craig mackail smith and ross mccormack going in opposite direction's but mackail smith's wages maybe the stumbling block

Believable23 Unbelievable30

So how can they be going in opposite directions??

Agree0 Disagree0

Very doubtful. and even if this were the case, wages would not ne the stumbling block. sounds like a load of made uo s*it

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually, this sounds like a plausible rumour to me. Mackail-Smith is a good finisher -turns well; gets in the Scotland squad ahead of Macca, and plays further forward than Macca. M-Smith could also possibly link up with ex-Posh teammate George Boyd at Leeds -I quite like the sound of that.

Agree0 Disagree0

That sounds like a good deal all round. CMS works his nuts off and next to Becchio will give us an extra dimension. He turned the game at ER when we played Brighton.

Wigan and West ham are after Leeds united striker Ross McCormack for 2.5 m and clayton has 13 months left on contract clayton 1.5m
Source: Daily Mirror

Believable33 Unbelievable16

If some club offers 2.5m for Ross we should snap there hands off. Don't think he worth that

Agree0 Disagree0

4m for these two? If true NW should grab it with both hands though I'm about as convinced by rumours from the alleged source as the Daily Fail.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds too good to be true -if so, bite their hands off now, could be the making of us!

I reckon Bruce and Clayton to Burnley. Nunez to some league one side. Connolly to Shef wednesday.

Believable23 Unbelievable10

Not wednesday, they'd be stupid if they sign him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nunez to Huddersfield. Grayson rated him enough to give him that long contract. {Ed013's Note - That is you just guessing. Even Simon didn't play him}

Ins:
Paddy Kenny - qpr -500k
Joel Ward - Pompey - 400k
Zac Whitbread - Norwich - free
Paul Green - Derby - free
Grant Leadbitter - ipswich - free
Alex Buzacky - qpr - free
Jason Puncheon - Southampton - 350k
Jermaine Beckford - Leicester - 1.5 million

Believable33 Unbelievable35

Leadbitter has all but signed for middlesborough

Agree0 Disagree0

Then he would have to sell thompson or brown as they would not get played he said he thinks brown is one of the best players Leeds have got and thompson is young and he wants to keep him

Agree0 Disagree0

Thompson's going out on loan for 6 months

LufcJay

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd go for most of those if we could get them -decent line-up

Agree0 Disagree0

Akos Buzaky is a top quality player, I can't see why he would leave QPR though?

Agree0 Disagree0

Paddy Kenny - qpr -500k - possible but at that price will qpr let him go
Joel Ward - Pompey - 400k will go else where
Zac Whitbread - Norwich - free possible as it it free
Paul Green - Derby - free - free possible as it it free
Grant Leadbitter - ipswich - free wont happen
Alex Buzacky - qpr - free wont happen
Jason Puncheon - Southampton - 350k maybe a loan deal
Jermaine Beckford - Leicester - 1.5 million bates pay over 1 million for a player that was at leeds and left for free that might just kill him

Leeds will wait to get rid of a few players before signing any more. By the end of this month Nunez, Clayton, Bruce and Connolly will be gone. {Ed013's Note - Where to any ideas? I think Bruce will find a club easily. Nunez has a massive contract so will have to go for pennies, Clayton is a difficult one and should bring a bidding war and who in their right mind will take Connolly!!!}

Believable17 Unbelievable12

Connolly will go to ackrinton stanley, who are they?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought Bruce was out of contract and already released. Brings rumour into question

Heskey to leeds deal done warnock wants the next Billy Paynter and thing Heskey will be as good

Believable11 Unbelievable56

Think this should be on the banter site.. Heskey and Paynter could have a good career in panto.. Not sure who would get the rear end of the donkey though.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is wrong on all levels :( please get real for gods sake !! (Josh)

Agree0 Disagree0

So if heskey is the next billy paynter he should average 1.6 goals a manager.

19 May 2012 17:18:06
It seems to me that there is somthing not right at leeds. Beckford aint cummin.i dont no 100% bt can we reali afford him. I get the feeling they are waiting to see wat they gunna get for transfer players b4 they make any final choices on who they gunna sign.. the club dont want to go up this season cummin they want to go up next season i dont no wats going on only bates knows if it aint a profit he dont wanna no

Believable16 Unbelievable21

Just heard we have siigned Scott Laird from Stevenage. Had a good season and is good solid LB.

