Personally I think we could do with a Shelvey

Archie and Ampadu
Be hard pushed to play 90 mins week in week out for 46 games

And I think some presence in midfield would be good .

Always liked Shelvey, good passer of the ball and happy to put a tackle in. I'd take him.

Hmmm… Kamara or Shelvey… could we do both? Shelvey’s distribution can be world class, but his legs were going two year ago last I watched him. Cards would follow and suspensions. Kamara has better legs and reliable bite. Neither are an Ampadu and neither would be my first choice… but we’re down to third and fourth choices… we just need to get in a striker, a left back as well as think about midfield. Sign ‘em up!

Massive NO to Shelvey.

He can certainly still pass, but he is really slow, and injury prone. He’s also reportedly fallen out with Steve Cooper, which unfortunately isn’t the first time he’s had a disagreement with a manager. We need to do everything possible to build the spirit in the dressing room after the last two dispiriting seasons an the equally disheartening summer to date - and bringing in Shelvey would not seem likely to help in that.

With his serious lack of pace, I’d rather play Lewis Bate, who also has a very good passing range, or Gyabi who can pass and is faster and stronger than Bate - or even Jenkins or Mortensen from u21s. Basically Shelvey would be taking up potential development spot on the squad for little benefit for the squad.

Obviously I’d far rather we bring in an experienced player, but almost any of those we’ve already been linked with would be a far better options than Shelvey.
