Matt mills will not join leeds, come on guys he is good but his cost and wages will be too much for bates

Believable22 Unbelievable10

I think its all relative in that sense. I think that if we sign a Matt Mills at the top end of our wage budget, it will mean an opportunity cost on signing another player on those type of wages i.e. Beckford

TeejLUFC

Agree0 Disagree0

He may have to lower his wage if he wants to play football so we may be able to get him signed. i don't see him as the type of player to just want to watch football

Agree0 Disagree0

Na i reckon leeds can sign him, i mean who wouldnt want to play for a mars bar every week, and if he scores a bag of peanuts?

George Boyd- Quick, good dribbling skills, can find te net on the occasion, a team player but has been inconsistent this season, if he is to help Leeds push for promotion he needs be perform at his best week in week out. Hopefully this rumours has some truth so it'll stop all the Diouf rumours.

Believable20 Unbelievable13

George Boyd -Quick? Dont think so mate, if anything I would say slow which is why im not believing the rumours unless he happens to be snoddys replacement and snoddy is on his way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Almost certain to be Snoddy's replacement. half a mil for Boyd, 5 mil for Snoddy. like for like plus a "war chest" for Neil.

Agree0 Disagree0

What happened to the war chest from last season kasper, jonny and max all sold for a combined fee of about 5mill with pugh and lonners coming in for a combined fee of about 800k plus 500k for pearce so thats 1.3mill so we should have 3.5 to 4mill left so lets spend that instead and keep snoddy and clayton. Here's an idea lets try and swap painter for calderon and that would be a right back sorted and no money spent!

Agree0 Disagree0

He might not be quick, but every time i have seen him play i have been very impressed. Would be a great addition to the team, versatile and not too expensive also.

TeejLUFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Peterborough rate him highly and wouldn't accept anything lower than about 1.5 million. we need pace on the wings so probably not the best option though

Agree0 Disagree0

Good L1 player average champo player, if he was that good he would be at Norwich alrealdy lol the only players im interested in from boro are McCann and Taylor although taylor will prob end up at a prem club and McCann is getting on abit.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not a big fan of him, but I wouldn't be disappointed if he came. I'd rather have Ambrose or Whittingham though.

What if the rumoured deal for Beckford & Mills is pretty much a straight swap for McCormack & Clayton. Would seem a fair deal to me.
I know McCormack's our top scorer but so was Beckford.
IMO Warnock's not that keen on the wee Scott.
What's your opinoin? Personally I would swap.

Believable14 Unbelievable17

McCormack's scored more goals than Beckford and does more for the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would swap, Becchio hasn't been the player he used to be since Beckford left

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't remember the last time I saw a transfer which was a straight double swap deal!!

Agree0 Disagree0

McCormack i wudnt swap for anyone hes one of the best players ive seen in the championship if he got quicker he wud be sheer dynamite

Agree0 Disagree0

Really becchio was not good in the first season in championship ?
i suppose 20 goals in a season his pretty crap .loser ,wake up .
becchio as only had a bad season because he was injured and has taken time to get over it. his confidence in his hamstring was knocked ,he will be awsome next season and probably get 20- 30 goals . as for swap mccormack i would rather swap snoddy . everything mccormack tried worked this season and he will be the player to get us promoted next season. too many idiots on here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mccormack can play in different positions so why would you want to let him go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Double swap when was last time you seen one of those? last time i seen one was when i was playing football manager when i was Barcelona manager

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford scored more goals in League One ! Look at the stats this season and who had notched more times in the Championship.

