Let's look at the squad we have presently who are not on loan, and in my opinion the only players I would keep if we had the option of starting from scratch would be the below

Silvestri
Taylor
Coyle
Cook
Dave
Phillips
Mowatt

There for me is the problem and 5 of those came through the academy, some would be close to being kept like the below but I believe have problems that make them not good enough to keep.

Dallas (not enough goals, consistency)
Bellusci (just liable to make mistakes)
Bamba (too clumsy for me)
Beradi (good before injury but lacks pace)
Cooper (half decent but again lacks pace)
Wood (lacks pace again and does not score enough)

The rest I would move on so basically we need out of a squad total of 27 players that we currently have, 20 new players to give ourselves a proper chance of getting promotion next season, we may be able to keep Bridcutt so 19 players needed.

Do we really think we can do that, we are lumbered with some until their contracts end or are brought by others making the reorganisation of the squad difficult.

Lastly to be effective next season we need significant investment at a level of around 10-15 million pounds again are we in a position to do with hat if not cannot see us moving to a position of greater strength to challenge.

Belusci is way better than anything we have at the moment in the back four. Cooper makes mistakes all the time but is bailed out by either Taylor or Belusci. That's why we are so much worse when Bamba plays alongside Cooper. He can't sort out the mess like Belusci does. If we had a Cooper type of player but better then we wouldn't be too bad. We are not conceding lots of goals but we are not scoring or creating many chances. In addition we can't hold on to the ball in the opposition half and we put ourselves under pressure. Berradi Belusci +1 and Taylor isn't too bad. Striker attacking midfielder and wide men all with pace and quality is a must. Therefore 4 new quality players at least plus good squad players as a bonus.

BPF, Bamba, Coyle, Mowatt, Botaka, Carayol, Armstrong.

That team wouldn't cost the earth and would have us in the top 6. Limbombe £3m, Larsson £3.5m from Heerenveen, Carayol free, Armstrong loan, Berra £1m, Bridcutt £1.5m. Would sell Murphy, Cooper, Wootton, Doukara, Ant, Bianchi.

He's not good enough. Maybe have him as a backup, but not captain or first choice.

If you think wood and dallas ain't good enough then I think your expecting way to much. Dallas been brilliant for us this year and he can't do it every game to cover the rest of the team. and wood does miss some sitters but before he got injured he had 8 goals in the league and top scorer was 12.

I never said Wood and Dallas aren't good enough, I said Cooper is, at least for a team serious about promotion.
