We NEED clingan if not some1 just like him, brown is good back up but clingan is what our midfield is crying out for, we NEED a tough proven center back to make us solid and could do with lichaj back, then I'm happy, then we can push for premier definitely, if we don't get these 3 by the end of the window then I just can't see it, surely Simon knows this, he said he would sort and bring in new defence but nothing yet so far, hurry up please Grayson n bates

Believable13 Unbelievable2

Need also CB, fullback and striker to cover for injuries. Paynter not up to the job.

Agree0 Disagree0

Having known the Graysons for a number of years trust me when i say Simon is as annoyed and frustrated as the fans by whats going on or not with transfers and contracts at the club, if it continues personally i think he will walk and who would blame him? {Ed007's Note -

I wouldnt mind if we didnt make any more signings in this window (tho it would be better). Perhaps a season gettin the younger lads up to scratch in the championship such as nunez and clayton would be good. Make this a season for consolidation and build for a promotion push next season. I cant see any harm in that.

Believable7 Unbelievable11

I see harm in that if wr dont go up this season we will lose all out top players like gradel snodgrass beccio and more we need to go up thisseason

Agree0 Disagree0

Wasn't last year consolidation?

Year-on-year improvement is necessary in any profession, skill or trade. Leeds United should be no different.

Aim should be play-offs at a minimum, but lack of money invested speaks louder of the club's ambition than any Yorkshire Radio propaganda.

Agree0 Disagree0

Theres no point entering a conpetition if you dont want to win it, a decent left back and a loan striker to cover becchio and somma and we'll do well

Nunez isn't that young, hes about 27

Agree0 Disagree0

We are clearly the biggest club in this division with support etc... i am sure we will average the highest attendance in this league as we do year on year.. so why do we have to consolidate, this baffles me with Leeds United - we allegedly have no debt so we must be an attractive investment for someone to take us in the premier league.. even KB should realize he will treble any investment overnight if he spends

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not gonna make Gradel and Snodgrass stay at Leeds is it? You should always look to improve and at the end of the day Grayson has basically blamed Schmeicel for all the goals we let in last year and not the defence. This is a blind man

Agree0 Disagree0

Fed up with the lack of signings. Really cant see us signing anyone now. gutted. we are a joke :(

Liam Lawrence looks a buy
Irish so fits Snodins bil and has played with Brown I think at Pompey - and Pompey are skint

Believable11 Unbelievable4

What link does snodin have with Lawrence? Snodin is assistant of Northern Ireland and Lawrence represents the republic Stop talkin sh*te

vote now guys would u have bates running our club or ridsdale belive bates or unbelive ridsdale

Believable28 Unbelievable15

Ed - Can you add a third button saying 'I'd rather gnaw off my own kneecaps and throw them in Mike Tyson's face screaming "Pussy"'? {Ed037's Note - I'll see what I can do ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be nice to meet somewhere in between, a chairman that will spend money on players but sensible, money on players not boxes in the stadium, don't expect wot Leicester r doing coz that's typical of Sven, spend loads of money and leave them when the s# Â hits the fan, he will never win owt in English football, I'd hav Grayson over him any day, but back to the point I'd rather bates but use the money on players when we hav it

Agree0 Disagree0

Let me c, in 2 years gained promotion, almost made the playoffs and r debt free or bankrupt minus 15 points and losin r best players because we need cash. Think i'l take the first. Thanks master bates. We r Leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Who ever would rarther has risdale are either mentaly challenged or just not a leeds fan, atleast bates is a good business man. + bates is building us up to sell

Agree0 Disagree0

Whoever had put ridsdale needs to stay off their crackpipe, flipping idiots

Agree0 Disagree0

Had the labour goverment acted like Bates the country would not be in the Sh1t it is today. Had they invested in the infrastructure to generate wealth just like Bates is doing the country would be stronger and more able to invest today. A sensible man knows that you can only spend more than you earn for a short period before you max out the credit card. Blindly throwing other peoples money ( yours and mine who pay at the turnstiles) at players not worth the shirt will only put us back on skid row. Wake up and smell the coffee more clubs will go to the wall this season. Look whats happening at Birmingham. Sold the Club to a foriegn ganster, or West Ham an Icelandic Biscuit millionare ( front for money laundering), they get the club in load of debt then fu*k off. We might not want to go on a night out with Uncle Ken but you have to trust what he's doing to make the club a force again. {Ed001's Note - are you for real? They did exactly what Bates does. They sell off the family silver and then spend our money on improving it, just like Bates is doing with Elland Road. It is insanity. Spend the money buying the ground back if it is there, only an idiot or someone who gets a cut of the rent would not want to buy the ground back first.}