Agree0 Disagree0

Becchio does a good job of holding the ball up,and with the right service will score 20per season.Warnock will go with pace up front with him.Ross to go or possibly place on bench

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you'll find warnock IS keen on mccormack. and to the second post - beckford scored shedloads...... this not doing enough for the team stuff is rubbish if you're scoring 30 a season (see Mr A Clarke for further example)

Agree0 Disagree0

McCormack getting quicker..... thats not possible for hardly any player... its the only think you cannot coach... pace and we need some. Whilst i cannot stand Beckfords attitude he does have pace and thats what caused defenders the problems. Mills and Beckford for Clayton and McCormack would be brilliant for us BUT due to wages i cannot see this happenening

Agree0 Disagree0

To me mccormack has been our light at the end of the tunnel this season and we need a man like him, he's the one wholl create that little bit of magic you need when things do not go your way, i say swap clayton as his departure in inevitable

Agree0 Disagree0

If Warnock doesn't like McCormack why has been offered a new contract?

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford is 1 year into a 4 year deal and leicester paid 2.5 million for him. his wages are rumoured to be 20k a week. he wont be coming back. also hes not a prolific enough goal scorer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where do u get maccs scored more goals than beckford. how long you been sopporting lufc. mot4life

Agree0 Disagree0

NW would never sign a player as lazy as Beckford. He was willing to sell Taraabt this season and he was QPR's best player when they got promoted.

Agree0 Disagree0

McCormack is best player we got hes like a poor wayne rooney. i personally would not be that bothered if snoody left aslong as we got the money to spend he lacks pace

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2012 19:53:46
Halford,Norris+Varney ment to be signing by the end off the week

if clayton does go i think warnock should place a cheeky swap bid for bamba mills and beckford for clayts and 1 mill.

Believable13 Unbelievable16

Claytons poooo mate compared to all three of them i wouldnt accept clayton and 1 mil for beckford, never mind other 2.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think we would be able to cope with Beckford/Bamba and Mills wage. Not that i believe that is the only thing wrong with that suggestion lol

TeejLUFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think bamba is good enough for the mighty whites...mills is a good shout though...dont think beckford will come back solely because bates has rejected him twice this year

Seyi Olofinjana to sit in front of the back 4 anyone?

Believable7 Unbelievable18

Would love to see him I posted similar a few weeks ago

Agree0 Disagree0

Been saying same thing for ages...

Not been playing for Hull either.
Bet he is on a decent £££

Agree0 Disagree0

He would be a good addition but NW seems to like Brown a lot

Our current squad, assuming we sell all our listed players, is weak. Let's have a look and see what we actually need.

GK: Lonergan, Cairns (if we're struggling get a loanee) NONE NEEDED
RB: None (Lees as RB back up)
1 NEEDED
CB: Pearce, Kisnorbo, Lees, Bromby (injured)
1 NEEDED
LB: Charlie Taylor
1 NEEDED, AIDY WHITE AND PUGH AS BACKUP FOR HIM
RM: Snodgrass, Rogers
NONE NEEDED, SECURE SNODDY'S DEAL
CM: Thompson, Brown, Pugh
2 NEEDED, ONE TO PLAY HOWSON ROLE, ONE TO PLAY CLAYTON ROLE
LM: White (Backup Pugh)
1 NEEDED
ST: Becchio, McCormack, Somma
1 NEEDED

SEVEN PLAYERS NEEDED FROM NOW:

Come on Warnock, get us the right players and we're going up!

Believable14 Unbelievable11

Also a playmaker to help us keep the ball becasue we do lose it a lot.

And i think we need 1 more defender =P

are att is good but we let in fat to many goles.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where is pearce in that squad? we just signed him!

tommo MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Charlie Taylor is not ready for the first team, hes to small and is not strong enough (yet).

Agree0 Disagree0

Tommo you need to go to specsavers, pearce in his list

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha lol yeh he is haha!

id just woken up im on nights!

soz to original poster!

tommo MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Need a GK to put pressure on Lons. Need a RB, a LB and a CB plus likely a utility guy who can cover both fullback positions. Need 2 if not 3 CMs with 1 being a defensive stalwart, 1 being attack minded and 1 being a good all rounder, need a LM, if not 2 and need another Stk with pace. All in all I think we need 10 more players minimum. Seriously!

