Feel free to shoot me down for these thoughts, but, I can't help but feel that there has been a hell of a lot of work going on under the radar since January, when AR first came in. Many were critical of our lack of activity in January, but I believe Radz was planning for this season, not last.

That he wanted Monk out, that he had already lined up the top guys that now lead from the front of our club, and also set the right people to go on and negotiate the repurchase of ER. All of these things don't suddenly fall into place in a few weeks. Plus, the potential signings coming in the next 7 days! I'm always the optimist, but I really think this is a new dawn.

Rad was actually in and around the club since last summer, guessing that's why the summer window had a lot of deals on the DL and Monk lasted past his first 6 games. Think the lack of Jan activity was as much Mass didn't want to put money into a club he was selling and Rad didn't want to pay for players that got us up then have to shell out more for the other 50%.

Reports starting to pop up that Alioski has agreed terms. Elland Rd and a 17 goal winger in 1 day? Rad is really stepping up!

28 Jun 2017 22:12:32
I reckon he's probably been stepping up since the first day he walked through the door. we just ain't seen it, because it's been about the leadership team, the infrastructure, and the future. We might yet have a gem. I hope.

Monkey man must be kicking himself as to what is going on at Elland Road and I do believe that Radz didn't really want him there as he was unhappy at our bad run towards the end of last season.

i'm actually from near Darlington and I have quite a few contacts around the area who work at The Riverside and the word is Monk told them that he wants to manage in the Premiership again but it would take a long time with Leeds so he went for Boro as he stated he had a better chance with them, and a lot of Boro supporters are not happy with him being appointed as they were hoping to get Marco Silva!

Tough at the top Monkey Boy and you won't be there! The grass is not always greener at The Riverside!

He's at a better club, Middlesbrough are reasonable with there managers if he don't get promoted with boro in the first season he will get another season where with Leeds you get 3 months n your get the sack with a bad name. He got Leeds from 15th to 7th n people still say he wasn't good enough lol I'd say that was very good from someone with very little management experience. Love the fact you say you have contacts lol you know as little as anyone else.

29 Jun 2017 02:17:50
All I'm saying is it's a fact Leeds wanted him to stay and it's also a fact monk chose to leave so there is no point thinking we have got 1 over monk as he had the chance to stay but chose to move to a team who he thinks have more of a chance of promotion. Love Leeds but the fans are deluded.

Agree1 Disagree7

29 Jun 2017 05:39:34
Swadlad says Leeds fans are deluded because we have an opinion about Monk? Did you see many games last season? I can probably count six really good games where we played great and win but unfortunately that was it, we were lucky in a lot to get a result and a lot of the games we played were terrible absolute dross! Monk had no plan B and I will give him credit he gave us something to cheer about after December as usually the season is over for us by then, but if you think we would of progressed further under Monk then you are deluded and Radz would agree. Monk suits Middlesbrough as they are a boring watch and Radz saw that, Monk saw an opportunity when 3 prem teams were without a Manager, how would you feel if you were a Boro fan and he chose your club cause all the others didn't want him, there was only Sunderland left. We are Leeds and we are proud, you can't rain on our parade and we are not DELUDED unlike some!

Agree3 Disagree4

29 Jun 2017 09:09:10
None of what you just said made any sense atall. If radz saw that monk wasn't good enough don't think he would have offered him a new contract do you? Lol. I'm not saying monk was a great manager but love the fact people are now hyping up our new manager who when he was named hardly anyone knew who he was lol, says all you need to know about Leeds, get a fairly unknown manager in and expect miracles. You don't get into the premiership by playing boring football btw. When was the last time Leeds played attractive football? It's been years I'm afraid. I can accept opinions on monk trust me I have a lot on him which ain't good but what your saying isn't a opinion. Radz offered him a new contract and monk chose to leave for a team with bigger expectations and we got a unknown untested manager.