Agree0 Disagree0

There both the same but in different ways Rids over spent to see the clube do well on the pitch and Fooooockt it up

Bates as no desire to see Leeds do well as a football team hes putting every penny we have into something he can sell and make a profit on for him self. When he leave he will take Leeds United for ever penny they have and will leave us in the same position as Rids did
So one did it for the team one for self gain you make your own mind up with you prefer

Agree0 Disagree0

I can understand the in between comment but how could any leeds fans with only one brain cell choose risdale, even if you hate bates you prefer to be up there again for a very short time then go into melt down, we did what man city are doing but in a smaller way buying loads of players who are worth nowhere near what they are paying..at least they own them. our model of getting someone elseto buy and own them was madness. too much negativity of bates and grayson building a quality team to take us up and keep us up takes time think we should all wait and see what happens then judge oldham whites

Agree0 Disagree0

What?? There are two people who would rather have Ridsdale??. Banned from the internet and all of Leeds for life. What a mind-blowing ridiculous comment.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest id rather neither had anything to do with our great club. The only impression i get with KB that hes here to line his pockets, once hes sucked us dry he ll be on his way.Or he could put his hand in his deep pockets and buy us some decent players, but i think not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the totally unanswerable question. That's like saying would you rather be eaten by a lion in the jungle or a shark in the sea and you must have spelt a word wrong. It's not running our club it's ruining our club. Ask again when Bates sells to a guy wanting to make Leeds the force it should be (deserves to be) and I'll give you my answer. Our fans are the equal of any fans in England and deserve better than what we are been given (so does the manager). We belong in the Premier League and Grayson deserves a shot at taking us there instead of watching his list of people he believes can do it go elsewhere. I'm not saying we should go crazy like Leicester but we should invest in strengthening the team. After all, how many years do you want to sit in this League or maybe even go down one. Tommo MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't believe there are 9 voting for Risdale after what he did to us. Guessing they are off comers. At least Bates isn't a daydreamer like that clown was. MOT

Just heard about the centre mid/striker in question is none other than michael duberry

Believable3 Unbelievable19

That might work oh wait a min he's a defender not midfielder or striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Is that the same Michael Dubbery who has spent his whole career as CB?

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't remember seeing another player give away so many penalties or get so many bookings per minute on the pitch when he was at leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Please is you are going to post somthing make it accurate enough that maybe some person might believe it. he was a defender and is the same age as my nan. that is about as believeble as me saying leeds just held talks with terry wogan over hosting LUFC TV and Michael jackson and amy winehouse are doing a duet covering marching on together....t**t

Agree0 Disagree0

My dad used ta hate it when he played for us reckoned he was the worst cb ever think he would pack football in altogether if he came back lol

Agree0 Disagree0

He said Midfielder who can play striker. Hes going to have us start the Smith rumours again but im pretty sure we are talking Alex Mendy here.

Agree0 Disagree0

As someone who knows Michael, I can state this rumour is utter nonesense. Michael has just signed for Oxford United and after spending a few years in Scotland, is looking forward to spending time with his family. Michael was a loyal servant for Leeds United for six years, sadly the way some sections of the Leeds United supporters turned against him due to the court case, was disgraceful.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye aye someone been on the funny fags again?

Agree0 Disagree0

Duberry got shafted by woodgate/bowyer and never deserved the s**t he got....good luck at oxford dubs ....

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think people got the irony in this... funny comment Made me chuckle.... Duuuuuuuuuubes ha ha

Agree0 Disagree0

Finally someone sees it as a joke. Can't believe people take a comment like that so seriously

Agree0 Disagree0

I see Dickinson has signed for Watford. I liked him when he was at Leeds. Shame we couldn't get him for LB

Believable5 Unbelievable8

God he was terrible, and he strolled about like he had a sexuality problem

Agree0 Disagree0

Dickinson is s**te. Not fit to wear the shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this Carl Dickinson (good for Leeds as a LB) or Liam Dickinson who was absolute pants

Expect Gradel, Howson and Snograss to leave in the next 12 Months if we dont go up, as these three need to take the next step to further their careers. I'd love them to stay but we cant afford to match their wages and ambitions as it will take another 5 years to clear the debt we stoll owe
I love Leeds and always will no matter what league we play in, but we will wont be a giant club for a while, so be patient, (all good things come to those who wait)
MOT

Believable6 Unbelievable16

So what, they were nobodies till they came here and they won't make it big if they moved because the team wouldn't play to their style or revolve round them like it does here, if we don't progress then let them go, it's not the end of the world, we will just replace them, we got them when we was in a rut in the third tier of the leagues so we will replace them if were in the championship so don't worry, I couldn't care less

