Smith was a big issue at the time, i live near the theatre of scum and every scum fan i know say smith never played for the shirt like he did at leeds he is leeds through and through what ever anybody say and if we do get him back i think it is our passage back to the big time, would also love woody to come back if he is fit enough..last time we where in this position a man called vinny was called on and he was awful but my god did he play for the shirt we need as many of them as we can get to get us back up there and then all these moaning about ownership of mr bates will get there chance to get rid if him too being a leeds fan is a full on job and everyone wants us up there again but it as to be controlled and not like last time...we have to march on together Oldham Whites

How many times do you post as seperate posters?
This Smith obsession is seriously unhealthy
Agree0

I think you already have a good idea what the majority of Leeds fans opinions are on here, you just don't want to accept it dear.
Agree0
Disagree0
Why would we want a guy who hasnt scored since Methusalah was a lad, whats this obsession with ex Leeds players, same with Woodgate, a guy whos played three times in two years, move forward not backwards, get guys whos here for the shirt, not the money.
Agree0
Disagree0
I agree, i feel smith is a step backwards and he will struggle in the championship, i dont care that he left us for the rats in scumchester i just feel hes will find it hard to play to the expectations we all expect from him

Yeah bet you did. Your at one if the worlds most prestigious Hotels/Casinos, and you got distracted to quickly jump on this site to let the Leeds fans know? (no disrespect to the site, it's awesome :-) )
Agree0

Strange then considering he's been in florida and widely reported he was back this week, if not already, to discuss his future, so no decision has been made as far as we know.
Anyone whos read twitter, daily fail and countless other sources say otherwise and as much as I'm extremely doubtful that Smith will sign, its funny how it refuses to die off.

You might be wireless in the Bellagio but i bet you staying at circus circus :-)

Dudek, Bowyer, Smith, Woodgate, Frings all confirmed to be in talks with Leeds by the Yorkshire Evening Post. Just to point out that Paul Dews, who confirmed all this, works for Leeds United as Head of Media. Must be a lot of truth in all of them.
All the YEP has done is mention them as possible targets just like the sun , mirror do etc etc in their rumours section and NONE have been CONFIRMED as in talks.
Although SG has said publicly he'd be interested in Smith but a hell of a lot had to be right before the deal was done i.e personal terms , medical etc etc.
Believable12
Unbelievable15
Id luv leeds to try get bodde from swansea. Frings would be awesone just for hes experience alone n think smiyh n bowyer would revitalise the whole club. MOT vcant wait til we sign players
Agree0
Disagree0
Yes. Bodde would be a good buy, but personally I would rather pratley, I know he's wanted by a few prem clubs but he would be great to fill the hole that Johnson left. Good solid player
Agree0
Disagree0
Paul Dews did a radio interview last week, which you can listen to on the newspapers website, (YEP), and his words were " I CAN CONFIRM talks ARE ongoing with Alan Smith and Woodgate, I CAN ALSO confirm that Lee Bowyer has been in discussions with Leeds United this week." Paul Dews is head of media and works at Leeds United. My point being if anyone knows the latest, its Paul Dews. Of course all he has said is they are in talks, wether they will agree terms is something else.
Agree0
Disagree0
Bare in mind if Paul Dews works for Leeds United, he will only publish in the YEP what Ken Bates tells him too, I would say 90% of the stuff about transfers in there will only be released if Ken say's its ok and helps cover up what is actually happening.
Agree0
Disagree0
Talks, big deal. Weve had talkes with three other players and theyve all gone to other clubs already. Talks dont mean anything, we'll be talking to loads of 'potential' signings during the window
Agree0
Disagree0
They can talk to as many as they like but it always seems as soon as mr.bates makes an offer of wages they walk away, however i respect his attitude to the current financial climate as even the lower league clubs are offering way too much in wages and getting into debt on a weekly basis, but what do you do, get into debt to compete or stay financially sound and hope for a bit of luck? for me we are better being sensible and playing safe we all went through hell last time remember
Agree0
Disagree0
Invest in young up and comers, thats the safest way to progress without investing ridiculous amounts of money in the squad.

Believable8
Unbelievable7
How many times? Grayson and Bates have both said they are not signing a striker, they are happy with all there attacking players as we scored most goals last year in the championship.Mate a keeper, 3 defenders, a bal winner and maybe another thats it. Rest could be loans in september if any.

Main goalkeeping target is Stockdale from Fulham. He's a Leeds fan, but its touch and go whether we'll sign him.
Bowyer met Shaun Harvey yesterday.
Believable12
Unbelievable6
The only way this will happen is as a season long loan. Martin Jol has stated that he will not sell him but may loan him to someone who will guarantee first team football...Would SG really guarantee this? Martin Jols comments re Stockdale were reported in the Fulham Chronicle as:
The only situation with [David] Stockdale is that he s a very young goalkeeper and he did ever so well when he came in last year.
"So, the only discussion we ve got with the player is should he play, should he go on loan somewhere, or do you want to keep him as a number two.
If you make a decision to put him on loan then you need another goalkeeper, a number two.
I won t sell him, we ll never sell him, because I think his future is bright.
"But the only thing is, if you make the decision to play him every week, we need a club which will promise me he will play every week.
Agree0

Hearing the same rumor Stockdale wants first team football and is willing to leave on a permanent deal, what Jol wants won't matter if Stockdale really wants out.