Agree3 Disagree7

29 Jun 2017 14:07:16
Swad - you're making it out as though Monk was like the Messiah! Granted he improved us from where we have been and I'm thankful for that. However, towards the end of last season (when we flopped) we had no plan B and got played off the park by every team we played. Wolves, for example, absolutely dominated us from start to finish and went to show that teams had figured us out. If you went to any games last year I think you'd retract your 'deluded' comment pretty quickly. I don't think Monk was Radz first choice and on the surface it appears as though he went along with the fan's wish to offer him a new contract. Monk was living in a lodge at a hotel in Harrogate (a friend of mine works there hence why I know) for at least two months before the end of the season. His head was definitely turned by Boro and probably made that clear to Radz about not signing. Radz was in a win/win situation in a way (offer him a deal and it looks like Monk is the bad guy kinda thing) but I don't think he was disappointed that he didn't sign either. If he really wanted him to stay why not offer him a long term deal! ? I would have liked Monk to have stayed but at the same time it's important we back our new manager and get behind Radz who is delivering on his promises so far. Finally, I think it's rich for people like you to state on here that Boro are a better club. For the last few years they've been run better, granted, but a club is much more than that (fans etc) . You're probably, like Hardy, one of the small minority who thinks Charlie Taylor was right to refuse to play.

Agree8 Disagree2

29 Jun 2017 15:32:01
I might be the small minority I don't say I'm not and yes I do believe Charlie Taylor was right to refuse to play, if you want to leave a football team quick then going by history that's the way you do it, you can't for 1 minute seriously think any player currently playing for Leeds would turn down another club offering more money and higher level football. Boro in my opinion are a better club but Leeds are a bigger club. I went to most games last season and I'm not saying monk was great atall I'm saying it's funny how Leeds fans think monk has made a mistake on leaving Leeds when he's gone to a much more steady club who will back him with more money than at Leeds and il stand by my comment about Leeds fans being deluded because they are, obviously not every Leeds fan but most are, when the new manager was announced I remember seeing on here posts saying who is he lol which was my excact thoughts at the time n then I checked his Wikipedia page and was so disappointed at why we would think he's going to get Leeds promoted. Look at the players we are trying to get the guy who scored 17 and set up 14 in 1 season sorry but he's 25 and other than the past season he's been dire at best. If you want promotion you need better simple as that. Look at Newcastle for instance with Matt Ritchie who has far more vision than Leeds have had in midfield in years. Where is the player with that kind of vision at Leeds? No we have Hadi bloody sakho who runs and doesn't stop to think of crossing or passing, only players at Leeds I rate are Chris wood who il be very surprised if he stays because he deserves to be playing higher level football and Kyle Bartley who we no longer have. Green, Pontus, veira, berardi, ayling and bridcutt are all good enough but the rest are average at best.

Agree2 Disagree6

29 Jun 2017 15:51:51
The way Charlie Taylor conducted himself when he was still contracted was disgraceful. If he was selected to play he should have done so and I'm sure a lot of Leeds fans (myself included) would have wished him luck. I think it's unfair to criticise signings when they haven't even walked through the door/played for us yet. We're actually looking to make signings and you're being critical so I don't understand where you're coming from! ? Newcastle had a Premier League squad hence why they went straight back up (with a Champions League winning manager) so of course they're going to have better players overall. Just because you've not heard of signings/the manager doesn't automatically mean that they're not going to do a good job. I'm sure a lot of people had money on Huddersfield to go down with a relative unknown manager and squad and look what happened there! I'd never heard of Berardi or Jansson prior to them signing but they've been fantastic since they've been here. To add to that (& I'm not making the comparison) N'Golo Kante was 24 when he signed for Leicester. So your argument, which seems to be that 25 is too old to start producing top form, isn't exactly bulletproof. All I'm saying is to try and be a bit more positive about things.

