If you look on Wiki, it says that Sheikh Mohammed has bought Leeds United in June 2012.

Believable15 Unbelievable10

It says his name is, Mohammed bin wagon Rashid Al Maktoum.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh, it says his name is Bin Wagon too! Some kid is getting excited I think!

Agree0 Disagree0

It also says the moon is made of cheese, anyone can edit wiki.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont believe everything you read on wiki. It's pretty easy to ad info to people's wiki pages on there by all accounts. Would be handy though, he's ££££££££ right up. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh and it also said that oz guy had bought us as well, like ed said wiki can be updated by anyone so don't believe everything that's on there mate. What people don't see is that under most of these things on wiki it says citation needed basically meaning some guy, bored and supporting hudds has written it in hope us boys believe it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wikipedia also states his name is Mohammed bin wagon Rashid Al Maktoum
Which is Genius

Agree0 Disagree0

It actually says on wiki that he has NOT bought Leeds united should have gone to spec savers

Agree0 Disagree0

It says he has not bought leeds utd, its being edited

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea u can edit wiki but i belive its sheikh mohammed from middle east like every1 saying and 2 guy is related to man city owner thats gone round to if u got any1 better come out with it lest the lad is trying and if/when it comes out leeds will be jeading back where they should be

Agree0 Disagree0

It did say he bought leeds i saw it to dont matter tho we will soon know the new owners mot

Agree0 Disagree0

I edited the page from "bought" to "not bought" to prove how easy it is to spread false rumours via wiki. Nobody should take wiki as gospel, wait for official announcements.

Agree0 Disagree0

Been looking at this wiki page and can see no mention of leeds united what so ever, wake up and smell the coffee son

Agree0 Disagree0

According to Wiki we have so many owners now we could fill Elland Rd every week with just them

One of the people involved in the takeover/investment in Leeds could well be Khalid Al Thani. Part of the Qatari Royal family.
Was rumoured to be looking into investing in Chelsea earlier this year but nothing came of it. Would make sense.
Give the Qatari's 10 years to make sleeping giant Leeds a super team again, boosting the profile for the Qatari's for the 2022 World Cup.
Would also explain the amazing silence over this takeover. The Qatari royal family desperate for secrecy in case the deal didn't go through.
I have no source & if Al Thani is involved I won't be claiming I told you so but it would make much more sense than Sheikh Mohammed (although I'd be quite happy to be wrong on that one too).

Your getting carried away with yourself,in fact it could be anybody, not neccessarily someone whos mega rich either,be best to wait and see or be very disappointed if it aint an oil rich Arab.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the reply above, we might be in for an unpleasant surprise when it turns out to not be a mega money buyer. We need to take a chill pill and wait for confirmation.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm the original poster and I agree with the replies about not getting carried away.
This was meant for the banter page and not the rumours page as I have no source telling me that Al Thani is involved. It is however a fact that he is looking into investing into a team. He was interested in investing in Chelsea & he may have been pointed in Bates' direction, who knows! All I'm saying is it's a possibility. Until there is an announcement, I will be keeping my feet firmly on the ground.

hi guys,

if you google sheikh mohammed the first thing at the top is him on wikipedia. If you look at the fourth paragraph down heading sports and culteral interests it says he bought Leeds utd in June 2012.

Take a look its there

Believable7 Unbelievable13

Wikipedia the fountain of all knowledge - it must be true NOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Its clearly been edited by some person with bad grammar. Vinny.

Agree0 Disagree0

I could go on wiki now and put him down as having 30 arms, no legs and an ABBA fetish. It would not mean it was true.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I could be bothered I'd go to Wiki and change the name to Prince Charles.
There'd be an irruption of posts from the gullable.
JB

Agree0 Disagree0

Just checking, has he really got 30 arms and no legs? Wow that's amazing!

it looks like we may be able to easily offer the out of the contracts that we want to keep the wages they want within reason with the new owners> mccormack clayton and white + snoddy who only has a yr left

Believable9 Unbelievable3

That would be good providing we dont give them more than they are worth, i dont care how much or how little money we end up with lets not go back Seth Johnson's day, whether we can afford it or not!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets not get carried away, we still know nothing and it wouldn't surprise me if this was all another ken bates smoke screen that we've all fallen for before.

