seasons. Need a young premiership player.

I think the biggest issue is not wages but the fact he is injury prone and not that good.
Agree1

He's a great player if he can stay injury free.

100% becchio is coming back to Leeds on loan then permanent when window opens been told this off a good pal of Ross McCormack
Believable16
Unbelievable49
Right, I imagine a good pal of Ross McCormack would be privy to all of Leeds transfer dealings.
Agree4

I see the 'it's definitely ALF' comments have turned to 'it's definitely Becchio' since McD said it was a Premier League striker. Sigh.

I hope not he took the money and ran to the rest of his greedy Norwich friends, let him rot in the reserves.

Alright guys just heard from a reliable sauce close to aidy white that becchio will be returning on loan until January will be announced Thursday morning, no news on david Bentley though, Tom carvill

Shame, I have just paid for a memorial "bench" with his name on it to be placed in the Norwich dugout facing the six yard box. Becchio in the six yard box is my most fondest memory of him at Leeds.

The grass is not always greener on the other side. Personally he walked out on Leeds. I am not bothered what people say that he had to go for the money and at his stage of his career etc. Footballers are well paid and should show a bit of loyalty. Leeds signed him when nobody had really heard of him and we gave him a chance. I think he did really well for Leeds but to go back having left as he did I am not sure. There are better forwards out there. We won't get Long from WBA and I doubt we will get ALF from Reading. Maybe we could ask Norwich to take back Morrison!!!

We don't need Bentley as MCD says we have cover in that area

What's the point, we have no wingers.

We have no less wingers than when Becchio was here and he still managed 16 goals up to January!

He's not coming back thank god, greedy man who messed his career up. Serves him right

On tv website, BMD has scotched the rumours about David Bentley, he won't be joining LUFC. Says Diouf and McCormack similar players and he doesn't want too many players who play in the same way and position. The search goes on. MOT Ron.

i don't understand mcdermott saying rm and ehd are similar to bentley, he is an out and out winger, they're not.!
Agree0
Disagree0
Now I will prob be disagreed with on this, ALOT. However I have to say that I think Brian is totally wrong on this. Yes we have EHD & RM, but EHD is getting old & RM is just in the same league quality wise as Bentley!
We are lacking any creative spark and quality final ball, Bentley would give us this, prob more than other player on a free or that we could get on loan.
Yes he hasn't played for a while, but he has been keeping himself fit!
For me getting him (if we money allows) is a non-brainer! A forward line of EHD, RM & DB in this league would be outstanding and the envy of almost all the teams outside the Prem &maybe one or two in it!
Watch him go to QPR, tear the league up!
Oh well, the idea was nice to have DB, even for a day!
Agree2
Disagree0
Bentley is seen as an attacking mid, which is why BMD doesn't want to bring him in. The days are gone where he plays on the Wing.
Not saying he would not be able to but he hasn't done in the last few years.
Plus it he may be better than EHD and as good as RM, but he would alos commamnd high wages. So I guess it doesn't make financial sense to sign him. If Diouf left, then yes.
I would prefer we secure a striker fisrt then look at the rest of the team. We have had close to 70 shots on goal in the last 4 games, that's circa 17ish a game.
I think his formation and tactics are fine, just needs to convert chances to goals.

looks like we won't be signing anybody from mcd comments. looks like we are waiting for the 5 strikers in team to catch fire (hunt, varney, ross mc, poleon, smith) after comments on Saturday thought we were going to get someone else in but as usual its a let down

Shane long not alf
Agree0

Forget Alf you won't get him. Shane Long used to lodge with McDermott when Reading first signed him from Cork, they're very good friends. Would be an excellent signing for Leeds also I wouldn't be surprised if Doyle finds his way over to you guys. Good luck Leeds.

As much as I think there is a strong chance of us signing him, I have read that article and it's basically rumours and speculation no direct quotes from him or anything, and then they start waffling on about Newcastle, awful awful newspaper. On a brighter note I hope it's true.
Agree0

Would much rather see us go in for albrighton from villa he's the sort of winger we need pacey unlike bentley
Agree0

BMD has said that Bentley is a good player but, in his words, already has McCormack and Diuof who are similar players. Personally don't agree with him and think bringing in Bentley would allow McCormack to play as out and out striker, at the end of the day he scored a hat full the other season but reading what BMD says on official website think he's Bentleys a non starter
Agree1
Disagree0
Yeah don't agree with that as even ehd and Ross aren't similar players to start with. Looks like he's just not McDermotts type of player and he's just playing down the rumour gently. Looks positive in the sense that somebody is going to be brought in though so looking forward to seeing who it is.