Agree0 Disagree0

Howson would never leave he's a Leeds fan through and through and he even said himself that as long as its up to him he'll stay a Leeds player.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you bother to read what bates said a few months ago....... We are not in debt anymore

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do idiots who don't have a clue about the club even bother posting on here, were about the only club in the football league that isn't in debt u clown.if snodgrass and gradel etc wanted to leave then they would go no player is bigger than our club no matter wat there is always someone to replace them, we are Leeds MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

What a person u are first rumor, we went into a company voluntary arrangement person head we have been debt free for two seasons now I wish u were a proper Leeds fan then u would not be cutting shot like this on a rumors site. What rumor is this. Pr*ck. Get a life and learn you history if the mighty whites.

Agree0 Disagree0

While I am aware we are debt free, wasn't it a condition of the CVA that we have to pay the 15 mill or so we still owe should we return to the Prem within so many years? I could be wrong but I'm sure I read that back then.

Agree0 Disagree0

CVA agreement was a £5mn payment to creditors if we get promoted to prem league by I think 2015 ?

looks like wigan rare sniffing after snoddy again grt player and every team needs a gd jock but if we get a gd price and SG gets the cash???

Tezza MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable4

Well. Bates gets the cash and we lose a great player. Grayson won't see a penny of it

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like it'll be dearer wallpaper in the exec boxes then. He might give SG a fiver if he's good.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll be fair and say IF Wigan meet the asking price sell him, even with half the 8m SG could do lots, however, any less, send them away and tell them they are a rugby team and to grow up

my point below on Clingans boss sounding powerless to avoid a 'good deal ' ( swpa deal) and i doubt the coventry boss has the final say on Clingans future - the coventry board will and are skint and so if offered 900k plus one of our players who can do a job for them then Bates will get Clingan FACT (and the deal almost done we are hearing ) good, busy, tough tenacious player cross between Batty and Speed

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Bates paying 900k never 90k yes and throw in Bessone Bruce thats more like Bates

coventry boss comments on reluctance to sell Sammy clingan cheap - BUT reading between the lines this sounds like we are going to do a part cash part player trade deal ( Grella, and Paytner ( both ) or Sam i'd say plus 900k cash
''"If someone tried to get him on the cheap I would have to put an argument to the shareholders saying it would be madness to lose this guy.

Coventry boss said "I am not saying that I am not going to trade, because if there is a clever trade to do I promise you I will do it.''

Believable7 Unbelievable2

One of the 2 midfielders is clingan and it's more or less a done deal, ridicule me or not but it's near completion. johnson was a not starter and a gamble.

Agree0 Disagree0

May i ask where everyone is getting this info from or is it made up again? Harry ....MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Cv boss quoted on cov newsnow and Clingan insiders have leaked its done deal ( Johnson was a crock risk - good luck to him but like smith after injuries of that severity they are sadly NEVER the same player - not possible but as assets they cant admit to that ( though smith allegedly has this week in private - saying the expectation on him at Leds would be too high for him to deliver with his weak left foot ) Young mans league the Champhionship to make 30 games or a very fit 30 yr old like brown

The two midfielders KB mentioned are believed to be two of the following;

-Tamir Cohen
-Sanchez Watt
-Liam Lawrence
-Giles Barnes
-Sammy Clingan
-Nick Montgomery
-Stephen Quinn
-and another CM/RB that could join is Jonathan Spector.

Comment and tell us which two you would like to see, personally the two i would like are Liam Lawrence and Stephen Quinn/Nick Montgomery

MOT

Believable7 Unbelievable5

None of those can play up front, so i'm declaring this more bollocks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love Liam Lawrence he is better than the rest of them put together

Agree0 Disagree0

Tamir Cohen can play up front, he'd be a quality signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Giles barnes can play upfront because he's a striker, cant see lawrence coming cause he's a winger

Agree0 Disagree0

Liam Lawrence brilliant player would be a fantastic signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Monty n Quinn r crap, we don't need any more up front the midfield floods with goals now even more with mendy and Nunez, SG will play lone striker We all know this, we NEED defence and holding midfielder, clingan perfect if not some1 like him n a strong CB and lichaj for right back, let's see if bodor is our new LB

Agree0 Disagree0

Most likely Sammy Clingan..... and maybe Sanchez Watt on loan again We need to sort out the shoddy defence as a priority

Agree0 Disagree0

We cant play one upfront without Becchio. Both McCormack and Paynter need to play with a partner(each other) like at the end of the season.