Nice one Matt and to be honest mate I mean thinking your banging your head against a brick wall with Swadlad. We know what we are like as Leeds supporters any signings and change of Manager, new season lots of hype loads of good talk we all get excited and optimistic even more do this season coming so if that means we are deluded then so be it I must be deluded then every season. Boro have years of stability we are just starting our years of stability but to say they are a better team a better club is not good especially when it comes from a Leeds supporter. Maybe when the fixture arrives at Elland Road Swadlad should go and sit in the away end with the huge folllowing of Boro fans, we are on the way back and like it or not Swadlad we are enjoying our new regime just like we should! Well put mikewoody. Listening to the waffle coming out of Swadlads mouth I'd have him down as a Wendy's fan just been childish wouldn't be the first time. 29 Jun 2017 18:55:48
No I'm not saying 25 is to old to start producing top form I'm saying after 1 great season no player should be signed based on 1 season. Look at his record for other seasons it's laughable. Why would Charlie Taylor care about what Leeds fans thought of him now? He wanted out so the best way is to refuse to play and he did.

Yes they are looking to sign players but instead of being happy with any old drivel you should be asking why they are interested in average players. Berardi was a well known player before he signed with Leeds. Kante was a very good player before he moved to Leicester, you can't judge him the same as his job isn't to get goals it's to defend which he does better than anyone iv watched.

And in my reply to mike, I'm glad your happy, i however am not because I pay to watch Leeds and I'm sick of the same old crap. You have your opinion and I have mine isn't that what this site is for? Or is it to kiss everyone's ass and not have your own opinion? Humm

Well put Martyn, Monk did do a good job for us but if Radz really wanted him to stay he would of offered a three to five year contract but it is a two way street and two sides to every story but Swad seems to really dislike our optimism! I hate the fact he says Boro are a better club than ours and our supporters are deluded! like our song says Ups and Downs we are always there, whenever I come back from the match I can't speak cause my throat hurts from singing and shouting that's because we are passionate and in truth no one on here has said TC is better than Monk but we are Leeds and optimism is for forever eternal when your blood is White yellow and Blue! Come on Swad give us a break we have waited so long for someone like Radz who believes in us enough to make good business in and out of the team, just like Chelsea had with Abramovich and Everton are having investment, this is our time to be happy and we can look forward to good times! Come on you whites, MOT.

I would imagine buying the club in that way does not eat into the leeds budget and then mean we have next to nothing to spend on players . Also this means that investment can be used in the ground and on the academy.

German media reporting that we have agreed to pay 500 euros for Felix Wiedwald - likely to be backup as a good shot stopper but lacking in other areas and conceded the most goals in the Bundesliga last year which is somewhat alarming. of course, this can depend on who is in front of the keeper also.

The latest news of mid week: FROM I understand saiz is all but done, a real talent, fee reportedly £3.1m. Alioski has gone quiet, there were rumours linking him with fiorentina late last week, this may Have cost us? Felix Wiedewald is a new one. Goalkeeper from werder bremen in bundesliga. SImilar level to green with space to grow at 27. 500K fee agreed allegedly. Mario Pasalic the latest. Only a loan signing from Chelsea but previously at AC Milan and wanted by Valencia, could be a talent for us if we get him in. Plays attacking midfield or on the wing Durnisi from the Spanish first division is a left back we're looking at to replace Taylor. Highly rated and potentially expensive at £5m. Wanted by Liverpool but he may choose us for game time? Who knows. THE thing I like about it all most is that there is ambition in the signings and we aren't selling to be able to fund purchase. This to me suggests we have money and TC will complete most of his ins before players leave us. Good to have an abundance rather than a shortage.

With abundance comes a wage bill. Always nice to have depth and options but I am always cautious following our previous demise and financial issues - like the ambition but really hope it's all for a longer term goal and not a fast buck. Also hope that we can continue to support it as the promising youngsters start demanding more! You can only have 11 on the field and the rest can't all sit on the bench! That all sounds negative and probably is but only because I don't want us scratching around for players and wages to pay them if it all goes belly up😁 I am really excited about some of the players coming in, but yet again we don't seem to be looking at back - where we really do need to invest for depth. Early days and looking forward to see what pans out👍🏻👍🏻MOT