Newcastle United have officially offered to pay £30,000 a week to Alan Smith should he decide to move to Leeds.
Leeds have offered £15,000 a week extra to him.
Smith is currently in USA whilst thinking about the offer(s).
Also, Snodgrass has been quoted as saying "You want to play at the highest level"....Norwich have had another bid turned down and Ken Bates has slapped an £8m price tag on him.
Source: The Sun
Believable8
Unbelievable10
Maybe snodgrass did say that? but that doesnt mean he wants to leave leeds now... he just means at some point of his career he wants to play there. lets not forget.... leeds gave snodgrass a chance in english football and hes already said he wants to help leeds get bk to prem... so did gradel. so if we sell either of these players its on the clubs terms and not the players asking to leave.... MOT
Agree0
Disagree0
Snodgrass's quote is jst generic, every player wants to play at the highest level and the paper knows that, dnt believe it, example, lewis Hamilton was quoted in paper "sun" he'd given up, he cleared it all up on Twitter saying it was lies
Agree0
Disagree0
Think I remember the interview where snoddy said that quite a few months back. What the press failed to mention is that he went on to say how he wanted it to be with Leeds. You can take any line out of a sentence and apply what ever meaning you want.
Agree0
Disagree0
Dont believe what u read in the paper most of it is bullsht
Agree0
Disagree0
If he needs to think about it so much, then he doesnt deserve to return
Agree0

Hope Snoddy stays, we arent really going to move forward if we flog all our best players and dont replace them with players of the same standards or higher, which with bates isnt going to happen.
Agree0
Disagree0
Said it once an i ll say it agian if we can get 5mil for him let him go, over rated, gets about 20% of his crosses over hardly ever gets corners past the front post, 1 trick pony looks good from time to time when he goes on a mazey run MOT

Agree0
Disagree0
No, he went to Donny on loan but didn't really impress. Unfortunately, his career has gone down hill since he moved to Sunderland. Great shame as he was such a talent
Agree2
Disagree0
Whether or not people want him back, its doubtful he would return anyway as he has already previously talked in the past about not wishing to return to previous clubs that he has played for, he stated this when he had a chance to rejoin Sheff Utd but chose Doncaster instead, his quote at the time was 'i don't look back, the past stays in the past, i don't see myself ever playing for a team i have already represented'

**From The Sun**
ALAN SMITH'S hopes of a dream return to Leeds have been handed a huge boost by Newcastle.
Injury-hit Smith, 30, has a year left on his Toon deal and old club Leeds cannot afford to pay him anywhere near his £60,000-a-week salary.
But the Magpies are willing to put £30,000 a week towards his Elland Road wage next term, with Leeds stumping up a further £15,000 to coax Smith back to his hometown team.
Newcastle's proposal means Rothwell-born Smith would be dropping only £15,000 a week to finish his career where it all began 14 years ago.
Striker-turned-midfielder Smith is currently thinking over his future while on holiday in America.

Awful signing the guy is 38 and had played 15 games in 4 years with only 4 starts... If this is the great keeper that Grayson had lined up to replace Kasper we are in dire straits
Agree0

Yeah seen it, seems to be true
Good Keeper for one season, Grayson maybe after somebody in a years time
Agree0
Disagree0
Very, very good experienced keeper, but I think it's highly unlikely. Jerzy has stated that he is very happy living in Spain and his family as well. Also, though he said something like ''now it's time to play'', realistically he is going for the last big(ish) pay-cheque before he calls it a day. That's not something you'd get from us.

FYI Sven has the money of millionaire backers that we don't so although this wouldn't be the best signing to use him as an example is wrong. We have one of the poorest chairmen in football in terms of personal wealth but yet some seem to think we have ridsdale era money to spend.

Too many sources stating that Gradel is going. I'm actually getting a bit worried about the situation.
Agree0
Disagree0
I agree, it's starting to get a bit worrying that the frequency of rumours is increasing. As for the person that said he's worth 15m, don't forget there's only a year left on his contract so we wouldn't get his full value, KB & SG need to get him tied down quick
Agree0
Disagree0
If snoddy and maxi left ther would be a ground way at ER, fans would revolt, strike and basicly turn ther back temporally at Leeds, I would personall go to Monaco and sink bates boat
Agree0
Disagree0
But this is the daily mail, they always try to scare people, if gradel can snub Newcastle then he's not going to west ham
Agree0

Why would we sell one of our best players to one of our main competitors, get real?