Agree0 Disagree0

We dont need a gk i think Lonergan is good and are def was poor

Agree0 Disagree0

NW has already stated that Taylor is going to be loaned out next season for 1st team experience

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Leeds should try and sign Joe mattock he is a brilliant defender and can play in the problem left back position

Believable8 Unbelievable10

No, he's not a brilliant defender. He's absolutely terrible. He's a thug as well, has it been forgotten that he punched 3 people on Church Gate in Leicester City Centre?

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a RB =P but i have seen him play and he is good.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi, good call, Mattock is a good player as you say, and fits the bill nicely, talented, quick, keen and ambitious, he just needs to be settled in a team that will give him regular games, and boy, does he know how to tackle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hitting 3 people just means he`s good with his hands as well as his feet .thats just what we need,a good allrounder.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi, so he assaulted three people you say, my goodness, I take it all back. That must make him the only footballer to have ever to have done such a thing. And so that makes him a terrible player.
Heaven forbid that a Leeds player ever commit such a crime.
There is no way Leeds would play ever think of playing someone with a criminal conviction.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the original poster - Are you too young to remember the "Leeds United on trial" episode back 2000?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mattock + warnock + doif = nobody wanting to play at elland road = championship

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2012 15:07:46
whether Clayton stays or goes i think we need a couple of decent midfielders who we can rely on to do well in this league..Norris would be ok but maybe someone like Scott Dobbie who will get goals or jonjo shelvey from Liverpool(even if either were on the dreaded loan)could also do with an older head in there to play alongside either of those someone like Barry ferguson who can sit/hold control a game

Believable4 Unbelievable13

Hi not sure about Norris, Shelvey or Ferguson, but I agree about Scott Dobbie. He is a maverick, great ball control, and a brain, I could see him and Robert causing mayhem together.

Agree0 Disagree0

I cant see us getting Shelvey. he's gunna break through into Liverpool 1st team next season

Heard from a source close to Aidy White that he ISNT signing the new contract and will be signing for a Premiership Club on the 1st july, he is deciding between Norwich and Newcastle.

Believable24 Unbelievable9

I don't think he'll sign at all, he'll probably end up at Norwich like the rest of our promising players

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally i'd let him go, very overated, gets caught out a lot and not really got a position, not strong enough to be a left back and not threatening enough to be a winger

Agree0 Disagree0

If its true then he is why we only finished where we did in the league as he dont want to play for team so i say good ridance to him and any other rats who want to jump ship

Agree0 Disagree0

Spoke to Aidy White today at Roundwood (Parkgate FC's ground) while watching Thackley beat Shirebrook Town 3-1 this afternoon and he said he's staying at Leeds and will sign his contract soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont know how anyone can give a player abuse for wanting better for them selves by moving to prem league when they have no contract . fair enough if they had a few yrs remaining and asked to move give them as much abuse as poss

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey if we get 1-1.5m compensation for him then great let him go. Very over-rated IMHO

Agree0 Disagree0

Its fine both ways - if he stays or if he goes
He is a good enough squad player but over rated - like Clayton he goes a.w.l.
The money from both could buy better replacements and that is why Warnock's strategy is clever - IF he gets the right replacements.

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think anyone can complain about wanting to leave leeds anymore, we show no ambition and players want to achieve. Bates is the one killing the club not the so called rats who jump ship. bates pays peanuts and dosent invest in the club, johnson, howson, beckford, kasper would all of stayed if club showed more commitment to them and getting where we should be. And on white i think he is poor. He is quick but thats it. he can not tackle and doesnt know how to defend which is why he is often out of position, NW played him as a right winger but pass is poor and he can not finish or cross and he is not young enough to be considered a prospect. I'd take a million for him better players out there for half of that if bates puts his fat finger into his cheuque book

Getting Somma back for a good preseason could be as good as a new signing. Thoughts please
Went to see Don and very impreessed with the statue, a fantastic tribute to a great manager
Heard at the shop today Leeds should be finalising 2 deals before the end of May. No names

Believable20 Unbelievable5

Agree, hopefully the time out will not have had a detrimental effect and not playing could make him hungrier, so he puts himself about a little more. Closest we have a natural goal scorer.

MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good player and could be one of are strongest players next season, if he can loose the tag of super sub to super starter. class i say

Agree0 Disagree0

A natural goal scorer yes but not sure his work rate or hold up play will suit NW style

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds best possible summer signings, Mcgregor, Mills, lafferty and Beckford 1 for every position sorted. Not a rumour btw jus common gosip!

Believable12 Unbelievable8

We will not get beckford back, we sold him and to buy him for more than we sold him for would be a bad move

Agree0 Disagree0

Mills and beckford cost 9m between them and will be on huge wages for this division,people need to get real,who we would like as fans and who we get as a club will be 2 different things {Ed020's Note - i think there both on around £25k a week, not massivly huge if there willing to take a paycut then increase if we get back to pl.}

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance are they worth £9m between them get real, beckford been a let down since leaing us and can see he wants back in, mills would be the one who'd be hard to get with price tag

Agree0 Disagree0

GK: Kusczak/Kenny

RB: Lichaj/Gunter/Halford

CB: Whitbread/Mills/Bamba/Chambers

LB: Elokobi/Lewington/ Papac

CM: Ambrose/Whittingham/Clingan / Green (utility)

RW/LW: Adomah/ Templeton/ Boyd/ Diouf

CF: D.J.Campbell/ Bothroyd / Beckford (subject to wages)

Not saying sign all of these players by any stretch i'm a realist and realise there is an element of opportunity cost when signing football players. However a selection of players from this list, that i believe to be realistic targets for a club like ours, would be able to achieve promotion.

TeejLUFC

Believable19 Unbelievable6

Most sensible post ive seen, good quality realistic signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers buddy, just makes me chuckle a bit seeing posts that see us linked with the likes of Ricardo Fuller, Upson etc Especially with the introduction of the fair play rules the wages of players like the aforementioned are not economically sustainable

TeejLUFC

Agree0 Disagree0

TOTALLY AGREE

Lonergen was part of the problem

Ambrose would be a great signing

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently very little in transfer kitty and players will have to be sold to raise funds. Already Wednesday are likely to steal Paul Green as they can apparently offer better terms. So will have to make do with players on Bosman or loan signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd say keep lonners, so the keeper would only be backup but other than that, any of those would be quality affordable signings

Agree0 Disagree0

Realistic Team Next Season?

GK - A. Lonergan

RB - T.Lees
CB - M.Mills
CB - J.Pearce
LB - A.White

RM - R.Snodgrass
CM - S.Clingan
CM - D.Ambrose
LM - E.Diouf

ST - R. McCormack
ST - L. Becchio (Would love to see Beckford/Rodriguez)

SUBS - Somma, Kisnorbo, Brown, Pugh, Thompson, Green, Montgomery

Believable13 Unbelievable9

Definately dont want Diouf or Montgomery and we need a much better LB than Aidy White and Mills, Ambrose, Beckford and Rodriguez just arent going to happen to be perfectly honest with you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Swap Diouf for Whittingham and I'd be more than happy with that team

Agree0 Disagree0

1. Robinson

2. Neal Eardley
3. Ian Harte
5. J Pearce

7. Adel Taarabt/Diouf

10. Luciano Becchio

Why are we geting linked with loads of pompey players. geting 1 is fine but dont want norris, varney, halford, ward probs get linked with kanu next!. Not gd enough this season so why next season. Same with the sheff utd players with quinn and monty not good enough if we want a top 2 finsh next year. Why would harte wanna cum bk to use when hes getting a new contract at reading.

Believable9 Unbelievable7

Yeah, the reason why pompey weren't good enough was the whole squad/lack of squad depth and the deduction. Those 4 were good players last season, and they are of championship quality!