Agree0 Disagree0

If this blokes as wealthy as everyone reckons, we won't want McCormack, snoddy or any of them

Agree0 Disagree0

Other than snoddy, who wants more investment in the team, I would still offer them the same contract. Obviously they don't want to play for Leeds - just the money. If the investment/takeover goes through, hopefully we can afford better. Maltawhite

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with reply 2. bates has the ace in the hole and can pull the plug anytime, "dare to dream" at your peril untill the deal is done.

Agree0 Disagree0

If this is true it will be Messi and Ronaldo next season never mind Snoddy. Alonso and Casillas would be good additions to the squad too. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the interesting thing here is, assuming there is a takeover that we all hope for happens, how will the players that are purely mercenaries react?. We will all know that they are only there for the money and not for LUFC, Snoddy possibly being the exception as he has stated that he wants some ambition from the club. ( don't we all !! ) DB

Confirmed on Forest's website that the Kuwaiti guy is in talks to buy the club

Chalk him off our list

Believable9 Unbelievable9

Let's hope it was not him looking at Leeds, or we may be in for an almighty dissapointment.

He was the fridge salesman with little money, who cares. Our bidder is a bigger cheese altogether. Judging by the interview with `lust on radio leeds.they sound very optimistic. HAPPY DAYS! MOT

I agree lets hope not just couldant stand the thought of ken been here for the next seven years dhoooo

Agree0 Disagree0

Watford name their investor, Forest name their investor, but we still have no firm indication of who if anyone is interested in Leeds. I am a little cautious on this one.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was never on it, except to twitter people.

Agree0 Disagree0

Forest k**b, we are the bigger club ,bigger city and al whatever his name is was never connected with us, he's small time ,thats why he went for forest

Agree0 Disagree0

I love it, when the rumour mill first started the Leeds fans were all saying that fawaz al hawasi was a multi billionaire and he would choose leeds over forest as they are a bigger and better club. You all look a bit silly now. The consortium that is headed by hawasi has funds that runs in to tens of billions. Dirty leeds need to be realistic and understand your not a great as you think and with ken bates there you will never get taken over nor will you be a success on the field.

Lufc have indeed been bought by Sheikh Mohammed.
Fee approx £60million, includes ER and TA (bates owned them all along pocketing the rent)

A return to Champions League Football in 5 years.

I am not claiming that you heard it here first but I am backing up previous posts. Colin will have money to spend now and "whatever he needs" in January to gain promotion.

Believable11 Unbelievable11

I hope you are right, because Forest have Fawaz in the bag, i hope it does not mean Fawaz dropped Leeds when Bates started being clever, and turned to Forest instead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop the Colin posts, he's our manager and deserves respect.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is there a genuine source of this, if so where? - it's on Wiki but then on there the moon is actually made out of cheddar !

And can we stop using the term C**** ?

Agree0 Disagree0

And what evidence do you have to back up your claim? Or should we maybe just smile politely?

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love this to be true and it is as likely as any other rumor if not more so .
He did look at leeds some years back 2y I think and LUST did say it is someone that had looked to takeover Leeds in the past so that bit would fit.

Also Mohammed as links to Duncan Revie who fronted the attempt at a takeover by Mohammed but Bates valuation at the time was outrageous apparently.

Duncan Revie will have contacts within LUST so they would know who it is though him .On top of this Mohammeds brother owns Man city who have just won the prem league so could be some sibling rivalry there.

All speculation I know and maybe I'm making things fit as it would be hell of a result for us

Tog

Agree0 Disagree0

How can it be genuine? we are in the middle of a confidentiality clause! time will tell

Agree0 Disagree0

Should read just bought the title for man city

Agree0 Disagree0

He's our manager and we can call him what we like. Colin fits perfectly, I could think of a lot worse after what he has said about us in the past! And the way he berates young kids for being sent off (undeservedly) in front of everyone in the ground, live on tv, I would say Colin was very apt

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Colin is king of endearing when you think about it. I like the guy but only since he came to mighty Leeds! Let's face it you wouldn't have liked him as a teacher at school, in fact i think I know quite a few "Colin's" include my grandad, whom I am rather fond of.

An article on YEP has stated that Nottingham Forest are not interested in bringing Neil Warnock to the City Ground, just to squash some of the rumours.

A bit of interesting information is that amid rumours of this takeover a popular betting website has upped Leeds to joint second favourites to WIN the championship. (sounds like FryBet)

Believable6 Unbelievable2

The prospective new owner of Forest said he wanted someone from QPR when he took over an English club and everyone 'GUESSED' he meant Warnock - seems he wants Gianni Paladini (ex QPR Chairman) as his UK rep and not our manager. Just press / fans getting the wrong end of the stick.

