Sad that I had time to do this but after fruitlessly getting behind the team against a poor Derby side I got bored and frustrated especially with the tactics and Becchio's role.
Time and time again the ball was knocked up to him in the air for him to flick on, hopefully to another player wearing white! My amateur Opta survey found that he managed to find a colleague just the once in fifteen attempts!
Unfortunately, this has been going on for some
time, both with Grayson and Warnock. Poor tactics? Yes! Poor player? You decide...

Believable3 Unbelievable3

I agree with the frustration over the tactics, but not sure you can blame Becchio, just who was he meant to flick it onto? He was by himself after the sending off! We should have stopped hitting the long ball as soon as he was isolated.

Agree1 Disagree0

Poor player? Not so sure on that. But deffo poor tactics. It just doesnt work.
Becchio is a big lad and carries some timber, he cant jump against 6'4" centrebacks all day.
My 11 year old son plays sunday footy and they constantly undo their opponents by getting the ball wide, running the wing and sending in crosses. Works almost every time. Why cant we give this a try instead?

Agree3 Disagree0

I wouldn't blame tactics. Look at the team. Most of them know they're not going to be here next season, Warnock is being very vocal about the fact that players aren't good enough.

They're all picking up their paychecks till they get the can. It's to be expected to be honest. The season's nearly over and there are going to be wholesale changes. What happens in the next couple of weeks doesn't really matter. It's what Warnock does over the summer, and how the new team gel in preseason that's going to tell us whether we can do it or not.

Agree1 Disagree1

I don't know why people can't just use their brains a bit more.

Becchio missed pre-season and ever since then he has been playing catch -up in terms of fitness. I'm fed up of hearing people slag the lad. I've never seen a more hard-working striker wear the white shirt.

Get off his back! With a pre-season under his belt he'll be back to normal for our promotion-winning campaign.

Theres a lot of talk about if aidy white should be offered a new contract or not. Personally i have a split opinion, Aidy is obviously a quick player but lacks defensive quality and rarely produces a good final delivery, he can get into promising positions but he just lacks the ability to produce the final ball. However he is still young and learning the game but personally i think that there are better wingers out there which would fit our budget

Another thing, after watching last nights game(qpr v swansea) I can't see any of their players joining us,even if they do get relegated.
Clint Hill looked solid, and paddy first choice keeper. They will have more chance of winning the championship next year than us or still be in prem.
I don't think we can attract the sort of player that we think we can cause of past glories.. sad but fact.
Lets hope NW can perform some miracles with transfers.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

I think you underestimate Warnocks pull with certain ex players like Kenny and Hill etc - dont be surprised if they come

Agree3 Disagree0

If QPR come down i dont honestly think they have so much more chance of getting up than us?!? why say that!?

comparing the 2, Leeds are a much bigger club, we will have NW in charge and i imagine QPR will have to sell a lot of quality players! i personally think if Bates open the cheque book a little bit in the summer Leeds can be a very attractive club in the championship - far more attractive than QPR.

all this depending on if QPR actually go down lol...

Agree1 Disagree1

Qpr would be able to keep there team if the players themselves dont want to leave as they have plenty of money unlike us. they would have there parachute payments for the next 4 years which would be plenty of money to keep paying there current squads wages so i would imagine they will go up again as champs if they was to come down.
We have no money to buy players so need to sell probably snoddy which i hope bates just finds 5 mil from somewhere and we keep snoddy aswell . we then need to sell/ release 15 players or more and replace with 10 quality players that have the ability to play in the prem league. i cant see us making it next season as i think its too much of a change in the summer so im predicting we will go up the season after

What we need is pace in our new team. Watch Blackpool and see how they ran southampton ragged down the wings. That's where we miss Gradel.
Snodgrass, new deal... not really fussed, seems a good idea to sell him and fund two or three consistant players.
I think NW is the man, so lets put our faith in him and hope for next season..

Believable7 Unbelievable0

I think we should play 4-4-1-1 next year with:

Longeran

New right back/ Lees - New Centre Back/ Lees - O'dea - New Left Back

Snodgrass - Clayton - New Centre Midfielder - White

Mccormack - Becchio

Doing this will use Mccormacks tricks and increase Snoddy's and White effectiveness from their preffered side

Agree0 Disagree9

I think you shoud wait to see who go's and who joins first before waisting your time

Agree1 Disagree0

I see more changes than that on the horizon

Agree5 Disagree0

First reply is basically the team right now. no chance of that, and why would you want it?

Looks like a lot of the wage budget will be taken up by a winger with no pace who can't cross a ball and insists on taking set pieces even though his delivery is extremely poor, brilliant news!

Believable9 Unbelievable10

Put better players around snoddy and he will improve again, imagine that he has scored 13 and last time I looked he had the most assists in the league.I think warnocks pre season would slim him down as he looks a few pounds over weight imo,But my head says the prem will be too much off a pull,

Agree8 Disagree1

Don't you just love some of our so called " supporters" : don't you realise players and indeed Neil look at these comments. If you can't be positive go and "support" elsewhere!

Agree6 Disagree7

Well said !!! to the above mot !!