So Until Becchio is back we need to play 4-4-2

Agree0 Disagree0

Aint going to get cohen , not a bad player but he joined Doncaster about a month ago

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard the McFadden deal is a non-starter, but Sammy Clingan deal is in final stages. Apparently, been in negotiations with Coventry for over 6 weeks trying to agree fee.

Any real rumours to post ed? Am getting tired off all this bull that gets on when it clearly won't happen? For one I would be happy with mcfadden. Is it a possibility. Or is someone just hoping {Ed001's Note - just hoping, the lad is asking for a lot more than Leeds will pay. I haven't heard of any concrete rumours, all I have heard is a few enquiries regarding some Premier League loanees. By that I mean asking for a list of the players they are willing to loan out.}

Believable5 Unbelievable2

What's a REAL rumour? A rumour is a rumour Jeeeeeeeees, some people

Agree0 Disagree0

I would class a real rumour as something that might actually happen

Agree0 Disagree0

Well that wouldn't be a rumour would it you plank lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do people keep "asking ed" if he knew any more than the rest of you he'd have posted it obviously Ed...why not make email address mandatory, validate and stop people posting once they have post say 2 completely made up post. Is it because 95% of posts on here are completely made up? {Ed001's Note - I only post stuff in response to questions mate, I don't like giving out info because you just get tons of abuse, even if proven to be correct later on.}

any news on sanchez watt signing

Believable10 Unbelievable4

I aint got a clue. In my eyes we dont really need a winger, but the fact SG is looking at Mendy would suggest its watt v mendy not both. If that were the case i'd want Watt i think. He didnt have the gr8test season last time but he didnt really get a chance due to max. But he has gr8 talent. views Watt or Mendy?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully not, I never want that self obsessed yet untalented footballer near ER again.

Agree0 Disagree0

You what? Watt was truly dire - missed some sittes in very important matches, and was totally allergic to tackling. It would have to be Mendy who greatly impressed me against Wednesday

Agree0 Disagree0

I would Like to see mendy because hes looking sharp during this current pre season and I would personally like to see a change in the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

To me watt is at best an average championship player. do we want average players on loan?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know about self obsessed, but it definitely didn't do anything to impress me last season, why would we want him?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2011 14:11:06
No need to get overly excited with the talk of 2 midfielders coming to the club that KB is talking about.
One will be Sanchez Watt back on loan, the other deal wont happen as SG sees his squad as capable for the coming year.
He will most likely take up the option to sign Mendy and Bodor seeing as they are free transfers, but unless a serious injury were to occur in the squad, he'l still go for the cheapest options.
We should be sponsored by Asda....

Believable6 Unbelievable12

I've never heard such rubbish in my life Aldi would be a much more suited spnsor :P

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I don't see the point in signing both Watt and Mendy as we have plenty of wingers already

Agree0 Disagree0

I agee with what you say about Watt. Unless we lose Max or Snoddy he'll be lucky if he plays a handful of games. We need a defence and half a midfield. Bowyer & Johnson would have been ideal if we could have pulled it off. If SG is putting his faith in Paddy, OB & Bromby in defence I think we'll struggle. Paddy not proven at this level and God only knows if he will stay fit. We won't go down, but we'll be lucky if we make 6th.

Believable5 Unbelievable12

Where are my keys, I will pick him up and drive him over if he needs a lift

Agree0 Disagree0

I didnt even know he was still playing for us lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I will follow in my car behind the guy that posted first, just in case he runs into any difficulties

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love to see the faces of hull fans if that happens :')

Agree0 Disagree0

And what is the transfer fee we have to pay Hull to take him off out hands? LOL. I think most Leeds fans would take it In turns to carry him on the M62 :@)

Why he couldn't even get in the selby town starting line up

Beckford is coming back, but the stumbling block is his wages, he is a high roller now. so it prob wont happen after all. never mind.

Beckford was the top scorer at Everton last season, he won't be going anywhere, would love to see him back though

Leeds to sign giles barnes and tamir cohen by the end of the weekend

Believable11 Unbelievable9

This one I can believe. Both free, both talented in my view. Would be quite happy with these signings. Neither will have been on big bucks either so i could see it happening.

Agree0 Disagree0

Those would be good signings so fingers crossed

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds aren't interested in Barnes, no idea why but it's common knowledge he's trialling at Doncaster. No idea bout Cohen but he would be a good signing & he fits our budget - nowt

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2011 13:33:46
Smith should not get booed on saturday, he went to scum? didnt some of our legendary players come from their? ala giles and strachan? GROW UP

Believable17 Unbelievable11

Don't worry he'll get booed on Sunday instead.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you're on twitter I've started to drive people mad with the #teamsmudger lol MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep, with you. I am about supporting my team and my City. Not hating others or burning players at the stake who dare to play for rivals. To them, it's a job. Fair do's.