Just heard on radio beckford on his way back to where he belongs some time soon MOT!

Believable16 Unbelievable6

Not another one longing for a Beckford return... is he coming back to be a bench warmer ala Everton and Leicester? Could it be that you're the one Beckford fan who keeps posting using different names?

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt he is coming back to leeds personally.

Agree0 Disagree0

No you didn't as it would be all over the place if that had been said, stop making things up!

Agree0 Disagree0

My first ever time i posted anything , but it did come on the radio about him cominig back

Agree0 Disagree0

Back to Chelsea, not sure he'd make the squad personally.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the 1st reply your obv one of the fans who didn't go to games in league 1. Who didn't see Beckford at his best, then obv when mentioning Everton doesn't realise he came off the bench most of the times and still scored a lot of goals in that league for his 1st attempt there, plus 2 beauts against Chelsea! He would be welcomed back to ER by the majority of fans, well all of the loyal ones anyways!
RyanMOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't hit a barn door, he'll do us more good being in leicesters starting 11

Agree0 Disagree0

Was beckford not evertons top scorer?, hardly a bench warmer

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not a beckford fan, he is so lazy, but when he and beckeo played together they made each other, so if he came back with some solid m/f players i think it would be a good strike force

Agree0 Disagree0

Please can we stop the get Beckford back bandwagon, yes he did well for us in league 1 i might add, but he didn't do much at leicester last season and if they dont want him because he's not good enough why would we want him?

Agree0 Disagree0

To all those beckford doubters get a grip. Top scored at everton 15 last season with a manager who didn't like him. You doubters obviously didn't see him on the last day of the season. Looked twice the player to when he left. Come home jermaine and prove your doubters wrong. Maybe if we get taken over they'll even come to games! So many plastic Leeds fans on here. Cm84

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford did fairly well at Everton and was never really given a chance by Moyes. Pearson never really wanted Beckford and Beckford has never really been happy there. I for one think that he would jump at the chance to rejoin the mighty Leeds as he knows how much he enjoyed it last time. Can't really blame him for chancing his arm in the Premier League when the opportunity came up. Anyone else would have done the same

Leeds United investment from Middle East 'close'
Leeds United Supporters' Trust believes the potential investment in the club could happen next week, with the money coming from the Middle East.

The Championship club, who were bought by Ken Bates in 2011, have granted an exclusivity agreement with one potential investor.

"We think now that the deal is all but done," Supporters' Trust chairman Gary Cooper told BBC Radio Leeds.

"Due diligence is maybe a bit further on than the club suggested."

Use accessible player and disable flyout menusHe added: "I think there are just the formalities now and we should be hearing something sooner rather than later."

The exclusivity period granted allowed the investor to carry out due diligence, with a club statement saying they were "very comfortable" they have the financial resources to support the club. announcment due next week but cloud be beforethen

Believable9 Unbelievable5

IF this is true I so hope we draw Man City, Man Utd or Chelsea - if you'll pardon the expression - in some cup competition. Couldn't care less about the result. Just want to wave banknotes at their supporters for fun

The Middle East money is not from Al Hasawi, on the NFFC website that he has been granted exclusivity while due dilegance is carried out at Forest.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Well you were not listening very well then were you? At no point did he mention The King of Dubai! He said he thought the investment eminated from the Middle East, but was not totally sure if this was the case. Have your little fantasies, but don't post made up rubbish!

Rumour is that it is the owners of LA Galaxy - This is what's been reported on the News Streams aroundd the world.

The deal announced on the official site with the Compass Group has led to increased speculation that ‘AEG’ could be the surprise front runners in the deal. The American based group have several UK sports teams but are probably best known as the owners of LA Galaxy and it would be a good fit to get them into English Football.

Still, only a rumour - but has to be a better one than some of the rubbish spouted here in the last week or so.

MOT

Believable2 Unbelievable13

It well documented now that the new Owners are Middle Eastern

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets all be calm amid the excitement and not have a go at each other.
It is true that all the current speculation is that the new owner is funded from the middle east.
It is also strange that in the midst of all this we have 2 major new corporate partners, 1 of whom is linked to AEG who own/invest in LA Galaxy and Houston Dynamos amongst other sporting clubs, most of whom have catering provided by Levy Restaurants.
Perhaps there is no link and indeed it is all middle eastern - lets just wait and see

It can't be just me who has heard this but IF and only IF, we are taken over by a billionaire arab consortium with limitless funds to spend on players, are they really gonna want Colin spending their money? He's good at this level but got no proven experience at the highest level and always worked on a shoestring, have heard he may be on his way before he gets a chance to see out the last year of his contract. Hope not TBH.

