Hey folks, Leeds nut for 40yrs ('73 cup final)-living in Cork Ireland- only been to Elland Rd ONCE-(last season Cardiff). Plan on a lot more trips now that "children" are nearly looking after themselves Ha-Ha. Reading this site for a while now- addictive- looking forward to new era-great work ED'S

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Glad to hear more Leeds fans in Cork mate. Ex London myself but a true white! MOT.

IMO, we need a dictatorship at Elland Rd, not a democracy. A coach like red nose or van Gaal ( best in the world IMO) do not care if the players like them or agree with them. I have coached at various levels ( all amateur and mainly youth ) and although I would never win a popularity contest, the team has done well. often the team bonds in their dislike of me! But at the end of the season, every player realises I did what I did for the team, not for myself. Like a lot of dim witted parents these days. they should stop trying to be their teenage monsters best friend and concentrate on being the parent. The problem is these overpaid average ability professionals and their massive egos. Hate to say it but the good youth players coming through need to be told what to do, not asked. JMO.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Although I totally agree with you OEC, I can't see any top coaches being interested in coming our way for a while yet.
Rumour as it BMD and MC get on ok and if BMD still wants his job after the clearout it's his.
If we do change the manager Gus Poyet seems to get the best out of his players and said his future at wonderland is uncertain ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree

Agree0 Disagree0

As I have said before Poyet hasn't done particularly well at Sunderland. Also, bringing back former players etc is not usually successful.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apart from Don Revie like

Agree0 Disagree0

Poyet loves Leeds and should never have left us .

Agree0 Disagree0

I really like Gus but to say he has done particularly well at sunderland . Well you must be mad or be a newcastle fan. Have you looked at the league table lately last time I did sunderland were ROCK BOTTOM

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't know if poyet loves Leeds Jeff but I agree he should never have left ;(

Really glad we are being linked to young talent. Bentley and Huws would be good additions. A few proven championship performers and a marquee signing I think all will be in place for next season.

Regarding Leicester, West Ham, Cardiff etc interested in Ross, surely a bid of around 7 million-8 million will probably snare him.
Under the rules, how much will Leeds be able to spend next season? We definately need to spend big and get rid of aleast 60% plus of our first team.

Hi. This is a post for Survivor. A few days ago I posted a copy of an email I wrote and sent to a number of email addresses of the club site. It is an email of thanks to Massimo. If I was to resend it to your good self is there any chance you could pass it on to Mr Cellinio for me?

Cheers mate.

All the best .

Ben

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ben you have to ask nicely and Jeff might hand it to MC over dinner tonight!
Dont hold your breath ;(

Agree0 Disagree0

Happy to do that for you.
Just send it to vicious.circle@**************
Jeff

{Ed013's Note - If I let that email onto the site, you will be hammered by email after email and some wouldn't be of a polite standard! I suggest you send the letter directly to the Club as they will pass it on for him}

I agree but don't give a monkies.
If people choose to hate me so be it.
They need to learn to work together with fellow Leeds fans and grow up.

we have won a match wonderfull! and there are poeple saying give brian another chance, well here is the facts, this guy is the worst performing manager in the history of the club, before saterday leeds united were the worst performing club in the entire football league. we have lost 20 matches and the season isn't over yet, . i'm sorry to say it, but brian has to go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oh worry not. Massimo has seen through this baffoon and will send him back to Reading at the end of the season! MC wants Leeds in the Premiership not League One!

Agree0 Disagree0

So you want BMD out, fair enough. But we were 5th at Xmas, as Massimo stated in his interview with YEP. 5th with an average team. All the problems that came after Xmas, have undoubtedly been a massive distraction.
Now we have some stability let's give him a chance to prove that he is a good coach, I think he will prove to be excellent.

Agree0 Disagree0

BMD has a couple if years left on his contract so let's see how he does as a scout next year.
Massimo thinks that's his best position.
Jeff

Agree0 Disagree0

Kebe Wootton Stewart Zaluikas Hunt & Murphy and scout is BmDs best position are you for real?

