I'm not one for posting crap but heard from a reliable source that Leeds did have the funds for Ward and terms had been agreed the stumbling block was his girlfriend didn't want to move North due to family commitments, he has even dropped 2k in wages from what Leeds offered to stay down south

I disagree Ward is a fantastic player, and is good enough for Leeds.

If it was actually true, then I would have a lot of respect for Ward. Too many players move because the money is better elsewhere, and it is great to see a player consider his personal life.

I honestly thought that Ward went to Palace, because neither Leeds nor Ipswich could raise the funds, and when Palace offered, Ward had a move that would satisfy him and Portsmouth.

Would have love to have seen him at Leeds, but best of luck to him.

If money was the issue, dont you think we'd've heard more from Warnock about not being backed?

If we didn't have the money, why would we get to those stages of negotiation?

Paddy Kenny & Lee Peltier set to sign for Leeds in the next three week with a takeover from chicago buisnessmen willing to invest a lot of money into the team.

Why would we want Peltier if Leicester don't?..Pearson obviously doesn't rate him if he is willing to let him go

Think about Pearson has took leicester in the wrong direction, buying the wrong players, falling out with them ect. We have Warnock who can make any player he wants to buy or keep a totally different player, Peltier is a proven championship player.

It's interesting to see a lot of the BATES OUT mob suddenly become his biggest fan now he might have decided to sell.

What do you expect they want him out...right?

Well isn't that the obvious point that most wanted?

Its also interesting to see that the reason they might like him is the fact that he is going? Doesn't take a genius to see the link

It has been a big change from BATES OUT to.... He's been brilliant in his time at Leeds and saved our club thank you mr bates.

Bates has done an excellent job for Leeds. If he is now getting out by selling to an owner who will take the club up to the next levels he has done a brilliant job. A word of caution re any takeover - sometimes it is better the devil you know and Bates is no Ridsdale. We might be stuck in the Championship but we have a club.

No i still hate him, for all those who think he has been brilliant i will remind you that our saviour put us into administration and he is also the reason we started with -15 points

And what about the fans who paid good hard earned money to watch sometimes dour performances. Think they should take most of the credit too.

Non of the anti bates like him or thank him, all want him to sell and go, good riddance, no interest in football or how the team performs on the pitch with no investment, aslong as he is getting his piggy bank money, who ever takes over the club will show more interest in the club than colonel sanders does,

If this fawaz Arab guy has got so much money why doesn't he buy Leeds and forest?;) haha {Ed020's Note - ruling i think is your not allowed to own over 27% of two clubs in the same league, or something along them lines}

They say that you cant own two because you may become bias towards one club making unfair

Why would you want that one club might get more money than the other its just wrong

Is NW about to walk out?

Is the guy that is buying forest is really buying Leeds?

Just been on yorkshire radio ken bates has said he isn't asking for 80 million and he hasn't spoken to any Canadians . so who does that leave

The investors are meant to be from Chicago...Thats not in Canada.

The main interested party are from CHICAGO according to most reports and that is in AMERICA so I'd be worried if he had talked to Canadians instead of the people involved with the Chicago bid.

I do wish you wouldn't keep doing KB a dis-service. When he says he will look for the best deal for Leeds I happen to believe him. He went out on a limb to save us from Krasner & Co who couldn't manage a good bowel evacuation. So what KB makes money and he winds a few mouth breathers up. The cynical side of me thinks that the ones making the most noise are the ones that KB ousted out of the cheap seats and concession seats and made them pay their full whack. And they accuse him of being tight, when "our club" was struggling. I would imagine right about now "Our club" is in a lot healthier position than it has been for years before KB turned up. Incidentally I am not an apologist for "Norman" Bates. I just happen to think if it weren't for him we could be like them person b**tards in Glasgow and had a chairman like Craig Whyte. He is probably correct in what he has said. What he hasnt said is that he is asking for £79m and he is in discussion with Americans.

What exactly would Bates be selling? It's not as if he owns the ground, or the training ground, oh no, absolutely not... We have no players assets to speak of. £80 is nearer the mark than 80 million.

Did he mention if it was any more than a simple investment though? that's the important matter.

He wouldn't comment on it anyway it would jeopordise a potential deal.

Even though i dont like the man and think he is stuck in the 80's I am sure you will agree that if he wants to sell then it is good business sense to do what is right as an individual and for the club and its future. As several posters have pointed out we are solvent and make money and why shouldn't a business man make a profit because that is why you go into business in the first place and take the risks in doing so because your aim should be to secure a good retirement package and good living whilst doing it , lets not forget that is what he is , a business man at the end of the day and he doesnt reside in Monaco for nothing!

My thoughts are that i believe Old Ken wants to leave the club in the best hands for the future as he wants to be remembered fondly. I heard that he had taken a fall and isnt well

First of all Bates is confirming what most saw as lazy journalism from the Daily Mail - regurgitating and combining to separate stories from a few years back.
Secondly this is a very unusual comment from Bates at this time, he wouldn't usually comment on such inaccuracies

Hi guys. The situation is that talks with Mr Bates, the club Chairman, are at an advanced stage and it is hoped that a press release will be made after the holidays. The reason that their appears to be so many rumours out there is down to both parties wishing to keep talks confidential as is the norm in circumstances like this. I can say that the prospective new owner is excited about your clubs future. If all goes well this club can look forward to a great future and realize its true potential. Could be American, spells 'realize; with a 'Z' !

Interesting post from somebody who wishes to appear in the know. Formal referencing of 'Mr Bates' might suggest a person who is part of the legal negotiations. The use of 'Hi guys' and the spelling of 'realize' may indicate an American author. Alternatively of course, errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation suggest that this person may just be out for a laugh, and not the involved party they seem at first glance. Anyway, in the know or not, I hope he or she is right. :0)

Cubs owner Thomas S Ricketts is another name in the frame, and intriguingly, as of last night was the only Chicago sports club owner linked to Leeds not to have publically denied an interest.

The 74-year-old is worth $2b and is believed to be keen to expand his sports portfolio. He has already held stakes in the Bulls and the White Sox.

Regarding rickets as being a major shareholder in county he would have to sell his shares before buying leeds and also as he pait 900 million dollars for the cubs makes you wonder how he will fund the leeds takeover will he a do a glaziers and borrow against the club to buy the club

I believe this may well be a tactic by Bates to delay buying players. All the so called buyouy or even investment will delay signing players and 1 or 2 weeks before the season starts, we will not have signed anyone. Good excuse being, "We were delayed by the buyout/investment". Bates using this as an excuse NOT to buy anyone of quality, but get a load of freebies in last minute, who have not ben signed by any other clubs. Hope I am wrong, just being pessimistic, then not disappointed when its true.