Agree0 Disagree0

Smith won't get booed on Sat or Sun as he is nowhere near good enough to getting into the toon line up. He was voted their worst ever player two years ago, that says it all really

Agree0 Disagree0

Someones been reading Peter Lorimors comments in the YEP Or is that you Peter?

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not that, it's that he wouldn't take a wage drop to play for the team he "loves" insted he's just gonna sit on the newcastle bench for the money

Agree0 Disagree0

If you're on twitter I've started to drive people mad with the #teamsmudger lol MOT
Do you do anything else?

Agree0 Disagree0

The only ones that wont boo is the plastics or the fangirls

Agree0 Disagree0

The only one's that will boo are the idiot, no brain, Neanderthal clowns that keep dragging our rep down. Instead of booing him (after all it should be about us the team) we should be singing louder than ever and making him wish he was back in a Whites shirt. Remember we are talking about a kid that wore his heart on his sleeve when he played for us & if Lorrimer's comments are true (yes i read the YEP) then how many players do you know that would have turned down the opportunity to win titles and cups when been clearly shown the exit door?
Grow up or get lost & become a Millwall fan. We don't need your sort at this great club any more. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

If you think so little of our fan base you clearly shouldnt be leeds. Do you not think marching on together gives you an idea about what are clubs about....moron.

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't need your sort at this great club any more>>>

I'm honesly supprised some muppet hasn't posted a rumor like
Leeds to sign beckford on loan. Or something about us getting beckford back. Yep I'm suprised he hasn't been loaned out but no way would he come back to leeds

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Why would he be loaned out anyone? He was Everton's top scorer last season

Agree0 Disagree0

Surprised? you for real he play really well towards the end of last season they aint letting him go out on loan

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would he be loaned out? didnt he score 9 goals last season with limited chances towards the beginning

he will be 15+ goals in prem this year, watch this space

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would he get loaned out he is a good striker and and a decent season to say he stepped up from league 1 to prem with some good goals be nice if he din't leave leeds though see how he did in champ with us :( he still a hero though never to be forgotten MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you'll find your the muppet for posting this rumour. You really need to check your facts. It sometimes takes a striker time to click at a team but he started to click towards the end of last season and will be 20+ this season and pushing for an England place. That's like you expecting us to loan out Max, Rob or Becchio - dipstick

david bentley was seen in wetherby this morning, might be nothing but he could be a gud signing for us competion for all our wingers. Can only make ours betta,

Believable4 Unbelievable15

More likely A bentley was seen there. absolutely no chance at all of david bentley, when you make things up, at least make it believable

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't want the Blackburn Beckham, he is just a big time charlie.

Would be great in the champ but a prem side would have him so this would never happen. prob end up at QPR.

Lonerghan for Kasper - yes please.
Kisnorbo for Brondby - yes please.
Brown for Killkenny - yes please.

Our squad this year looks better than last year. We have retained our best players from last season and improved on some of the weaker ones. Johnson is arguably the only loss. Would like to see a centre back and another centre mid, but I personally feel very positive about the changes we have made so far.

Believable17 Unbelievable9

Agree with you mate apart from Kisnorbo replacing BROMBY. More like replacing Naylor. Dont forget Lees who I reckon should be given a go. Johnson is not a big loss at all. I expect Clayton or Nunez to step into his shoes and completely outshine what he had done .

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm agreeing with that, only place I feel we really need to improve now is both full back positions, would like eric back, and maybe bodor (spelling?) will be a good left back Ben parker should be sold Unfortunately

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with the above posts.

I don't thnk we are any weaker than last year, I just wish we would bolster the defence a bit.

I to hope Lees is given a chance. We've seen too many promising youngsters dissapear in recent years. Whatever happened to Scott Gardner, saw him play a couple of times and each time he looked excellent but was never given a real chance. Could have been the right back we've been searching for since Garry Kelly.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the first reply nunez for johnson also yes please

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with that If we could make one more signing though I would like a talented young centre back - like a young Woodgate

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to agree with all the above, its about time ppl on ere started talking sense, me for one do not think we are any weaker this time round, but do still need a little more strength in a couple of positions, but i also believe SG wont let us down....M.O.T