Baywhite

Believable7 Unbelievable16

Nah he wont my guess is the prospective owners have been in contact with the club for longer than we think.
they probably asked for NW to be made manager over SG

Agree0 Disagree0

Isnt he just contracted till the end of next season? Or am I wrong?? MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

We can change manager when we get to prem league

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree massively. warnock wants one last promotion or one last 'hoorah' he is the best at doing this at this level, his contract runs out next summer and if he has done his job then he will leave on good terms and THEN we will get a new manager

Agree0 Disagree0

Neil had a lot of cash to spend at QPR in the Championship and he is the most proven manager at getting teams out of this division. The first job for any new owners, billionaires or not, is to get Leeds into the Premier League

Agree0 Disagree0

Please dont under estimate Warnock....I truly believe he will not only get us up but will continue with us in the premiership. He fits Leeds perfectly and understands the fanbase and expectations of the club. We dont need an AVB ....we need Warnock to be left alone to do his job. Leeds Leeds Leeds!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its simple for a billionaire:
1) Grayson gets you out of league 1
2) Warnock gets you out of championship
3) Jose Mourinho gets you prem title

Thought warnock was retiring at end of contract anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

Getting out of the Championship isn't about spending millions and millions its about knowing and getting the right type of player to get you there and that is why Warnock is here.
Sven and Leicester through money at it as have others in the past and there is little or no guarantee this will work.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wazza warnock had very little cah at qpr mate.please let us have some real money behind us!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Buying players to get out of the Championship is a diff world than to staying in the Premiership. Multiply the budget by 10. NW getting us up and saying goodbye on a high would probably suit both parties very well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Warnock is the man to get us out of here and were we belond hes proved that come on you whites cant wait for season to start.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree in part, Warnock knows what it takes in the Champ, and expensive players isnt the key. I think some money will go in o getting the right payers but i dont think theiy are the big name signings just tried and tested/or hungry young ones. The time to spend some cash will be once we are in the prem, staying their will be tough and thats when the quality will be needed, QPR were lucky this season, but is seems swansea and Norwich got it right. We wont become a Man C over night, but it will be great to see it eventually happen. Id also like the idea of NW having a good transitional season in the Prem to prove the doubters wrong then we can get a manager who can deliver in the top filght!
KarlT

Agree0 Disagree0

Depends who's in charge of the group taking over ... if it's middle east money behind the takeover there are a couple of interesting links, 1 ... Duncan Revie and 2 ... David O'Leary managed in the middle east following his departure from Aston Vanilla and he said on his departure from Leeds that he would love to manage the club again at some point in the future. Revie as chairman and O'Leary as manager when Neil Warnock retires?

Agree0 Disagree0

Warnock failed in his first task. And it was a big FAIL. He got QPR up because he was allowed to spend £1m on Taarabt. A great player in a poor team, in a poor league. Warnock got lucky then, but lightning doesn't strike twice. Florist are welcome to him. Get someone better in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like many Leeds supporters, I would welcome back O'Leary with open harms. However, Warnock has stated this is his last year, he has the credentials to do the job regardless of money. The best solution would be a transition period akin to that of Sgt Wilko in 1989 when we go up with average priced, good players and then spend the money to concolidate in the first season with better players before improving gradually to challenge for honours.

Agree0 Disagree0

I for one would never want to see DO return - wasted a lot of money & lost dressing.

Harry Rednapp for me please - not that i think he would come

It will most probably be "Sheikh Mohammed" (Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum) for several reasons:
1) He is a well known Horse racer in this country and spends a lot of time at York Races.
2) He is the King of Dubai and at 62 he will have probably met Don Revie when he was national manager, so theres a good chance Duncan could have links - (Previous takeover attempt in 2007 involved him)
3) His son in law is Shiekh Mansour (THE MAN CITY TYCOON)
4) Shiekh Mohammed is RICHER than Mansour -
5) Theres a good chance his son in law has been boasting about City and Mohammed has purchased a bigger starting club (History + one club city + worldwide support) to compete and shut him up.