Agree3 Disagree6

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Not everyone will agree on the quality of the same player. I think he is a quality player but i can see why people see him as a waste of space a he can be frustrating

Agree5 Disagree0

Last poster is right - just because I'm one of those who does think Snoddy is overrated doesn't make me a bad supporter. I've been going to the games for over 42 years now and I think that makes me a pretty good supporter. Doesn't mean I have to like every player. For me Snoddy is too slow, too selfish and lacks vision. He's OK in this league but not great and I don't think he's good enough for the premiership.

Good news

from OS

Neil Warnock has confirmed that the club have offered Robert Snodgrass a new contract and he is hoping the Scotland international will be the captain who leads the club back into the Premier League.
"We've offered him a top contract that will make him the highest paid player at the club," said the boss.
"I want him to be our captain next year and I've asked him to give us a year to get Leeds United into the Premier League and if we don't get there at the end of next season, I'll get him there myself because I'll help him and let him go.
"It would be a massive step forward for Rob for him to nail his colours to the mast. I think he loves the club and has a lot of loyalty, and as captain I think he will support us in what we are trying to do."
The boss also confirmed that a new offer will be made to out of contract Aidy White over the course of the next week while talks will also continue with the representatives of Ross McCormack and Adam Clayton with a view to new contracts.

Any ideas on what kind of war chest, Ken is likely to give Warnock over the summer?! Will he have to sell to buy or do you think Ken will finally open the cheque book?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Heard a few people say 10 million. That'd be enough especially if you think about the quality players who are out of contract and would be free

Agree2 Disagree8

Bates is only worth like 20 million so I doubt 10 mil will be spent. I think a max of 5 or 6 mill will be spent and that's if Kendalf the C**t is feeling lucky {Ed020's Note - its in his best interest that leeds are promoted, so an investment for 10 mill with a 70mill+return is what he's going to be thinking, then he'll offload leeds onto someone else for a massive profit. he knows what he's doing, lets just hope he does dig deep.}

Agree3 Disagree2

Agree with ed

Agree6 Disagree2

He could have tried to buy his way out of this league for the last 2 seasons so i don't see him doing it now,he is lucky he hasn't sold us out of this league with the players we have let go

Agree2 Disagree3

Hows Bates only worth 20m? {Ed020's Note - he was shown in the top 500 richest people as having a fortune of £20 mill. not sure how he's worth that, he was alot more a few years ago}

Leeds United have offered captain Robert Snodgrass a new contract giving the midfielder the chance to become the club's highest paid player.

The 24-year-old's current deal is to expire at the end of next season, with the West Yorkshire side keen to retain their star man.

Manager Neil Warnock has revealed that Snodgrass will stay as captain for next season and believes he could be the catalyst for winning promotion to the Premier League.

He told the club's official website: "We've offered him a top contract that will make him the highest paid player at the club.

Leeds have also revealed that Aidy White will be offered new terms and they are still in negotiations with Ross McCormack and Adam Clayton.

Meanwhile, Snodgrass has admitted that it has not been easy to cope with losing a vast amount of home games this season.

Aidy White been offered a new contract by LUFC.

Not too fussed if he leaves to be honest. He is fast but his crossing and finishing isent up to scratch. I think we can get a better winger next season who is just as fast.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

He's proved himself in defence.

Agree2 Disagree6

Proved himself in defence? Really? Know he's still young and learning but at the mo he's too clumsy and makes mistakes when in defence and can't cross or shoot when played as a winger.

Robert Snodgrass has been offered a new contract by LUFC. Warnock has said to Robert that he will make him captain next season and build the team around him for next season.

Hope he accepts it!

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Whether he does or doesn't accept the contract will indicate the kind of wages Bates is willing to give..if it's poor and Snoddy leaves then we can expect the usuall freebies and loanies arriving at ER.

i think nunez and rogers should be given a chance against peterborough.he is a good player with a lot of flair who has hardly proved himself due to lack of opportunity, rogers is an american first teamer so he must be good. neither have had a good enough chance to prove themselves and now we have nothing to lose

I think the trouble with the Bates organisation: Leeds United Football Club Limited is that the Business is playing the long game and the fans and the team are playing the short game. And the two just aren't compatible.

The East Stand redevelopment is the first phase of creating a 21st century Elland Road that is capable of maximising it's earnings potential in the premier league. Ok the hotel idea is ridiculous but the business plan isn't. However as fans we expect the best stadium and the best team we can afford. And like it or not the team isn't where the money is made so it doesn't take precedent over the hospitality and events package.

That said it's all for nothing if we don't get into the premier league to maximise the earnings and satisfy the payback criteria.
I expect Warnock to be given more funding and freedom than SG based on the fact he's highly experienced and proven at this level.
There is a finite amount of money at the club and the team only receives a 17th of the annual turnover. That 17th also goes towards the wage bill which must be ridiculous considering the size of our squad compared to the amount of players that get first team football.

- Drop the deadwood,
- Utilise the academy
- Buy premier league or top championship players.

And NO MORE LOANEES ! MOT

I think we have about 5 players worth their salt in the team. Next season I hope to see many(quality) players making a team that is worth paying to see. Alas, I think Neil Warnock(who is a quality manager) as a very taxing job ahead. So, good luck Neil cos you'll need it. All the best.