Agree0 Disagree0

So Warnock signs a one year contract and is retiring at the end of the season but doesn't want to get promoted in his last year as a manager?

Agree0 Disagree0

FFS the season has been over two weeks. Get real, we will sign some good players, and miss out on others before August. None of that shows a lack of ambition. Trust in NW and LUFC Slingsby White

Agree0 Disagree0

What on earth are you guys smoking ? There is nowt wrong with NW and his strategy in bringing in players. Things dont happen overnight. Advice for you guys is... Go to sleep and feed that brain of yours some rest. You been thinking toooo hard

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would bates not wanna go up this season? that 5 year thing is up now and promotion is worth 90 million, you need to calm down pal

LTKK

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant find anything on Scott Laird signing but could be useful! Young, Versatile, played over 50 games a season for last 4 years so not injury prone and FREE!!

Agree0 Disagree0

NW warnock is on a rolling contrat one year at a time and if he dosnt do good enough they don't offer him a new one

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard it from a realiable source inside Stevenage FC. He looked good against Sheff Utd in play offs and has got some pace. Patience is the order at the moment especially with the new Financial rules coming into play, the agents are now discovering that its reality time and the stupid demands wont happen. We will get the right players for pre-season and i am sure deals are in place but why pay wages for 6 weeks. If it was my business that is exactly what i would do and I am sure my bank manager would agree !!

Agree0 Disagree0

Have a look at your own post mate, "I dont know whats going on, only bates does" direct quote from your post.

You then claim the club wont sign Beckford and they also dont intend to get promotion?

Agree0 Disagree0

The person who posted this has got a bit of stick but i can see his point, NW is great and wants promotion i dont think Bates does. I work very closely with top people at a london club (im not football related but work with them on another angle) and i know that clubs chairmen doesnt really want promotion, honest if they go up so do wages, if they only stay for one year they go back down but wages dont on all playing staff so then best players get cherry picked and the rubbish ones stay on better pay. Somone high up at this club said. teams have to know there place even if the fans do not. sad thing is i think bates thinks our place is championship mid-table. the clubs out goings and in going look that way, NW is great but has a job on his hands and if we somehow go up will bates invest in squad? im not so sure he would just plan for life after releagtion {Ed013's Note - I see your point, but promotion to the Premier League makes Leeds a better prospect to a buyer and that is what Mr Bates will do once the club is there. He would have stayed with a yes man manager if he was happy sticking around mid table}

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point ed i hope your right if we are going up NW is the man to do it, i think it will be an eaiser league next year looking at who have gone up and who have come down so fingers crossed it will be our year, i know it wont be the london clubs who i work for as that are happy just not to go down

Joel Ward and Paul Green to sign this week due to Blackpool not getting promoted!

Believable32 Unbelievable14

Why would we want players who consider us second choice, i would retract our interest

Agree0 Disagree0

If they do still decide on Blackpool or another Championship team they're not worth knowing!

Agree0 Disagree0

Deffo retract interest. We want hungry players who want to wear the shirt not money grabbers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would someone pick Leeds over potential premier league football. Hate people who still think anyone will sign for us. The reality is we're in the championship and aren't prepared to pay money or decent wages to attract good players {Ed013's Note - Hate people for that, very strong!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't be daft people -players are entitled to consider their options. If we take our bats home we'll end up with no one good -anyone good (as Ward certainly is) is going to have options. Common sense surely?

Agree0 Disagree0

Why should a player be 100% committed to join Leeds without considering his options.

A player has every right to consider their options, and had Blackpool got promoted, I would have fully understood Joel Ward agreeing to go there. Blackpool have a wage structure similar to ours so it wouldn't be for monetary gain, but a chance to play in the premiership.

Leeds are not the only club in the world and if you do not support them, then why would they be a no.1 choice for a player.

A player can move for personal reasons, financial reasons, or family reasons. It could simply be the case that a player like Ward would prefer somewhere closer to home.

Im surprised noone has suggested signing Alex Mccarthy. He was brilliant for us for that short spell and he said himself he'd like to stay at leeds? and now may not be wanted as Reading are in prem?