How is Lonergan better than Kasper Schmeichel?.... The other 2 yes, but so far we've sold good players (Schmeichel, Kilkenny, Johnson, Naylor, etc...) and bought old past it players in Rachbka, Lonergan (who was only 1 keeper who conceded more than Schmeichel did with our crappy defence infront of him & Brown who's knocking on too & didn't look too good at Portsmouth I worry for the season unless some quality is bought Come on Batesy & Grayson....lets buy quality Some Good free transfers up this year too So we don't always have to spend alot Even some good loans like Sanchez Watt was last year Sort out our crummy defence thank god Kisnorbo's back

Agree0 Disagree0

Not seen new keepers much, have to trust SG, but did see Kasper in 30 odd games last season, and didn't rate him. Very flashy, great saves, but poor communication, positioning and decision making. A nightmare for defenders to play with.

I will support Leeds till I die but when players who claim to be Leeds supporters themselves make comments such as this it really shows the position to which we have fallen and our aspirations for the future.

Johnson said: "It was an easy decision. I had not played for a while and then the chance to come back under Sven."

This along with Bowyer (who I think would have been an excellent signing) going to Ipswich and Smith who has said he would rather sit out his contract (not bothered about him one way or the other but do think he would do better than Brown).

It's getting depressing

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Bowyer never intended to come back to Leeds, he wanted to stay as close to London as possible where he has been living and near to all his faimly.

Agree0 Disagree0

I partly agree, but I don't think being a fan had anything to do with it. Being paid peanuts in any job is s**t and when Leeds offer peanuts, well do I have to say anymore?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hang on a second, where has it been stated by any leeds official that we were even after johnson or for that matter Smith?

Someo of you lot need to get a grip, just because someone has signed a player that is rated, doesnt mean we've missed out or the player is a judas as he's a leeds fan but turned us down - unless we hear officially that a certain player has been approached but turned us down, can we all stop jumping to conclusions and making yourself look childish

Agree0 Disagree0

In 2005 according to the yorkshire post ken bates was worth 30m, in oct 2010 KB had fallen to 98th (footballing terms) with a fortune worth 20m..now lets get this in perspective thats barely the vat on a good player, under the sinking ship bates the motto is if aint cheap or free we cant afford it...NAFI..no aim f***all interest. at 79yrs old ken find us an abramovic

Agree0 Disagree0

None of the players mentioned, were actually in discussions with Leeds United FC about any move, the media decided to run some stories taken from various football forums and some "supporters" claiming to have inside information. I would also suggest that is in the players interest to have a "club" after him, so that he can get a good deal with an actual club

Agree0 Disagree0

Its getting depressing listening to moaning bores like you, this is the way we are at the moment, get behind the team and grow a pair.

Agree0 Disagree0

No sure I agree with you here mate. As above, when did Leeds actually say Yes we are after Johnson or Smith. This rumour site is great, one of the best, but thats just exactly it...its rumours and this is the only place I have seen us 'linked' with Johnson. Just keep the faith. Many people will pass in and out of ER but one thing stays the same and that is the fans. Support the club and anyone involved for the time being

Agree0 Disagree0

Eh? Brown played more games last season (when he didn't play for half the season cos of his contract) than Smith has done in the last three years And Johnson would be a luxury we neither need or can afford. Leicester are spending lots but so did Boro last year. Money doesn't get you out of this division, experience does.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Hang on a second ...." Simon Grayson himself has said in interviews that they had spoken to/made enquiries about both Johnson & Bowyer.

I was only trying to get the point across with Johnson that when a 'Leeds fan' finds it an easy decision to choose another club it highlights the fact Leeds are not an attractive proposition. Ditto Smith with preferring to 'sit' on his arse.

People talk about money being an issue but when you consider these players earn in a year what most of us earn in a lifetime should a few thousand quid a week really be that much of an issue across the period of a loan deal? I for one would consider it a small price to pay to play for the team I support and it would hardly mean they would have to go without would it?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think you can really describe £5k-£10k a week as peanuts which is I'm sure, even within KB's limited budget. On top of that there would no doubt still be a considerable percentage of their salary paid by their current club.

OK so they may have to take a cut in their salary but in MJ's case even at 50% (which I doubt in reality it would be as low as) he'd still be earning well over £1m a year.