Agree0 Disagree0

Kinda agree with OP, take a couple but not all, Ward and Halford but Not Varney or Norris

Agree0 Disagree0

Because they are on the cheap and Bates loves a good deal!, whether the player is any good or NOT

Agree0 Disagree0

see while were all thinking of next season and whats more important to us fans "the football" papa wants a 2 floor casino in the west stand, when will it stop, were not in monaco now, next it will be a formula 1 racing circuit around beeston, concentrate on the football man, because us fans dont give a hoot about anything else down elland rd than the footy,

Believable16 Unbelievable7

Just look at stamford bridge you have to make the ground make money, not just once every two weeks, nothing wrong with that if he get behind warnock as well!

Agree0 Disagree0

I for one am very impressed and glad of Mr Bate's vision for ER.
The ground is shocking at the moment, every time I go to it I wait to be issued with a hard hat (nothing to do with the building work)!
We need to revamp the stadium because we will be back in the big time in a few years and we need a stadium to compete with The Ethiad, St James and Stamford Bridge.
Mr Bates is a buisness man and has no real interest in Leeds other than a company. I am fine with this, as he will not let us fail. He has a plan and we should all get behind him.
If I recall correctly isn't this how he began the transformation of Chelsea and they havn't done all that badly!

I honestly wouldn't be suprised if a similar thing like that happens to us. Why not? Massive team, famous name, buy cheap, soon to be a fantastic ground to match the fantastic facilities.

Believe me, the future is going to be good!

Agree0 Disagree0

What will the development take the capacity to?

Agree2 Disagree1

The West stand and casino development is a long way off.
There is only 1 casino licence on offer and there are 4 other bidders. The licence won't be granted until Spring 2013 and therefore even if successful it is unlikely that development would commence before 2014. The casino operator would likely fund the casino element of the build and probably a proportion of the shared facilities so reducing capital costs for the stand.

Paul Green on his way to Leeds, he didn't play Derbys last game of the season and wasn't even on the bench?? Any thoughts or other reasons he wasn't in the squad

Believable13 Unbelievable2

Might have an agreement to join us, or another club in fact! Or he might have been dropped. I for one wouldn't mind seeing him at Leeds as long as he gives his all

Swap deal. Bamba Beckford and Mills for Clayton plus cash?

Believable15 Unbelievable14

This rumour adds an extra player every time it's mentioned on here, pretty soon we'll have the entire Leicester team in exchange for Clayton + a million.

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford for clayton plus 500k is realistic. clayton's worth 1 million at most, whereas beckford cost 3 million, mills 4.5 million and bamba is worth 1 million ish. although all could well end up at leeds, it'll have to be on leicesters terms not ours.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be awesome but would have to be ALOT of cash

Agree0 Disagree0

We wont get beckford coz wage is to high for us we will get mills and bamba though

Agree0 Disagree0

That would be fantastic, but not gonna happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah ive heard something similar, Beckford and Mills for Clayton and £1M

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, that has to be a quite big amount of cash!

Agree0 Disagree0

No way Jose. Becks and Mills alone are worth Clayton 5 times over and then you wanna throw Bamba in too. How much we gonna throw at this deal........10m?

Agree0 Disagree0

Clayton has had 1 full season at championship level, Mills, Bamba and Beckford are all proven. Why would they do that?

Agree0 Disagree0

To join a much bigger club than leicester would be my guess.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would say with the players going we could pay the wage =P#

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets be realistic, if there is a swap/deal with Leicester on the cards it will be Clayton + cash for Matt Mills only. The defence is the priority as NW said

Very reliable source who told me that we was after Danny Pugh has said we have offered a contract to Rangers out of contract Left Beck Papac.

He told McCoist that he wants to leave Rangers for a new challenge.

Southampton have also apparently shown interest.

Believable5 Unbelievable9

I think Danny Pugh, has become our new Andy Hughes. He seems to be able to play every position on the pitch.

Have not heard much about Papac rumor. He must be knocking on now though surely, it seems like he has been playing for Rangers forever.