I believe that Ross will be off in the close season to a prem club. And if Jordan Rhodes is worth £8m then we should hold out for somewhere in the region of that. Invest it in the squad, along with the players who are out of contract and a couple of other sales then MC doesn't have to invest a penny this close season. We were top 6 back end of last year so we have the nucleus of a good squad and £8m would buy us 4-5 good champ players. Maybe combine that with a couple of Italian flair season long loans?
MC can concentrate on looking for more hidden debts to pay off and buying back ER & maybe TA.
MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why do people persist with this to good to turn down or we can re invest, wake up ffs, we will have investment and don't need to sell a 30 goal a season striker

just a thought but isn't changing the badge a good commercial decision change the badge we the fans buy merchandise with the new badge, money goes into the club and hopefully the balance sheet gets better and we have a healthier club or perhaps i'm missing something

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't you think we deserve a return on the money we pumped into the club for the last I don't KNOW how many years?
We not had anything in return for 15 yrs mate!!

i am sure you will all join me in sending my thoughts and respect to the family and friends of the 96. we are all part of the big football family and hope you will soon get closure and justice

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said Jeremy, I was actually at hillsborough that day free tickets from work (when I lived in Rotherham)
Didn't go to the replay, the sights and sounds put me off for a good few weeks ;(
AndyMOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Thoughts go out to the families and friends but I was in the same end 2 years earlier and there was a fundamental problem with the ground. if you came through the turnstiles on leppings lane all you saw was the tunnel that led to the middle two enclosures the enclosures was sealed once you was in it was very hard to get out. micky b

Agree0 Disagree0

Micky b
Yeh I've heard a few people comment on the tunnel, fortunately I was just to the side on that sad and unforgettable day.
Still see people that were carried out on the old advertising boards, worked on for a few mins then a coat put over their head, that's when reality kicked in.

RIP and condolences to everybody who lost loved ones ;(

Ok, so i'm not a pro footballer, never managed or coached and I don't have friends or family associated with any club, I'm simply a fan with an opinion just like the vast majority. For the first time in nearly a decade I feel excited about the potential progress the mighty whites could make next season IF they do it right. Either BMD goes at the end of this season and we get in someone new sharpish so they have all summer to bring in new talent and work with the current squad that they want to keep or, preferably imo, BMD stays and he gets the complete full support of MC, give him a 10-15 mil chest which should be ample for the championship. I've seen some of the prem players out of contract this summer, there is some top talent out there, granted, they have a few miles on the clock but plyers like Brunt, ridgewell, gabbidon, riise, chamack could all do a good job for us. there's a few tasty goalies up for grabs too, not just westwood. I'm not saying sign them all and wages would probably be an issue but one or two, a couple of promising lower league talents (Bentley etc) and a couple of solid tested championship players and we'd be golden. Get rid of the chaff, play players in their prefered positions and please do whatever it takes to keep Ross for at least one more season. Also, the whole badge/strip colour debate. i've seen the badge change before and countless god awful kits and I can't remember a single instance where either had a direct influence on a season, clothes do not make the man.

Sorry Andy.didn't get my point across, we've got a lot of talent coming through, we are also coming to the end of the season.Would be good time to slot in a bit of youth. They've played together for a long time so before we start a new season and start spending silly money, hoping New players will fit in to the team.
Sounds like we may loose MCORMACK, with all the interest being bantered about. So we need a back up plan.

MULHERN, remember the name
DAWSON, Walters
MOWATT,
BYRAM,
This is progress, these are our future, rather than paying out big signing on fees, we are developing our future. When we get rid of all the surplus players, either
Lost pace or are injury prone, we have a young talented force, that have played together as a team for some time.
Goalscorer, that's what we need in our team, Ross has amassed 28 goals.Smith 10, Murphy 3, Austin Pearce1, Warnock 1, 54 in total, but we need at least another 10, to compete.
DEFENCE.Needs regular solid players.we had 63 goals scored against us up to now, that's 20 too many.In fact 63 goals too many.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

IM not knocking you I've ALWAYS said we need youth but a couple of injuries and your struggling to field a decent team, that's when you get found out take a heavy defeat and confidence declines in younger players.
Championship isn't that good at the moment look at reading for example, they took 4 points out of 21, last 7 home games they won 0 drawn 4 lost 3 and STILL in the play-offs.

