Apologies to RMC everyone as he states he will never leave and will honour his present contract

Believable38 Unbelievable18

He has to honour his contract, if i'm not mistaken he did put pen to paper NOT so long ago ;)

Agree1 Disagree0

Think you'll find that a contract in football is as good as toilet paper .
I think if Mc D goes then Ross will use that as an excuse to go to the premier .
He has done really well and had it not been for him we would be down of that I'm sure, but I'm not convinced he will or would do as well in prem up against fast defenders week in and out .
look at bec at Norwich! he can't even get off subs bench how many goals did he score

Agree2 Disagree3

Regardless of McDermott going or staying if cellino doesn't agree to sell Ross then i'm afraid he won't be going anywhere

Agree4 Disagree0

Cynical lot

Agree1 Disagree0

Think it's a massive boost that our best player is showing faith in our club, pity we didn't have more players like that

Agree3 Disagree0

Think he said he wouldn't ask to leave, would only leave if club accepted offer

Agree1 Disagree0

Football contracts are loaded in favour of the employee. Players or managers can't be sacked however poorly they perform, but the player or manager don't feel obliged to honour them.

Agree3 Disagree0

Big difference between Ross and Beccio. Ross has a lot more skill. he is a scorer as well as a provider. can't compare the two

He didn't say he would never leave, he said he would never ASK to leave, great news, BUT why does he keep bringing it up all the time? I think he is putting it out there that if a club makes an offer and its accepted its he clubs fault for accepting, don't get me wrong the lads quality, but it just makes me suspicious. MOT

Agree4 Disagree1

"look at bec at Norwich! he can't even get off subs bench how many goals did he score"

I think you'll find he can't even get ON to the subs bench these days.

Agree4 Disagree0

Saying and doing are 2 different things.
But staying that, I don't think he will have to ask to leave. If a bid of £6m+ comes in for him they will accept it. Just hope the club reinvest the whole amount into the team, as it certainly needs it.

Agree1 Disagree1

I live in Essex (no I don't sound like a plastic cockney)so I don't get to see as many games as you guys so I bow to your better knowledge .
I rely on this forum for info and your opinion on games, players etc.
Many top scoring strikers(champ) have failed to make there mark in the prem .
As for Bec at Norwich to be honest I have not watched them as late, so I consider my self corrected!

Agree1 Disagree0

Regarding players contracts being useless!

The contracts are as strong as the club to whom the player is contracted to, look at Saurez in pre-season trying to push a move to arsenal.
Liverpool stood strong, showed they wanted him to stay and he had NO option but to honour his contract.

Agree2 Disagree0

Answer to AndMOT:. only because arsenal came in with a 40mil and 1 pound offer to trigger his get out clause, which liverpool thought was taking the mickey. now if arsenal came in with a 45-50mill. he'd be playing for arsenal by now. its just when the time is right.

Reading have released a statement that mcanuff, ligertwood and gorks are it renewing there contracts and will be free agents at the end of the season! I can see BMCD going for 2 of them if he ends up staying as manager!

Agree1 Disagree0

A.S
You said £40+ mill was enough to trigger a get out clause WHY didn't he go?
If the clause was triggered in his contract (as you stated above) he was free to talk to Arsenal?
Liverpool said YOUR GOING NOWHERE youve got a contract and your staying, Saurez had NO option but to honour the contract he signed.
If a players got a contract and the club want him to stay NOTHING the player can do but to honour it.

Agree1 Disagree1

The Suarez case shows that you guys make the same mistake as Suarez's own agent.
The 40 million Arsenal bid was enough to trigger a clause whereby the player was then allowed to speak to the prospective buying club. the clause was not a break point at which Liverpool had to accept the bid as Suarez and his gent had understood.
At any point, Suarez could have put in a transfer request and a potential bidding war may have started to increase the price but, Liverpool didn't really want to sell and were not compelled to accept any offer. Suarez is a proven goal-scorer.
However, Suarez did NOT put in a transfer request as this would have jeapordised the 'loyalty' bonuses written into his contract. This is the same reason that Wayne Rooney would continually bleat about wanting to leave Man U through his agent but, would never actually force the situation himself by requesting a transfer as the club could then withhold a payment of x million for his continued loyalty (not handing in a transfer request).
Ross can say what he likes to the press but, if a concrete offer comes in from a respected mid-table Prem club, he'll be hoping the club accept though would probably not say so publicly for fear of both the fans backlash and missing out on 'loyalty' payments.
There is simply no room for loyalty in football.

Didnt I just say that in far less words?

{Ed013's Note - Good Morning everyone, after a weekend of aches and pains I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thanks to everyone that helped and donated for the charity event that I was involved with last week. Nearly 400 miles we cycled from Leeds, via Harrogate, York, Sheffield, Cambridge, London and finishing in Colchester all in 4 days. We have so far raised over a £1000 for Macmillan cancer and that figure is still raising. The hardest thing I have ever done, but well worth it. Once again a massive thanks from all 12 of us. Martyn is chuffed to bits with the support, I just need to convince him to be a Leeds fan now! MOT}

Ed I wish I had known I live in Colchester .

{Ed013's Note - I cycled in and after a quick change got a lift back up to Yorkshire mate so wasn't there long}

Well dun ed no hijacking the tour de France this year hope you got no punctures

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - Thanks mate, I got all the way to London and then some idiot went into the back of me and popped my rear tyre!}

Congratulations lads! Quality effort!

Ed. Is there any chance now I'm registered you can help put me in contact with other members from Suffolk or Colchester (my home town) as I'd really love to get up to more games but its costs about 100 a week all told by train and I don't think I've got the energy to bike it ;)

If you could just ask for be just the once I'd be really grateful. Sorry to be a pain

{Ed001's Note - would you like us to add the option to put that kind of information on your registered profile? So you could get an idea who else is in your area, or to put a message mentioning you are looking for transport to games etc? For now, putting it in a post on the site, asking people who can help to give us their contact details to pass on to you might be the only short term help we can give.}

Well done ed. Great effort for an equally good cause. My family have been directly affected by cancer and have experienced the lovely caring heroins that make up the Macmillan nurses. I will be doing a series of marathons this year (seriously) to help raise money although sadly not in my prized shell suit. I doff my cap to you. good man!

{Ed013's Note - Thanks Mick, the support has been great. Well worth such an important cause}

Well done ed!

I too wish I had known as I am based in horsey town (Newmarket) and only a short bike ride away from Cambridge.

Could of called over for a beer.

Suffolk whites. I too would like to get to a few more games but having migrated south a few years ago too find it difficult.

Congrats once again Ed
