Really looking forward to seeing how the team is setup on Saturday. I would just like to point out though that we shouldn't expect instant miracles, it may take a couple of weeks for the players to adapt to Jesse's style.

I am hoping they we will be much more organised in defence, and something tells me that Raph will be back to his best.

Hopefully Jesse will see Roberts for what he is and he'll be put on boot cleaning duty. Although, it's a fresh start for the whole squad and if Roberts is given a chance and takes it, I'll fully back the lad.

This is the most excited I've felt all season.

Come on Jesse, prove the doubters wrong and he our new hero.

Well what can you say Boro beat Spurs a championship club that should say a lot really why things had to change no more to say!

2.) 03 Mar 2022 07:00:23
I think the narrative is a little more complex than that Whiteman.

3.) 03 Mar 2022 11:00:41
Just watching last night the way a pretty average Norwich side with limited resources were set up defensively against Liverpool by Dean Smith and only lost 2-1 in the cup following a similar performance a week or so earlier losing 3-1 in the league and then Chris Wilder setting up Boro in a similar fashion with basic defending that you learn at schoolboy level and his team winning 1 nil against Spurs after overcoming Man U in the 4th round of the cup for the loss of just 1 goal does make you scratch your head why with the players Leeds have was our defensive record was so poor.
Hopefully then with a new approach orchestrated by Jesse Marsch Leeds can at least start to vastly improve on that side of things.

4.) 03 Mar 2022 11:29:09
Maybe Marschs' system will suit Roberts ;-)

Haven't posted in years, and then 2 posts in 2 days. I may yet become a regular.

Just wanted to say that I was impressed by Jesse's first interview. He's showed intelligence, respect and hunger, and I really hope he's a huge success. Obviously still disappointed to lose Bielsa, but I am pleased the club have gone for someone with a similar footballing style. This was always going to be the next move, so why not just embrace it now.

There are a few things I'd like Jesse to address right away, these are:

1. Squad:
Be more open to having a larger squad.
Make better use of younger players.
Don't wait half a season before playing a new or returning player.

2. Defence:
Don't be so reliant on man-marking. Mix it up a bit and plug the gaps we keep creating.
Teach the team how to defend set pieces.

3. Unforced errors:
My biggest bugbear is the number of times we needlessly give the ball away. Stop this and we'd instantly concede far less goals.

4. Attacking:
Play 2 strikers up top. How many times do we get the ball in or around the opposition's box but then have no one to pass to.
Once fully fit, I'd like to see BamBam and Joffy lead the line. It would be like Becchio and Beckford over again. BanBam holding the ball up and Joffy powering in on goal.

Sorry for waffling on. I don't have any other Leeds Fans around me, so it's nice to share my thoughts.

Hes already said he won't entertain man 2 man Danny so that's 1 change immediately.
2 up top is a strange 1 now to comprehend 🤣

We were all ao immersed in the bubs vision, will it / can it work with the 2 we have?

You feel it can, paddys work ethic and joffys bullishness .

The squad enlargement is. fundamental and i believe 100% jesse also believes that.

Its a very tough baptism of fire facing Jesse.

2.) 01 Mar 2022 10:39:14
Well said Danny. The only thing I would add/ ask is stop playing Roberts.

3.) 01 Mar 2022 13:20:19
The new approach by JM of 2 upfront will be interesting to see who he chooses straight away although it should be obvious that
Rodrigo and Gelhardt have the best attributes to fill these positions immediately and be a successful partnership.

Therefore Roberts can't be disguarded just yet as we have no other striker options and you never know it could surprise us all that as a sub playing as a 2nd forward up front Roberts could actually flourish. We'll see.

4.) 01 Mar 2022 13:27:08
I agree MW. Maybe Roberts could be more suited to two upfront, so definitely don’t write him off yet. That said, give him time to regain confidence, so it’s Rodders and Joffy for me too!

5.) 01 Mar 2022 13:58:03
The problem we could have with going 2 up top is that we have a very weak midfield, so it can cause us to lose the midfield and that puts pressure on our defence and cuts off the supply to the front 2. I'm concerned at only having a 4 man midfield as we lose the ball all the time already even with 5 in there.

6.) 01 Mar 2022 14:10:03
It is a 5 man midfield but with klich struggling to up to pace with any player he’s instantly out run, Rodrigo and Tyler are never really going to track back like a natural centre mid would and foreshaw did but again doesn’t have the running power to match up man for man. Think zonally marking with make it much easier for the slower players meaning we could probably drop to 4 midfielders no problems if not man marking.

7.) 01 Mar 2022 16:12:27
I would add: ease up the training. We need to have all hands on deck. As we had no incomings this window, and the squad is so thin.

8.) 01 Mar 2022 18:14:32
Good post Danny - Can't disagree with anything you said.

I was just pleased he didn't call it soccer.

9.) 01 Mar 2022 18:58:12
Marsch allegedly still works his players hard but not quite as hard as God.

10.) 01 Mar 2022 20:14:57
From the quote Class posted earlier, it would seem Marsch likes to rotate players too, which we know Bielsa tended not to, which may well also have contributed to the core group being seemingly physically and mentally shot.

Hello all,

I've been a user of the site for a very longer time (way before the days of Mad Mick and Servivor) , but haven't posted in ages.