But don't get me wrong, I'm not having a go at the players here, I'm just trying to point out how unattractive the option of playing for Leeds appears to come across.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its getting depressing reading replies from brain dead supporters who are unable to understand the context of a post in the manner it was intended. You're probably one of the 'fans' who only turns up for 'big' games and then stands for the whole match shouting abuse at the away fans rather than support your own team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant see it happening. He will do 1 season with Norwich, if they survive the Prem (doubt it) then he will leave

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Grant Holt want to leave Norwich ?......He took them up by himsef with all the goals he scored. Club captain & a taste of the Premiership to come for him.......No chance with this rumour, would be a nice dream for us Leeds United fans to get him :D

One of my dads clients was staying at Granary wharf where the Newcastle team where staying around 3 weeks ago my dad believes when he was telling me. This is the Gods honest truth but his client and personal friend is an avid leeds fan and he managed to speak to smith for around 10 mins at the hotel. Smith said to him that he wont come back to Leeds because he says he can no longer cope with the expectation that he would have to live up to at elland road. Furthermore he says that he doesnt feel half the footballer he was and that he can barely use his left foot and doesnt want to let the team down, feeling that he would be more of a liability than an asset to the team. Whenever he spoke about Leeds he used the Words "We" and he is still very much passionate about the club. Im relaying this information onto you lot, i believe ive got all of the details and not forgot anything :s I just thought you lot deserved to know

No wasnt my opinion, i was shocked to hear it myself i wanted smudger back would of loved him at elland road again.

ha what reflects that? Him thinking hes too big to return to leeds, or the extortinate wages he demands for his lack of footballing ability.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe Smith was saying it to cover the fact that he doesnt want to come back for money reasons, or maybe he is being genuine either way we will not know what is truely going on in his head will we

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes greedy pure and simple, he thinks far too much about his 'talent' the guy needs a wake up call.
Its funny how many peoples dads spoke to so and so or are in the know :D

Agree0 Disagree0

In response to the above comment this conversation did happen, its 100% true whether Smith was lying to the guy is another thing. I personally wanted Smith to come back to the club

Agree0 Disagree0

Well remember the young lad that was filmed crying when we got relegated? Smith went to go see him and give him is shirt as a positive PR stunt, the lad said to him 'please dont sign for the scum', and smith replied 'I promise ya son I wouldnt do that''. James McFadden to sign on a free transfer, Keith Andrews to sign for around £750K-1M. Eric Lichaj to sign on a season long loan.

Jlloyd Samuel to be given contract after trial.

Isaiah Osbourne, Alex Mendy and Boldiszar Bodor not to be given contracts.

Mike Grella out on a season long loan. Lloyd Sam and Aidy White could possibly be shipped out on loan deals.

Believable9 Unbelievable17

So we give a contract to an injured player and not to the LB or the winger what a load of sh*t

Agree0 Disagree0

Mendy wouldnt be required if we get mcfadden tbf.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bonkers. Mendy has been brilliant on trial, Samuel has been injured. This wins the award for bonkers post of the day.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we give a contract to a player that has featured in half of one pre season game, and not to the two players that have featured and stood out so far.
Also to let Sam out on a season long loan would be daft as I feel he could be a key player if he stays fit.
People do write some rubbish on here. MOT In Grayson we Trust.

Mendy the stand out player in all 3 games hes played. and i was at them all. samuel was s**te in the half he played. dont talk wet. mendy will get a contract before any of the others.... MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

The 3 at the start of your post would be good signings in my opinion. Although would rather Lichaj sign permanantly. Jlloyd will not be offered a contract...why after half a game and is now injured. Osbourne shouldnt be with as he is useless from what I've seen and I reckon Bodor would be worth a crack. Grella I expect to move on some way...poss even a 'mutual' termination. Sam and White I think are too valuable to let go out on loan...they would be good back up for any injuries, lack of fitness (as in fixture congestion) and suspensions.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe all of it apart from the Samuel getting a contract and Mendy not. I think Mendy and Bodor should get contracts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you deluded, Medny and bodor if any of the tialists will sign, SG wants to sell grella, not loan, Mcfadden is a possibility, andrews I doubt and Lichaj is the other possibility but not until perm have names there 25 players

Agree0 Disagree0

If any of you had taken the bother to go to any of the preseason friendlies you would have seen Bodor is useless as a defender, Aidy White be a better option, Mendy the only trialist to sign i reckon.

This is true and we all appreciate Ken Bates saving our club but its now time to show some ambition and move forward but this just isnt going to happen with Bates in charge

Agree0 Disagree0

But he is only there to sell the club for profit not for love of the club he is 'doing the place up' but not investing in the team

Agree0 Disagree0

MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

In my opinion, Bates saw a severely wounded animal and an opportunity so took us on for minimal investment but took on the debt. Then put is administration that got rid of a lot of debt. Don't forget he bought Chelsea for a quid took on there debt and built them up before selling.

If smaller clubs with less return can be saved I don't believe for a minute that there wasn't anybody else that could have taken us on.