Believable28 Unbelievable12

It's funny, it has been mentioned several times tbh, but just pushed to one side by the Kenny rumours. A much more experienced overall better goalkeeper :)
RyanMOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love him here -I've mentioned him. Best goalkeeping I've seen here since Nigel M!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would prefer McCarthy to Kenny. At some stage we have to build for the future rather than a retirement home.
soso

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree, I don't think Kenny is that good and I've seen him play years back to his sheffield days and he is just an average keeper, problem with McCarty is him and loners are quite equal

Agree0 Disagree0

Was also brilliant for us when he played for Ipswich at elland Road

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, the best keeper weve had for ages, and he loved the club, much better than what we have or Kenny.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed McCarthy rather than Kenny. Hope Alex wants to play regularly next season rather than collect his wages and sit on the benches around the Prem.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive mentioned him before. Out of all the keepers that could be avaliable. Much prefer to have him than Kenny. Best keeper since Martyn and that includes Paul Robinson

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't know if reading would let him go especially not on the cheap! shame the boys got skills

Agree0 Disagree0

We wouldn't be able to buy him, as he's going to be Reading's future no 1 and wil easily cost a few million, but hopefully a season loan could be sorted out.

Keith andrews anyone been released by west brom could he be in are midfield next season?

Believable15 Unbelievable17

Is Andrews any good? Seems to be linked with us every summer, but never seems to play for whoever his parent team are! Any info on him welcome -what sort of midfielder is he?

Agree0 Disagree0

He has been released? I aint seen that anywhere.

Would be surprised if they released him, he was one of there better players this year. {Ed013's Note - The last I heard they was deciding whether to offer him a years extension}

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought of him as well when I read it on the BBC website but it did state that as WBA are currently managerless he will be out of contract and will only offered a new contract if the new manager wants to keep him.

He's had a good second half of the season and would be excellent in the Championship. Unfortunately I think he'll be looking to stay in the Premiership and I would be very surprised if he doesn't get offered a contract by a Premiership club.

*Possibly a GK: Kenny, Jaaskaleinen, Hannehman
*RB: Halford/Ward/ Richardson.
*CM: Green/ Ward/ Derry/ Clingan/ Smith/ Buzasky
*LM: Hammill/ McFadden
*ST: Beckford, Boothroyd, DJ Campbell, K.Phillips(if B'pool go up) Helguson, Blackstock.

#lufc move for Joel Ward looking uncertain. 3 separate sources say Leeds have been slow in coming up with £400k fee

JordLUFC

Believable30 Unbelievable5

Says a lot about us doesn't it. We want promotion to the top flight in English football, yet we can't/won't spend 400k on a class player to help us get there.
RyanMOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds aren't gonna pay for a player until he's agreed to join the lads weighing up his options. if he agrees to join they will pay the money.let's face it if leeds paid the money now and he didn't join, leeds are not going to get it back it's portsmouth they have nothing, stop putting negative posts on this site what is the point and by the way how do you know this is true? transfers can take time. its a big move for the lad moving 100s of miles away from family and friends it makes sense for him and leeds if you stop to think about it to let him make up his mind in his own time and then you will have a happier player etc.the delay has nothing to do with money!

Agree0 Disagree0

That's complete nonsense that we haven't come up with the money, it's there on the table, joel is just weighing up his options

Agree0 Disagree0

Its true slow coming up with the transfer fee todays yorkshire post says because we have been slow it has allowed blackpool to make a last ditch bid to sign him.ward himself said he would favour a move to elland road

Kenny possible move to Leeds could be on the cards as QPR show interest in Robert Green! However only if the Hammers fail to gain promotion via today's play-off final.

RyanMOT

Believable10 Unbelievable7

This is a predicament, as if the Hammers don't go up then Ward will most likely sign for Blackpool, but if the Hammers do go up we probably wont be able to get Green! So it all depends on the final tonight.

Leeds ins:
Paddy Kenny - 500k (Craig Gordon to QPR and Lonergan transfer listed)
Greg Halford - 250k
Zac Whitbread - free
Joel Ward - 500k (Only if Blackpool dont get promoted)
Paul Green - free (If Blackpool dont get promoted)
Ben Watson - 500k(Worked with Warnock)
Alex Buzacky - free (He will reject QPR offer)
Jerome Thomas - free
Jermaine Beckford - 1.5 million (Leicester signed Vardy yesterday)

Believable12 Unbelievable12

Jerome Thomas has been offered a one year deal to stay. Kenny won't cost that much, and Halford will cost a little more. Not really sure on our financial situation as for 1.5 for Beckford.