Believable21 Unbelievable11

Anyone buying Leeds at around 60 million would be able to flip for at least four times that in the premiership

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that this post could well be true, lust's garry cooper interviewed on bbc news now, when asked if it would be right to say the consortium is from the middle east he said 'i believe that would be correct and when asked about the wealth of the new owner he said he doesnt know the ins and outs but believes leeds fans can now 'dare to dream BIG!' only problem is pappa smurf has last say on deal as he's majority share holder.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would seriously love this to be true!!

Agree0 Disagree0

When Shiekh Mansour was taking over man city it was quite well known in the press that they were getting bought over buy a billionaire. I can even remember someone speaking for Shiekh Mansour listed the types of players they would be interested in. It kinda seems strange that if we were getting bought over by a billionaire that news would of flooded through by now on who it is. Whoever we get it will be an improvement, lets not get our hopes up because if its not a billionaire we don't want everyone feeling flat after getting their hopes up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does any one on here actually really care what LUST say or do? They have no say, no sway on proceedings, they are not connected to Leeds United, apart from giving us bad press with demos etc against the club, Will never have a seat on the board (and why should they be allowed to). In short, they are causing trouble at Leeds United and i am not sure wht they are been given air time regarding the takeover. LUST probably know as much as i do about it all!!

I hope this is true and then all these tractor boys round can will be gutted well pretty much everyone will be except us an also were after beckham supposedly on a 1yr contrat

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure on the rumour but if I recall correctly Sheik Mohammad was the guy who outbid Caspian back in '96 but was rebuffed due to what was speculated to be "old school tie" connections.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really hope Duncan Revie is the front man - he will have a passion for the club as well as a business head. Sure he'll want to lead us back to where his Dad took us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've heard of an overactive imagination but this is the mother of all........This takes the biscuit - though it would have to be a Halal one?!

Agree0 Disagree0

To the anti-LUST guy post. I suppose you reckon Old Ken 'saved' LUFC as well, and turned us into a viable proposition for purchase? To discount LUST's role in getting a purchaser would be disingenuous and to slag them off for wanting the best for LUFC would be criminal. Ah! criminal? Ken, put the keyboard down.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Just because Bates is hated doesnt take away the following facts..1/ we were on our backsides when he took over..2/ we are now being sold for a lot of money(so says even LUST) that means whether you like it or not Bates HAS taken a knackered club and turned it into a very sale-able company..end-of!

Agree0 Disagree0

To the guy who claims that LUST have no more knowledge of the takeover than any other LUFC fan, wasn't it LUST that let the Takeover news slip in the first place? And wasn't this because they had a big involvement in finding potential investors? Clueless pal.

people need to listen to the latest lust interview, the chairman has basically confirmed the takeover is done and it will be announced next week .

he also stated, when asked, that middle eastern links are accurate, but couldn't comment on their financial situation

Will you please be able to get a link for us as i am unable to find the interview??

Roblufc84

Agree0 Disagree0

Its on the bbc website, find it via news now pal

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't bother with the link, Gary Coper has absolutely no idea at all what is going on. If you listen carefully he says he doesn't even know if the people he have talked to are even bidding. He is just trying to make LUST sound important, they are not. He is even trying to make out his Fans Prospectus was instrumental in bringing new investment... it was not.

The takeover at #lufc appears to be reaching its end-game. I understand that the deal with a group from the Middle East is all but done

It's weekend in the Middle East ..... Maybe expect Monday.

Gary cooper on Radio Leeds also confirmed this.

Believable11 Unbelievable6

Sunday is a working day in the Middle East so a July 1st announcement is still a possibility.

Agree0 Disagree0

Weekend in the Middle East is Thursday and Friday so announcement could well happen over the weeekend from that perspective.

takeover will be completed soon , i know aidan revie duncans son and he said he hasnt spoke to him in a little while but last time he was in leeds they met up and duncan told him he is fronting a takeoever and was head of communication between leeds and the middle eastern group he will be on the board as will harvey and lorimer also

Believable5 Unbelievable11

I wasn't too sure about this rumours at first it didnt seem to have much too it but maybe it was just my lack of knowlage. I wondered where the middle east links came from, I didnt realise Don had gone on to manage UAE national team and other middle east teams. And wasnt sure of Duncans credentials as a consortium front man. Chances are hes a leeds fan and looking into his global football networking and events company it seems very logical that he would be perfectly placed to find internation buyers. Exciting times

Agree0 Disagree0

Rubbish - Aidan Revie has been very clear that he doesn't know anything about it

Agree0 Disagree0

That is rubbish as Aidan has had no contact with his dad in 6yrs and that is fact.