Answer is a mixture of youth and good old pros who can teach the kids and bring them along ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't forget Charlie Taylor too, he deserves a chance next season! Also Lewis Cook, the England under 17 international.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need experience for goodness sake not England u17 internationals

Agree0 Disagree0

We need at least one center half without threepenny bit feet. micky b

Agree0 Disagree0

Experience? What like Kenny, Warnock, Austin, McCormack, Hunt and Zaliukas? We need youthful exuberance and pace as well, you know. Look at Derby, Leicester and Burnley, they all have young teams, then the likes of Forest and QPR have ageing teams and are struggling to go up.

Hi, this is a question for survivour, or anyone else supposedly in the know, are we actually changing badges, and if we are are we going back to an old badge?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Leave the badge alone for godness sake!!

Why are some people so keen to change it?

WE SHOULD BE PROUD OF IT!

(A club badge is for life - not just for Christmas)

Agree0 Disagree0

To the person who replied to me, I was asking a question, not saying we should change it. Try reading before u say something.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree why start changing a badge it WONT make the team play any better, let's keep focused on the team/results and the future, build a fortresss at ER like we used to have.
Years ago with the fans/atmosphere at ER oposing treams said it was like playing against 12 men and NOT ONE team looked forward to visit us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes delboy, it's very frustrating when you get attacked for asking a question.

I think it's gossip but hopefully someone in the know answers it factually. Some fans associate the badge with ridsdale. new era new badge, why the hell not hey.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, did u guys read what I said or not. Ed answer this for me did I mention wanting to change the badge or not?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - nope you asked a question.}

Well, I shouldn't say this but I was having a meeting with Massimo yesterday about the club badge which we both agreed needed a change as this badge was born of the Risdale era, when who should walk in but Eleonora and she sat on my knee and whispered in my ear that she would do anything to see the old smiley face badge. So, there you go. Leeds will be wearing the old smiley in two seasons time. OK, I am lying but Jeff started it haha.

MM

Agree0 Disagree0

Delboy04, you actually said here is a question! Don't think could be clearer.
I think our current badge has a bit of Italian about it anyway. Don't know exactly why!
The only draw back is it is not exactly associated with the best of times at LUFC. Wait and see what MC decides!

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not sure you guys get it, all i'm saying is, are we changing the badge or not, i'm not saying we should.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mad Mick it wasn't this Jeff

Agree0 Disagree0

Delboy04

I was replying to the post above my comment, I'm guessing he read your post wrong and I read his reply.
Sorry if I ruffled your feathers mate and I don't know if the badge will stay or go ;(

Mad mick - that's funny
Del. don't agree we should change badge!
Lol!

Lots of talk re a new manager, but I am not sure more change/new personnel is good. We need people who know and love our club, stability is key. Give BMD and Gibbs a chance to show their mettle, really don't believe more sackings and change is the way forward

Leeds linked with Soutend Goalkeeper Daniel Bentley, strongly tipped to be a future world class keeper
Could signal Paddy Kenny's departure?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 clean sheets this season and 17 games where He has only conceded one goal. Pretty good for a 20 year old considering they were mid table last season but in play offs this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be a good singing, remember Joe Hart and John Ruddy both started in League Two and now they're in the England squad.

Does anyone else think that once we have brought in a few more players and got rid of the dead wood then we should try playing some of our more favourable players in their preferred/true positions on the field. Too many times have we seen players just plugged in wherever. I think it's destroyed a couple of the boys seasons and reputations!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yep exactly. I actually think wickham wanted out of leeds after being put out on the left wing so Sunderland recalled him. He was playing well up front and then one game on the wing he doesn't have a good game then he leaves. Mccormack wanted to leave last season because he wasnt played up front yet he has been played there occasionally this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post - I never believe in playing anyone out of possition unless we have to in emergency. Look at Peltier last season, Wickham and McCormack this season!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep peltier became a scapegoat last season because he was played as left back and did horrendously.

the yep have a picture of nigel gibb describing him as caretaker manager, this was on saterday blackpool match, bmd was in dugout, gibb was on touchline, we won 2-0, last time e was there we beat huddesfield 5-1, who thinks he is really the caretaker manager.