My top three signings in that list would be Watson, Ward, and Whitbread.

(Mickey1992)

Agree0 Disagree0

Are these rumours or just a random list of names?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the Joel Ward deal is off completely regardless of Blackpool's outcome today.

Its far to quiet and just doesn't have the same feeling as when the JP rumours were circulating.

Sheplufc

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't pay for beckford i think it's time to move forward not back all this wanting (for most of the time) average players back just because they once played for leeds is silly.lets move forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good calls -though would love Boyd and Ambrose for some invention in midfield (to offset loss of Mac's skills) -we cannot get by on graft alone. Not sure about Jerome T -would prefer a younger, hungrier type such as Blackstock/Deeney

I doubt that mr bates will pull 3.75mill out his piggy bank for these players he would like the freebies tho

Blackpool in for Ward after being given permission to speak to the pompy defender. Ward met with Warnock at Thorp Arch on the 9th of May and is yet to reach a decision on which team to choose. With Blackpool being in the play-off final today, I'm sure if they go up Ward will go there.

Wedge MOT

Believable13 Unbelievable9

Yeah have to agree, premiership to championship only one winner, however, West Ham will win today, so Blackpool will be in championship next year, so looks more likely he will sign for us on monday

Agree0 Disagree0

Yawn, yawn No brainer. blackpool promoted He'll sign for them. If not, he'll go for the next best paid salary. If joel wanted to be at leeds it would have happened already. my view, let this chap go he'll not bust a gut or play with heart & soul even if we land him. inlimbo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looking at LUFC website you can spend Fathers day @ ER, go wild @ Flamingo Land, buy the new home kit or bid for a shirt. Not too many reports about incoming players that are under 25 a fee's above 500k paid to secure them on 4 year deals! I am not surprised as same has happened for last 5 yrs now big statements of intent made but no action then best player leaves on 31st August. Only surprise is Papa isn't advertising new exec boxes are available !!

Agree0 Disagree0

@ inlimbo - yup I agree with you as Colin said "He wants people who want the shirt" if he's not signing he can't want it. I dont want to us be a second choice!

Believable25 Unbelievable13

If only! What a signing he would be.
Gordon, Ward, Green, Beckford, Mills and Chambers. I will be happy if we make any of those signings. Lets get some quality!

Im clearly not thinking what you are because im thinking a keeper on high wages is no good on the injury list

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm thinking he'll sign for QPR so we'll get Kenny tbh

Beckford to sign by monday. Possibly involving a deal that could take clayton to leicester. Good bit of buisness mr warnock.

Believable33 Unbelievable29

Who is you source.

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford for Clayton a good piece of business are you serious pal??

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford for clayton would be a very good bit of buisness

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is gonna pay his wages?, he will be on much more than any of the current squad - if Beckford gets top earner status will that then effect Snoddys decision. I am sceptical about this rumour and think it is just wishful thinking.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be good if Leeds don't have to pay 1 mil plus clayton

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, that would be a brilliant piece of business.Sounds almost too good to be true -bring it on!

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't really like Beckford as a person and I know he used to score only 1 in 3 chances when he was at ER before BUT he is quick and he scores and we need pace. As for Clayton he had a good start but fell away and we can get better value for money and use his transfer fee to bring in some quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford not good enough done nothing since he left Leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

To the guy who said Beckford has done nothing since he left Leeds...He scored 8 premier league goals for Everton in 32 appearances in his debut premier league season. A lot of which were from the bench and in a team that didn't score many goals.

I for one would definitely take him back, we need his pace and fearlessness to worry teams when we're on the counter.

Noel Rogers MoT {Ed013's Note - Lets not forget the 15 for Leicester in which he wasn't used much}

Agree0 Disagree0

This rumour keeps going round, i cant really see Leeds buying Beckford, however, a little rumour i heard last night in the pub was Warnock has offered to take Beckford, on a season long loan with an option to buy him, Leicester covering 2/3rd of his wage. Part of the same deal is Mccormack and clayton going to Leicester for a joint 1M fee

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently this post was made at 03.25, I think someone had a few too many shandies!

Agree0 Disagree0

The season long loan sounds plausible -though I'd ideally like more than 1m joint for Mac and Clayton. What do people think would be a realistic sum? 1.75 m joint? Surely Mac could fetch 1.25 and Clayton 0.5m?

Agree0 Disagree0