Like the majority of fans I am saddened and disappointed to see Bielsa go, but you could see it coming, even back as far as Christmas. The performances just haven't been there this season and some players have been so inconsistent.

I didn't expect to get much from the likes of Man U or Liverpool etc, but to get thumped just illustrates the gap between us and them. But to lose against Newcastle and to be outplayed but an awful Everton team, that is what showed the need for change.

Some things that are bothering me are;

1. What is up with Raph? Has he had his head turned, or did he fall out with Bielsa. Are we going to see a revived player now?

2. In January, did the club not want to spend, or did Bielsa not want the players? If it was the later, it's more evidence as to why they made the decision they did.

3. Rodrigo. He's hardly shown anything to warrant the money we paid fo him apart from right at the end of last season. Do you think he could used as a No9 by the new coach and finally fulfill his potential.

Finally, I just wanted to say that I am personally grateful to Bielsa for all the not be brought. I hope everyone who uses this site is well and I hope we can unite under the new guy and lead our wonderful club to safety.

Danny.

Great post Danny it’s good to errr have you back.

Ahhh how we could do with the inside track of what’s going on from Jeff the survivor, wonder how mad micks sister in law has taken the news, sure mick is there to comfort her, in his Bielsa inspired shell suit.

2.) 28 Feb 2022 15:00:39
Good to have a semi new poster, and a nice intro post too Danny!

3.) 28 Feb 2022 16:04:59
Danny
1 Raph (in his head) is already playing for a "big club" avoiding injury and counting the days to seasons end
2 word is that MBs intransigence got him the sack. Players were offered but the man turned them down
3 there's the enigma for Marsch. Personally I would give Gelhardt a run til end of season (or Paddys return) .
Good to have you back Danny.

Frustrating game today. Some very dodgy decisions and the scoreline definitely flattered Palace.

I want to address the fans who have been slagging Bielsa and the players. I don't just mean on this site, it's all over social media. We've just been promoted and we all knew it wouldn't be easy, especially against the teams who will sit back and then counter. I think our good start to the season has risen expectations, but hopefully the last two games have brought everyone back down to earth with a bump. At this stage in our journey survival is all we should be looking at, stop the nonsense and get behind the coach and players.

I also came on hear earlier and saw BW moaning about Philips and saying we are better without him. Clearly conceding 8 goals in two games would suggest not. I'm not a regular poster to the site and don't want to cause any offence with my next sentence. But, isn't it about time that BW dropped the whole anti Philips things. Its becoming boring and quite frankly puts me off visiting the forum. Philips has been loyal to Leeds and has the respect of Bielsa and the England manager, maybe its time BW found someone else to moan about.

I'm glad there's an international break. Hopefully we can get Rodrigo back in and maybe Lorente. I think the players desperately need a break, let's then get all fired up for the Arsenal game. Keep believing people.

No Danny go do one, my opinion and it is valid.

As for slagging beslia the frustrating thing is that he is clearly brilliant but also makes silly mistakes and he makes them again and again

All Leeds fans know we are weak at set plays yet not been addressed in any way

Most Leeds fans agree cooper ain’t good enough yet he still plays

Most Leeds fans think Dallas ain’t good enough in middle of the park yet he still plays there.

So my frustration is not the mistakes it is the same mistakes and my frustration is that we can all predict what will happen and call the mistakes before they come. If we can see it, if the other managers can capitalise on it, if the pundits can call it why can’t belisa see it as he is great but stubborn

As for Phillips and the score line we kept a clean sheet without him. however when cooper plays we concede 4,3,4,4 goals when he don’t play we keep clean sheets
The answer is not playing Phillips especially agasknt fast teams. that is obvious the answer is not playing cooper he is the common denominator

So sorry if my posts bore you. But feel free to ignore them. it’s quite easy to do.

3.) 07 Nov 2020 22:52:41
Good Post Danny, remember Bermondsey said we wouldn’t win promotion with Phillips playing, that Bielsa was so bad he would have gone by last Christmas, that Phillips would never play for England and he was so confident of that he promised to get his arse tattooed if he did!
Bielsa is the reason we are back in the premiership, yes he makes mistakes ad do we all, including Bermondsey with most of his flamboyant dramatic predictions and statements. I trust B from Argentina more than the B from Bermondsey!

4.) 07 Nov 2020 23:43:28
We had a pure championship side out today with maybe Koch so of course we struggled. The players from last season have a huge learning curve and have done well but we missed the extra quality of Rodders again and we desperately need Llorente to get fit. don't think Cooper will be able to hack it at this level.

I know some people are a little unsure about us signing another winger, however looking at our bench last weekend, other than Proveda I don't think we had any real impact players. Imagine being able to bring on Proveda and James/ Caantwell with 20 mins to go.

I know James and Cantwell aren't the finnished article, however they'd improve so much under Bielsa. I'd rather buy Cantwell though than loan James.

Bielsa loves wingers. he'd have another 5 if he could. They are the key to his system.

I thought Firpo had turned a corner but hasn't looked good in recent games. His defending has been questionable, but maybe he isn't suited to man-marking, and maybe a new style will help his performance.

Spanish: excellent post as always! Will definitely try and watch some of this at the weekend. Would be amazing to clinch promotion and to have series two with the fairytale ending.