All rumours now seem to be about Mifielders/strikers and Eric from Aston Villa. Is there nothing about a Cetre back? A. Obrian is injured (and getting on a bit), the usual suspects from last season and Kisnorbo. THe defence struggled behind that midfield. Is it felt that with a stronger midfield the defence will cope? I would prefer a strong CB to come in to make it more solid + the rumoured midfielders of SG's choice.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

We do need another commanding CB thats a fact but i honestly think johnson and killa were at fault for a lot last season and it wont happen with brown in there. my 3 month old nephew could skin killa. he didnt have a clue how to bridge a gap between defence and midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

SG don't need a new CB, Kisnorbo and O'B first choice back up of Bruce and Bromby and Brown can play there, we don't need anyone else. Full back's one and trial and has always been after getting eric back Mendy is awesome from what I hear, and he wants another creative attacking option with a bit of know how, McFadden fitting the bill, as he can drop in mid and also cover up front

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2011 08:48:01
The whole team will benifit from the experience of Brown in midfield. Clayton and Nunez have looked really good in pre season also. Mcfaddon would be a good signing but depends on his fitness as he has not played for a while. The two keepers look good better than the two we had last year and both have more experience at this level.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

There seems to be a common view that Clayton can just step up but where is any evidence for this? I've not heard of one game for Leeds where he has really shone. Ok so Bradders got better offers and wouldn't sign but since he got booed for this you have to say the lad raised his game no end. With the midfield almost deal done, quote Uncle
Ken: 2 MIDFIELDERS ON THE WAY. Let us now
focus soley on the defence. Most of the goals
Leeds conceded came from the left. Leeds need
to bring in a steady LB. On the other hand the
RB is quite steady with Connoly in that position.
Leeds might need cover in that area if Connoly
is injured. We still have Bruce, Bromby, White.
The CB is another concern.A reliable CB to
partner Kisnorbo forming a solid defensive wall.
This are the 2 areas that needs strenghtening.
LB- LEFT BACK N CB - CENTRE BACK.
I believe Simon will get the correct players in to
fill this position. Once this quality players are in place, Leeds will have a strong team to challenge
for a place in the PREMIER LEAGUE.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

Connolly is not good enough Where has he ever had any success? Maybe he looked good for Plymouth but that was a long time ago He was p*ss poor at Derby, they were glad to see the back of him. He was rubbish last year, always too far up the pitch and regularly getting skinned by average players. We need a right back who can defend first

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I think Connolly did ok last season, he didnt set the pitch alight but was steady enough. I wouldnt mind him being our starting right back. Other areas are by far more a priority

Agree0 Disagree0

Always thought Connolly might end up at CB. When you look at Lihaj you see what a proper full back should be doing ie attacking with pace and a bit of skill

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds leaked far too many goals last year. Fullbacks too lacking in pace when they came up against even average attacking pace. They need to strengthen the back four and get a quality defensive midfielder. We have plenty of attacking quality, no worries there.

Leeds already have Brown (holding midfielder).
They need probably 1 more, a attacking midfielder.
The name that can fill up this position and add
more bite into our midfield is Wes Hoolahan.Sign
him up Simon. He will strenghten up the midfield.
The defence needs sorting out urgently. LB
should go to Lichaj. RB position to Stuart Parnaby.
CB position to someone who can organise the
defence well. The name that pops up is Danny
Gabbidon. He will form a good partnership with
Kisnorbo. Well if you have money to spend u can
sign up Montgomery, Clingan and Jonathan
Spector. With this quality players Leeds will be
serious contenders to challenge for the PREMIER LEAGUE. Just suggesting.Whoever you sign Simon
we will back you up. Leeds all the way up.

Went to watch the Leeds United XI play so poorly against Bradford Park Avenue the other night. The rumours doing the latest rounds were : -

Leeds about to announce the purchase of Mc Fadden on a Free Transfer & Keith Andrews is signing for a fee somewhere between £800,000-£1.5million.

Leeds looking to announce the signature of Sammy Clingan from Coventry when the Newcastle game has finished this weekend.

Leeds also about to table a bid for Gary Roberts from Huddersfield for a fee between £100,000-£350,000's

Grayson also let it be known has said he's interested in signing Wes Hollahan from Norwich as he may now be fighting for a starting 11 position & is quality we have missing.

Also heard that a Loan deal for Lichaj from Aston Villa for a 12month loan is virtually sealed.

The swapping of Paynter for Montgomery has also propped up again, but nobody from the staff at Leeds United would clarify this......

The deal will be partly sponsored in a high profile joint deal with 'The Big Yellow Skip Company'.
