Keep hearing the phrase sleeping giant on this forum. FACT. We have never been a sleeping or for that matter alive an kicking giant. Big city, medium sized club. Great away following but s**** home crowds beaten by almost half of division last year. We are a passionate bunch but there's not a lot of us attending matches for one reason or another. Always been the same. Remember when Terry Yoroath left for Spurs and said he had moved to a big club! Or when numerous player left to go to a certain manchester club. Why? Because apart from 10 yrs under DON REVIE and and the odd season here and there we have been a totally average and under achieving club who for some reason think he are entitled to success. Think we should marry Newcastle! Although they would bring far more to the wedding! MOT

Not a bad post, but not accurate I'm afraid. When you look at what makes a big club you must take into account the world wide following and not just the home support. I have worked away most of my life and I am constantly amaized at seeing Leeds shirts on young and old in places like Rio, Buenos aires, Singapore, Kuala Lumpar, Ho chi, min City, Dubai (huge supporters club ), Norway, Australia, Hong Kong and where I am now in Pattaya Thailand we get the biggest turn out along with Rangers and Celtic and believe it or not West Ham when we are on tv.
I know our home support has dropped off, but other "big clubs" had the same when they were down on their heels .
What I'm trying to say is big crowds don't always mean big clubs. Newcastle and Sunderland traditionally get more, but I don't think they carry the same name worlwide.
I would say the biggest English club world wide is Liverpool, but Man U could prob justify them being the biggest as I'm biased lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting and optimistic post.
Who do you support?

Agree0 Disagree0

So excluding the times when we actually won something we are not a big club?

Sure you could say that about a few big clubs

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course we are a big club still, just an "unsuccessful" big club.

example - When BP had their recent disaster and was fined millions while their share price, turnover and company value suddenly fell. , does that mean they are no longer a "big" company, no of course it does not, it just means they need to claw their way back from the disaster. same with our Beloved club - the more we SUPPORT the soon this will happen.

MOT - Sir Phil.

Agree0 Disagree0

Take it the poster does;t know much about leeds and our fan base, were the third most supported club in the london areas behind liverpool and Manchester United apart from the obvious teams followed in london, south africa where i;ve been based there is a massive support still after the cheif and massinga goes back to albert johannson days, scandinavia, germany, north america, south east asia where the second poster put down massive support in singapore last year saw, so more leeds shirts going round than Manchester United so to say leeds not a world wide fan base is ridiculous, Durban white.

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on this is rubbish. I went to Austria last summer, and whenever people asked where I came from I said Leeds. Every single Austrian that asked that then said 'Ah, Leeds United!' Literally every person I talked to about Leeds either knew Leeds or supported them, and this is in Austria!

Leeds United is a legendary football team, and is definitely top division standard for its training facilities, stadium and fan base. How many English clubs have reached the European Cup finals? Very few. How many can claim to have 2 Inter Cities (UEFA) cups? Arsenal have only one.

This is why we are a big club, and despite this past decade of misery, the fan base is still going strong. We had more supporters in League One games than most teams in the PL! WE ARE LEEDS! MOT!

Agree0 Disagree0

Was the first British team to appear in all 3 european cups finals European cup, Inter cities, Cup winners, not even that lot from over the pennies can match that.

Agree0 Disagree0

You either bleed white or red, i'm afraid your the latter.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is the teams fault not the fans. I remember in leauge one when we had a team that tried hard to win we had a higher gate than Juventus, Milan and most teams in the two divisions above us. get a team playing for the shirt get fans back in elland rd. fans won't pay ticket prices to pay for a casino they want investment on the pitch MOT.

P. S what an optomistic Millwall or Huddersfield fan must of made the original post

Agree0 Disagree0

OP is not a Leeds fan and knows nothing about football, past or present, just a muppet looking for reaction

OK players we should try and bring in. R Dunne if possible, although wages will be a problem. Just think he could be our modern day Strachan. K Doyle please instead of Hunt. Hunt a decent player but Doyle just needs a new club and fresh start to make him a top striker that he was few years ago. I really believe he could knock in 20 plus for us next year if he signs. Think about it. As much as I love Luciano he wasnt prolific apart from his final 6 mths but just got on a roll and fair play got a great move to premiership. Sometimes things just work out at a club and I think Doyle could be our Mick Jones or Lee Chapman for a couple of years. So one main player left to buy? A top quality winger. Not too many about actually even in top league. Thomas good but inconsistent. Pennant had so many chances at a lots of clubs including LEEDS. So leaves Burke or young Redmond at brum. Top players two of them so either will do although i'd prefer Burke for short term. that's it boys. 3 main players will do the trick I think. MOT

How the heck do you think redmond would b an option? he will b in the prem where he should b. we wouldn't stand a chance buying him

What does everyone think about Albert Adomah from Bristol City? I think he would be a great addition to the team, as he has pace, skill and a all round good game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Crystal palace want him in the prem so just not going to happen, he is good but tbh he's 2 good 4 this league

Agree0 Disagree0

Great Shout, if only it would happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes got a £4mil price tag according to papers

Agree0 Disagree0

Bristol dropped their demands because they need the money to strengthen their squad, £2m max.

Brian McDermott has spoken to politician and football agent Mick Wallace about 2 of his clients Kevin Doyle and Christopher Forrester this weekend in Ireland.

Source is a Guest at Shane longs wedding.

Mcdermott also spoke at length to richard Dunne and Doyle personally.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I spoke to Christy Forrester on Friday evening in Dundalk. He's had some interest from a few clubs in England but no approach from anyone at Leeds as yet.

Would be nice if leeds actually spent money on one good player with potential future profit, just one would be good and then some old freebies, just frustrating when you see all the wastes of money freebies we've had, surely if we saved their wages and used younger players instead we could plough the spare money into one or two good signings! Everytime we've been succesful with mixed good players with youth

Whats, everyones current thoughts on GFHC?they are currently on 0 on the Volume dial, not a thing from Haigh, Patel, Noorudin, Alrayes or mr 10% from IIB, kinda reminds me of last summer, when for a couple of months we didn, t hear anything from Bates, also just like last summer, the signs are free transfers/low fee transfers will be the calibre of signings we, l be bringing in this summer, am I right to assume we have yet to spend a single penny in the transfer market since GFHC took over last December? Is this due to GFHC being in talks to sell the club?or is the due diligance still ongoin with these so called Strategic investors?think we, l have to wait till the start of July for any indication on what's happening at the club, when a new chairman is appointed, hopefully the GFHC silence is golden in this case and we get some positive news re:Investment or a takeover with owners with actual funds to take this club to the next level, what's your thoughts on this fellow Leeds fans?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think we got money, not a lot, but some. don't think mcd would have taken job if there was no money. Think this years signings will be better regardless, simply cause mcd is a football manager unlike the last numbskull. They are obviously finding it harder than they thought to get investors. Hopefully they sell to sonebody who cares soon

Can you name one board of directors at any club who are saying anything at the moment. why should GFH come out and tell us anything, what right to leeds fans have to have all the boards workings, ideas, and plans laid bare in front of us, especially if the info they give us will help rival clubs. no other club does this, just give them a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree. These have been my thoughts for a while now. But let's us see in july as this will be the month when everything comes together.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely I can't be the only one who has noticed but since there glorious takeover GFH have not spent a penny on a transfer? Morison was a swap Warnock was a free Habibooboo was a loan and Smith is a free. You get what you pay for? Support BMc please! MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

You seem very keen to spend other peoples money. Not many Championship teams have spent money yet. Also do you think a free transfer is actualy free? it just means the player and his agent get a bigger signing on fee and wages. Nothing is free mate.
